Whether pre or post-tribulation view we will find out when it occurs. Either way we already know how to prepare and what to do during our short time on earth. Some get really into such debates and I think the first part of Titus 3:9 may be applicable. God bless.

What Do the Scriptures Really Say About the Rapture?

To get an understanding that comes from God's Word and not from our own expectations of God's plan, we need to see what each scriptural reference is really talking about. We also need to establish what events take place for each verse and when they occur.

Let's start with the favorite verse quoted to support the rapture of the church at the start of the tribulation.

"For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words"

    ( I Thessalonians 4:16-18, KJV).

    Sequence of Events:

    1. The Lord descends.

    2. A shout, voice, trump.

    3. The dead rise.

    4. The living caught up.

Timing: Nothing specifies a particular time for these events. In this verse we found nothing conclusive to be used to identify the specific time when the rapture might occur except that it follows the Lord's descent from heaven and the sounding of the trumpet of God. Let's take a look at another very popular verse about the rapture of the church:

"Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we

shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed"

    ( I Corinthians 15:51,52, KJV).

    Sequence of Events:

    1. The trumpet sounds.

    2. The dead rise.

    3. The living changed.

Timing: Begins with the "last trump". The trump identified as the "last trump" seems to be the cause of these events. This appears to indicate that other trumpets will sound before this one, but none after it. Could this be the final (seventh) trumpet

found in Revelation? If so, that would put it at or near the end of the tribulation.

Who was Jesus talking to when he talked about the drunkenness
  • Mishael - In Reply on Mark 16 - 2 years ago
Between the close of the Old Testament, was 490 years of silence from Heaven.

Then in Matthew and Luke, we see it is time for Jesus to come into the world.

    Sister Donna,

    Amen.

    1 John 5:2-3

By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous

    God Bless.

Jesus kept the Sabbath. It was important to Him. :-). If It's important to Jesus, it's important to me too.
  • Bro dan - In Reply on Mark 16:15 - 2 years ago
    Hi Sister Donna,

Jesus tells us in scripture below that God made the sabbath for man:

    Mark 2:27

"And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:"

Jesus doesn't say the sabbath was made just for the Jews, or for just Israel. The scripture is plain - the sabbath was made for man!

Man can say anything to bend and twist the bible scripture. People ignore and twist bible scripture regularly - to fit their worldly lifestyles.

Read the bible scripture for yourself and believe it!

    God Bless.

    Hello Sister Judy,

Amen, and well stated. Saturday has and always will be the Holy Sabbath Day.

If we are truly Christ Followers, we will follow Christ, as indeed He and the apostles also did. The Sabbath was made for man to rest, and to keep holy. We should observe it and thank God for it! Yes, it is the 4th Commandment. Jesus sums up following "the commandments" in one of the smallest yet strongest verses in the bible:

    John 14:15

"If ye love me, keep my commandments."

This simple verse cuts to the heart! We don't love Jesus if we don't follow his commandments!

Happy Sabbath Day, and God Bless.

Mark 16:1 "And when the Sabbath was past" (the 7th day) 2. "And very early in the morning the first day of the week..." (Sunday) How can this be misinterpreted? Luke 23:54 And that day was the preparation, and the Sabbath drew on. 56. ....they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the Sabbath day according to the commandment. Luke24:1 Now on the first day of the week... (Sunday) early in the morning, they came to the sepulcher...

Luke 4:16 ....and as his custom was He (Jesus) went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day.... Luke 13:10 ...and He (Jesus) was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. Genesis 1:5....He called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. Genesis 2:2...and on the seventh day God ended his work which He had made. 3 And God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it. (to set apart, to declare Holy)

Exodus 20:8-11 (4th commandment) Remember the Sabbath day to keep it Holy. Six days shalt thou labor and do all thy work, but the 7th day is the Sabbath. So we have established that the preparation day and the Sabbath drew on....was Friday. The Sabbath was the 7th day.... Saturday. He rose very early the first day of the week...Sunday. The Sabbath was established in the first week of creation to commemorate his work. A reminder that he is Creator God. The sabbath commandment starts with...remember. God knew that someday the world was going to forget the true Sabbath and worship a man made Sabbath. This happened under Constantine in the 3rd century when he declared Sunday to be a National day of rest. But he could not change the true Sabbath. He could only counterfeit a new day of rest. Then the Roman Catholic Church established it as a "Holy Day" but it was not Gods holy day. The Catholic Church claims the change and declares it as a "Mark" of their authority! There's that word "mark." Could it be the "Mark" of the Beast is making the false Sabbath (Sun day) law?

