This is medically possible if one is under great mental duress. When this happens it causes the capillaries to open up and you sweat blood. You have to remember his father was showing him what he was going to go through. Jesus's death had to be of his own freewill. That is why he asked his father " to take this cup from me, not my will but thine be done" . Jesus was so tortured that he was unrecognizable as a man. We read this in psalm 22 which describes his crucifixion. He says I am no more a man I am a worm. This worm that he refers to was used to dye clothes scarlet. He was so beaten for 24 hours that he was unrecognizable. This is why that had to get one Simon of Cyrene to carry his cross. You have to read all the gospels to price together and get a full picture of his crucifixion. I hope this helps, and may God bless you in your thirst for knowledge and understanding.
The text detailing the agony of Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane does say that. I am not sure of the Greek rendering, maybe Giannis can help us with this text.
Dear Sylvia. This same controversy takes place in many congregations
"And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was "as it were" great drops of blood falling down to the ground."
So my opinion is that His sweat was "like they were big drops of blood", not actually drops of blood, how can that be anyway? Jesus in His agony was sweating a lot and continiously. GBU
Recently, I was pondering in my mind with the LORD about this account & I knew there would be a discussion about this. For some of us it's easier to fight, much more difficult to submit to circumstances beyond our control; especially when it's unjust. I relate with Peter. I was thinking how Peter had come to the realization the Jesus was the CHRIST, MESSIAH. Jesus had just said : Luke 22:27-30.
Is there much more knowledge we're supposed to get from this?
Luke 22:36, Luke 22:38, 2 swords enough? Do you think Jesus was being literal or testing them? Do you feel the act of aggregation saved the Disciples? John 18:8-9, ( I've thought that) but look at: John 18:10. "Then._." it seems to be after Jesus had already set their pardon.
Luke 22:40,42, Luke 22:43-46, Matthew 26:36-44, Mark 14:33-39, Zechariah 13:7, ( Mark 14:27 , Matthew 26:56 )

Would we be offended if Jesus healed our enemy, we thought we were defending Him from? Then rebuke them/Peter or us openly? John 18:6, Matthew 26:53,
Luke 22:54, John 18:15, Why did Peter follow? Luke 22:33, Where is our strength? In our flesh & resolve, or GOD & HIS will?

Do you think it was much easier to fight? Matthew 26:41, Luke 22:32,
Verse 35 Jesus was saying how things were when he had been with them. Jesus in Verse 36 tells them he is giving them a change of orders.. (but now let him.. take his money back pack of gear, (i.e. script, where the word conscript comes from for a soldier, con meaning with and script a soliders backpack.) And their sword. Verse 37. He says this because it must be that the profesies about the crusifiction (numbers among the transgressors.. i.e. the thieves on either side of him on the cross) must be fufilled and this is his marching orders of how he wants us to be as we fulfill the great commission that he gave before he left. Sadly many Christian no longer follow Jesus Christ commandments to carry cash, backpack first aid and survival gear, and a sword (pistol or personal defences weapon/rifle etc) when every they go anywhere. I wonder how many people needlessly died because of disobeance of Christians unable to help those in need or heathen where provoked and encouraged to sin by attacking Christian's because following this command isn't common place. When old testament saints did this in Nehemiahs day agression and attacks were averted.
Hi Beverly Campbell. Jesus was telling them that he was going to be crucified and taken. That the disciples would have to go to battle spiritually with the word which is sharper than any two edged sword.
Hebrews 4:12 says, "For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." ... His Word is the ultimate truth, and we can find confidence in knowing it is our greatest weapon.
Mark 14:30-53, Mark 14:38, Mark 13:35-37, Mark 14:27, Mark 14:47, * John 18:4, John 18:4-13, * John 18:9-10, did Peter have to show they knew how to fight to accomplish this? Was the presence of the swords enough? Matthew 26:31-56, Luke 22:31-32, Luke 22:40, Luke 22:49, did Peter react out of pressure & fear & fleshly assumption? Luke 22:50-54, moments before, HE, Jesus had reminded them while with HIM, they lacked nothing Luke 22:35, was it the test? How Peter would react; if he would trust in his sword or GOD ALMIGHTY? did Jesus say about the swords because HE already knew, there was already swords with them? Then said it was enough when there were only 2? Luke 22:28,

