Isaiah 53:10 "Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand."
According to this verse, it was the Messiah's soul (or life; Hebrew word is nephesh) that was made an offering for sin.
Leviticus 17:11 "For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul."
According to this verse, the life (or soul; Hebrew word is nephesh) is in the blood. Therefore, by shedding his blood, the Messiah shed his perfect life (or soul) to atone for the sin of mankind.
Grace is for the here and now. To get us by as we come into the full knowledge of His Truth. Grace is not so we can do as we think to do without any discipline from the Almighty. When we contemplate suicide we are removing Him from the throne and we sit in His place. No, Suicide is never a good thing and IMHO is not forgivable because you have just ended His reign in your life and taken on the authority we do not have.
But hey, do what you "FEEL" good about cuz that is the way of the "new" church.
In the question of how many disciples did Yeshua have, it is well over 70 if you READ the WORD instead of being "taught" it by jack legged preachers looking to change the WORD for their own benefit. There were only 12 He called to be Apostles at that time. But He sent out 70 others.
I am so sorry to hear about your situation, it is very sad. But keep on praying. You have the right approach to not fight yourself, but let God do the fighting for you.
Romans 8:31 "What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?"
1 John 4:4 "Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world."
As for your question, let me reassure you that suicide is not an unforgivable sin. Therefore, IF a true believer commits suicide, though their life ended with a sin under tragic circumstances, they are still saved by the blood of Christ. The grace of God through the death and resurrection of Christ covers all sins past, present, and future. A sin that ends your life is no more potent than one that doesn't. God's grace is more powerful and covers it all. So, rest assured that __is in the presence of the Lord. The apostle Paul is clear on this in Philippians 1:21-23. He says that when we depart from the body (death) we are then with Christ. This goes for all Believers, not just ones that didn't commit suicide.
I believe you are correct. After more praying, I see that staff is exactly that, a staff. The confusion I had with Matthew wasn't there with Mark and certainly not in Hebrews or elsewhere used in the old testament. No allegory at all, crystal clear as a staff is a stick. Matthews verse threw me because it said " nor yet" before staff. But 'yet' is likened to 'though' same as 'save' in Marks verse is likened to 'though or only or but'. So as you said it is what is stated. Thank you for your response. Peace.
I'm afraid that I would have to leave you to search for & consider the 'other' meanings of 'staff & stave' & find answers, as I can only read these passages as given - as instructions to the disciples on what they should take with them in their ministry.
In Matthew chapter 10 verse 9, they were told to not to carry 'cash', rather to trust God to meet their daily needs. In verse 10, they should not be burdened with extra baggage, but to go just as they were & to trust God when their sandals wore out or another need arose. The word 'staves' are used elsewhere in the Gospels along with 'swords'. When those people approached Jesus to arrest him, some came with swords & others 'staves', or sticks. It could be that whether some of the disciples used 'staves' as for support/help in their journeyings or to fend off undesirables, Jesus is saying that these things were unimportant, rather the urgent ministry to the "lost sheep of the house of Israel".
Sorry that I can't help you with your enquiry - I don't go in much for allegorizing, unless indicated in the Scriptures. I generally understand the Scriptures as given unless there is a spiritual meaning intended (as in the parables) or veiled in abstract forms (as in the Book of Revelation).
Seeking in Scripture this morning attempting to discern through God's Holy Spirit Verse 10 where Jesus says on the back of the verse "nor yet staves;". Why did He use the word "yet" to the disciples? What was left for the Disciples to receive later but The Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit could be likened to a Stave, for doesn't one lean upon a stave? Doesn't one who is weak rely upon a staff to rest upon? And doesn't The Holy Spirit in Psalm 23 Verse 4 say of Jesus Himself saying "Thy Rod (Word) and Thy Staff (Spirit?) they comfort me."
Now throughout the Old Testament everywhere else, I find no reference of The Holy Spirit as a Staff only that of a wooden walking stick to rest upon. And in Mark 6:8 Jesus commanded " 'save' a staff only," here referring to a staff of wood to lean or rest upon when walking or standing. So what of the meaning of 'yet' and 'save' in each Gospel? So I am at a crossroads in my mind and must pray to Christ for discernment. If you desire to assist, feel free. Peace.
I believe that one who has truly repented for his sins, receiving the salvation of Jesus through faith in the Blood, is born again by the Spirit of God. That being the case, then the reception of the Spirit must be in residence that person's life because it is the Spirit's Work alone, & the new child in Christ is sealed (or, marked) as God's property. And this sealing is God's guarantee that we belong to Him unto "the redemption of the purchased possession" ( Ephesians 1:13,14).
