29 But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbor? ... 2019 and nothing has change, who is my neighbor?
  • Teri on Luke 10 - 5 years ago
Keep in mind matthew 6 about doing alms and remember that God looks at the heart. some think they are getting "rewards" but may find their works were burned up! others, do not kind things when they should and miss the opportunities to really please God.
  • Obbie Beal on Luke 10 - 5 years ago
note 1-16, in the verses above where the heart of Jesus remains on the harvest /reaching those to be saved; also the labors that are few; labors sent into a hostile world; assurance to labors their necessity shall be provided; there will be rejection by many of Jehovah 's salvation; notice there is a day of judgment by GOD.
  • Obbie Beal on Luke 10 - 5 years ago
verse 20 above: Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven. (Wow! Wow! Wow! rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.)
  • Sally on Luke 10 - 6 years ago
Mary has chosen the good part. Being trouble and careful about many things is not the good part. Philippines 4:6-8 be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with Thanksgiving let your request be made known to God. And the peace of God, which passeth all underdtanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
    Philippians 4:8.
  • BSP on Luke 10 - 6 years ago
Verses 36,37~Even though there was a difference in race, the principle of showing love to one's neighbor still applies. We should be neighborly towards all.
  • A disciple on Luke 10 - 6 years ago
"And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: but one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her." Make it your habit to sit at Jesus' feet and hear his Word, and it is guaranteed that it will stir up someone to find fault and complain about you sitting there idle! But Jesus knows you!
  • A disciple on Luke 10 - 6 years ago
"Which now of these three do you think was neighbor unto him that fell among the thieves?" Its not hard to see how Jesus turns the man's own words around on himself by God's view of his true character. As we measure others shall we be measured out to; and with the same judgment that we judge; shall we be judged! "Who is my neighbor?" How do you measure up as a neighbor? Not your religion but YOU!
  • A disciple on Luke 10 - 6 years ago
"And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead." Interestingly, someone may know the Scripture Text Chapter and Verse and yet have animosity and defiance in his heart against the Spirit who inspired the Word! The way to overcome this? Have mercy on others!
  • A disciple on Luke 10 - 6 years ago
"But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbor?" So, while this person was really knowledgeable in the Scriptures, and KNEW FULL WELL just exactly that keeping the Commandments was the Divine Decree and Mandate for "How to inherit everlasting life;" he apparently also KNEW FULL WELL just exactly what the Commandment meant BUT HE DIDN'T AGREE WITH IT! So he debates!
  • A disciple on Luke 10 - 6 years ago
"..Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? He said unto him, What is written in the law? how read you? And he answering said, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all you strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself. And he said unto him, You have answered right: this do, and you shall live." We are known by our fruits!
  • Eutychus on Luke 10 - 6 years ago
Vs 18, "And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven." Rev 12:9. "And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him". "And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven." Rev 12:4. Turns out, WE WIN! But must walk this earth, carefully.
  • A disciple on Luke 10 - 6 years ago
"After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come." That which began as a tiny seed has become a great tree filling all the earth. Not only the Apostles, but ALL who are Jesus' Elect, are supposed to be His Ambassadors and Ministers to every place where the Lord Himself would come.
  • A disciple on Luke 10 - 6 years ago
"Who is this guy???" It is shameful and horrifying how easily some think they can talk so flippant and disrespectful about the Son of God, who came to earth out of pity FOR YOU to sacrifice Himself IN YOUR PLACE to bear the punishment of YOUR SINS, when He had done nothing wrong! Christian has nothing to do with paradigm of religion. The ONLY WAY God said we can be saved is through His Son Jesus.
  • A disciple on Luke 10 - 6 years ago
servant; Jesus Christ the Son of God who was with the Father from everlasting to everlasting; came down from heaven and was manifest to the world in the flesh to fulfill the Word from the beginning of God's Anointed breaking the serpent's head, and therewith taking away the sin of the world by His own bruising; rising again from dead the third day, a confirmation from God that JESUS is the Judge!
  • Servant of God on Luke 10 - 6 years ago
Who is this guy who came to earth and changed the paradigm of the world of religion. Even today, our beliefs are so diverse and contentious that we are willing to war over discrepancies, between Christians, Muslims, Jews. Oh Israel, who has heard from the Father himself in olden times and the prophets through out time, where are we as a nation of people, squabbling daily, at each others throats?
  • Son of David on Luke 10 - 7 years ago
You see that Jesus was every bit as human as you or me, even subject to emotions of doubt and distress. What a teacher! He demonstrates not as rhe hypocrites who say and who does not practice. What is love but the word of the Father which Jesus received and gave to whosoever he would. Their is no respect of persons with Jesus, the Christ. He came to earth miraculously and went his way sowing
  • Anne on Luke 10 - 7 years ago
This parable of the Good Samaritan is a perfect example of loving our neighbours as ourselves and we should do likewise as followers of Christ.
  • Lu2677 on Luke 10 - 7 years ago
Edna, What is your conclusion of; (The story of the Good Samaritan, and the Lord's answer to the lawyer he was talking to) Luke 10:25 through 37? I hope to get an answer from you.
  • Anna on Luke 10 - 7 years ago
Irene: Yes, sorry, I translated it in my head from the Finnish bible.
  • Irene123 on Luke 10 - 7 years ago
Anna - I guess your Bible says - "locked"; the KJV just says shut. That's okay, they very well could have been locked - for fear of the unbelieving Jews.
  • Anna on Luke 10 - 7 years ago
Irene: John 20:26. Jesus appears to His disciples.
  • Irene123 on Luke 10 - 7 years ago
Anna - "..... behind locked doors". What locked doors; where were these doors at ..... ?
  • Anna on Luke 10 - 7 years ago
The keys to the kingdom of heaven were given to God's children to loose and bind sins. When someone is on the wayside burdened with a load of sins, the conscience feeling hells burning flames, a child of God stops to heal with the words of the forgiveness of sins. That power has been given to the congregation which Jesus established behind locked doors.
  • Peter A. Okebukola on Luke 10 - 7 years ago
The message of love of God and love for our neighbour keeps ringing in Jesus' teachings. "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself." Salvation and love provide the master key to take us to heaven and everlasting life.
  • Julius Mutua on Luke 10 - 7 years ago
Verse 19 gives me the confidence to soldier on. Glory to God. I have the POWER!
  • ONWODI SUNDAY CHIEDU on Luke 10 - 7 years ago
Sir, what are the likely costs and benefits for showing love to our neighbours Luke 10:25 to 37 ?
  • A disciple on Luke 10 - 7 years ago
In all the various kinds of people following Jesus, look at the oneness of the word toward each kind! To the Seventy, to the Lawyer, to Martha; all speak to us about being sent into difficult situations and conditions, for the sake of doing God's work: whether we are sent out; or if we have one in front of us who needs mercy; or we need to lay aside all our "other" worries, and sit down and hear!
  • Sandra on Luke 10 - 8 years ago
Mary has that attitude of listening whereas Martha worried and Mary chose the good to do. I like the fact worrying does solve the problem which means the word of god has the answer when we totally trust him.
  • Charles on Luke 10 - 8 years ago
    Jesus. Jesus. and more Jesus
