  • Timothy Wayne George on Matthew 5 - 12 years ago
Dear John, there is always hope in Jesus. Now abides faith, hope, and love. The greatest of these is love. God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, so that who ever would believe on him would not perish, but have everlasting life. Just ask Jesus to come into you heart, as your personal Savior. He will save you, and give you the blessed hope of seeing him when he comes to take us to heaven. Until then find a church that teaches the blood atonement, and be baptized. Fellowship with other believers so that you can grow in the grace, and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. May the Lord bless you richly.
  • LINDA on Matthew 5 - 12 years ago
I think that matthew also revers to walking with god, a very personal thing we all need with the lord. i myself will so try to find out to have this personal relationship with my god also.
  • John on Matthew 5:13 - 12 years ago
Does this mean there is no hope for me anymore?
  • Chalonia on Matthew 5:16 - 12 years ago
Let your salvation be known before all that they may see God's work through you and want to serve and praise the God u serve
  • Gary Greene on Matthew 5 - 12 years ago
To me an important part of this chapter is to pray for your enemies. This is such a wonderful scripture.
  • Lynna on Matthew 5 - 12 years ago
I love this chapter. I feel that this is like an update to the commandantments. The Sermon on the Mount is said with love and kindness, to show God's desire for man to have peace, easiness in life and a great end.
  • Conrado Jumanan, Jr on Matthew 5 - 12 years ago
This Sermon at the Mount not only refer to those people during the ministry of Christ our Lord and Savior, but also to our time today. It tell us how to live a Chritian life and how to love and understand each other. We are all sons of God. To obtain Peace, unity, and understanding, we need to always remember our Lord's sermon at the mount, and do this in our real life. Revenge has no space in heaven and on earth. since the Glory of God must always remain in our hearth everyday of our life. The Good leader must lead his people to peace, unity and sobreity inoder to remain in God's guidance, and not killing his people that leads to war and separation from the guidance of the Lord our God. Peace! Peace! this is the sacred tenor of Christ when He appeared after His resurrection from His grave and once again meet His disciples. He said Peace be with you. What a wonderful greetings. Paul. remember, in all his letters. he always greet the people "Peace be with you all in the name of Jesus our Lord and Savor. I wish that all men shall be united in PEACE AND TOGETHER WE SHALL MEET OUR LORD AT HIS JUDGEMENT WITH OPEN ARMS. MAY THE PEACE OF OUR LORD REMAIN IN OUR LIFE EVERY MINUTE, EVERYDAY, A M E N .

