Hello Dgjot, Haven't heard from you for a while. Are you doing o.k.?
I agree with you that many are deceived, both inside and outside of the church. But God know who are His and will bring the elect to salvation, even from very surprising circumstances and cultures. We can continue to pray for those we know who are without Christ and also hope to speak the "words of life" o the Gospel of Jesus to them, often we hope.
It is good to have you posting here again. I pray that you are uplifted in your spirit and enjoying peaceful, joyful fellowship in the Lord.
Mark 12:32- And the scribe said unto him (Him=Jesus)
Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he:
This was before Jesus was crucified, and God raised Him from the dead, and He ascended into heaven, and the Holy Spirit came down to earth to dwell among us.
Jews and Mozlems to this day, deny that Jesus is the Son of God, and reject Him and Salvation through Him.
You can't reason with Jesus deniers. They have been deceived. Their minds are closed. All you can do is pray for those people.
Thank you for sharing this. As you say, this is a great lesson. We find it in Mark 12:41-44 which speaks about the casting of the widow's mite
Verse 41 says that Jesus sat over against the treasury. Now I like this one! This would be equivalent to Jesus sitting across the tithing envelopes in the foyer in our church fellowship. That would make someone nervous wouldn't it? And He was watching how the people cast their money into the treasury: how they were doing it, not how much. And many that were rich cast in much.
Verse 42 says that she threw in two mites (and these are not bugs). Those are the names of coins. It is actually the word LEPTA. A LEPTA is only 1/64th of a day's wage. Somebody figured that out to be about 10 or 12 minutes, 1/64th of a day's wage.
And so two of them, two mites, it adds up to a KORENTAS, 1/32nd of a day's wage. Not much! She threw in these two coins worth 1/32nd of a day's wage. Today, someone might have sent a visitation committee to her house. Now the word farthing is the word KORENTAS in this text.
And as you mentioned, it is very interesting on how God views money. In Verse 43, Jesus saw that the people were casting in money and many that were rich threw in a lot of money. And He says that this widow threw in more than all of them put together. So they are kind of baffled at this.
But the message of scripture is not how much you put in, it's how much you have left over. That is the way God looks at giving. She put in 1/32nd of a day's wage but it was all she had. Everything! She had nothing left over.
One of the greatest lessons taught about giving is found here in the meager giving of the widow. It's obvious that great riches were poured into the treasury yet Jesus took note of the greater giving done by the window. Though her giving was miniscule compared to the others Jesus noted that she gave of her want. Jesus noted that her giving was greater because of what she had left after she gave. The scribes and Pharisees were not hurt nor left in want after they gave. The widow gave of her want. She's left with more want after her giving. That kind of giving is what catches Jesus'attention.
Leave thy fatherless children, I will preserve them alive; and let thy widows trust in me.
Lamentations 5:3
We are orphans and fatherless, our mothers are as widows.
Mark Chapter 12
41 And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.
42 And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.
43 And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:
44 For all they did cast in of their ABUNDANCE, but she of her WANT did cast in all that she had, even all her living.
Comment: Jesus sees what we put in the offering, and what's in our hearts.
I think Jesus wants to point out that it's not what i give to God but what i give from what is available to me. So if i have little and give it ito God is considered by God more than smd else who gives a lot more but its only a small fraction of what he has. This also works parabolic. So give Lord everything you have. What you can do for God? You think that just praying for other people is little and have nothing else to give, money or something else? Well give it to God, He will appreciate it very much.
Verses 42- 44, Jesus notes that the widow gave all that she had. In the next chapter, the synagogue is to be destroyed in the future. Previously in verses 38-40, Jesus told them to beware of the scribes which devour widows' houses. Isn't that precisely what is happening here? The widow gave all that she had and now has nothing. Jesus did not comment that we should do the same. Isn't this more of a condemnation of the scribes and the system?
