"But Jesus withdrew himself with his disciples to the sea: and a great multitude from Galilee followed him, and from Judaea," What would be a rough estimate of a "great multitude"?
  • HENRY on Mark 3 - 4 years ago
What date did jesus pick the disciples

Bible doesn't say "don't paint eyes," but it is vain meaning it is not important. What is important is the spirit and good works. So you can paint your eyes if you want, but it is better to show people God in your life. Modesty is important.

Jeremiah 4:30 And when thou art spoiled, what wilt thou do? Though thou clothest thyself with crimson, though thou deckest thee with ornaments of gold, though thou rentest thy face with painting, in vain shalt thou make thyself fair; thy lovers will despise thee, they will seek thy life.

Proverbs 31:30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.

First Timothy 2:9-10 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.
  • Chris - In Reply on Mark 3 - 4 years ago
Well, some may offer comment that the Bible does state this, but really, there is no direct command for women not to 'paint up'. Rather, it was well known in the olden days (& even now), that 'ladies of the night' were the ones who usually beautified themselves so as to attract customers.

So, with that in mind, including other enhancements to the face, hair, clothing, etc., the warning went out by apostle Paul to Timothy in 1 Tim 2:9, 10: "women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array. But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works."

And Peter said in 1 Pet 3:3, 4: "Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel. But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price."

I think that it has to be a personal understanding & conviction as to what to do in this regard, as it would be sin & vanity for any other reason other than to enhance one's appearance yet maintaining the demeanour of a woman practising godliness in both appearance & what she may inadvertently convey to men.

why does the Bible not say anything about a demon portal?

i once listened to a secular band called nightwish

    then a demon portal opened

and my preacher is now in it.

    He wont

    leave

    i have tried anything.

I can not make him leave.

HE has been evil towards me in 6 years now.

And he wont repent of that demon portal

(what a small thing to do - to repent of a demon portal you might think but he really will not)

    bye

It will be easier for you to Google this question. As you guessed it's a tedious answer; because people are involved.

I'm here to view and make comment on scripture. I enjoy it. It's not a job.

Back on the red Link Page, there are some explanation of the KJV Bible.
  • Spike4187 - In Reply on Mark 3 - 4 years ago
If I could interject something. The reason why certain books were left out for instance: the new Testament. The only scripture allowed was letters written by people who actually walked with Christ such as the disciples. Paul is the exception because he was the one converted by Christ himself. Paul also saw heaven although he was too humble to even discuss what he saw, or brag about it. Not like people today who claim they have been there and write books and go on speaking tours. If they could not actually confirm the period it was written, or that this person actually was with Jesus, they did not allow it to become part of the "Canon" This way, the Bible would be kept pure from false doctrine. Interesting to note, Paul's writings actually make up about half of the New Testament.
  • Adam - In Reply on Mark 3 - 4 years ago
That is a different question then. You would need to research the origins of the Bible and the Bible canon. Even biased wikipedia articles can shed light on this and give a general overview. You then asked why books were 'left out'. The question could be phrased as why Catholics added books. You could also research the dead sea scrolls. Also research the apocrypha. Link
  • David Ballengee - In Reply on Mark 3 - 4 years ago
Both of you missed the first part of the question. Why does the King James Bible (or whatever you choose to call it) consist of the books therein? Why were the 4 books of the Maccabees left out? Or all of the books of the Catholic Bible left out of the Protestant Bible? This is what I meant by different versions.
  • Adam - In Reply on Mark 3 - 4 years ago
Hi Brian, the KJV is not a "Protestant Bible brought out of the Protestant Reformation." That characterization suggests bias and that wouldn't be a fair assumption and charactization for 2 reasons:

    1. The KJV is an accurate Bible transation. It has nothing to do with divisions or sects of Christianity. The translation is transparent and the word by word careful translation can be verified by anyone.

    2. The KJV is read not just by protestants, but catholics, mormons, and other faiths.

It sounds like the real question posed is since the KJV Bible is accurate, why do some groups such as catholics alter it and add/remove books from their Bibles. For that you'd have to ask the catholics. Secondly, such Bibles are not KJV. The KJV is the one in this site and many others across the web and they have the same books, so you won't find variations as suggested by the question other than the apocrypha. The old testament was written in Hebrew and new testament in greek, so I don't understand the original question about greek having different books. God bless.

The King James Bible is a Protestant Bible brought out of the Protestant Reformation. It was written in the English Language. Prior to the 1611 King James Bible the Holy Scriptures were written and hand copied in Latin, Greek, and Hebrew. One thing that the Reformation achieved was, through the invention of the printing press, the Bible was printed in the languages of the common people throughout Europe, thanks in large part to Martin Luther who translated the New Testament into the German Language. A lot of the reason why there are so many different versions of the Bible was political. The Catholic Church controlled religion and the average person did not have access to the Latin Vulgate Bible and hence the Church dictated what people knew about Salvation. Once the Bible was translated into the common language of the people the Church lost a lot of control over the masses. People began to read and think out their own Salvation apart from the Pope and the Catholic Church.

    To ALEX

Your comments are a compilation of vain religious doctrines and commandments ( Matthew 15:9; Isa. 29:13; Col 2:18; 1 Timothy 1:6,7; Titus 1:14) that are not able to provide salvation to mankind.

Regardless of the thin air in Nova Scotia as described by Fred Scanlan, please do know that our website and Ministry in Christ moves very well with the Holy Spirit and was visited last year by people from over 160 countries. There are 193 countries in the world, while the Vatican and Palestine are observer States. Also, we much prefer to breath the cleaner air in Nova Scotia rather than the air out West.