We are in the last church age on earth and the last global empire on earth before Jesus comes back. In chapter 16 it speaks of their hardness of heart and unbelief, which is so widespread in the churches of today. He upbraided them but people will not take that today from a preacher who is ordained by His Spirit. It's worse now. Covid has us living in fear and not faith. Jesus asked this question, would he find faith in earth when He comes back. There is a falling away from the faith right now. Just waiting on the revealing of the man of sin, the antichrist because the global system is in place for him to run.

We must be ready when Jesus comes.

I supposed It would be hard to tell some people who are giving their lives today for the Lord Jesus that these things aren't going to happen until after the rapture. Many in other countries are dying for their faith in Jesus.

this was told to a congregation, god showed me 2 women and say choose. how possible could this be, since our father knows the plans he has for us. he know who he wants for us he know the right mate. i believe the person was talking in the flesh however could you shed light on this since the person saying it is the person god showed to someone as there mate, and the connection is strong. and the person is not of the same race he says, i know we only have one race but that is what was said

Does those who work on the Sabbath day sin?

Did Jesus break the Sabbath day?

Did Jesus preach or teach to keep the sabbath day holy?

what is the difference in observing the Sabbath in the days of Moses and Todays era?

Each one works out his own.(salvation)

Usually when a family member does something, wrong . The whole family does suffer for it.

But God doesn't inflict that on you and your family. That family member does.

  • True Timing of the Caught Up in the Clouds - In Reply on Mark 16:15 - 3 years ago
    Read the 10 Virgins parable. Born again Christians are the Bride of Christ. When the Father tells Jesus to go collect his Bride;

We are told to be looking for him! Lamps full of oil. It's a wedding, and then the Feast. It's not the 2nd coming.

Jesus's feet do not touch the earth at the time of the Caught Up In The Clouds event (some people call it Rapture).

Use the SEARCH Box when you enter this website. Type in 'Caught up in the Clouds' and you will see ALL scriptures that describe this Timing.

Jesus is not going to wait and collect his Bride AFTER the Tribulation. She will be feasting in heaven.

Other scripture says that the next time Jesus's FEET touch on EARTH, will be at the Mount of Olives, at the 2nd Coming.

    Tip: quit reading drugstore Rapture books. All you need is the Bible;

And a really fast search engine like this website has. Use it.

I preached on the rapture as a young evangelist and the pastor said after service he was post trib and didnot believe in the rapture. I did not not learn alot from that opposition but he told me something wise and that was as an evangelist preach evangelical not pastorial messages we all agree Christ will come again. So that's a sermon to unite and not divide us. Evenso Lord Jesus hurry up and come.

Wow! I think I have a lot to check into. I guess that this is not going to be a quick answer to my question. I thank you for your answer and appreciate the time you took to help me.
  • Graeme on Mark 16 - 3 years ago
Hi Liz. Rather than just looking at the 7 year period of Daniel's 70 weeks, study and find out the meaning and purpose of why God set the 70 years. It has to do with the "Sabbaths" which Israel were to keep. but look further and then the understanding of the 70 years, as well as the 7 years will be clearer. You will need to look back into the OT Law. Concerning pre - mid and post tribulation, oftentimes the reason for the confusion is a too narrow view, or a view in the wrong direction that leads people astray.

    Water baptism

From the very beginning in the bible, water separates or divides from something: Genesis 1: 6, 7.

When God set apart people for himself, he used water to separate you from something to bring you into something else.

In the old testament, Moses and the priest had to wash with water to be sanctified for service.

Want to show how many scriptures(not all) are showing how important baptism is!

    Ezekiel 36: 24 - 27:

God takes the unclean, sprinkles clean water on them, and they shall be clean. Puts his Spirit in them and calls them his people!

    New Testament:

John the Baptist baptized with water, also baptized Jesus that the scriptures would be fullfilled:

    Matthew 3: 11, 16.

    John 1: 26 - 33.

    Luke 3: 16, 21.

    Matthew 28:19:

Teach all nations to baptize in Jesus name.

    Mark 16:16:

He that believes and is baptized shall be saved.

    Luke 24: 47 - 49:

Beginning at Jerusalem, repentance and water baptism(remission of sins) preached in Jesus name among all nations.

    John 3: 5 - 7:

Jesus taught you must be born again of water(baptism) and Spirit.

    John 13:10:

Jesus washed his disciple's feet with water, calling them clean.

    John 19:34:

Jesus dead on the cross; soldier pierced his side, out came BLOOD and WATER.

    Note:

    1 John 5: 6, 8:

Jesus came by WATER and BLOOD.

There are 3 that bear witness in the earth: Spirit, water, and blood. These 3 agree in one.

One what? - One new birth.
