Michael, thank you for the word... Your words will bring great comfort to those who will listen. You have spoken clearly in these times of confusion. Growing as the tree in the midst of his vineyard. How wonderful is His blood that will cleanse us all from unrighteousness, will lead us into everlasting life found in Him.
Thank you Michael this comment has been really helpful and for someone new to the TRUTH in following the bible I have taken from your words some guidance that I have asked for.
Taking Charge in your own Growth as a Christian - In Reply on Luke 6 - 3 years ago
My goal has always been to know who Jesus is; what he is like; how he responds to people's questions; arguments. What he is showing us about what we are to be doing. Mainly, becoming a follower of him and his known will. The more we read, study, watch some sermons online or listen to them on the radio. Start in the Gospels, spend extra time in the gospel of John. Follow Jesus's disciples in Acts. Head towards the back of the Bible. The Book of Proverbs gives wisdom. Psalms gives us comfort and information of what God is like. The entire Bible is about Jesus; from cover to cover.
To read Commentaries about a specific chapter & verse: type scripture and verse in Google, then type 'Commentary' or History, if that's what you want to know. I generally pick a commentary from the first 7 listed. Don't be afraid to dig a little. Always compare books to what the Bible says. The Bible is the bottom line TRUTH.
You can always ask questions in this room. The REPLY will be sent to your email.

Personally, I turn off the TV and make time for reading. Get a notebook and take notes. Learn how to sing to the Lord. Most Important: always ask the Holy Spirit to teach you; ask Him questions. He is the Spirit of Christ. Jesus went to the Cross to give the Holy Spirit to us to perfect our learning of Who Jesus is in our life.
Sit still for an hour before the Lord. Pray and then listen. You will grow mightily in understanding. Read Malachi 3:16-18
Every conversation we join in with others, praising And talking about how good God is: is recorded in a book that God reads.
Oh yes, I believe Satan knew full well what the implications of Jesus' death & resurrection would mean to him & to everyone caught in his snare of sin & pursuing sinful lives. But the 'nature of the beast' drives him to put into effect every skill & trick he has to try to out-smart & out-do God's Divine Plan & Power. He knows that ultimately he won't succeed & will be defeated ( Revelation 12:12), but as we say, "he will go down fighting to the very end". That is his nature - that is his singular focus: to keep mankind estranged from their Creator & to be subservient to him, the destroyer of our souls.
Satan knows that the Cross is not some idle, ill-advised plan of God, because He knows the Nature of God, him being once considered as a 'covering Cherub' ( Ezekiel 28:16), which implies his previous position associated with God's Holiness. He knows the Power, Wisdom & Holiness of God, and that his character would always be deficient & defective as a result of his pride, sin & fall. But will that knowledge stop him believing that his greatness is comparable to God, that his wisdom & power can put up a good fight against God's Holiness & that the more he can deceive the World & gather them to himself, will translate to him being the victor? We were not unlike him, as once the children of the devil, how easy it was for us to consider ourselves more superior to others, not as bad sinners as others are, our righteousness will secure Heaven for us, that success in wealth & receiving man's adulation ought to be our present pursuit & enjoyment, etc, etc. The qualities of God & of Satan are diametrically opposed to each other. Our present pursuit, with our renewed minds & spirits, are only towards the things of God & not to the one who came to steal, kill & destroy our lives.
Of Judas: for the sake of prophecy, his actions by Satan's influence had to occur ( Matthew 27:9,10 & Zechariah 11:12,13). By the way, in Jewish reckoning, many prophetical books came under Jeremiah.
Jesus is our rock and the very foundation, were our faith stands. Believe in him, and you will never hungered nor thirst for anything else;except the word of god.Trust in the lord.and the lord will see you through. Comments on Luke 6 chapter.
BSP- I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your comments. I am on day 301 of my Bible Reading in a Year journey and have seen and enjoyed your comments throughout this entire time. I see your comments from not only days or weeks ago but also from several years past. Your comments are not only inspiring but also remind me that my new walk with Christ is ongoing and never ending. God Bless You my new friend!
Patti, How blessed we are to know the love of Christ. Coming to this knowledge in a thankless world can only come from above. The power of the holy spirit in our lives is his grace towards us found in the shed blood of Him you speak of! God bless you in in your journey, while always keeping your eyes and hearing in the cross!