This then has to be the experience of every child of God & the presence & working of the Spirit in him, will produce many ways of confirmation to our hearts. It could be an outward manifestation of a spiritual Gift or an inward witness of that Divine indwelling. In Acts chapter 2, we read of the very first reception of the Holy Spirit upon the new Church, with the evidence of speaking in other languages as witness to both speaker & hearer. Then in Acts chapter 8 we see that the laying of hands was required for the Christians in Samaria, who believed on Jesus through Philip's preaching, but had not received the Holy Spirit. Peter & John went to them that they too might receive the Spirit. All this happened to the fledgling Church as it was being established on Christ's Sacrifice, His teaching & that of the apostles.
But in Acts chapter 10, Cornelius & others who heard the Word brought to them by Peter, had the Holy Spirit come upon them, even while Peter was still preaching, as they then spoke in other tongues. Or, when the Ethiopian Eunuch was baptised by Philip, no mention is made about the Ethiopian receiving the Spirit. So, it seems that in the establishment of the Church & with the apostles present, God at times used them to minister the Spirit to believers. But today, with the Church now grounded in the Word, matured in Christ & with no apostolic presence, the Spirit is given liberally to all who are truly born again, who call upon the Lord in faith.
Was the Gift of the Holy Spirit promised by Adonai ,and sent back by Jesus Christ at Pentecost : afterwards accomplished by the laying on of hands by a qualified Christian/s ?
Or, does a Christian receive the Gift of the Holy Spirit automatically upon being Born Again ?
In Revelation chapter 21 we see the new Jerusalem, "coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband", and "Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God." So in the end, heaven and earth will be together. The meek, in and by Jesus Christ, inherit it all.
The Old Testament was given to Israel and they were supposed to be a witness to the world:
Declare his glory among the heathen; his marvellous works among all nations. ( 1 Chronicles 16:24)
It was also given for us to learn the ways of the LORD by it:
Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come. ( 1 Corinthians 10:11)
The New Testament is for the world to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ whereby whosoever will come unto him shall be saved.
The soul that sinneth, it shall die:
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.( Romans 6:23)
There is a second death:
And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. ( Revelation 21:6-8)
Trish: Pray when you study God's word. The Bible is the living Word of God. The Bible cannot be summarized, because the more you read it, the more depth and understanding you will have. God created man to worship Him. We were created for his glory. Therefore, he set rules in order for man to follow. These are the 10 commandments, as well as the doctrine taught by Jesus. Repent and sin not. Read the New Testament first from Matthew to Revelation. Read Psalms to understand who God is, what he does and what he has done. The Jews were his chosen people because God wanted them to be an example for the Gentiles (everyone who is not a Jew). The commandments are for both. God requires us to live holy in this present world and live without sinning. When God sends Jesus to gather the saints to be with them, He will separate the saints from the wicked. Fire and brimstone will fall from the heavens and earth will destroyed and recreated. The saints, who are meek will return to a new heaven and a new earth, literally. The wicked shall be cast into the lake of fire with the devil known as Satan and all the demons. It will be a place burning eternally with fire and smoke. The wicked will not die. The righteous will have spiritual bodies. Heaven will be the headquarters of God, Jesus and their angels. We shall be caught up to meet him in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord. The soul that sins shall die. This death is an eternal separation from God. Saints will be in the first resurrection. The righteous shall live forever with the Lord. (To be continued.) We are to believe who God is, that Jesus is His Son and our Saviour. Jesus came to save us from sin. Many people will be alive when Jesus comes in the air. We will all be judged by God when resurrected. Then we will be separated, the good from the evil people. Some will be with Jesus, others to everlasting punishment. Fear God and keep his commandments. This is the whole duty of man.
Sister Western; maybe I could share a thought or two on the here after with you, Paul tells us that according to our faithfulness we may RECIVE a reward much like the GLORY of the sun, he went on to say some will RECIVE a glory no brighter than the moon, but Many because of their like off faithfulness will only have as much glory in as the many differences in brightness as the stars. And of course JESUS referred to those that came to HIS LIGHT and took no Root in the barren ground, and fell away, (Backslide)However some fell into good soil and bore much fruit, and when we stand before the the SAVIOR at the Final Judgement to be divided left with the goats or right hand with SAVIOR'S sheep who responded in this life to HIS voice. (Outer Darkness) awaits those who fell with the third of the angels and Satan from heaven?!?!?!
Hello, My question is: In Psalms 37:11; 29 it speaks of the righteous and the meek will inherit the earth.
Also Mathew 5:5 Jesus said "Happy are the meek for they will inherit the earth."
If Christian's are to go to heaven when they die, how is it they will inherit the earth?
