Jesus walked the earth near the peak of the Roman empire - Not after its collapse in 476 AD. Think about it - Herod wanted to kill Jesus as a babe, Jesus heals a centurion's servant, Mathew was a tax collector, Paul was take by a centurion to King Agrippa then sent to Caesar in Rome for trial.

Frank, women's choice is a heinous murder. Jesus was especially fond of children and gave a dire warning about anybody who would hurt one. Why do you say our vice-president is self-righteous? I do not see that in him. I am so glad we finally have a president and vice-president who will openly pray and defend the truths in the bible.

Verse 22~Jesus foretold that his followers would be hated in all nations. If Jesus was hated then we know that we will be hated for following him.

34 "Think not that I am come to send peace on earth, I came not to send peace, but a sword". (GOD's HOLY-SPIRIT not dwelling in a man /woman to empower them always result in a person sinking deeper and deeper into the straight-jacket of sin; 35-36 above, gives us one of many examples of this 'sword of GOD'; 2018 this sword is still being use to keep / maintain a Godly household / home).

Frankly, I am tired of reading every being on Earth with your Natural Brains and your Know it Opinions. The Creator knows what he is doing with every being on this Earth from Start to Finish. ALPHA OMEGA. HE IS THE BEGINING AND THE END. WALK BY FAITH, NOT BY SIGHT ANY OF YOU BEINGS TRY TO CHANGE THE BIBLE, NO MATTER WHAT LANGUAGE, HE ALREADY KNOWS WHAT ALL OF US WILL DO. WATCH YOUR SPIRIT SOULS PEOPLE, NOT YOUR NATURAL BEINGS. THE CREATOR HAS THE LAST WORD, NOT ANY OF YOU.

Verse 36: all I. The family have the choice of whether they want to live by Bible standards or not. Those who choose to live by the Bible’s standards and those who don’t will be in conflict.

Verse 42:" And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward. " The emphasis of a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple. I found that fascinating. Because here is Jesus stating that whatsoever we do we have to do it in His Name Only. Not in anyone else.

Verse 37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. 35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. 36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.... Wow! Wow! Wow! God's word is being fulfilled before our eyes.

Verse 29: Not even one sparrow could fall to the ground without Jehovah God knowing about it. We are worth more than sparrow so if God cares for these little creatures, how much more does he care about us?!

Monayah; My question was about whether this particular Simon was actually from Cana of Galilee, as the Greek word may suggest; and not mistakenly called a Canaanite. In the Strong's, like you pointed out, kananites means zealous in Greek; or if its simply a transliteration of the Hebrew name, meaning someone from Cana. My point is simply that I doubt if one of the Apostles was a Canaanite.
  • A disciple on Matthew 10 - 6 years ago
Jesus was sent to the children of Israel because God so loved Israel, and sought to save them. The Light shines upon men's innermost self and exposes the evil, in order for us to bring these things to judgment and be reconciled to God. But not everyone has an interest or need for these good things that Jesus brings; and so what was intended to be the blessing of reconciliation becomes contention.

For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man's foes shall be they of his own household. Variance is described as, the fact or state of being in disagreement: dissension, dispute. This is what the LORD meant in Leviticus 20:26, saying, that He had severed us from other people to be His.
  • Servant of God on Matthew 10 - 6 years ago
10/34, I am not come to send peace but a sword. Anybody literate in the bible knows that a sword is the word, which is truth! Now, truth is a rare commodity in these times, and knowing the Word is truth. In Rev, a two edged sword protrudes from Jesus' mouth, for it cuts both ways, destroying lies and establishing the truth, and the truth is from the Holy Spirit. That is the truth spoken inred

4 Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him. Matthew 10:4International Children’s Bible
4 Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot. Judas is the one who turned against Jesus. Kananaios: Cananaean, Aramaic for Zealot, surname of one of the twelve apostles

Matthew; Why then the mis-spelling? Canaan should then have been written, Kana-aniy(te) which would mean someone of Kana-an not cana-niy(te), or as in the Greek, Kananiy(te). Thanks for taking up this question with me! The rest of my questions about the unlikelihood of Simon being a stranger, esp. a Canaanite, has to be considered in light of the separateness that every Jew was obliged to observe.

    **to: A DISCIPLE**
Κανανίτης is the Greek word in question which means Canaanite. No error here. That is all. Blessings and good tidings to all. Please remember this, “once saved always saved" is false doctrine. If that makes your conscience stir and angry then it is probably for good reason. Doctrine of devil will always provoke anger when light shines on it. Be well, be strong, be not deceived.

"And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved." Matthew 10:22 Coinciding with the transgressors coming to the full, and their casting away all the cords and breaking all the bands, in their furious rage and worthless imagination against the LORD and against His Anointed when they no longer are able to bear with the sound doctrine of Christ's Truth the only thing left for them, to deal with being disrespected and rejected by God is to turn all their forces toward taking away the righteous FROM AMONG THEM, WHO ARE GOOD AND ACCEPTED OF GOD. Everything in us which wants to scream with anger over their wicked perversion and injustice, and NO JUDGMENT must be held in patient endurance and self control even as God has patient endurance and self control and so in our patience we will overcome and gain our souls' salvation IN JESUS' MIGHTY NAME!
  • A disciple on Matthew 10 - 6 years ago
Simon the "Canaanite" seems to be a mistake in the KJV translation; since ALL the Apostles were Israelites, and were strictly brought up to keep separate from non Jews. Plus, more importantly; in the Greek it seems to indicate rather that this Simon was "from Cana" and not a Palestinian Canaanite! Read about all the explaining Peter had to when he was called to go preach to the house of Cornelius.
