Thank u "The Day of Pentecost and Following". It was refreshing to hear Katrina & The Waves - Walking On Sunshine (Official Video) :D.
1 Thessalonians Chapter 1:Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:
2 Grace unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;
4 So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:
5 Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:
6 Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you;
7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;
10 When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.
11 Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:
12 That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
I hand over the Word as it also says what has been enlightened to me, I am only a living proof of God's great Grace. And need so much much more, as darkness eats up the lights of people we love.
Good post. I was just reading in the gospels about the time between the resurrection and the ascension. Jesus made sure that the disciples had all of the instruction they needed to begin the ministry He was calling them to do when He returned to heaven. I noticed that, even though Thomas doubted the reports from his disciple friends, he believed when he met Jesus again alive. He said, "My Lord and My God." Now that is the exclamation of a believer! So glad that was recorded. Jesus meets us in our doubts and weakness and gives us what is needed, as He did for Thomas. He loved him.
The Day of Pentecost and Following - In Reply on Luke 18 - 2 years ago
Y'all need a music video break :D. Jesus loves us lots.
Jesus knew that on the Day of Pentecost. The Holy Spirit would fill the Disciples with the in-dwelling of the Holy Spirit. They would have to get used to hearing Jesus, through their born again spirits. :D
There's a song I like that gets all the blood pulsing: by Katrina and the Waves, "Walking on Sunshine". But I'm thinking, SONshine.as in Jesus! I think it could be a Sunday praise song that would fully wake up Everyone!! [ switch out baby baby TO Lord Lord Lord]
The Disciples were mourning; tripping into doubts, messed up. Then Jesus pops in and says HI YALL, why the long faces?
They went from flatline to " the sky's the limit", in a heartbeat (well except Thomas) :/
Let's work on that. They saw Jesus and from that day forward, they heard Jesus.
If we are not hearing Him loud and clear, it may take some humbling, sitting silently in the prayer closet and turn up the volumn on your listening.
I went through a couple of years of not hearing anything! I was so spoiled that I did not know what to do to make Him talk to me! What happened is I conquered doubts, loneliness, my life of betrayals I had suffered, broken dreams of how my life had imploded, and more. I was delivered from stuff I had long thought buried.
The Divine Romance was restored. I am His, and He is Mine. Song of Solomon. He belongs to all of us.
I was responding to what you said in your post. "They had no spiritual understanding of what he was communicating until they were born again at Pentecost." The text does not say that they were born again at Pentecost. They were believers before Pentecost and were gathered together as Jesus instructed, praying and praising God. In John 20:22J, Jesus breathed on them and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit." The Holy Spirit does not indwell un-regenerated people.
I believe that what Jesus spoke happened at that moment. What happened at Pentecost was another work of the Holy Spirit that happens after conversion.
You and others have repeatedly spoken that salvation comes when one confesses with one's mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead. I am pretty sure that the disciples had done this as a result of their experience with the risen Lord before He ascended. The Scripture nowhere says that an experience such as at Pentecost is the means of salvation. It is what God brings to already regenerated persons
So, for me, I believe that Jesus gave the disciples the teaching and understanding they needed to believe the gospel and take the gospel to the world prior to His ascension. The power to perform miracles, speak in tongues, and to be courageous in the face of opposition and persecution came at Pentecost. That is my point in responding to what you pointed about these disciples. You spoke as if you knew for sure that they were unsaved prior to Pentecost because, I believe as you seem to imply that that experience is the means of salvation rather than that in Romans 10, that you have often cited as the means of salvation.
Therefore, I understand what you said about the natural and spiritual man. You assumed that the disciples were not reborn and therefore had not a spiritual man in them. I contend that they did. I think Jesus was more than able to accomplish all that was needed in is disciples before He ascension. God Bless.
You cannot possibly say you know what the apostles knew and understood before Pentecost. The Scripture said that Jesus expounded the Scriptures fro Mosrs on to that present time, teaching them and equipping them to be ready to preach the gospel when the Spirit empowered them at Pentecost.
I just don't think we are in a place to evaluate what the apostles knew and understood.
Only Jesus knew that.