How quiet the world is before the true outcome that is going to happen. Where is the Love of others from their heart as before. I wish l knew. Their minds on their problems or their greed. Waxed cold in these days. Hurting of kids and animals. Selfish love of self. Uncaring feelings of others. Poor Jesus how He must of felt when He walked this Earth. He wanted the best...but got the worse of mankind. Always fighting Satan. Going to the Father for help. He carried on in His days serving others. So strong in His Love for others before His self. Do you know the Strength of True Love when it comes to you? I do..
Jesus showed me long ago...l will never forget it....NEVER!!!
Hi Kenneth, thank you for visiting & writing in here. Yes, growing up in the world, or even in school, as a Christian is very difficult indeed. We have all sorts of temptations & pressures to conform to what the majority do and think & we know that is not what God has planned for His children. When I was 14 yrs old, I too could find no one at school who believed in God & Jesus as I was taught at home - fortunately, my family loved the Lord & brought me up to read the Bible & obey God's directions.
In your time of prayer, ask God to give you some good friends, especially someone who knows Jesus personally. And even with other friends, you can still be the Light that God needs to shine His Love to them - and God puts His Light in so many different places so that people might hear the Good News that Jesus saves us from sin's penalty. Yes, your friends will notice the difference in you & even if they think less of you, your genuine love & friendship for them will show them Who God is & what a true friendship is all about.
So be encouraged Kenneth, stay close to the Lord, read His Word often, & talk to Him when you feel alone or when you are misunderstood by those you care for. He will bless you & use you in special ways - ways that you may not even be conscious of. All that God asks of us His children, is to be His "salt & light" to the world ( Matthew 5:13, 14). But if you feel alone or want to ask a question or have a chat, we would be delighted to see you again. May the Lord bless you richly.
kenneth 14 years old:i am so glad that that there are so many followers of god growing up in jesus christ is hard be cause when you go to school there is no one who believes what you do im glad there are more people out there like me who believe in jesus christ
When we sow seed towards the work of God(Kingdom work). When we sow it not only in faith but in obedience to God's word. Expecting God to get the glory out of our seed. We can expect for God to multiply our seed and give it back unto us in a greater measure.
Sometimes it seems the things that God commands of us are impossible (like loving your enemy), but He wants us to trust Him (without faith it is impossible to please God) to do the impossible. We shouldn't avoid malicious, evil people; we should count it all joy that we have an opportunity to do what God has called us to do. We understand that God is in control and He will fight our battles; vengeance is mine says the Lord! We must do what He tells us to do and then we will get HIS reward. When we act according to the flesh them we will get OUR reward according to the flesh.
"Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you".We must conceive of the words, Luke 6:27 and Luke 6:28, as having been pronounced with some kind of enthusiasm. These precepts overflow with Love. You have only to meet every manisfestation of hatred with a fresh manisfestation of love. Romans 12:21 and Romans 5:8-10 KJV.
I love movie: The Shack: there's a scene where God and this man he's helping are hiking through a forest. God shows him that he needs to forgive the man who murdered his daughter.
The man is sitting there trying to crush a ladybug in his hand, and God leans in and says: its about taking your hands off his neck. The man considers this and slowly opens his hand and lets the ladybug fly away.
It's a beautiful movie about forgiveness. How we blame God for the bad things that happen to us; and how we blame ourselves mercilessly.
It's a theme of Love. God will use your testimony to help others to get free.
I have finally figured out why we are commanded to do this; because it helps us to forgive. Have you ever noticed that when you pray for someone, you feel love for that person, even if you don't know that person? When we pray for those who have hurt us, or continually hurt us, it's not so their hearts will be changed--although I often pray for that. It's not so they will stop hurting us--although I often pray for that. It's so that the love that we automatically feel for people when we pray for them will heal our hearts and help us to forgive. Sometimes we forgive but the hurt and resentment is still there--praying for the person who hurt you helps your heart heal from the pain.
Did Jesus select his disciples prior to his all night pray with God on the mountainside or had He chosen them and was praying for God's devine blessing? Does the bible describe anywhere any of Jesus' requests of God or only that He was seeking His blessing and loved communicating with his Father?
verse 46 above "And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say"? Jesus made this verse Soooo simple it need no interpretation, and thank Jehovah GOD for HIS plan of forgiveness and Salvation through Jesus .

THE END 3 Blessed ARE they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. Confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Behold your God!