Also is the Old Testament primarily for the Jews?
Is the NT for the Jews and Gentiles?
What does it mean in Ezekiel 18:20 "The soul that sinneth it shall die? Does this mean there's no life after we die? Same with Ecclesiastes 9:5,6 "The living at least know they will die, but the dead know nothing. They have no further reward, nor are they remembered.
6 Whatever they did in their lifetime-loving, hating, envying-is all long gone. They no longer play a part in anything here on earth. NLT

There are people in Prayer Requests that could use a special prayer from those who take Matthew 26, joyfully.
How sad it is that all those who chose to post under this daily verse, have totally ignored the complete verse. Why would it be that we only pick and chose from the Word of God, dismissing what we will.
The verse of the day - "And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved."
Matthew 10:22
I pray that we all will accept Exodus 31:3 - "And I filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship". The Holy Spirit is "the beginning of understanding"; therefore if one ever hears the phrase "we will understand it by and by", let us turn quickly and run the other way. How sad to hear.
I'm unsure which event you are referring to. John 15:19 and John 17:14 shows Jesus saying, that people would hate us (followers of Christ) because we're not like them (of the world) - we don't behave or follow their ways.
But if you're writing about some worldly affairs that we should not be a part of, then you are correct to a point. God has given us the privilege of living in a World prepared for our habitation & enjoyment. There will be many things happening within 'our world' & 'outside our world' of significance. And we will have to deal with all those things, not just with our minds, but also our decisions on how to act. I'm unsure if you are thinking of any specific aspect of worldly affairs but I believe we can be involved in some way with the actions of local/federal government, or against the evils going on around us, or just being salt & light in those dark areas bringing out the light & beauty of Kingdom life. There will be things that the world does that will hold no interest to us or will add nothing to our faith & walk with the Lord (such as their worldly pleasures & pursuits); we can overlook & avoid such things & not clutter our minds & lives with them.
However, you may be thinking of something else or some Scripture that brings out your thoughts.
God is the author and finisher of own faith. He knows all about us, he knew me before I was in my mother womb. The number of hairs on your head no one can probably know except God. He made us not we ourselves. Because of his mercy and Grace, we are still here. If God would deal with any of us because of our sins, we would all perish. Learn of his goodness, and how much he love us. Be kind to one another, show your family and friend and strangers how much you love god. Comments from Matthew 10.
The simple explanation of it: there are 3 groups of people on earth:
Unbelieving Gentiles, Pagans
Gentiles (all born again people, no matter their nationality or church affiliation.). Grafted into the Vine (Christ) by faith.
The Jewish People. In covenant with God ( Genesis 15). In Genesis 32:28, 30
Jacobs NAME was changed to ISRAEL.
Much of what scholars know about Israel's ancient history comes from the Hebrew Bible. According to the text, Israel's origins can be traced back to Abraham, who is considered the father of both Judaism (through his son Isaac) and Islam (through his son Ishmael).
Abraham's descendants were thought to be enslaved by the Egyptians for 400 years before settling in Canaan, which is approximately the region of modern-day Israel.
When World War I ended in 1918 with an Allied victory, the 400-year Ottoman Empire rule ended, and Great Britain took control over what became known as Palestine (modern-day Israel, Palestine and Jordan).
The British controlled Palestine until Israel, in the years following the end of World War II, became an independent state in 1947.
God set His love on Israel. The unsaved world Hates Israel for that one Reason. Armageddon will be fought for that same reason. Then this world will end. Don't be left behind.
John 15:18-19. If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
If we are to have the mind of Christ, It is power to be in his spirit! When we speak the truth in love, the holy spirit will do the work for us. When the spirit convicts people of sin they will either except it or reject it. One thing is for sure, it will convict them of sin! If it does not, then we will agree with Paul, when he says their conscience is seared as with a hot iron! Grace, mercy, and peace be unto you.

It is so true about the times we live in right now. One of my cousins, a female, was just a lesbian but is now a full blown transgender. I have not seen her since and really have no interest to. I still love her, and always will, but feel so bad for what she has done not only to herself but the disgrace she has brought to her mother and father. I really don't blame her I blame satan and the world we live in today. So many evil things, as others you stated, are not just in the world but being force fed to the children while they are still young and in school. As people get brain washed into thinking good is evil and evil good. Also lies are truth and truth lies. Satan at work.
I don't hate people. Even the most wretched. I feel bad for them as they are just enslaved and being used by satan. Them not even knowing it. It truly is sad. As this is all over the world I feel to just pray for eveyone. That the Lord shall open their eyes one day and have mercy on them. We have all make mistakes before.

God Bless you brother.