My main take on these passages is the point of trying to tell Jesus how the word of God is. It is like an author of a book being told by a reader what he was trying to say by their interpretation. Errancy was rampant by personal thought instead of divine revelation. Revelation explains in chapter one that it was given by an unveiling. God help us to remove our own veils to see what He intends and not our own.
The Scriptures about the Godhead. Sometimes called "Let Us..." in some passages. These scriptures are evidence of all 3 persons of the Godhead speaking to each other.

All working together. Jesus came to show us the Father, as Emmanuel.
Matthew 1:23
Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God WITH US. Jesus is all human and all God. Satan is a created being. He has no authority as a result from Jesus dying on the cross for The World.
{Comment} Jesus came to bring to each born again believer; the baptism and the in-dwelling of the Holy Spirit.
[ Genesis 1:2, John 3:6, Acts 2:1-3, John 16: 7-15]
Upon being born again, Jesus gives the Holy Spirit to teach us scripture, comfort us, convict us of sin, enable us to be witnesses. Stay in the New Testament at first.
28-34 Those who sincerely desire to be taught their duty, Christ will guide in judgment, and teach his way. He tells the scribe that the great commandment, which indeed includes all, is, that of loving God with all our hearts. Wherever this is the ruling principle in the soul, there is a disposition to every other duty. Loving God with all our heart, will engage us to every thing by which he will be pleased. The sacrifices only represented the atonements for men's transgressions of the moral law; they were of no power except as they expressed repentance and faith in the promised Saviour, and as they led to moral obedience. And because we have not thus loved God and man, but the very reverse, therefore we are condemned sinners; we need repentance, and we need mercy. Christ approved what the scribe said, and encouraged him. He stood fair for further advance; for this knowledge of the law leads to conviction of sin, to repentance, to discovery of our need of mercy, and understanding the way of justification by Christ.

Hello Joseph. That is a great verse couplet ( Mark 12:29,30), which needed no explanation from Jesus, as every Jew had that those words indelibly etched in their minds. This is what they refer to as the "Shema", which means 'Hear' in Hebrew. What Jesus did add, was verse 31, "Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these." And to this declaration, the Scribe/Lawyer clearly affirmed Jesus' Words, to which Jesus perceived that the man was "not far from the kingdom of God". Muslims also have a common declaration which is always repeated, known as the Shahada, but it doesn't bear repeating here because of its content.
However, I don't believe that Jesus was inferring the Trinity, or His Deity, by quoting the Shema. Jesus somewhat veiled this aspect of His Divinity, though never denying any outburst from the religious leaders for His 'blasphemous claims' (e.g. Matthew 26:59-65; John 10:30-38). I think that when certain spiritual eyes were opened, they were able to know from the Words of Jesus & the demonstration of His Life & Works, that this was no ordinary Man, however blessed He might be from God. This was One they had never encountered before: might they be standing before, seeing & listening to God Himself, now come to them in human form to bring light & hope to their darkened souls? When we read the Gospels, we see clearly this conflict amongst many who came before Him; many hated Him & wanted to dispose of Him - others realized the Messiah of God had come for their sakes & they'd better pay attention to Him.
And even though the word 'trinity' is nowhere to be found in the Scriptures, all the references to that point to Jesus' presence with God & part of the Godhead ( John 3:13; John 6:38; Colossians 2:9; John 1:1-14; John 10:30; Colossians 1:15-17; & many more), give us undeniable proof of Him & His Words. Only the Christ from God could fully pay the price for our sins, securing our redemption.
What about a discussion of Mark 12:29? I find it interesting, after the scribe (verse 28) asks the important question, "What is the greatest commandment?", that there is seldom commentary regarding the actual answer (verse 29): "Jesus answered him saying, 'The greatest commandment is know, O Israel, the Lord OUR God is one Lord."
