Verse 12 Many believe that God sent the start but in this verse we see that Jehovah God is not directing the men to Herod as the star originally had done.

umm...go back and look at Gen.3:15..these are the words of the Father of Jesus also Adam and Eve to the Serpent. The Father would bring about enmity rivalry between Satan who was behind the serpent , and Jesus...Then the Father goes further to state that although Satan would be allowed to bruise Jesus in the heel a death from which he has been resurrected Jesus causes the end of Satan.

Wise men come from the east to worship Christ, Matthew 2:1, Matthew 2:2. Herod, hearing of the birth of our Lord, is greatly troubled, Matthew 2:3; and makes inquiry of the chief priests and scribes, where the Christ should be born, Matthew 2:4. They inform him of the prophecy relative to Bethlehem, Matthew 2:5, Matthew 2:6. The wise men, going to Bethlehem, are desired by Herod to bring him word

Not very wise of the three wise men to ask a murderous king where his replacement has just been born. Cost a lot of mothers a lot of sorrow.

    Replying to Andrew Steinberg:

“ Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.”
    ([KJB_ John 16:13)

Mr. Steinberg (cont.); Jesus is written about distinctly in various and different ways throughout the Holy Scriptures; and is in some way especially shown in each and every Book of the Bible by a certain aspect of His Person and Glory. I would happily begin naming them to you and expounding upon each one, if you like! Start with the 3rd Chapter of 1st Moses, paying special attention to verse 15.
  • A disciple on Matthew 2 - 6 years ago
Mr. Steinberg; You are greatly mistaken! The Spirit of Prophecy IS THE TESTIMONY OF JESUS CHRIST! From the very beginning, the Word of the LORD's Anointed was the whole meaning for the human species to be allowed to live out their lives in this world, AFTER THEY HAD SINNED, AND WERE CONDEMNED TO DEATH BY GOD! Until anyone comes to the Lord with a true heart in repentance there is no understanding!
  • Andrew steinberg on Matthew 2 - 6 years ago
Mathew was the biggest of ,missionaries that painted jesus in the old testement by usinglittle snippets instead of reading the whole chapter. Jesus was never mentioned by Isaiah, Hosea Or any prophet in the old testament , lies . they were lost and of Hellenize Syriac Jews far from the temple and Judah. Mathew lost as far as converting Jews but Paul did get the gentiles to become monotheistic,
  • Deborah on Matthew 2 - 6 years ago
Jesus was destined to save life, even when Herod sought to kill him, he was divinely protected by God. That's how God protects us, nothing can caught short our lives until our destines are fulfilled on earth. Let's all have these faith and never be afraid of pre-mature death no matter the challenges we are facing.

"Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came Magi (Persian Astrologers) from the east to Jerusalem, saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him." God brings about His plans if His people are ready, or not; and He rules over ALL! "And the Gentiles shall come to thy light.."

Mark Diffin, thankfully Matthews credibility is fully intact. It is commonly accepted that many of the OT prophecies have dual meanings (what some refer to as "telescoping prophecies"). Matthews comment in v 23 has been a little more troubling for some but not many. Matthew may have been referring in some way to the OT Nazarite vow. A Nazarene or one that has vowed a Nazarite vow. Blessings!

Yvonne; The Lord DOES want us to know all things and to fully understand His plans. How do we believe in something if we don't understand it? The Bible is a big Book full of knowledge and understanding and everything we need to learn from Him about life, the world, and all we are set to encounter until we're finished with this present existence. The Bible is full of Spirit-inspired prayers for us.
  • Yvonne on Matthew 2 - 7 years ago
I feel that who are we to try to address Gods plan. We might not understand it but he does, we can't change it, we must except it we don't know why, but God knows. The devil used the king Herroud to destroy those children. Jesus father was directed by God through dreams so that Jesus could be saved, he was predestined to die on the cross for your sins and mine. God I thank you.

For reproof, for correction, for instructions in righteousness: v17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished for every good work. Also, Jesus is called the King of the Jews in all 4 gospels Mat, Mk., Lk., and Jn. His accusation or supersciption Pilate had placed on his cross. Jesus was and still is The King of the Jew weather he was in possession of a physical kingdom or not.

I have read some perpostuous comments about the saint of this book. First 2 Peter 1:20,21 says, knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.v22 for the prophecy came not in old times by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were move by

Verse 13 and 14: We see that Jehovah God urged Joseph and Mary to take precautions to protect the life of Jesus. God wants parents today to take precaution to protect their children from danger.
  • Mark Diffin on Matthew 2 - 7 years ago
I love this chapter. First Matthew in v15 quotes half of a verse from Hosea 11:1 since the whole verse would show Hosea is speak of the Israel nation. 2nd in v18 he quote Jeremiah, who is talking of Rachel mourning her children going into exile and not of babies being killed. And to top it off in v23 he quotes a prophesy that does not exist! Thanks Matthew, you have destroyed all your credibility!

3; and Herod was upset and all Jerusalem with him. Why? I can see why Herod didn't want a new king to replace him, but why would the rest of the big city be upset? It was odd too that the scribes and Pharisees didn't know, but the wise men in another country did. Maybe they were the others upset, they didn't know He was coming?
  • Insight777 on Matthew 2 - 7 years ago
God knows what is in the heart, thoughts of people from birth to death. God knows what people are going to do before they do it. God knows before they chose what they will chose. God said Satan has angels. Understand Satan will present himself as an angel of light. Satan will say he is the light! Satan plotted to kill Jesus before his ministry and used these 3 men as scouts. Gods angel intervened.
  • A disciple on Matthew 2 - 7 years ago
Insight; You think that "God would never do that!" But it wasn't God that made Herod be evil. Also as far as God's guidance; we shouldn't think that God wants us to not think and act for ourselves. He has often and many times SENT His servants to speak to those who would respond with hatred, hostility and violence; and He has reasons for everything He directs in the world, even among His enemies.
  • Insight777 on Matthew 2 - 7 years ago
If God Father of Jesus guided the "wise" men they would never have gone to Herod. God would never plan to put his infant son in danger nor plot the death of so many innocent babies so that his son could have perfume and gold. Money is the root of evil. Myrrh is used for embalming Jesus. The word wise is misleading, calling Jesus, King of the Jews not Son of God. Jesus did not rule Israel as king.