    Wally's,

Many Believers find themselves in this very perdicamit...Some times we can get cought up on serface problems in other peoples lives, and how peoples lifestiles dont line up with our "Religion" I might sugjest we trace serface broblems to root causes and focus on the "Relationship" with God, rather than the "Religion". God can, and will use anyone He wants to, to do his work in peoples lives. I myself would love to play a significant role in those lives around me to save all from hell, but if i havent developed that relationship enough with God so that i may be blameless in the eyes of God, we might want to put our focus on our own relationship with Him, before we try to win the others. If we do nothing but build our personal relationship with God, and pray in secret for others...God will guid you and GOD will work in you and in the others lives. Its hard to not want to just go and proclame God to all...but sometimes the Power of prayer is more effective. The one most important thing that needs to be on the top of our priority list, is our PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP with Him...God and his Love Changes people...not us. "Christ IN you, the hope of Glory" as we know this is our purpose on this earth, to bring glory to GOD. I myself fall short every single day. Our goal before anything else needs to be, learning how to walk in his holey spirit as adam and eve did before the fall. (the kingdome of heaven)translated means: the rularship of God. In us there is no good thing..but the fruit of the Spirit:love, joy, PEACE,patience...If we can learn to walk in his Spirit, you may find that you wont need a pastors degree for your own walk with God to change the lives of those around you. For your personal studying, i would recamend reading and memorizing Romans 5,6 and 7...it will change your life. Do not get discoraged! David was a man after God's own heart and remember the sins he commited...the answers are in HIS word...blessed are YOU when you hunger and thurst after rightiousness...and you will be filled. Create in me a clean heart, oh God, and renew a Right spirit with in me. God weighs and tests our hearts...cry out to him and as for his wisdome and he promises that you will recieve it. Hope that helpped a little bit...i'll keep you in my prayers, God Bless!
  • Sanobia on Matthew 5 - 12 years ago
Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. (KJV) It is possible even in a fleshly body to be perfect, anyone who tells you sin is apart of our fleshly form is wrong.
  • Harry on Matthew 5 - 12 years ago
Did any of God's people hear the words of Jesus, our Lord and Savior concerning God's ten commandments? From the words of Jesus the ten commandments are not done away with. Since this is true, I would like to know why the fourth commandment is violated every first day of the week by everyone who goes to church on Sunday? We know that the Bible is all truth. If it is not in the Bible then it has to be a lie. Satan is the father of lies and he is the master counterfeiter, therefore all of God's people should prayerfully seek God for the truth. We must remember that not one sinner will be allowed entrance into the city and they will not have a right to the tree of life. Who do Jesus say will be allowed to into the city and who will be able to eat from the tree of life? "Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city." ( Revelation 22:14) Let God be true and every man a liar.
  • Doris Early on Matthew 5:41 - 12 years ago
To Robert the first commenter... The word PERFECT means Mature.
  • Robert Tackett on Matthew 5 - 12 years ago
I think Matthew 5 leaves everyone born on the planet without exception outside of what it takes to qualify to enter the kingdom of God. "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect." Well folks, that leaves me out. It leaves out everyone that was getting ready to stone that lady, when Jesus was like, yeah the law says to stone her, so he that is without sin, well, you can throw the first rock, then he bent down and started writing stuff on the ground. Everyone slowly left, from the least to the greatest. The only one that was left standing with the lady was the only one who would have been justified to pick up a rock and throw it at her, and that was Jesus. He looks up and sees everyone left, and asks where her accusers were. After she points out that they all left, he told her that he wasn't accusing her either and for her to go and sin no more. Should we always strive to do good in God's eyes? Most certainly. But when it comes down to it, of all the good things I may have done, I still fall short. I got nothing. All my good works cannot offset one sin. The only thing that can do that is the Blood of Jesus Christ. Whithout the shedding of blood, there is no remission. That's all I got; the blood of Christ. If that's not good enough, and Judgement day is a real event, then we all know the outcome. I'm believing for good, great, wonderful things. I have to; I have two young daughters. I'm believing for the same leniency Jesus gave the lady being accused of adultry, not because I did anything worthy to deserve it, but because of his sacrifice of love for my sake, and that of the people of the world.
  • Timothy Wayne George on Matthew 5 - 12 years ago
Well Wally, your comments are well taken, and it is good that you want to be a role model in the community. Jesus said "let your light shine, so that men will see your good works, and glorify God."
By allowing the Holy Spirit to live the christian life in you, will cause many in your town to turn to the Lord Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of the sins. Jesus is the completion of the Law, and that is why when we accept Jesus as our personal
Savior, we are born again into the family of God. The righteousness of Christ is imputed to our account by faith, and God looks at us as his son Jesus. When Jesus said to be perfect, as our father in heaven is perfect, this is how we do it. If we confess our sin, God is faithful and just to forgive our sin and cleanses us from all unrighteousness. Jesus is our advocate, and he is at the right hand of the father making intercession for us. So don't be ashamed to witness to your neighbors about the hope that is with in you. May God give you the strength from this day forward to let your light shine for Jesus.
  • Wally on Matthew 5 - 12 years ago
I am going through some difficult times right now. I come from a small northern town in Canada, but modern technology has reached us here too. Almost everybody I know has an Xbox or a PS3, and a computer, and satellite T.V. and they pretty much allow their kids free reign over these things as well, in some cases to great detriment to their kids. It almost seems like we here in my hometown are all doomed because hardly anybody here lives according to Matthew 5, including myself. We here have seemed to lose our connection to religion, as the residential school system, with it's hellfire and brimstone teachings, sexual, physical, and mental abuse, seperation from parents and family which broke the family structure and caused most of my people to lose, or at least damage, their parental instincts, and these things trickled down the generations and are still affecting many of us today. It has really turned a lot of people off. Most of us here love God, but are afraid of religion. The preists and nuns that taught our parents and grandparents really used fear as a way of keeping the kids in line. Isn't God supposed to be about love and kindness. In my community, the organized religion really damaged it's reputation and standing amongst many in the community and instead of creating good christians, they created many drunks and fornicators and abusers. I personally want to be closer to God and Jesus, but I need to find a way that won't alienate me from my community. I know that blessed are the persecuted, but I love everyone here in my community and I would love it if every one of us made it into the kingdom (there are only 300 people here and I know and love everyone), and I don't want to be ostracized from my own community. I am only a man and I am not as strong as Jesus who was an outcast in his own community. It wouldn't do anything but make me into an outcast anyways, as people here don't want anybody preaching religion to them for the reasons I already outlined earlier. My predicament is that I do want to get everyone closer to God, in a way that will work. People around here put a lot of value on credibility. My going around town here yelling like John the Baptist for them to repent because the kingdom is near is only going to make them think of me as a weirdo and destroy all my credibility. The real reason I don't want to lose credibility with anyone here in my home is that I would like to see everybody from here make it to the next life, I would love it if we could all spend eternity in God's kingdom. It would be like my greatest wish. It's actually what I wish for when I see a shooting star, no fooling. Truth be told, I am lost right now. I long to be closer to God, but everytime I sin, I feel dirty and ashamed to pray. I have several addictions and I know God sees all. It's like I feel like I am undeserving at times. I know everybody here in my hometown and most of us here are kind, and generous and help each other out, in spite of our many faults. All good christian qualities. I just wish I knew of a good way to lead my people back to God. I know for a fact that preaching to them will only make them disrespect me. I am at a loss. I pray that God shows me the way and that I am strong enough to follow through.
  • Solomon on Matthew 5:9 - 12 years ago
Peace-makers are the children of God in this sense too. For even as Jesus said nothing do i of myself, but that which i've seen the Father do, so is it with those that allow God to work his peace through them.
  • Bane on Matthew 5:36 - 12 years ago
    Mt 5:36
"...,because you can not make one hair white or black"

