GOD does NOT make undercover secret Christian that do not magnify ThyWORD of Thy whole name. Only way I can be a light is if I set a mans heart on fire for Christ. He might become saved by faith right then or he might be red fiery hot mad at me but he might later on become a fire for my Lord Jesus Christ. May GOD allow me to be in the number that sets the world on fire with the gospel that saves 1Chorinthians15:1-4. Amen. The Truth is the ISSUE !!

    Hi BSP.

You have a lot to offer and we thank you for that, but have you thought about fitting much of that on one post or one thread so some of the other post can stay on the 1st page a little longer? It makes browsing a lot easier.

Not a demand. Thanks and God bless.

Verse 45-God is so good and generous towards all people. He provides rain and sunshine even for those who do not acknowledge Him or those who act wickedly.

The shrinks like to say we get angry because we are afraid. The issue often is when we know something to be right; and people don't listen to what we say. There are also cases where we want something we can't have or are retaliating to someone else's bad behavior.

With anything else; it helps to look at the scriptures and meditate on them day and night ( Joshua 1:8). Obviously; we need to ask the Holy Spirit to remove things that would be roots of bitterness ( Hebrews 12:14-16). The evidence of bad fruit from a corrupt heart is found in the gospels ( Matt. 15:19). Other verses such as 1 Peter 2:1-2 and Ephesians 4:26-32 offer further advice.

I hope you will trust the Lord for these changes; not yourself. I found that after the anger that came from a contentious divorce after my wife had an affair was dealt with by much prayer; and counselling based on a study in the Book of James. (see James 1:19). God can and will give you unconditional love even toward your enemies. That was how I was able to forgive my dad after years of mental abuse; by telling him that I loved him. It is helping me having to live with him now.

Jesus' long list of reversals in chapter 5 concludes with this one. His listeners had grown up under a partly correct teaching. God's Word does, indeed, command us to love our neighbor as our self ( Leviticus 19:18). However, it seems that the religious leaders were also teaching that it was permissible-possibly even mandatory-to hate one's enemies ( Matthew 5:43). Jesus again declares that God's intent for the righteousness of His people goes beyond selfishness and legalism. It implies something much more difficult and more like God Himself.

Instead of only acting in love towards neighbors, Jesus tells His disciples to love their enemies and even to pray for those who persecute them. Though few people live this out, in a meaningful way, the idea is deeply ingrained in western culture. Many modern people have heard this teaching, or variations on it, all our lives. That makes it easy to forget how radical the claim was, especially for those who live with daily threats from dire enemies, as did the first-century Israelites.

Christ does nothing to take the edge off this command, either. This is not described as emotional love, or affection. This kind of love is meant to be expressed in action. Offering prayers to God for people who are actively hurting you, especially for being associated with Christ, requires looking at the world in a completely different way. Jesus will escalate the difficulty of His command in the following verses.

It's hard in this current world of media, to practice this teaching of Jesus. We have to disconnect from worldliness and live as Jesus desired us to do. We have to embrace His Cross in order to do this. He gave himself for us, so that through His sacrifice; we can live as He asks of us. It's best to avoid senseless conflicts when you can. I think of what Jesus would do.__

Matthew 5:44 "But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;"

Who are our enemies? What does it mean to love your enemies?, what kind of love do we love them? how actions do we take to extend such love?

How does it mean to bless our enemies? What actions do we take to bless them?

Who are our persecutors? what kind of prayers do we pray for them? What kind of relations should we maintain with our prosecutors? Should we maintain distance from our prosecutors though we forgive them?

    Thank you.

Reply to Maria. The OT observances of the Sabbath were mandatory. There are no mandatory NT observances of the Sabbath.
  • Maria - In Reply on Matthew 5 - 2 years ago
The Sabbath is a commandment of God. In the book of " Exodus 20" the 4th commandment. It says "remember to keep the Sabbath, six days you shall do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath, you shall keep it holy unto your God. Sunday is the first day of the week. the Sabbath starts from sundown on Friday to sundown on Saturday.
  • Chris - In Reply on Matthew 5 - 2 years ago
Hi Sarah. The Jewish Sabbath starts from the evening of the Friday according to our Gregorian calendar. They keep to the same dates as we have them, except that their year is different (their current year is 5782). So whether your calendar shows Sunday as the first day of the week or Monday as the first, it won't matter, as the Sabbath will always start from Friday evening. And all their other holidays & observances are based on the calendar we have.

As the Jew remains under the Law, it is imperative that they abide to the given Law, for by it they will be judged ( Romans 2:12). But for the one In Christ, our judgement was at the Cross & the Law has no hold or gives any penalty to us ( Romans 8:1-4).
  • Giannis - In Reply on Matthew 5 - 2 years ago
    Dear Sarah

It depends where someone lives. In Europe Sunday is considered as the last day of the week, according to the International Standard System. In US Sunday is the first day of the week. For ancient Jews as well as early Christians, Sunday, (which Christians called Lord's Day) was the first day of the week, since Sabbath was the seventh and last day. GBU.
  • Sarah Henning on Matthew 5 - 2 years ago
How do we declare the Sabbath? Referring to 7th day? There are calendars where Monday is first and also where Sunday is first. Thank you. Ev. Sr. Henning

Yes, this is the "Good News" we are to tell others-that their sins are forgiven in the name of Jesus, by the power of Jesus, through the blood sacrifice of Jesus!

