I have always heard that there were three wise men Magi but that is not scriptural there were only three gifts the word never tells us how many that there were I mean if we re going to quote the Bible lets get it right Brothers Sisters May the Lord bless you all and keep you and make his face to shine upon you I speak this in loving kindness of the LORD Jesus Christ amen
janet Moses was a type of Christ He saved is whole family when the earth was over run with water and Christ saved thoses who received him from being destroyed by fire may GOD bless
The three wise men were kings out of the north having squabbled about the boundaries of their kingdoms sent surveyors finding the cave of the ancients with the books of the ancients having read understood they belonged to the Christ who was to be born in Bethlehem
Correction - im probably wrong about Jesus not being a baby at the time after I read further. I have just heard this before. I probably need to do further research.
This was not the baby Jesus, but the "child' Jesus. The wise men had been traveling for some time. Many scholars believe he was about 2 years old at this time. It's amazing to see that even at a young age, He was worshiped for He is King of kings and Lord of lords! Thank God He died for our sins to put us in a place of acceptance of God if we repent and accept his unspeakable gift!
i just took the intermediate quiz and i was marked that i gave the wrong answer to the question regarding Herod and baby Jesus. the questions answer was multiple choice. i picked the correct answer but your test has the answer wrong thus said i got it wrong. Herod told the wise men to look for Jesus and when they find Him to tell Herod "so he can come and worship him also" is what i put and is what is in the biblical text. though you have the correct answer as "so he could kill him". but the way the verse says it and the way the question is presented is very much the same as though one would finish the verse and it would be , so he could worship him also. yes i know his thoughts were to kill Jesus. but what Herod said to the wise men was "so he could worship him" so someone needs to fix that.
THERE ARE MANY LESSON TO BE FOCUS ON IN MATTHEW 2 1.DON'T WORRY GOD SEND YOU PROTECTION 2.ALWAYS PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR SURROUNDING 3.ALWAYS LISTEN AND FOLLOW GODS WORD
I think the star was a special placement of Jupiter and Saturn this year. The magi knew about some prophesies in the old testament, that must be the reaso0n why they set off. When these two stars were together for a while, they stopped moving west in the night and instead moved back for a while, because of the rotation of the earth. And that is likely to have happened over Betlehem.
in this passage we see how god instructs thru his angels to move away from danger to the child jesus life until the right time (the message I read for us in our personal lives is that god has a plan for each one of us and we should be willing to wait patiently and act at the right time.)
When the devil is out to destroy you, GOD will give you a way to escape. He will put a hedge of protection around you. He will lead and guide you all the way if you just listen to the voice. You will be able to avoid a lot of chaios in your life.
The birth of the Christ or to be precise the 'incarnation' is the biggest manifestation of God's love to the weaklings like us and the biggest of all the miracles performed by God ever!
Fred,
Let’s take a closer look at what Mathew 2:2 says.
“Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.
We know the wise men came from the east from verse 1. Now focus on the portion of verse 2 that says “for we have seen his star in the east”. The “in the east” portion is referring to the “we” and not “his star”. It’s like saying, we in the east have seen his star. You’re right, the star was to their west. I believe the author was just trying to focus our attention on where the wise men came from. The east.
God's love to us was born in Bethlehem a place that was not so perfect for the King of kings in our canal eyes but chose a humble and small place.God is teaching us how to always be humble.
The reason why evil deeds are high during christmas season is that Herod (devil) will always like to avenge on christians (wise
men) ,cos he was tricked during the birth if Christ.
Timothy Wayne George on Matthew 2:18 - 10 years ago
In Ramah, was heard weeping and much lamentation. Rachel weeping for her children. This shows the providence of God to protect the Lord Jesus Christ from Herod, who is angry that the wise men did not report to him where the Child was. So God warned Joseph in a dream, to flee with Mary and the Child to Egypt. This fulfilled scripture which said out of Egypt have I called my Son. Just as Joseph was sent to Egypt to save Israel, the Lord Jesus was called out of Egypt to save the world. Praise God for His wise counsel, and for the wise men obeying God. For when they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. Wise men still seek Him today, and I pray you will too.
God protects his own and gives clear instructions through angelic beings. He is upfront and cannot be taken by surprise. He knew Herod's troubled heart and plans.
The wise men did not come to the manger where we see them in so many depictions, but rather the "the house" where he was. He was by this time just under two years old. That's why Herod had children two and under killed, according to the time he had inquired of the wise men.
There are signs everywhere that can lead us to the savior. We must follow their leading as the wise men did. We are faced with many problems in this world and few real solutions. Seek Christ always, He has the solutions.
