I have heard sermons on Zacchaeus. The thing that first comes to mind is his stature, but the real lesson in the account is the size of his heart. Many teaching in the bible (mainly old testament) center around giving a tenth of your increase or income). Zacchaeus gave 1/2 of his goods (I take that to mean net worth). That is a vast difference in giving, but the most remarkable teaching in the account is that Jesus never asked him to give anything. It came to his mind on his own and he voluntarily gave 1/2 of his net worth. "The Lord loveth a cheerful giver"
Jesus's call to Zacchaeus was his call to all of us. Christ bearing His longing to fellowship with us. For He longs to take us into the deep intimate place,, so that our eternal encouragement can be realized and His will be can be completed and secured. Then we can grow in the knowing of how utterly we are in Him.
My prayer is that we will always continue in His blessings for us.
A fruit is a fruit, and a gift is a gift. In many other Jesus's parables, is presented the need to look upon Jesus and proceed according with His moral Principles in agreement with God's Character. In virgins's parable, Jesus uplifts the need to search and look for the Holy Spirit, symbolised by the oil in the lamp. The lamp is the mind and all it's needs, cognitive, emotional, social and spiritual, wich must be filled in order to give light by Holy Spirit's presence in the individual chrystian mind, to prepare that person and the others around him for the second coming of Christ.
On this talent's parable, Jesus points to the need for witnissing to others, because if not , they will perish, and God will require their blood from us as negligent servants. In order to do that, we need to have faith in Jesus, as He has Faith and comunion with His Father. The exercise to increse my Chrystian faith, is by witnissing to others about Jesus Faith.
Whosoever, doesn't cherish Jesus's comunion by prayer, asking for His Spirit to forgive and love our neighbor, and be able to witness to him, is in peril of spreading away God's gifts.
Faith in Jesus, is the First and the most important gift, because it's by faith, that we receive the Holy Spirit's Power, to be able to witness to other fellowmen. men!
We have received our present existence without asking, but as we have a mind, with free wil, we are acountable for what use we make of our brain and time gifts. Jesus called his disciples to come and rest on a solitary place, and we are not requested to wor without cessing neither to rest without cessing.
God loved so much the world meaning us, that He sent His Begotten Son to show us the way and it's resonable expecting we do the best on our individual capacity, to follow Jesus's exemple. Jesus gives us a lot and asks just our possible, that is done from all heart, soul and mind, litle by litle every day and every moment until He comes.
We are to continue to live our lives the right way , meaning God's way .Have trust ,faith. Always with prayer ,study ,share ,try to do the best we can,no matter what the time it takes ,what efforts it takes ,or how it is received, or if you are met well or ridiculed at every turn .Be comforted by God ,be protected by God ,be loved by God as he is a loving God . No matter how tired you may feel. Be prepared. We don't know the time or when , but Jesus is coming. May God bless everyone !
Jesus, in this passage, identifies Zaccheus as a 'son of Abraham' - but which one?
Abraham had two sons, Ishmael (the son by works, who was cast out) and Isaac (the son of promise) by faith. It is the second, Isaac, and Jesus also says that 'this day, salvation has come to this house' ie Zaccheus has been born again - evidenced by his change of heart/lifestyle.
This was Jesus' mission to the Jews, and ultimately, the entire world, to show them the necessity for spiritual rebirth in order to be right with God. This is why he told Nicodemus (a teacher of the law) 'You must be born again'.
Jesus told the woman at the well, 'Those who worship God must worship Him in spirit and in truth' - this can only happen when a person is 'born of the spirit' i.e. is born again.
Luke 19:27 is a warning to those who would oppose Jesus Christ. The parable illustrates Jesus ascension to his Father's throne until the time he returns to establish his kingdom. In verse 14 he said, "But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us." Likewise most of our world stands in rebellion against the coming Lord and King Jesus Christ.
Psalm 2 prophesies, "Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel." (v2:9) and, "Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him." (v2:12)
I recently returned to reading my Bible again and I appreciate the way you break down the Chapter explaining each Verse. I raised was as a Christian with my Grandmother and I believe in Elohim and that his Son Yashua did for our sins an in these last days I live for him.
I intend to get baptised as soon as I can regardless of this lockdown.
May Elohim continue to bless you in Yashua's name.