  • Phil Ramberg - In Reply on Matthew 5 - 2 years ago
Thank you, I believe if someone asks you to bless them, or can you forgive me, I say to them, believe all your sins forgiven in Jesus name and precious Blood. Or close to that.
  • GiGi - In Reply on Matthew 5 - 2 years ago
    Hi Phil,

We are to forgive others (and tell them so) who have sinned against us because our own sins are forgiven in Jesus (we can say that, too.) Having an attitude of forgiveness is really important because we will sin against others and them against us throughout our lives.

We can tell people that their sins are forgiven when they repent from them and believe the gospel that Jesus died as a sacrifice for our sins and the sins of those who believe in Him are forgiven and removed from us.

We can assure a penitent believer caught up in sin to remember that we can confess our sins to Jesus and He is faithful and just to forgive us.

So, I would say, yes, to your question. But the forgiveness really comes from God, not men, even our ability to forgive others who sin against us is from the Holy Spirit within us to work in us this forgiving spirit.
  • Karen Lee Porter - In Reply on Matthew 5 - 2 years ago
No. We have no authority to do so. That Catholic nonsense.
  • Richard H Priday - In Reply on Matthew 5 - 2 years ago
Very interesting question. Only God can forgive sin; but we are told to "confess our sins to one another". ( James 5:16). We are told to reconcile with a brother before "offering a gift before the altar" ( Matthew 5:24). If we bear unforgiveness in our hearts; then the effectiveness of His grace is stunted; for the woman who put the perfume on Christ was forgiven much so she loved much ( Luke 7:47).

All of us individually are accountable before God. We can forgive "seventy times seven" ( Matthew 18:22); and Ephesians 4:32 indicates that we are to forgive others even as God has forgiven us. If we don't forgive others then God won't forgive us according to Matthew 6:14-15. This wouldn't necessarily indicate that we are nonbelievers; but if we don't bear fruit "worthy of repentence" ( Matthew 3:8-10) then we have to seriously test ourselves to see if we are in the faith ( 2 Cor. 13:5).

So the short answer is that God can only forgive others if they are wanting forgiveness. Each of us is judged individually; and since we are not God we don't have the authority as Christ did to forgive sins as the Pharisees stated only God can forgive sins ( John 20:23). Confessing our sins to one another can allow transparency so that the Lord can possibly speak a word of wisdom which in turn gives someone a better understanding of themselves; as well as clearing up what can be a stone wall in relationships ( Prov. 18:19). The best we can do is a formulaic process to give a partial assessment of sins in others as only God knows the intentions and motives of the heart even if the Spirit gives us a glimpse into such things. It is the same as asking can we save anyone by "confessional regeneration". The words are only effective if God grants one repentance first ( Acts 11:18; etc). Indirectly then; forgiving one another allows God to repair the sin or estrangement with Him.

    Dennis,

The answer is that there is no difference between kingdom of heaven and kingdom of God. Matthew used the term "kingdom of heaven" 32 times. Nobody else used it. Please keep in mind that Matthew's gospel was written to the Jews. This is important in understanding why Matthew would use the term kingdom of heaven.

The reason Matthew used kingdom of heaven was because the Jews don't say the name "God." So instead of "Kingdom of God" they say "Kingdom of Heaven." And when the Jews say Heaven it is capitalized. Or, they will say the "Kingdom of The Name," (HA SHEM). God is "The Name." But they will not say the word God.

So, "Kingdom of Heaven" and "Kingdom of God" are the same phrases. One phrase is Gentile and one phrase is Jewish. I hope this answers the question.

  • Dondi - In Reply on Matthew 5 - 2 years ago
Revelations 11:4 speaks of two witnesses the 2 olive trees and 2 candlesticks. Zechariah 4:1-14 lets you know a olive tree is Gods people Romans 11:13:24 tells you that the original olive tree is Israel the wild olive tree is the gentiles. They both have to be graphed into the root. A candlestick is a church look at Revelations 1:20. These two groups will receive a power like never before to preach the truth to the whole world during the tribulation. They will have a warrior type power like Moses or Elijah. They will be the enemy of this world but for the first 3.5 years nobody will be able to stop them. Then they will be killed and the world will be happy but then they live again in front of people. God proves once again that he is the only God. Not everybody that says I believe will enter the kingdom of heaven. Some of these people God will say part from me I never knew you. If you read revelations chapters 2 and 3 you will see that there were and are two types of churches that God approves, the other 5 he does not.