Please remember: You need not that any man teach you ( Isaiah 54:13; 6:45; 1 John 2:27), It is only by revelation of God that you will come to know Christ ( Daniel 12:4,9; Amos 3:7; Matthew 16:17; Luke 2:26; Romans 16:25; 1 Cor. 2:10; Gal. 1:16; Eph. 3:3,5; Rev. 1:1).

You are currently travelling on a 'wide' road and be reminded that it is a narrow way that leadeth unto 'Life', and few there be that find it ( Matthew 7:13,14). The emphasis is on the word 'few'.

Seek, and ye shall find ( Matthew 7:7). Don't let your self-righteousness stand in the way of your salvation ( Romans 10:3,4).

    In His Service.

Tell me why the King James Bible consists of the included books only. In other words, why are there different versions? Roman Catholic, Protestant, Greek...?
  • Stanjett - In Reply on Mark 3 - 4 years ago
Very clear to me. Do it and you will go to hell. NO repenting of that. The only unforgivable sin.
  • Frank Garcia - In Reply on Mark 3 - 4 years ago
The law can make no one righteous because no one can keep the law God prefers mercy than punishment that is why Jesus died for us on the cross the law has no love or mercy and can't forgive sins. let the Holy spirit guide your direction. Bless you.

It is very confusing about blaspheming the holy spirit. Maybe it's the way that it's worded? I guess that I still don't understand it.

Anyways, it would be considered legal to bring this guy's dead hand back to life on the Sabbath day. I think that anything that has to do with life and restoration is definitely allowable. And the Rabbi's would have known it too. So telling him not to do it - is a little bit like they thought they could control him with a technicality. And they might have thought of him as a fake healer. Of course maybe some just kind of knew that it was real, but didn't want to do the work and so forth, so they invalidated it by using another line of reasoning. But no matter where you go with it - it still comes back to amazing-

Hi George. Thank you for your testimony and sharing the growing love you have for the Lord through your hunger for His Word. It is always heartening to read that a child of God reads the Bible and wants to know about God. Don't ever be concerned about your English expression; as Christians, we look way beyond that limitation & look at the writer's heart & needs & then try to give some comment that is based on God's Word, which is Truth. Without the Bible, our responses would just be our own opinions & not necessarily what God wants you to hear.

So please continue to read God's Word daily & you know that you will always have an open access here to ask something that you don't understand. And the more you read the Scriptures, the more the Holy Spirit will help you to remember them & to use them when you face some situation in your life. God bless you richly in your Christian life.

35 For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.

Verse 35, JESUS clearly educate us on a kinsman relationship made by JEHOVAH /GOD, and it supersedes any earthly kinfolks relationship, thereby through SALVATION / John 3:16-21 we have Heavenly family members that will not be seen until we all gather at the MARRIAGE SUPPER OF THE LAMB.

Larry, as you know, the chapter speaks about the wicked false teachers that penetrated (or, allowed to penetrate) Christ's Church. A lesson for us today as well. Their condemnation is already set in stone but for the believers not properly grounded in the faith who are now "entangled/overcome", their end is "worse". Your query no doubt is on the actual state of these believers. My belief is that once a sinner has repented & saved by God's Grace, He is eternally secure & given Power to walk the Christian life. If a believer fails the Lord through sin, the avenue of repentance & forgiveness is there. If he chooses to go the way of sin, then he may not have been saved at all: Heb 6:4-6.

  • Fred Scanlan - In Reply on Mark 3 - 4 years ago
It has been my experience that even though we think we cannot be forgiven. That our sins are more than he will bear, Our God will forgive ! He knows the heart , He knows you and me. He created us ,and loves us beyond our understanding. If you think you have sinned against the holy Ghost, that thought convinces me that you are not outside the grace of God. That your roots are still in place, and your future is still in Him.
  • Fred Scanlan on Mark 3 - 4 years ago
What does it mean unforgivable sin against the holy Ghost? What does it mean to bind a strong man? In the next chapter Christ says when your faith is planted in good ground ,He says some will grow 30, some 60, some 100 fold. The revelation of Jesus Christ will have free course and grow,it is Only when we deny him, and allow the strong one to bind our faith, even unto spiritual death ,that their can be no forgiveness of sin. He says to him that has, even more shall be given to Him, also It is impossible for those who were once enlightened, If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.
  • Obbie Beal on Mark 3 - 4 years ago
28 above JESUS mind is on SALVATION for me and you, because JESUS clearly let us know there is forgiveness of All sin,see John 3:16-21 and other verses also,. Also in the same breath JESUS warn us of the sin of blaspheme which is crossing the line of no-return, meaning we boldly straight jacket oneself so deeply into sins until.... see the Revelation chapter 17 and 18, also see Revelation 20:21.

1 And he entered again into the synagogue and there was a man there which had a withered hand. Every time I read this, I pray that God will heal my withered hand, which I've had for years. Maybe one day he will. Meanwhile, I will do as Paul who had a infirmity, keep praying.

Boat, ship, vessel, call it what you want. I got a vessel that I call a boat. A small fishing boat because I live on a lake. My neighbor has a boat with sails which he calls a sailboat. I believe BIG boats are called ships and if they don't have sails or if they do. Ever heard of a stream boat. They are huge but I think it would be correct to call them a ship or a boat.