    This is my testimony.
Without reason God put me on terrible suffer for about seven days. I was completely devastate. Even I spent all my money on some stupid medications that did no help. Then without a visible reason the pain disappeared and some money I even forgot came. All this is happening in seven or eight days.
For all that time the only thing I could do is to pray from the deepest point of my heart and soul and mind.
The point of all this is that when I see a comment that GOD is good I feel a little resistance.
The GOD OUR LORD is almighty, that is my attitude. GOD can be good, GOD is certainly righteous, but from an angle of a single person GOD can be terrible.
Concerning GOD all we can do is to pray and Jesus Christ our savior and leader told us how.
I SEEK FOR YOUR KINGDOM AND YOUR JUSTICE, AND ELSE SHALL BE ADDED
  • Kevin c on Matthew 5 - 12 years ago
This chapter is moving on all parts of it and I especially like the part loving loving your enemy.
We live in a cynical world that lives contrary to this teachin(even our so called Christians.
We should really pay attention to this.....because it's really fundumental to what living like a Christian means. I mean ask yourself.
Do I really try to lvoe those who hate me? What kind of impact would this have on the world if collectively we did this? I think even is we did this for one day alone....it would have a marked impact on society.......Any ideas?
  • Shirley on Matthew 5 - 13 years ago
this chapter of Matthew is very powerful because it does not only gives us the character of a true christian but gives us the rules in the kingdom of God. I call this chapter as guidline to success life not only on this earth but also in heaven. The bible tells us that in heaven there is no sickness, no crying, no sorrow and so if we from the heart apply what Matthew 5 says then we will have righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost and nothing should or will bother us. Matthew 5 is the track for all believers to walk on if they want to experience lif in God that is eternal forever.
  • Pam on Matthew 5 - 13 years ago
What is Matthew 5:5 saying about the meek do they stay here on earth after the father rids the earth of all the evil. Are there 2 classes of people 144,000 that go to heaven the others stay here on earth.

Katia's post from 12/24/2010 makes the mark. Blessed are those who know they are as God tells us, poor in our spiritual foundation, yet contrite of heart in understanding our need in the Creator God for all our needs.
  • Memory njini on Matthew 5:7 - 13 years ago
mercy should be shown to every human kind and my heart arches whenever i see what war does to humankind its just not in our authority to stop it but only ask the Lord to intervene and show mercy
  • *JUDAH PRINCESS* on Matthew 5 - 13 years ago
I Love Love Matthew 5:48. WHY? Because the world says no one can be perfect. but what does the WORD of GOD say? Matthew 5:48 is a COMMANDMENT. I WILL REACH PERFECTION!

    I just twitted Matthew 5:48
  • Jeremiah on Matthew 5 - 13 years ago
People have come to the conclusion that God will accept anything. But this chapter, along with so many others remindes us that there are conditions to the blessings. Most of todays religeous society embraces grace with recklessness. Christ tells us that grace requires more than the original law. The law is fulfilled in the life of Christ, and if we are decieved into thinking that we are responsible for nothing, we will be held accountable for our slothfulness!
  • Betty Hunt on Matthew 5:13 - 13 years ago
I love it when the Lord reminds us that we need to be about our father's business. That if we are not then what good are we. We need to be able to season someone with the words of the Lord. We need to mind the way we live, let it be HOLY before the Lord and Man.
  • Agoh andrew on Matthew 5:16 - 13 years ago
This bible portion is wake up call to all who profess to be followers of CHRIST. That we may conduct ourselves properly in every area of our lives. In dressing, modest; in speech, edifying; etc. It is by so doing that men would desire to be part of this only way to the Living GOD. FAITH WITHOUT WORK, IT IS WRITTEN, IS DEAD. We must defend our faith by our daily conduct and thus bring glory to God. It is written,He that winneth a soul is wise. soul winning is only possible via our wise disposition.
  • Ashley coles tiffany on Matthew 5:9 - 13 years ago
