Bro Dan Again no mind games like you were what scripture says. For me every day is sabbath i.e.

worshipping God. I never twisted anything the Apostle Paul was accused of the same thing.

    Hi Rick,

Sorry if I misunderstood you. You stated in a previous post: "Jesus Christ put an end to the old law".

I agree with you that we do not have to follow the old ceremonial laws of the old testament. Many people today also try to include God's Ten Commandments in the old testament ceremonial laws - the ten commandments last until heaven and earth pass - this per Jesus! Hopefully we agree on this.

We are under grace, but that doesn't relieve us and Israel (we are all the Church now) from adhering to God's Ten commandments, and if we are walking in God's Holy Spirit we should be in conformance with all of God's laws. Yes, when I say commandments, it includes all ten commandments.

I agree, that if we follow these 2 commandments - Love God, and Love our neighbor - we should also be following the other commandments - by default! Since Jesus said that all of the commandments and God's laws hang on those two commandments. If we are coveting, committing, adultery, lying, stealing, or breaking any other commandments - then we are not following the 2 most important commandments - we are sinning!

We can play mind games, or we can adhere to the word of God.

    Happy Sabbath Day!
  • Bro dan - In Reply on Luke 13 - 2 years ago
    Hi Grace,

The Holy Sabbath Day has always been observed from Friday night sunset - until Saturday night sunset.

Since the Sabbath encompasses almost the whole day of Saturday, it is referred to as being on Saturday. Saturday being the last day of the week, it is the day God rested from creation, and it is the day that God gave us to rest, pray, give thanks, fellowship, and to help others.

God created us and knows us better than anyone. Those that don't keep the Sabbath as instructed by God are missing all the benefits that a day of rest and prayer, and many other wonderful blessings to many to list. Jesus is correct, it really is a GIFT from God to mankind.

Today is the Sabbath, so wishing you well on this blessed day!

    God Bless

Bro Dan I understand everything you commented on, that we the Church not Israel are not under the law

but under Grace. This is age of Grace the church I implore you to Read Romans -thessalonians addressed to

the Church of God in the Administration of Grace. I didn't write the Book. God Bless Never said what you shared

    is all wrong.
  • Rick - In Reply on Luke 13 - 2 years ago
Bro Dan Never said he did away with the ten commandments I said the there is one that covers all,

remember the sabbath was made for man not men for the sabbath . Not my words Jesus Christ also the

walk is supposed to be twenty four seven by the spirit where there is no law but the law of Love. Show

me the sabbath day before the ten commandments were given, the patriarchs were righteous in Gods

eyes before the written law. The Royal commandment is Love God with all your heart, soul ,mind, strength

ans love thy neighbor as thy self on these are all the law and prophets. I didn't write the book.

My comment should say without "holiness" no man shall see God.

When I use voice texting, even after proofreading, I still find errors after hitting send. Sorry.
  • Grace - In Reply on Luke 13 - 2 years ago
I agree that the 10 Commandments have not been done away with because God said if you love me you'll keep my Commandments. And if we do away with the Sabbath day commandment, then why would the other nine matter? The Bible also says without holding a no man shall see God. As for me I am still trying to figure out when the Sabbath is. I think it might be Friday night into Saturday night but I'm not positive. But that is the day that I am choosing to keep. I am not a Seventh-day Adventist. I am a Bible believer.
  • Bro dan - In Reply on Luke 13 - 2 years ago
    Hi Brother Fred,

You are right, as Christ Followers, we are to keep God's Ten Commandments/Law per the bible scripture.

Those that truly love Jesus we will hear his voice:

    John 14:15

"If ye love me, keep my commandments."

    God Bless.
  • Bro dan - In Reply on Luke 13 - 2 years ago
    Brother Rick,

I say this with love, and also for others that are seeking the truth. Jesus absolutely did not do away with the 10 Commandments/Law, including the Holy Sabbath Day, Saturday.

    Jesus states:

    John 14:15

"If ye love me, keep my commandments."

Jesus knows who loves him, because they will keep his commandments. Many people don't even try to keep God's commandments because it doesn't facilitate their worldly lifestyle. We have to ask ourselves this important question: Do we let our lifestyles guide us, or God's words?

    Jesus said: Matthew 16:25

"For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it." Do you believe this scripture?

    Matthew 24:35

"Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away."