Hi Alex N; So our theology does not agree, OK, but at least we agree in the kingdom, I see it as having three names; of heaven, of God, of Christ. Three manifestations 1. inwardly 2. outwardly as governments 3. New Jerusalem Finally three dispensations, #1 from the time Christ died until he the midnight hour #2 From the midnight hour, until the end of the millennium. #3 From the end of the millennium, into eternity. Yet you see the one kingdom as only coming at his second coming, also you mention Israel, as though they had something to do with the kingdom of God, but this is not so, the kingdom was taken from them in parables and given to a nation that would bring forth the fruits thereof. I struggle with your thought that we as Christians must bring forth the Holy Ghost as the man child, as I have informed you he is not the man child, the overcomer as a Christian is the man child, just compare Rev. 12:5-6 to Rev. 2:26-27 There you discover the one who rules the nations with the rod of iron are Christians who overcame, as I said earlier they are called the sons of God, being male in gender and referred unto as the man child. Once again; you refer unto the baptism of the Holy Ghost, which is a conditional promise according to John 7:37-39 for anyone who thirsts, they must go to Christ and drink, three conditions are laid upon Christians seeking this baptism, first the thirst, second coming to Christ and third drinking, although not necessarily in that order. Yet you are right about the bible stating there is only one kingdom, but this has three names, three manifestations and three dispensations, concerning that one kingdom. Please remember, the millennial kingdom and the New Jerusalem kingdom are offered unto all Christians, but not all Christians will inherit them, as you must have faith with works, meeting the conditions specified by the Lord Jesus and the apostles, to be able to enter the second and third dispensation of the kingdom.

Hiya Dr. Lyle Lee....The last 2000 yrs have been ( 2 days ) the great Abomination of Desolation that Jesus warns us about when NO MAN CAN WORK.....We have had no Prince of peace,... Nothin but Wars and senceless killings...I am the light of the world But the Nite comes when NO MAN can work....The last 2000 yrs have been nothin but darkness...I am the light of the world but the nite comes when no man can Work...Do you not realise that 6.5 Million Jews died in this WW 2....Simply b/c we are in that time of darkess Jesus warns us about....As Isaiah said darkness will cover the earth and gross darkness the PPL ...We see this every day....Even the big mega Church are all desolate.....As Jesus said the day of the LORD WILL COME TILL THERE 1ST COME A GREAT FALLING AWAY AND THAT MAN OF SIN BE REVEALED.....Dr Lee remember there was no good WINE till the 3 rd day.....They ran outta of wine at the 1 st day wedding...Pentacost......And the last 2 days 2000 yrs have been a time of desolation WHEN no man CAN WORK.....But we hope for the best WINE to day.

In this Millenium.....The ppl of Israel did not become a nation Again till 1948...May 14 th.....But there were 2000 yrs of desolation.....Remember Hosea said after 2 days will he raise us up and on the 3 rd will he revive us.....But there has to be a 2000 yr period of 2 days in the sight of God..... Hosea 6 : 2 .....If ya read Matthew 13 we see that the parable of the Sower and his precious seed is the only way the Kingdom can ONLY come is by sowing that good seed is mans hearts....Thats ye always refers to himself as the SON OF MAN....Simply b/c mankind is gona have a Baby,....Which is the H.G that Child of PROMISE.....Thats y he is saying behold i send the Promise of my Father upon you which was baptism of the H.G. Which is the multiplication of Christ Jesus in US that hear his words ( his seeds ) ....But the bible is not telling us there are 2 kingdoms......its just impling an intermission of 2 days 2k yrs...2 days....GBU DR
  • Dr. Lyle Lee - In Reply on Matthew 5 - 2 years ago
Hi Alex N; glad to hear from you again, this subject is one of great depth concerning the kingdom, perhaps I understand this doctrine differently than you do as the first dispensation and manifestation of the kingdom has happened already. When we were born again we enter the kingdom John 3:5 The Apostle Paul taught we were translated from darkness into the kingdom of Christ, which I believe refers unto our spirit alone in Colossians 1:13 Again we already received the kingdom in Hebrews 12:28 These truths cannot be denied, Yet we look forward to the millennial kingdom of God as in Revelation 20:4 knowing this kingdom of Christ will come as you mentioned in Revelation 12:10 which indicates the middle of the seven year tribulation. Now we differ as I believe the man child are the sons of God, Christians who are mature, being led by the Holy Ghost, as in Romans 8:14 I cannot accept the man child to be the Holy Ghost, for the man child is raptured in Rev. 12:5-6 in the middle of the tribulation, yet the bible affirms constantly the Holy Ghost is here on earth working in the 144,000 the two witnesses, and all children of God during the tribulation, and such like. I do not interpret the woman as humanity, like you do, as the woman to me is the church of Jesus Christ as in Rev. 12:17 she has the testimony of Christ and keeps commandments, Israel does not have these things, and the world does not have these things either, only the church can have these things. Remember the woman is clothed with the sun, a metaphor for the gospel, the moon under her feet, meaning to have power over Satan and all fallen angels, which only the church has in the name of Jesus Christ. You are right to call the city New Jerusalem the kingdom of heaven, as this kingdom of God comes after the millennial kingdom of Christ, yet it is the final manifestation of the kingdom of heaven. I will ask therefore, have you taken into account, not all Christians will make it into the kingdom. Mat.7:21