Discussion here completely omits any dialog about this verse about the answer Jesus gives him the clear and true meaning gets left out by saying, ".. the great commandment, which indeed includes all, is, that of loving God with all our hearts." What it also "includes" is the great commandment [quote]: "Jesus answered him saying, 'The greatest commandment is know, O Israel, the Lord OUR GOD is ONE Lord' (emphasis added).
Jesus is including himself with "OUR GOD" and why would he say "ONE" Lord, instead of trinity.
Also, if the word 'Trinity' is nowhere in the Bible . . . what can we think about that?
Thank you so much for opening up my mind and heart to consider the possibility of learning how to think for myself - instead of thinking what I'm told to think.
I love the beautiful way the Bible still tells it like it is, when it comes to monotheism.
One God.
Him I really want love with all my heart, mind, soul and spirit. Yes, I want to pray to the same God Jesus prayed to.
The term Trinity isn't in the Bible. Neither is the word Bible in the Bible. The word rapture isn't in the Bible, and neither is the word Saturday in the Bible.
Never-the-less, the teachings of the doctrine of the Trinity do exist in the Bible. I challenge you to do your own study. Then you can explain how the Holy Spirit lives in a born again believer, the Lord Jesus stands at the right hand of the throne of God, and God the Father sits on the throne; all at the same time.
And is still be considered as One Triune God according to Scripture. God bless you and us all as we learn more of our God, King, and soon coming Lord Jesus Christ.
God bless all the discussion and questions on this forum. Much has been said regarding the Sabbath day and its significance in our lives as children of God. However it wasn't until Moses received the 10 commandments was the law given regarding the Sabbath.
In all of the Book of Genesis, there is no mention of the word Sabbath. My question is "What day did Adam and Eve worship on?" Did God only come into the garden on the Sabbath to walk and talk with Adam? If Adam and Eve were created on the 6th day, is it their 7th day or God's seventh day. And what would Adam and Eve be resting from?
Remember God rested on the seventh day because He completed all of "creation." The word rested means He stopped creating. Did the Lord God do more creating on the eight day to day 13? Did He rest again on the 14th day? In Genesis 26:5 Abraham kept God's requirements, commands, decrees and laws. The verse tells us that Abraham was obedient, but it simply doesn't tell us which statutes and decrees were in effect in his day.
The Sabbath is a reunion between Israel and God as it is said,"It is a sign between Me and the children of Israel for ever" Exodus 31:16, 17
No where does the Bible indicate that the Sabbath was given to anyone except the Jews. Exodus 16:28, 29
The choice is still your own. Praying that this helps us all as we await the return of the Lord in His glory.

Just to clarify: Jesus was quoting Moses' words in Deuteronomy 6:4, when Moses continued to utter the commandments & instructions to Israel that he received directly from God.
Hello, what is your motive for posting that God is one God? Christians have known this all along, because the Bible has always said that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are one, not two, not three, but one. Just like the pulp, skin, seeds of an orange is one orange, not three oranges. Some people have a hard time comprehending, so they make up stuff and try to discredit and slander Jesus, for example, which is unthinkable, but that of course it's based on a clever lie from satan.
Who is most likely to trick everyone into assuming Jesus isn't who people say He is: God, or satan? The father of lies is behind so much of the new age and regressive movements we see today trying to manipulate and deceive people into believing falsehoods. I hope you're not part of this group, but I mention it so everyone is on guard for the false prophets who sometimes even post on this website. People should really pray hard and do deep soul searching before trying to slander God in Bible website. The day of judgment is coming. Even those who believe they're saved regardless of their actions will still face judgment before going anywhere. Some will cry out Lord, Lord. Fight the good fight, run the race well to the end. God bless.
I agree, the 1st, and 2nd commandments - are the greatest of all. Amen.
As Christians we also can't ignore the other eight.
John 14:21
"He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him."
I'm glad that you are doing well. I am doing much better. Recovering from hand surgery now.
I agree with you that many are deceived, both inside and outside of the church. But God know who are His and will bring the elect to salvation, even from very surprising circumstances and cultures.