So are you saying that Jesus words in John 14:15, and Matthew 24:35,have passed away?

    Hebrews 13:8

"Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever."

Are you saying that Jesus Christ changed? His words no longer matter?

Jesus death on the cross and the new covenant does not erase the Ten Commandments/Law. Please read what God tells us about the new covenant and the law:

    Hebrews 8:10

"For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:"

God is telling us he will put his laws into our minds, and our hearts! Do you believe this? This scripture is very important: Matthew 5:18 "For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled." Do you believe this scripture?

The scripture is very clear, and easy to understand. We can't change the scripture, but many try to ignore or twist it into a puzzle that doesn't even make sense.

    Read it and believe it!

    God Bless

Sorry I didn't finish my thoughts completely on my posts: when trying to jump in & start observing the Sabbath I realized it wasn't just an easy decision. There is a bigger message. I quoted earlier many scriptures. It's very significant to GOD or it wouldn't be mentioned so much in Old & New Testament.

    Is it pointing to CHRIST?

Hebrews 4:8-10, Is observing the Sabbath pointing to being ready for eternity? Hebrews 4:11,

    Hebrews 4:12-16

I also noticed it says 'nor your laborers' one major thing I've observed which now saddens me is how often many will observe their own "Sabbath" either Saturday or Sunday or HOLYday/Holiday & flood into restaurants etc. overwhelmingly, then mistreat the "laborers" for example making them prepare meal while they "rested" or "worshipped", complaining about waitstaff not being attentive (while they have more people groups attending), or when 30 additional people arrive & certain favorite food isn't available. then they wonder why their "congregations" doesn't grow? If we could only get the bigger message! Jesus was directing us to LOVE, HE cares about the fatherless & widow. Example Mothers' Day: how often does the beloved Mothers get treated to meal or services 'out' being served by single 'Mothers of Fatherless children' whom GOD loves? James 1:27,

There is much to discuss & learn on this subject, I hope these were helpful to you.

Hi Fred Part of Jesus Christ ministry was to fulfill all the law and the prophets and part of that was

the judean law of the sabbath, remember something here, Jesus Christ ministry was originally to the lost

sheep of the House of Israel which was stated to the samaritan women before he healed her child. Also

many people that were healed he told them to go to the temple to give thanks to God according to the

law. The Jews rejected there Messiah, thanks to their unbelief he became every ones saviour that believes

in Him after the day of pentecost the age of grace started and once again man could walk and talk with God 24/7

the original intent Genesis. God Bless
  • Mishael - In Reply on Luke 13 - 2 years ago
They were all Jewish. But if you read along in the Gospels you'll see Jesus healed people and pulled donkeys out of the ditch on Sabbath on the way to church.

The Pharisees were so steeped in the law, that it was this that they used to accuse Jesus of blasphemy. That and saying he was the Son of God.

God said: when our work week startson the 7th day we rest; attend Church, enjoy family.

Our culture used to work Mon-Fri. Some work Mon-Sat. Nowadays, people's work weeks may be shifts that go from SUNDAY-FRIDAY.

Some people have to be on-call 7 days a week to earn a living; but they are Christians and love God with all their heart!

I think God would more disturbed by critical, condemning, Pharisee-Religious Spirit folks who browbeat the down-trodden with. Shame on them.

In my years of street ministry, I invited complete strangers to my Home__for spaghetti dinners and a brief Bible study and prayer for FAVOR WITH WORK/Employers.

    Gods heart is Mercy.

Then Why Did Jesus Keep It Or Even The Disciples
  • Rick - In Reply on Luke 13 - 2 years ago
Carmela Absolutely not I know many a christian who's Job including my daughters works on sunday

and if this is challenged look at Colossians 2:13-18 we are judged by the word and Jesus Christ put

an end to the old law, that meaning we worship God twenty four seven in our walk bu the spirit

and fellowship or get together with other believers when we can. The sabbath was made for man not

man for the sabbath, a man we all consider Kings of Kings said that.
  • T. Levis - In Reply on Luke 13 - 2 years ago
I felt led to add. Years ago, I actually tried to observe the Sabbath as a Christian who never had beforehand. I learned much

    1. to observe a Sabbath: you really have to plan

2 someone has to prepare beforehand

    3. Shop for things beforehand

    4. It opened my understanding of the scripture & GOD's compassion

Here are multiple scriptures on the Sabbath :

