Hello Howard, this means that when Jesus comes, some will be alive on earth and some will be buried awaiting Jesus's return and will meet him in the air and await judgment. Some people call this event a 'rapture'.

What does it mean in Luke 9:27 Where Jesus said "I tell you there will be some standing that shall not taste of death till they see the kingdom of God" Will not taste of death. But all die

This verse has spoken to me day after day since giving up my life the way it once was. I lived for me... not effort, thought or consideration to God. On September 23rd - (yes, 9:23) I was gifted an opportunity to face my ways and ask God for help. I've been sober since. Should I have kept to my ways, and denied Jesus... I certainly would not be where I am now.

This verse reminds me, life here on earth is but one day at a time. Picking up my own cross, the truth of suffering and seasons of painful deaths of my old ways, as a reminder that the Kingdom of God awaits me and I have the responsibility of carrying my cross like a picket sign to others... to say if you want what I have, here is the way - the only way. The difficulties of earthly life come and go, but each day, as I renew my faith (pick up my cross) I find myself better able to understand what Jesus meant by not having to wait to die, to see heaven here on earth. Luke 9:23-27

In common understanding of the word, it means 'to express a sharp, stern disapproval; to reprove or reprimand'.

The word doesn't appear in Luke 9:21, so I'll give some other Scriptures that show various uses of the word:

    a. Matthew 8:26: Jesus gave out a clear command to the elements.

    b. Matthew 17:18: Jesus issued a Divine authoritative Command against the Devil.

    c. Luke 9:55: Jesus was stern & gave a strong correction to the disciples' ignorance & presumption.

    d. Mark 8:33: Jesus scolded Peter (at least the spirit working in & through him), for challenging the mission that Jesus was on. Peter had (in verse 32) rebuked (challenged) Jesus on that point.

So these few examples might show you how the word 'rebuke' was being used during Jesus' Ministry.

Blessings, Robert, in the Wondrous name of Jesus.

"And he straitly charged them, and commanded them to tell no man that thing;" Luk 9:21 (KJVA)

This happened right after Jesus, who asked His disciples, "Whom say the people that I am?" And Peter replied, "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God."

There is no explicit reason given why Jesus commanded their silence. But the disciples needed to understand who the Messiah really was and exactly what he would do before they were ready to proclaim Jesus as The Christ, The Son of The Living God. But they and the people had an expectation that needed some instruction to be correct.

Even after all the instruction Jesus gave them and three warnings that we was going to have to die, the disciples didn't get it. For instance John records Peter and John running to the tomb after The Resurrection. "Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulchre, and seeth the linen clothes lie, And the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself. Then went in also that other disciple, which came first to the sepulchre, and he saw, and believed. For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead."Joh 20:6-9 (KJVA)

And then at the Ascension. "When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power." Act 1:6-7 (KJVA)

It is likely the man was seeking to gain his inheritance from his dying father. His time would be better spent in the eyes of god spreading the word and saving living souls.

I think what Jesus is saying is, like plowing with a mule you must remain looking forward. Keeping the rows straight, not letting the mule get distracted or frightened. Mules sometimes need blinders on the side of thier eyes. We must keep going forward to God, not looking to the side or behind us. Not getting distracted or frightened. We ourselves sometimes need blinders to keep from temptations. It's very easy to get distracted from God. So we must work towards God as if we are using a plow trying to reach the end of a row in a field, keeping our sights on God, not straying from side to side or looking behind us. I myself have watched men plowing with mules, and they paid no attention to what I was doing off to the side or behind them. They focused ahead.

How do you perceive the last part of that verse? Luke 9:48 "for he that is least among you all, the same shall be great."

Matthew 18:3-5 are good verses of that instance:

"And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me."