These men were by far heads above most of us, having walked with Jesus for three years and having met with Him repeatedly between the resurrection and Ascension. I don't think Jesus was ineffective in His teaching nor without the power to effect understanding in th before Pentecost. These men went on to be martyred. We've got nothing on them, in my opinion
Does God Still Heal People Today - In Reply on Luke 18 - 4 years ago
This is the Commentary, from this website:
35-43 This poor blind man sat by the wayside, begging. He was not only blind, but poor, the fitter emblem of the world of mankind which Christ came to heal and save. The prayer of faith, guided by Christ's encouraging promises, and grounded on them, shall not be in vain. The grace of Christ ought to be thankfully acknowledged, to the glory of God. It is for the glory of God if we follow Jesus, as those will do whose eyes are opened. We must praise God for his mercies to others, as well as for mercies to ourselves. Would we rightly understand these things, we must come to Christ, like the blind man, earnestly beseeching him to open our eyes, and to show us clearly the excellence of his precepts, and the value of his salvation.
Commentary by Matthew Henry, 1710.
In this scripture a blind man persisted and was cured of blindness by Jesus.
In the Harmony of the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John): people were healed or cured of all manners of sickness, disease, blind, deaf, mute, demon possessed, sexual sins, etc.
He had meetings and fed thousands of people and the Bible says He healed the whole crowd. The crowds' Faith level was so strong, that they all got healed. Wow!
All we have to do is reach out and touch Jesus, with our Faith, in Jesus's ability to heal and deliver. Even now. In feeding on scripture: taking it into ourselves (spirit), our faith is going rise up to be able to receive what we ask for.
If we ask according to the known Will of God, we will be healed. Confess confidence instead of doubt and insecurity.
If a little "voice" says: you don't have enough faith, you drink beer or smoke (accuses)....that's Satan trying to wreck your Faith. "You don't read the Bible", any kind of accusation. Step over that and walk towards the Lord with your FAITH in Jesus's willingness to save, baptize with The Holy Spirit, and heal.
Luke Chapter 18 is regarding wealth and it can effect people's faith in God. Also, the faith as a christian should not be based on money or being wealthy. Jesus,told a wealthy man to distribute his wealth to poor people. At first the wealthy man was reluctant, but was had a sense of satisfaction from seeing how is wealth had helped poor people to live better lifes.
God's word always gives me healing and comfort. I'd be willing to save $1000 in A savings account and buy as many Bibles as I could with that amount of money so that more people could have God's word in their homes and in their cars and hospitals and dental offices.
Verse 42 And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath SAVED thee.--How many did Jesus save while on earth (not sure) but many. -- Matthew 9:6 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.
John 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
Luke 16:16 The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it. -17 And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.
1-43, JESUS stress how important it is to PRAY, PRAY, PRAY. Yes JESUS heal where applicable above also in 2020, BUT note how JESUS mind stay on HIS primary duty which is to provide SALVATION for us. JESUS know John 3:16-21 very well.
Let's not leave out the fact Jesus bore the sins of all humanity, so when he died and rose from the grave, our sins remained in the grave. In order for Jesus to intercede and redeem us, he had to live the life of man and overcome sin, that through his blood and sacrifice, he is the only one that is able to save us. "I am the way, the truth and the life, no man cometh unto the father but by me." John 14:6 - This is why we pray to God "In the name of Jesus". I pray you gain understanding, and BELIEVE on him.
Jesus has the opportunity to tell this man; Verse 18th-22nd First let me die and after that., just believe on my blood and you shall be Saved. Jesus is not your Savior! The God of Israel is yoiur savior. Read St John5:30 1st Sentence;SJ 14:10 and SJ 5:43 Read
Our Saviour Jesus Christ perform a multitude of wonderful miracles for the benefit of mankind during his ministry on this Earth yet he never made a single poor man rich!
Jim What's a ghost from God? A ghost is a spirit. A ghost from God is The Holy Spirit. Sometimes called the Holy Ghost. If you are saved, it the spirit lets you know what is good and what is evil. There is a tree in the garden of Eden called the tree of good and evil, if any ate from it, they would know what is good and what is evil. Same thing as the Holy Ghost.
How sad how many pharisees we have today have there own selfrighteous tring to get to god by some other other instead of the only mediator between god and man our lord jesus christ. so many are going to hell without true saving faith in the finished work of the cross. religion or salvation which have you. most have religion not salvation. acts 4-12. praise the lord i deserved hell but he saved me
i think all these things are to remind us not to think too highly of ourselves. God is in control and we find strength in weakness when we put our trust in Him. He knows our frame..try to be humble and teachable.

observe the power of God on display I.E. you have seen me have seen the work of the Father!