Wesley's Notes for Luke 22:38
Here are two swords - Many of Galilee carried them when they travelled, to defend themselves against robbers and assassins, who much infested their roads. But did the apostles need to seek such defence? And he said; It is enough - I did not mean literally, that every one of you must have a sword.
People's Bible Notes for Luke 22:38
Here [are] two swords. How they come to be in their possession is not told. It is enough. This is a dismissal of the subject, not a warrant for their use. That was rebuked when Peter resorted to one ( Mt 26:52-54).
He didn't mean the crucifixion , he was pleading for people of the last days an the wrath , for he knows there will be so many that are deceived, an they're not going to be in good spiritual shape ,.. even on the cross itself he quoted scripture,.. he truly taught, right to that 9 th hour ,.. always keeping us , in mind , an loving ways
I agree with you and Chris it is not spiritual swords. They would not need physical swords, the Holy Spirit would lead and protect them until their mission was fulfilled and as you said, most all of them, just like Jesus told them, they were beaten, put in prison, and were killed. The actual reason for Jesus asking them to buy swords was to fulfill a prophecy. He told them in,
Luke 22:37 For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end.
( Isaiah 53:12) Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
Hello Dgjot. I believe you're correct in understanding that Jesus wasn't speaking of spiritual swords but actual swords. If He was speaking of spiritual swords, then His Words to His disciples would be meaningless as they were clearly instructed to purchase swords. Jesus would have been inferring that in their future ministry (after they received Holy Ghost power), their life of faith would be different to what they enjoyed when walking with Him in the present.
When He sent them out to minister to the people, did they lack anything?, He asked. Here was a special intervention & provision given to the twelve in their exercise of faith & power to deliver the burdened & oppressed. They lacked nothing; but now that special grace would be removed (i.e. they would have to exercise faith in different ways: they had to work for a living, they had to confront their opponents with the Power & Grace of Christ, they had to speak as the Spirit gave them utterance, etc.).
So, to purchase swords would not be for their protection in the ministry of the Gospel, but I think, for being equipped in their journey into the unknown farther reaches ("the uttermost parts of the Earth"), where defence against robbers, wild beasts, etc. would require one to have protection. And then we should ask, "Did any of the apostles after Pentecost ever carry swords?" We're not told that they ever did, nor did they ever use one, but I would suspect that they didn't carry swords, rather the Sword of the Spirit. But as the apostles willingly suffered & died for the love of their Saviour, so must we when confronted by the opponents of the Gospel & not offer resistance. But should we venture out amongst the thieves & wild beasts in the world, then being armed maybe the prudent thing to do.
Luke 22:36 (Jesus speaking) 36 "Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one." Key words: SELL & BUY
Matthew Henry, 1710 said "At the time the apostles understood Christ to mean real weapons, but he spake only of the weapons of the spiritual warfare. The sword of the Spirit is the sword with which the disciples of Christ must furnish themselves."
It is also written: Ephesians 6:12
"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."
I think Matthew Henry is wrong on this one. Jesus protected His followers while He was alive. When He was killed, his followers lost their divine protection. Jesus knew they would be persecuted and it seems to me that He was implying that it's okay to defend yourselves when someone is trying to kill you. I know that real followers of Jesus will suffer. The Apostles all died horribly. But those of us that were born AFTER Jesus ascended into Heaven are to walk by faith, not by sight. We weren't there when Jesus was alive and walking the earth. We didn't hear Him speak or see His miracles. Dying for Jesus is one thing. Being a door mat for every infidel/pagan/wicked reprobate to walk on is another thing.
Spiritual swords are for spiritual battles and metal swords are for worldly battles. Did the Jews go to war holding only their holy scrolls or did they use swords and shields of iron??
peter's denial was not at all like the treachery of judas because when christ looked at him at the cock crow he quickly repented as shown by his look of remorse and received grace and this is proven also by christ's foreknowledge and his prayer for peter not to lose faith.
in response to america and biden comment i refer the readers to read the tanakh on is. chapter 18. thehebrews in new york in 1917 translated the hebrew in such a way we can see that america will not lose its blessing for america will bring a present to god which will be the jews at the time the earthly kingdom comes after the tribulation. the kjv says the same but harder to understand. somalia a sea faring nation sends ambassadors to america; the u.n. is at same latitude as somalia; america remains undefeated though largely destroyed. it is made up of tall and glossy people; people who are slick looking like a glossy magazine and is the only nation in the world of significant size divided by so many rivers.
The Book of Revelation is often referred to as the Revelation of Saint John the Divine.
The title of the book can be found in Revelation 1:1
"The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto Him to shew unto His servants things which must shortly come to pass; and He sent and signified it by His angel unto His servant John."
The words of God, given to Jesus, sent and signified by His angel to John.
Interesting point you make explains why through hurricane katrina the usa residents to get relief had to support israel even now with trump they have to sign they support israel for covid_19 payments and why trump made jerusalem the capitol of israel,so your point on israel makes some sense

Remove this cup from me father if it be your will not mine. This tells me Jesus didn't want to go through with it. Asking for another way.
This book has more detail than previous book of Mathew and Mark.
John 6:38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
I'm so glad that JESUS never acted a lie or tried to deceive, he said not MY will but the will of him that sent me.
