I hope this will help a little.

Disciple - we go over and over the same scriptures because after a few days this site removes them and 'later' ones on here don't get to see them. There are people on here sincerely looking for answers - and they are getting various answers to the same needs, BUT - it's God will show them His answers, amongst them all.

What are "fundamental doctrines"?

Reading Matthew Henry's Commentary is very edifying. It makes me wonder how hard it is to find, that Christians today can have a meaningful discussion about the things of the Lord. I wonder how much some have us to keep going over and over the same fundamental doctrines of the faith and trying to expound the sense and meaning of the Word! For the lateness of the hour, we ought to be farther along.

Thank You Lord for enduring all these for us.

"Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders," This has always struck me as powerfully important. When a man does wickedly, and afterwards sees the things he did come to their expected results, and feels scared and sorry for himself; how doesn't he go to God in "repentance?"

1 Corinthians 12:18 "But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him." Bruce; everyone who loves the Lord Jesus is our brother and sister; and God has ordained that we be saved by faith in the words told us by other men. Our part is to try the spirits, whether they are of God; and not to despise or reject any who are not against us, but really on our part.

To anyone that may be confused about reading a commentary about the Bible - such as Matthew Henry's Bible commentaries which are on here (at the top of each pg. along with 'comments') - a commentary is using WISDOM in reading it - and God BLESSES wisdom. As with the Bible - we should pray for His wisdom in reading it. There are many other 'modern' commentaries online.

Thank you Jesus for Your sacrifice for me, an undeserving sinner. Jesus suffered because of our transgression. By His stripes we are healed.

Satan is a roaring lion, a powerful demon,he can use the littlest thing to drive someone into the lake of fire! Using The Lord's Word correctly has everything to do with someone's salvation. To Bruce, one month ago; I didn't say 'centurions' ..........; I'm not upset by your 'correction', I just know what I said. And come to that - 'centurions, priests, and Pharisees - have NOTHING to do with - salvation. So a mistaken word in such a place isn't hurting anybody. And - they can simply read it for themselves - which they ought to do anyway - Acts 17:11.

We read these things, and our hearts break with anguish, and we can't believe ANYONE could be so hateful and cruel! All through their history, the disobedient children of Israel have sought every way to break their bands of God, and the world has watched with disgust. But are not the Nations doing the same?

It was prophecy that our Savior was to be crucified from the time Eve and Adam were literally and spiritually seduced. God told Satan, "I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; It shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise His heel." He came here to destroy death: the devil. If you believe on Him, you will be saved; but if you don't, you will die in hell.

Worthy the lamb that was slain. His kingdom shall have no end.

Irene123: centurions did not ask pilot to secure the grave. V:62-66: the chief priests and Pharisees came to asked pilate to secure the grave.

Matt. 27:3 - Judas saw what he did - too late. Even though Jesus will forgive 70 times 7 - there is a line. And we willingly cross it. It depends on what we crossed the line for, and how the Lord has been dealing with us not to do so, whether He accepts our repentance or not. We must not even consider committing sin, because we don't know where that 'line' is for us with God.

V. 34 - it says they brought to Him vinegar mixed with gall; He 'tasted' it, but would not drink it - because in His suffering was our salvation. Gall is myrrh - which is an anesthetic for pain. He also could have simply come down of His own power, or called angels, but we would have no salvation.

I didn't 'see' this myself; I read it in a book. V. 63 - the Centurians had more 'faith' than the disciples; they asked of Pilate that a guard be set at Jesus' tomb, because - they had heard...............; the disciples completely forgot about what Jesus said.

To Lois - I like your 'assessment' of the color. And too, it could be that scarlet and purple were interchangeable back then - in that area. I don't 'think' it matters; it doesn't appear to apply to salvation .....?

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

He will swallow up death in victory and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it. Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them, and will reveal unto them the abundance of peace and truth. For he created all things, that they might have their being: and the generations of the world were healthful and there is no poison of destruction in them, nor the kingdom of death upon the earth: For it was neither herb, nor mollifying plaister, that restored them to health: but thy word, O Lord, which healeth all things. For of the most High cometh healing, and he shall receive honour of the king. That thy way may be known upon earth, thy saving health among all nations.

Lord have mercy,

They are the first covenant saints look at Rev. Ch.4 the twenty four elders they have there crowns and are in Heaven....He led captivity captive when he ascended on high and have gifts unto men....you see Thy dead men shall live together with My dead body....look it up so when Jesus died this came to pass...and more.

I believe the reason the accounts differ in the color of the robe is because either Matthew or Mark and John did not see the robe until after the soldiers scourged Jesus, when the blood of Jesus soaked in the robe made the robe appear to be a different color.

Some folk love to see you suffer, they sat and watched him suffer, like the world does us...the elders the writers/Scribes, the prophets that knew what the prophesy said, the Jews and gentiles all sat and watched him suffer even to the mocking and scurging to death! But early that 3rd day morning!
