Hello Gabriel, thanks for your reply. Mary is blessed above all people because she is KECHARITOMENE, literally it means "she who has been graced" in a COMPLETED sense. God saved Mary in a most sublime manner. She was given the grace to be saved completely from sin( Luke 1:28, Romans 6:14) so that she never committed even the slightest transgression ( Jude 24-25). Every Christian is NOT completed in grace and in a permanent sense ( Philippians 3:8-12). But according to the angel, Mary is ( Luke 1:28). You and I sin, not because of grace, but because of a lack of grace, or a lack of our cooperation with grace, in our lives. This greeting of the angel is one clue into the unique character and calling of Mary. Only Mary is given the name "full of grace" and in the perfect tense, indicating that this permanent state of Mary was completed.
• Gabriel on Luke 1 - 12 years ago
dear Boyet Christian; mary was as blessed as any other person to be a conduit of divine Grace, to brand her as without sin would be to put her on a pedestal with Christ, that would be anathema - or is there another way of interpreting john 14:6?

Wow. What a chapter. Prophetic on salvation on Christs holy beginning on his name on the mother of Christ on John the baptist's beginning which should sort out the confusion that many have on who is who. In fact this chapter alone sorts out alot of myth revealing truth.

Oh, Praise God! How majestic to think that the God of Glory would come to earth in form of man. His own arm brought salvation according to Acts 2:37,38.
• Joe on Luke 1 - 13 years ago
People often dispute the accuracy of this book. Just knowning that a Doctor and one of the most learned men of his time would write so much about these events would be enough. Not only to convince anyone of the historical accuracy but to show that the miracles were real events by a real person called Jesus. All witnessed by thousands and recorded for all time by a Doctor. What more proof could you ask for from anyone of that era.

I really love it God bless
• BM Devitt on Luke 1 - 13 years ago
Gabriel did not say you have concieved but that she will concieve. Mary seems to misunderstand this. Mary is by scripture espoused (engaged)to Joseph. If read carefully this is a direct prophetic calling to give notice of what will be !

• Boyet Christian on Luke 1:28 - 13 years ago
The angel Gabriel said, "Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you" ( Luke 1:28). The phrase "full of grace" is a translation of the Greek word KECHARITOMENE. It therefore expresses a characteristic quality of Mary. The traditional translation, "full of grace," is better than the one found in many recent versions of the New Testament. The grace given to Mary is at once permanent and of a unique kind. Kecharitomene is a perfect passive participle of charitoo, meaning "to fill or endow with grace." Since this term is in the perfect tense, it indicates that Mary was graced in the past but with continuing effects in the present. So, the grace Mary enjoyed was not a result of the angel’s visit, it is extended over the whole of her life, from conception onward. She was in a state of sanctifying grace from the first moment of her existence.

The women after Christ's resurrection, Noah, Moses, David, Gideon, and Jael are NOT considered by the bible as KECHARITOMENE. ONLY FOR MARY is the word KECHARITOMENE used in the bible as a proper name, clearly showing the singular way God has blessed her with His grace and holiness. The fullness of such grace and holiness would not at all be consistent with any presence of sin, giving us an indirect statement of Mary's complete freedom from sin.

I stand, always, amazed at the workings of our Lord and Savior. By just looking at the blood lines of Zacharia/Elizabeth, Joseph/Mary coming together to bring forth the Gospel of Christ, Wow and AMEN! This, alone, could change a sinner's thought processes about who Jesus is when they would come to the realization of it's power. It's the blood, the precious blood that has all power to cleanse, save, and heal. AMEN (again)

Thank you Lord for having Luke share this declaration with Theophilus and then preserving it for us to enjoy. Now we can know the 'certainty' of Your ministry while here on earth.
• David on Luke 1 - 13 years ago
Sad it may be, but it's only inspirational if true. To be true, certain events must have actually occurred. If they did not occur then it is myth and for this reason alone it is worth engaging with the difficulties that I have previously outlined.

Great reading this. I will ask also for prayer while I am here(Just feel lead). I am preparing to teach in Japan if God opens the door there again, and want to later bring the wife and baby girl aged 1 yet in one of the places away from the March 11th area.

God has a divine plan and we are all a part of it. It is beautiful when we can believe everything that is written in the Bible by God for us.
in particular verse LUKE 1:35 IT IS THE HOLY GHOST OF THE FATHER THAT IS COME UPON MARY. AND THE HOLY THING THAT IS BORN THROUGH MARY IS CALLED THE SON OF GOD AS SIMPLE AS THAT AND NOTHING TO BE COMPLICATED THAT THERE IS ONLY BUT ONE GOD.
Alas, that is not entirely true nor is it that simple, because the modern doctrine of the Trinity (which I concede is not Biblical; though most Christians wouldn't) teaches that there are three deities; all apparently equal in status and none of which is supreme! Ergo; modern Christians believe in three Gods, though they don't like to admit it. Those Christians who persisted in maintaining a belief in one God, that is to say; one superior to both the Son and the Holy Spirit, have been declared heretics since the 4th century!

I see nobody wants to discuss the elephant in the room! It seems like a classic case of 'when faced with a thorny issue', make dark foreboding noises or talk about something else. If anyone has the wherewithal to tackle my concerns seriously, either with historical fact or scripture I will be happy to respond. Until such time I shall rest my case which is essentially that Matthew and Luke are both unreliable historically and in scripture!

There were naysayers in the OT when Nehemiah went back to Jerusalem to rebuild the city. So understand this, either you’ll meet Jesus when you die or you’ll see him come in the Glory of his father. That is if you believe.

In figurin Zacharias and the 24 course of Abia his 7 days was the 8th course and he held it from June 13 to the 19th. So he left for home on the 20th and it took 3 days to get home so he was home on the 23rd. I`ll be back this is a work in progress. If any one has it done let me know. Please.ty
• Ben Weaver on Luke 1:35 - 14 years ago
There are several modes of being God's son. Lu. 3:38 says "Adam was the son of God". He was God's created son and received his life from God. 1 Jn. 3:2 says "Beloved, now are we the sons of God", (adopted sons through "Christ, who is our life" Col. 3:4). Jesus is the only begotten Son of God because no other human mother ever conceived by a work of the Holy Spirit, without a human father. All descendants of Adam inherited the sin curse and passed it on to their children. As I see it, the only way God could have; adopted human children, is to by-pass the father role and to enter humanity to become a human mediator for us. Through the legal transaction of believing and confessing that God raised His Son Jesus from the dead for (me) anyone becomes God's son and heir along with Jesus(males and females alike). Awesome grace.
• Garyloyd newman on Luke 1 - 14 years ago
This is an account of conception. Mary conceived her Child Jesus when John Leaped in the womb of Elisabeth, Mary`s cousin, a levite, Marys blood line are levites/PRIEST! Zacharias was a Priest and had just finished the 8th course of Abia and it took about 3 days for him to get home and when all is done Jesus was born on Sept 25 and conceived on Christmas day. If you don't seek the truth you won't find it.