Comments by Alex about this luke 9 v 44.This is very powerful scripture actually all of luke 9 kjv. They were arguing which was the greatest but Jesus takes a child and sets him by him which is prophetic of the H.G. the heavenly Child that is gonna be born in all of humanity. The greatest is the H.G. Child, scripture says they didn't understand the things he spoke of. It was not yet revealed unto them that a child was gonna be born to humanity the new birth ( the woman in rev 12 ). Listen to what Jesus is saying, Whosoever receives one one such CHILD IN MY NAME RECEIVES ME AND WHOSOEVER RECEIVES ME RECEIVES HIM THAT SENT ME.Jesus was plainly telling them there was a Child coming in his Name which is the H.G. Thats y he said that which is born of the spirit is Spirit via his seed the Word ( his sayings ).Thats y he said let these Sayings ( his words Seeds ) sink down into your hearts and ears initiating a birth of a BABY CHRIST IN THEM, the GREATEST is the Child the H.G.The son of man,man kinds fruit unto God. But they understood not the things that were spoken. It was not yet revealed unto them that his WORDS/SEEDS were gonna initiate a birth of CHRIST IN THEM th manchild which is the H.G. TH VERY KINGDOM OF GOD IN HUMANITY IS COMING VIA a SEED, THE BOOK, THE NEW COVENANT IS GONNA MAKE US Christs ( Gods ) If any man hears my words and keeps them My Father and I will come and take our abode with him via Hearing his voice ( the living word ).Everytime he refered to himself as the SON OF MAN he was trying to tell them something, Everybody is gona birth a baby Christ, that Woman in rev 12. the CHURCH. Thats y he took a Child and set him by himself and said whosover receives one such Child in my name receives me, just prophetic that there is a Child in our future near future which is the H.G, They were fearfull when he said he was gona be delivered into the the hands of men,But what he was refering to was his words/seeds were gona be delivered to the hands of men th Child

The disciples could cast out all devil's because jesus gave them the power to do it in mark 6.13 And they cast out many devil's and anointed with oil many that were sick and healed them But they could not cast out the devil because this job was for jesus only John 18.37 pilate therefore said unto him Art thou a king then? Jesus answered thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was i born and for this cause came i into the world that i should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice. John 12.31 Now is the judgment of this world now shall the prince of this world BE CAST OUT thank you for your Response may God bless you always
  • Becoming a real Disciple of Jesus Christ - In Reply on Luke 9 - 4 years ago
What did Jesus reply to Satan when Jesus had been Fasting 40 days in the wilderness ??

    It's in the Gospel chapters.

You better have some scripture inside of YOU, to mix with your Faith in Jesus, by way of the Holy Spirit,

iF you are going to pray for someone to be set free from demons. That's a whole big study there! HOW did Jesus DO IT??

We've heard how the disciples didn't do so good their first time out all day long. Know why?

The Holy Spirit hadn't fallen on them yet. They had to wait till Pentecost. But they had seen Jesus do it. Jesus told them: heal the sick , cast out demons, cleanse the leper's. Freely you have received, freely give.

We're supposed to be learning this stuff!

There are many good Teachers on FM Radio you could be listening to. They've all been teaching on Ephesians 6. Demons and spirits are invisible. Can you fight something invisible?

Do you know what your Sword of the Spirit is?? Is it big or little? It is your knowledge of scripture: that is your sword.

David killed Goliath with a rock. But he saw that rock pierce Goliaths head and enter his brain. Goliath blasphemed The God of Israel and David could not stand by and eat all that ridicule. He had a deep relationship with God. That he got by spending time in Gods presence.

When the demons ridicule you.... what have you got to throw at them?

God made clothes for Adam and Eve??

God made a uterus for Eve later, after she'd been created??

How about this one (a prophesy about Jesus spoken in Genesis 3:15). Jesus is going to crush your head, which he did on the Cross!

There's a ton of scriptures you can beat up demons with. Get in the Bible. Quit treating the Bible like public school. You can't use cheat notes on a live demon.

Matthew 9.14 15 the disciples fast not and jesus said the children of the bridegroom can not fast as long as he is here?

    "And Jesus said unto hi

"And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God." I was raised on a farm and know what a plough is and have used one. Hitch it up to a mule and it will dig up the ground into rows. If you make the rows straight it is easier to plant your seeds. If crooked some seeds will fall by the wayside and the crows will come and eat them up.

"55 But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of. 56 For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them"... again, we learn Jesus stayed focused on His 1 mission SALVATION.

don't get too accustomed to this world. Jesus was just passing through and so are we! We get entangled with the "cares" of this life. we like to be comfortable, and there's nothing wrong with that, except you have to keep your eyes on the one that matters-Jesus and eternal life with Him.

To be a disciple of his, hands on the plough, is to be in a battle against the forces of evil on earth. We are in a time of testing. The Truth is being obfuscated. The rule if law is ignored as the Antichrist, who blows his own horn that he is the best, has deceived even the very foremost Christians of our day, 5/9/19. They boost his credibility not knowing the severity of God, who sees all!