    Genesis 2:2,3 (set Sabbath apart), Exodus 16:19-30 (significant differece on Sabbath) , * Exodus 23:11, Exodus 20:11 (blessed & set apart), * Exodus 23:12, Exodus 31:15, Exodus 34:21, Exodus 35:2, Leviticus 16:29-34 (atonement), Leviticus 23:1-10, (seventh day & Passover), * Leviticus 23:21-22, Leviticus 23:27-29 (atonement), Leviticus 23:28-32, * Deuteronomy 5:14, 2 Chronicles 2:4 (forever to Israel), * Isaiah 1:11-18, * Isaiah 56:1-8, * Isaiah 58:6-14,

    Jesus observed Matthew 12:8, Mark 1:21, Mark 6:2, Mark 15:42, Luke 4:16,

    Jesus set examples on Sabbath * Matthew 12, * Mark 2, * Mark 3, * Luke 6, & many more.

    * please note the (*s) these were scriptures that showed compassion & the importance to GOD. (Opposite: Luke 11:42-46 hypocrisy)

By observing the Sabbath do we= Matthew 25:31-46,

  • Philip Christian Parks on Luke 13 - 3 years ago
"Strive to enter in at the strait {narrow} gate; Lu. 13:24 (cp. Mt. 7:13-14) =

CHRIST used the present tense, imperative verb "strive" to describe the Christian's vigorous and strenuous struggles fraught with many temptation, difficulties. and dangers while living the daily Christian life. "Striving" certainly implies ever-present spiritual zeal, for "Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof" ( Mt. 6:34b). Of special interest, the Greek noun rendering of the verb translated into "strive" is (pronounced "ag-ONE"), and from which the English language derives the noun "agony".

    Luke 13;3,5

The word 'Repent' means a lot more than what people by nature have been conditioned to believe. It is the key principle of all the teachings of Jesus Christ and the axiom (basis) of the Word of God and a prerequisite and primary requirement for the salvation of mankind. It actually means the changing of spirits - to turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God ( Acts 26:18).

For a better understanding and the 'spiritual truth' of what it means to repent, and learn how and by whom mankind has been deceived ( Rev. 12:9) and what people must do to be reunited with the true and living God, we invite you to seek Him according to the Spirit of truth ( Matthew 7:7; John14:17).

You need not that any man teach you ( Isaiah 54:13; 6:45; 1 John 2:27), as mankind follows after an image of a false god and a false Christ ( Matthew 24:24; Mark 13:22; Gal. 4:8; 2 Cor. 11:13-15; Rev. 12:9).

It is only by revelation of God that you will come to know Christ ( Daniel 12:4,9; Amos 3:7; Matthew 16:17; Luke 2:26; Romans 16:25; 1 Cor. 2:10; Gal. 1:16; Eph. 3:3,5; Rev. 1:1) and only then will you be able to overcome the spirit of this world ( 1 John 5:4; Rev. 3:21).

Ps Gill, greetings in the Lord's Name. I wonder whether we have met: your name seems familiar. I was leading the OM Team in Karachi in 1988-90 staying in a flat with my team off Shahrah-e-Faisal Rd, Nursery. Though we weren't aware of the Naveed-e-Noor ministry at that time; you might have served elsewhere. You may know of our dear (young) Pakistani brother, Shahid Waris, as he was there in Karachi serving with other teams over the years: he was well known amongst the Churches there though I had lost contact with him soon after we left. We were able by the Lord's mercies to do some good work over that time, but that resulted in us being expelled out of the country - so the ministry was cut short.

But my heart & prayers continue to go out to that special, needy land & will lay up your work before the Throne of Grace. Khudawand Yesu Masih apko barkat de.

The faith in the words of Christ apply to all that believe, both jew and gentile, rich and poor, bond and free. The gate is the entering into the kingdom of God. This kingdom is promised to those that watch, lets not take for granted the signs of the times, that Jesus Christ may come when we least expect Him! He may send his angels when we least , his word abides in those who look for Him.Let the word into your soul and have free course, like yeast in flour. It will grow. Plant that smallest seed in your heart. You will become fractal to everyone you love. To him that hath shall be given! This is the revelation of the Jesus that died for us! This all because of HIM!
