John 19:11;Those who falsely accused HIM will pay for their sin, CHRIST finding no fault in pilot but those who are the false accusers and those who went along with it.
Caiaphas head priest appointed by Romans not GOD; Judas the betrayer delivered to Sanhedrin, Sanhedrin to Pilate; Pilate not innocent but not a murder; CHRIST stating that this was ordained and prophesied for salvation of humanity. All happen just as foretold from even the beginning, 1st prophecy of the Bible.
Thanks Marke, Romans 6:5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: It is important to die (with Christ to ourselves) so that the new life of the Holy Spirit can reign and bring forth fruit to perfection. Romans 8 is a chapter on the work of the Spirit and our need to be led of it. Otherwise we get in the way of God working in us and are carnally minded. Good chance those among the rocks and thorns were professing Christians with shallow conversions (building on sand) Mat. 7:26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
There are three kinds of hearers who never get saved and only one kind of hearer who gets saved.
Luke 8
11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.
12 Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.
13 They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.
14 And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.
15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.
Way side hearers don't give God a second thought.
Those whose seed is received on the rock have no root, which is the Lord Jesus ( Revelation 22:16
I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.)
Those who receive the seed among thorns have no fruit ( Jude 1:12
These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;)
Good ground hearers get saved. They have the root and offspring of David. They have the fruit of the Spirit. And they have the Lord Jesus who will keep them from falling away ( Jude 1:24
Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,)
Since satan is totally evil, we should hate him and all sin and wickedness,
Since humans are not totally evil like devils, we are to love others and minister to them with prayer, the word, and good works that help them, even when they are our enemies, persecute us, wrong us, or do evil.
Matt. 5:43-45
However, we are not to revile Satan or evil powers as even Michael the archangel does not disrespect these beings. Jude : 8-10.
So, we are to speak to them with the authority of Jesus, as Michael did and said: "The Lord rebuke you!"
But I don't think it is right to talk "smack" to any evil being.
Ephesians 2:6 And (God, the Father) hath raised US up TOGETHER (you and Christ) and made us (you and Christ) sit together (become one) in heavenly places.
This is the first death and resurrection (you died with Christ and were raised with Christ).
Revelation 20:6 Blessed and holy is he (you and Christ) that hath part in the first resurrection ....
Matthew 19:6 Therefore they (you and Christ) are no more twain, but ONE FLESH. What therefore God (SPIRIT) hath joined together, let no man put asunder.
Who gave Jesus the cloak that the Roman soldiers cast lots for? Did Jesus mother make it for him? Or was it given to Jesus by the soldiers who flagged him?
The women mentioned here, were able to share what they had with Jesus & His disciples, as they were continually moving about in the ministry with no place to call home. So, most likely food would have been prepared for them & for their journey. And maybe they did some repair work to their clothing, or even supplied some newly sewn clothes or night covering for their needs.
I was wondering if. The letter l has any biblical meaning. When I look at the words world and word there is only one difference and that is the letter l. I know there is a reason for everything and just wondering. Any comments?
If you read what I posted I think it's obvious that Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist to fulfill all righteousness.
Matthew 3:15 "And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him." 16 "And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:"
If you look at the bottom of your previous response, this was in reply to why you questioned, the need for Jesus to be baptized.
these are your words, The question, Why did Jesus need to be baptized is a good question.
In Old Testament, the Jewish people and their ancestors were given the Law to observe. First, What Adam and Eve should observe was that they could not eat the fruits from the tree of wisdom. Then, their son Cain was told that he should not kill. As sins became increased, the laws were also added more. Up to the generation of Moses, the Law in Old Testament was given to Israelites. We know that the Law is good and the Law is used to punish people who commit sins, but people cannot obey the Law because the sinful spirits are in people. Even that we know stealing and giving false testimony are sinful, but greedy and pride spirits in us drive us to do sinful things. So as Old Testament prophesied we need to get rid of our sinful nature from our spirits.
Ezekiel 36 section 24-27 says: "'For I will take you out of the nations; I will gather you from all the countries and bring you back into your own land. I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.
The prophecies are fulfilled when Jesus begins to teach love. The two greatest commandments are " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'" Love is above the Law and if people have love they are free from the law of sin and death. People who are full of love will not think about stealing or giving false testimony but are merciful and they feed hungry people or give thirsty people something to drink or invite strangers in or clothe people who need clothes. The Law is for people who commit sins. Nobody will say that he will get reward because he does not steal before. But love is the grace we get.
Jesus did not come to destroy the law but to fulfill, If you read in Luke he was also circumcised and he didn't need to be, likewise in Matthew, John says that he needed to be baptized of Jesus, but Jesus reply's that all righteousness needs to be fulfilled.
Matthew 5:17 "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil."
Luke 2:21 "And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb."
Matthew 3:11 "I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:"
Matthew 3:13 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him. 14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? 15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him. 16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: 17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
When a person is baptized they confess their sin. And in Matthew we learn Jesus was baptized.
Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist.
Matthew 3:13 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.
14. But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?
15. And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.
16. And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:
Where are you getting "Jesus needed to be baptized or to repent of something"? So you don't believe Jesus Christ lived a sinless life for you and me?
Jesus Christ is completely on a different level than all other people. Even John saying that he needed to be baptized of Him in Matthew 3:14-15. Jesus saying He did it to fulfill all righteousness. Maybe just to humble himself.
So the question really is do you believe Jesus Christ lived a sinless life and was sent by God the Father?
"However, there must have been something he needed to repent of."
Jesus never sinned.
"Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth" 1 Peter 2:22
"For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin" 2 Corinthians 5:21
"And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin." 1 John 3:5
Peter said he didn't, Paul said he didn't and John said he didn't, but you "suppose" he did. In your fifty years of Bible study, have you seen any verse that, states in context, that he sinned?
The "why" has no connection to baptism, as Rod explained to you.
"And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God." Luke: 18:19.
The question was asked why did Jesus need to be baptized? He was not a fornicator. However, there must have been something he needed to repent of.
The original meaning of the word Baptism is to be washed from all the laws written in the book of Leviticus. Baptism is washing one's self from breaking any of those laws. In Matthew 3:6, "And were baptized of him confessing their sins." People are washed by confessing their sins. They are washed by the word of God. By believing the truth.
Lu 3:3 " And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins".
Baptism is confessing your sins. That is what baptism is as stated in Matthew 3:6, "and were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins."
The question, Why did Jesus need to be baptized is a good question.
When you read why Jesus says "Why callest thou me good?", this is a question on Jesus part, in response to a certain ruler's question in regards on how to inherit eternal life, He did not say "don't call me good". two totally different meanings.
Luke 18:16-22 Context 16 But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. 17 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein. 18 And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? 19 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God. 20 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother. 21 And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up. 22 Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.

Tells us:
You who love the Lord, hate evil!
Since satan is totally evil, we should hate him and all sin and wickedness,

absolute disgust that which is evil, cleave to that which is good Gods Word. The challenge is still walking in
the love of God spiritual love we despise the acts of sin but love the unlovable, what a balance! We always
despise the author of sin the devil.
