To Devlin if your still reading this, yes it does state in the bible that Jesus is God. Please read, John 1:1 in the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. I don't know you, your age, earthly age or Christian age. You made baby Christian for a season one. I won't make an assumption. I was a Christian for many years before I realized "Word" is capitalized! Word is Christ!!! Just replace "Word" with"Christ". I think bc not only was Christ sent here to die for our sins but, also to be the earthly voice of God. If we were to hear the voice of God I believe it would be to much for a human to handle.

Love this scripture. Our Lord Jesus really lets us know how to please the Father while living in harmony one with another. Among my favorite chapters of Matthew. God bless

Jesus was persecuted , He was reviled ,and all manner was spoken against Him falsely : The religious leaders did it in thinking they were upholding God in their accusations toward Jesus : Jesus was walking in God's will : and so for us who walk in God's will : religious people will do the same toward us . We are a Blessed people : even though we get knocked down for it.
  • Jermontez Jackson on Matthew 5 - 8 years ago
It doesn't because jesus already knew what was coming.

Father in heaven, give us pure hearts to love our neighbor and to love and bless our enemies as there are many. And make us to know that all scripture is Your Word Father. In Christ Jesus our Lord and precious Saviour I pray and give thee thanks, Father. Amen 2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

I must say I thank god for the affliction that may come my way. My afflictions makes my walk with the Lord much stronger. The lord never said this walk would be easy. If they persecuted Jesus what makes us any different?

C-Dub, You make a very broad statement by saying "we" forget about what Jesus says. And "we"go straight to what Paul teaches. How do you know that "we" do this?
Furthermore, Paul was saved, he preached the cross, he lived and died for Jesus, he encourages all in the faith in his letters that scripture gives us, and pointed out their errors. Paul gives us wholesome words.

physical food does not satisfy at all times. Jn. 4:24 says God is a Spirit and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in Truth, for the father seeketh such to worship him. Jesus lived a life of fasting and overcame all spiritual oppositions while on earth. see matt. 17:21. It pays to wait on the Lord to be victorious,to win battles against the kingdom of darkness, and be spiritually focused, and be Spiritfilled.

I think it is funny how many people just shrug off the fact that this is JESUS speaking to us. We go straight to Paul's teachings all the time and forget about anything Jesus has said. This verse is metaphorically speaking of a form of communion. We are to take of the flesh and blood of Christ which is to read His Word, eat the bread of life, and to drink of his blood, the Holy Spirit and spring of living water that cleanses us from our sins. For our example is Christ and he spoke of obedience to His words and examples, not just expecting grace and His death to do it all. If this was the case then why did He even die on the cross. Our Father God could have just said, "I accept them all" and done away with hell all together. God Bless.

  • Fred Hart on Matthew 5 - 8 years ago
i think that the humble ones are seen as weak, but God the heavenly father delight in them to reveal the things of His kingdom for the meek to profit. Humility is all that one requires to forgive his offenders.

Only when we see our desperate need for our Father in Heaven and his provision for us "Jesus Christ" can we receive all the good that he has in store for us. Jesus said he is the bread of life, and to the women at the well he said if you drink of my water you will not thirst. Accepting him in all his fullness.

To be poor in spirit I think means those who always want to learn more of the word of God daily, who feels is a work in progress and needs to study the word of God daily to be fulfilled and rely solely on God for divine direction in all areas of life, humbling thy self and not thinking that he or she knows more or is better than any other.Thanks.

salt was is mined. interestingly enough, the saltiest salt is nearest the core, or vein. the less savoury is outer layers and closer to the elements. quite an analogy of the christian life do you not think?

Verse 17 Jesus Said he did not come to destroy but to fulfill Luke 24: 44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the Law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in psalms, concerning me. He fulfilled the law of sacrifice because he was the perfect sacrifice. Till heaven and earth pass

  • O'Shen Robinson-Barefield on Matthew 5 - 8 years ago
This is amazing, after being baptized, tempted by the devil while fasting, this is the first thing he had to say after coming out of the wilderness. These are all commandments and revelation of the kingdom of heaven to men. We see here that righteousness is more than being good and treating other good people well. But righteousness is loving, forgiving, and serving those we feel don't deserve it.

Let get this understanding John 10 verse 30 tells us what Jesus said about what Jesus Said about. His Father he said he and his Father was one they are one because Jesus is God son.and it goes like this God the Father Jesus the Son and the Holy Ghost now the holy Ghost is what Jesus said he left here for those that are his if U have received the holy Ghost which he left as a gift so pray received

What beautiful teachings of holiness Christ revealed to the crowd and the boldness he proclaimed to the Scribes and Pharisees about the life of a follower of Christ. It is holiness or hell regardless of our thoughts and we can live perfect through obedience to His Word. Rightly dividing what being perfect is has always been controversial. Yes we can be overcome but we do not continue in sin.