Aside from Luke 19:13, where does it say to live our lives, bury the dead, and continue on until Christ comes back? Meaning, we should not put life on hold... we still have to work, learn, witness, etc.
The virus is a diversion for the antichrist who comes before the Lord Jesus and the great revival to save many souls.God bless everyone keep the faith put on the armour of God the battle is closer than ever before.
Hi, Pastor, I'm a sheep. In response to your comment & questions. I picture Jesus over turning the tables Matthew 21:12 , I believe it wasn't just for that day. Matthew 21:13 , TODAY some ''Churches'' have books, merchandise, purchasable resources, purchasable Bible studies, expensive retreats, concerts etc. It is very difficult for some people to afford these, therefore leaving several out of the ''family'' events. James 1:27
When someone is in need, they have no choice to be in subjection to usury or do without. Matthew 25:31-46
I hope this is helpful & opens your heart to another perspective.
If you don t give ten five ones it shall be taken away. If you give and put from thou bank you shall get ten pounds. Loose the colt and bring him to Jesus. 30 Saying, Go ye into the village over against you in the which at your entering ye shall find a colt tied, whereon yet never man sat: loose him, and bring him hither. And when he sit on the colt which was never sit on, The colt didn't buck, jump or nothing, he was very calm. I tried riding a horse once, bare back. He left me between the heaven and the earth and I landed on my butt.
Banks have probably been around a very long time, because people had coins as currency then and needed a place to securely store it so it wasn't robbed.

Maryanne. This is a parable which is a earthly story with a heavenly meaning. Jesus is saying everyone is given one life. What are we doing with it? Are we keeping it to ourselves - in which case we gain nothing- or are we living for God and gaining spiritual rewards. It has nothing to do with men killing men
43 For the days SHALL come upon thee, that thine enemies shall 'Cast a Trench' about thee, and 'Compass Thee round', and 'Keep Thee IN' 'on Every Side'; and SHALL 'Lay Thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation. (Wow! Wow! Wow!)
True Believers will Suffer: We Must Through Much Tribulation Enter into The Kingdom of God( Acts 14:22) It's Been Going on for 2000 Yrs/ 50 Countries on The Other side of the Planet, Arrest,Torture,Kill Believers Daily. In The US not so much as long as We Just go to Church, go home watch TV "Our Real GOD". Now it's our Phone or Anything that Draws You Away/ Preach The Gospel = Persecution.
I do not understand, and a friend says this as cruel as Islam beheading those that won't covert. He is saying it is as evil. Please help me with this. Thank you.
Verse 8~Zacchaeus showed that he was truly repentant by trying his back to right the wrong he had committed. True repentance involves us not only changing our thinking but also trying to correct any wrongs if we can.
"he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee." Jesus defines that precept in Matthew."But I say unto you that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words, thou shalt be condemned." Matt. 12:36-37. James defines the 'tongue' problem in James 3:1-12. Be careful how you speak.
I agree with Servant of God's thoughts. We must not be deceived by religious and political leaders whose principles go contrary to biblical principles. Too many people today turn a blind eye to ungodly actions of our leaders. Matthew 7:20 states, by their fruits ye shall know them. And Proverbs 16:18 declares that pride goeth before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall. Take heed.
Zac. was the chief politician of his day. But he was just, by his own confession and was worthy that Jesus should come into his house. Fast forward and what is the message of the chief politian? Shameful! Yet does the church support him. Jesus would not, I assure you for he knew the heart of man by his words and deeds.this is important as our nation is in jeopardy for the abundance of lies today
Thank U G.Goodman for your truthful comment u are so right God sent his Son Jesus to die for us but we must want to be saved u see Jesus cannot make us be saved because he gave us free will from the beginning before we were born Jesus knew those that would come when he call them to himself.u see no one can come to Jesus unless he draw them then he have to open your spiritual ears.
FOR THE SON OF MAN CAME TO SEEK FOR THOSE WHO ARE LOST. JESUS IS THE GOOD SHEPHERD WHO LAID DOWN HIS LIFE FPR HIS SHEEP. ONLY BELIEVE THAT JESUS IS THE SON OF THE LIVING GOD OUR SAVIOR JEHOVA JIREH THE LORD MY PROVIDER SHALOM

Love and Peace, little children!!!
We are to be diligent in our walk with the Lord. He desires us to come to know Him more deeply and surely. May this be so for all of us here.
