    I wonder how it felt for Mary to know she would have a son, and for him to die for all of us. Must have been a lot to take in.
  • Rathi on Matthew 1 - 11 years ago
    the thought of adpotion by Joseph to Christ is really challenging my life. he raised up our Lord and we are saved because he finally walked in God 's plan even if it was a bit difficult to embrace at first.

    Praise God, This book shows us how the genealogy of Jesus Christ the son of David, the son of Abraham was formed. We can see that the book recognized the presence of a woman like Rahab, Ruth, Uriah and Mary thus shows that everybody is equal before the Lord. Be blessed.

  • Daniel Campbell on Matthew 1 - 11 years ago
    This scripture reveals several truths, it gives the account of the immaculate conception of the Messiah. Also it gives the genealogy of the Messiah which is important because it lets us know that he was from the linage of Abraham whom God promised the world would be blessed though his seed.
  • Peter on Matthew 1 - 11 years ago
    This scripture teaches me that God's love for mankind is so huge that He will go to any length in order to bring mankind to himself.
  • Stephehderafael on Matthew 1 - 11 years ago
    To me, the Bible is the manual on how to enter into God's glory, to be one of the hundred and forty four thousand who will spend eternity before the Throne of God.

  • Sherice on Matthew 1 - 11 years ago
    Do you know God died for our sins? No matter how many times. We mess up or make bad choices for ourselves. The is Key in our choices; not God’s choices for us.
  • Shantaya on Matthew 1 - 11 years ago
    I love the lord Jesus.
  • DPierce on Matthew 1 - 11 years ago
    I think the genealogy is very important, because it establishes the gospel connection so beautifully to all those antecedents who wrote of it, and who looked forward to it. Even some of them, like Zorobabel- that most would have forgotten, a king in exile, received a promise, too.. and it was fulfilled. God is the God of history. He has been actively involved in mankind, to redeem it and left no stone unturned, proving to the world who Jesus Christ is, and that the Father was in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself. This year, at Christmas we read this genealogy aloud because it is that important.

    Did anyone notice that the "star" leads these guys PAST where Jesus was. To a man who wants to kill him, and then leads them back to the YOUNG child?
  • Enoch Gyas on Matthew 1 - 11 years ago
    What a mystery, what a story so sweet to hear, how GOD humbles himself and became man just for mankind. Thank you for the salvation.
  • James on Matthew 1 - 11 years ago
    Please excuse the spelling. I love all the scripture of the bible. What hurts me is when these so called ex-Christians say they grew up in a Christian home but as they got older they realized that scientific theory and what they teach you in public school on evolution is right, and can’t teach about God and creation, it is messed up. There is this tv show called thirty days one of the episode had an atheist live with these Christians for 30 days. She tries saying there is no afterlife. You just die you see it in nature. What hurts me about her is she said she grew up Christian. She believes in science and that we as humans control our bodies well. If she reads the bible she should know that God gave us the choice to follow him or not, is that not the same as giving you control of yourself. My ex boss and I had plenty of talks about God, Jesus and the holy spirit we both are Christians. He goes to church faithfully. I don’t go to church anymore, haven’t gone in about 20 years. My boss couldn’t believe I haven’t been in years. He once said to me that I know more about the scripture than half the people he went to church with even a lot of the elders there who spent their lives going to church. What I told him is I believe there are 3 types of Christian. Let me elaborate on Christians; some people think they are Christians. What I mean is growing up I went to church because I wanted to; my mom and dad did not go to church but I loved going hearing about our God, his son and the holy spirit and all the bible scriptures. See I went to church not because I grew up in a Christian home or was made to go to church. But I went because I wanted to. So when my ex boss said that I knew a lot about the bible I said when you’re made to go or you used to go because you grew up going. If we are made to do something, we rebel if we grew up going. It’s just routine if you choose to go you listen and you want to learn. So when a person grew up Christian and ends up turning to a non believer they never truly let the lord in their hearts because they were either going with the fellow or because they went every Sunday and it’s part of their routine or you rebelled because you were made to go. That is why I believe these ex-Christian are distorting the truth because they never opened their hearts to listen and read the bible. I may not go to church anymore and know that all over the world there are different cultures and a lot of these different cultures talk about a great flood. As far as science and evolution, they can’t pinpoint what happened to the dinosaurs but through carbon dating they say they roamed the earth 60 million before humans. carbon dating is nothing but nonsense. The bible says we were around the dinosaurs. Before they even found a fossil dinosaurs were written in the bible. They want admit that a majority of them died in the great flood. Because they can’t find human remains in the same rock layers as the dinosaurs. In the book of Genesis God told Adam and Eve they came from the dirt, they will go back to dirt when we die. So if I still after 20 years believe after all the stupid things I did, I still believe and it gets stronger everyday. Please out of love to all my brother and sister in Christ. Amen.

    Praise the Lord.
  • Jay on Matthew 1 - 11 years ago
    I forgot to add that since the writer (Matthew) portray Jesus as a king:
    1. A king has a genealogy;
    2. A servant (as Mark portrays Jesus) does not have a genealogy;
    3. A man (as Luke portrays Jesus) does have a genealogy;
    4. God (as john portrays Jesus) does not have a genealogy.

    All about Jesus’ life on earth.
  • Pam on Matthew 1 - 11 years ago
    I think it tells us just who Jesus is... Emmanuel, God with us...
  • Jay on Matthew 1 - 11 years ago
    It might be helpful understanding the genealogy of Jesus in greater detail. When we understand that the book of Matthew portrays Jesus as king of the Jews, and then take another look at the lineage from Abraham to Jesus.
  • Ami McAlhany on Matthew 1 - 11 years ago
    It is telling us about the miracle birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ...To have a good relationship with Him and Faith and Believe... Even when it sometimes seems hard, Believe... God Bless all.
  • Timothy Wayne George on Matthew 1 - 11 years ago
    Matthew's gospel presents Jesus as the son of David, and therefore the rightful heir to the throne of his father. We call him Jesus, for he shall save his people from their sin. He is Emmanuel because he is God with us. We call him Christ, for he is the Messiah who shall reign as King of Kings, and Lord of Lords. We call him Savior, because his death, burial, and Resurrection is the gospel that saves us. Praise God, he had to first be born of the Virgin Mary, and that Joseph in obedience to the angel, took her to be his wife in fulfilment of prophecy. The testimony of Jesus, is the Spirit of prophecy.
