  • Peter A. Okebukola on Luke 11 - 7 years ago
Jesus had some straight talk with the Pharisees including lawyers among them. There were so many "Woe unto you" as he rebuked them for their insincerity. He said it as it is: "Woe unto you! for ye build the sepulchres of the prophets, and your fathers killed them." We should avoid walking the same path as the Pharisees lest we are equally rebuked with "woe unto you".
  • Maricel Gallego on Luke 11 - 7 years ago
I love reading the word of God.It gives me a lot of wisdom and knowledge.
  • Joe rog on Luke 11 - 7 years ago
Luke's version of the Lord's Prayer is great, it shows clearly that it is not finances only that should be forgiven like some believe from the Matthew version which uses debts. Luke says sins. And I know that Jesus explains the Matthew version and uses the term trespasses. So from these two versions of the Lord's Prayer we should forgive debts trespasses and sins. Glory to God and glory to Jesus.
  • A disciple on Luke 11 - 7 years ago
"Lord, teach us to pray..." The Lord DOES teach us! He gives us precisely the words to use; and He tells us all about HOW to pray. It is our own UNBELIEF and lack of determination that accepts obstacles and contradictions as indisputable; instead of tenaciously clinging to the urgency of our need, and not accepting a "No" from Him who alone can help us. How badly do you need? THEN PRAY LIKE IT!
  • Stephende on Luke 11 - 7 years ago
The chapter shows the passion of Jesus, the High Priest, in his vehemently urging repentence to gain the Holy Spirit of God. And who is blessed of God? Those who hear the word and keep it. The word of God exists in no other place than the Bible. To hear first ye must read, study until understanding truly occurs. It is hard, hard to do but but this is importunity that Jesus preaches. Glory be

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.
3 Give us day by day our daily bread.
4 And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For thine is the Kingdom, the power and glory forever Amen. If I canAlwaysRememberThat, itCoversItAll4me

And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. And the people, when they knew it, followed him: and he received them, and spake unto them of the kingdom of God, and healed them that had need of healing. And they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing every where. Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. Turn again to the most High, and turn away from iniquity: for he will lead thee out of darkness into the light of health, and hate thou abomination vehemently. For the eyes of the Lord are upon them that love him, he is their mighty protection and strong stay, a defence from heat, and a cover from the sun at noon, a preservation from stumbling, and an help from falling. He raiseth up the soul, and lighteneth the eyes: he giveth health, life, and blessing.
  • Norm on Luke 11 - 8 years ago
He will swallow up death in victory and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it. Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them, and will reveal unto them the abundance of peace and truth. For he created all things, that they might have their being: and the generations of the world were healthful and there is no poison of destruction in them, nor the kingdom of death upon the earth: For it was neither herb, nor mollifying plaister, that restored them to health: but thy word, O Lord, which healeth all things. For of the most High cometh healing, and he shall receive honour of the king. That thy way may be known upon earth, thy saving health among all nations.

  • Stan on Luke 11 - 8 years ago
On verses 34-36: Here Jesus is saying you're either 100% fill of light and goodness or 100% full of evilness and darkness. There's no such thing as being partly light and partly darkness, partly good and partly evil. There's only 1 way to be 100% full of light: by recieving Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. "I am the light of the world" (Jesus) "In Him was Life; and the Life was the Light of men."
  • MockingBird on Luke 11 - 8 years ago
We all have a copy of God's word. The religious people were saying that Mary was blessed to have the Christ. Jesus did not deny it : But said : Rather than that : we are the more Blessed to hear the word of God and keep it. To keep it is to meditate in the word by day and by night and that puts it into our heart to keep it and to draw on His word in time of need . Be a doer of God's word and not just a hearer only. Do what God says. Keep it in our heart !!!
  • Terrie on Luke 11 - 8 years ago
God says that hears and does of his word, please him, because one is walking in obedience. Here is a person who loves, God, himself and his neighbor.

God assured us that He can give us anything, now the ball is in our hands to trust God for great things, meaning there is no need of worrying if you are struggling to get something because God will give you.
  • Thokozani Sibanda on Luke 11 - 9 years ago
I like hw Luke says these words "ask and you shall be given to,seek and you shall find, knock and u shall be opened for" these are wise words we should keep in our minds n hearts,God loves each and everyone that when u ask something he delivers it to you but he doesn't just deliver it to you at the same time,he awaits and looks at ur trust for him ,,,,,therefore i say Christian lets not give up in the Lord for he is the reason we still alive its becoz he loves us and wants the best for us
  • Ernest Thompson on Luke 11 - 9 years ago
Like the Scriptures says.Ask an it shall be given. You have to ask.in order to get some answers. An seek an ye shall find.if you don't search for it..You don't know it.An the knock an the door.Shall be open.I think it a learning process that again let's us know how truly good God is.

Psalms 145:20 The LORD preserveth all them that love him: but all the wicked will he destroy. 1 Thessalonians 5:9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, Romans 2:8 But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, 5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

Luke 11:34 The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness. Daniel 2:22 He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him. Amos 5:18 Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light. Zephaniah 1:15 That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness,
  • Chel on Luke 11 - 9 years ago
I have learned to be patient. God may not come, when you want him to. God is always on time. Pray without cease. Always put God first. I'm a firm believer in what Luke 11:9. I'm a living witness to this verse Amen.
  • R. Carlson on Luke 11 - 9 years ago
Our Great God of love and mercy gave all who seek the greatest gift of all by sending us the greatest person who ever walked the planet, Jesus the Christ who became our greatest friend of all IF we love Him more than our sins and repent of these sins and by faith receive Him as our Saviour. Great truth here in Luke. Sad so many are to busy to care about their eternity. Happy New Year and remember Jesus is coming....

    Vs 24,25,and 26
Remind us that turning over a new lease and just deciding to go to church, and start living Godly has its terrible payout. A person must be under conviction and realize and admit I am a sinner. There is enough power in the word of GOD to clean a man up but will not last. Read John 6:44 the drawing is the HOLY SPIRIT. You cannot just get saved anytime you want, the SPIRIT draws amen.
  • Danny on Luke 11 - 9 years ago
the whole prayer is important we need to acknowledge who we are talking to. have you ever been talking thinking that you are talking to someone you know just to find out it is someone else. but you would think that VS 4 would be in the second part of the prayer and not the last, or could it be the Lords way of saving the best part for last, good things come to those who wait.
  • Hubert on Luke 11:13 - 9 years ago
The gift of the Holy Spirit, is the gift of eternal life. John 7 38-39 Rivers of living water. Spake he of the Holy Ghost. John 4 7-14 The gift of God, Living water. Romans 6 23 gift of God. Acts 8 20. The gift of God. All this is talking about the gift of eternal life and the gift of the Holy Ghost, it 's all the same thing.
  • Lilian on Luke 11 - 9 years ago
We must fix our eyes to Jesus first so that there will be light in all of our body. Jesus is the light of the world and we must obey his words and commandments. We must keep thanking God and praising him all the time for he loves us all the time and his goodness and mercy is always with us. Amen
  • Julia on Luke 11:2 - 9 years ago
That bothers me also! "for Thine is the power and the kingdom and the glory forever " is a crucial part of this prayer and it breaks my heart to see it omitted disregarded

2 And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. 3 Give us day by day our daily bread. 4 And forgive us our sins for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Jesus taught us how to Pray, Prayer is very important in our Daily lives. this is the time we are talking to God and we allow Him to Work in us.
