    Rosanne,

Jesus allowed divorce based upon fornication, which gives the injured party the right to re-marry again.
  • CHRISTIAN DIVORCE - In Reply on Matthew 5:32 - 4 years ago
I always ask that a person see their Pastor for some counseling if it's available now (with some churches closed). Divorce is a hard issue for Christians. I do know it's really hard on the children. Culture doesn't always consider what's best for them in this situation.

Do not tell them who the guilty party is!! Let them love each parent without having to blame one or the other.

There are reasons why God gave man/woman these rules for marriage and divorce. He's on yours and the kids side.

    Deuteronomy 34:1-4, is the Law;

1 Corinthians 7, is in the period of grace.

Read both when you are calm. Pray much.

    Deuteronomy 34:1-4 (tap the link)

When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house.

And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man's wife.

    And if the latter husband hate her, and write her a bill of divorcement, and giveth it in her hand, and sendeth her out of his house; or if the latter husband die, which took her to be his wife;

Her former husband, which sent her away, may NOT take her again to be his wife, after that she is defiled; for that is abomination before the LORD: and thou shalt not cause the land to sin, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.

    ***

You see the seriousness? The children are not to know of "adult issues". No sleepovers, no romantic displays in front of them. It messes with their emotions seriously, and they will have lifelong trust issues.

If you can divorce because of adultery can the one who did not commit adultery get married again?

Every once in a while, scroll down and read some history replies in the 1-100 links.

I think it's important to be refreshed and re-oiled by the Holy Spirit. Let's not let ourselves be drawn into the vortex of what we see on a daily basis. Somewhere, maybe David? Says to encourage ourselves.

God may be calling you to intercede: as Jesus is doing right now, at the right hand of God. He's making intercession for all saints. He's praying for you. Your burden for saints slipping towards apostasy is what I mean. Don't let them slip away. You will be rewarded for doing so; rewarded now. Your spirit and your faith will grow huge.

I tell people we're supposed to have our lamps topped off with the Oil of the Holy Spirit at all times. Be looking every day for Jesus's shout. Get on the wedding supper apparel....but also put your armor on underneath it. Be praying for all saints. Pray to the Lord of the Harvest to send workers out into it.

I googled street evangelism and was surprised to see the ministers teaching it online. We could take church out into our neighborhoods. It doesn't have to be in crowded areas. A lot of people are thinking more about God now. Wondering if God is bringing all this misery upon us? Jesus is the ARK of God; and Im sure God just wants us to get us and others in that Ark.

No one would witness to me when I was unsaved. No one invited me to go to church with them. They didn't say Jesus is trying to get your attention, but your deaf as a rock. Why did He peel back the veil and let me see what I did? Jesus just came into my miserable half-dead existence and gave me a whole brand new life in Him. Every day with Him is filled with wonder and high expectation of even greater things. See..I think that is what Heaven is going to be. Awake Sleeper: come into the Light of His Love.

Grab onto the Holy Spirit! He's moving fast. Ask Him to anoint you anew. Lift you in the spirit of your mind and refill your first love joy.

I believe this.... after 40 years "on the job".

    I belonged to Charismatic-type churches until 2002...

    AND THEN I WOKE UP.

    There is NO revival....scratch that.

What is coming is the martyrdom of the Christians...look around you.

The Synagogue of Satan is closing in now >>> Revelation 3.

Satan is a master of cunning, and has fooled the Happy-clapping emotion-driven congregants.

As I found out, FEW of them even read a Bible...no...they are more into "Christian" book-stores and the latest trend, etc.

Since March 2020, the Western economy has started collapsing.... STEP 1 in progress.

What will come is massive unemployment.... add that to Step 1.

And what is forming is CHAOS.... which will lead to evermore tyrannical lock-down laws.

( we used to call it Martial Law. )

TV, newspapers are all owned by the Synagogue of Satan Jews.... see mileswmathis and add a dot com.

    GO READ IT.

And by the way, these Jews are NOT LIKE NORMAL JEWS.

They are the 0.01 % who own it all.

So, we have a constant propaganda whirlpool of noise

And here we are in July 2020, and they are messing with everyone's heads.

And IT WILL WORK because most people are dumbed-down since the 60s.

    Jesus Christ and martyrdom.

So , get ready....DO NOT FEAR.

John 14 verses 1 to 6 sustain me.

All the best on your side.

    Cheers.

    I hear you, Ruth.

Now, if you want to know how stuff really works in this world....your CHOICE, of course...

then go read a guy called mileswmathis.......and add a dot com.

And you will see, how the elite families, via the CIA, have infiltrated ALL churches.

    ALL.....get it ?

Of course, you can just ignore this info and move on.

    I prefer to be informed.

....the Churches of today are all just hollow.

    FAKE.

is not going to church one on the Lord's day one of the 10 commandments? and doesn't the bible say Christians should pray together, fellowship and encourage each other? plus children need to see people going to church. we are their role models. if we do not support the churches there will be none. he wants us to go to church.

  • FAMINE OF HEARING the WORD OF GOD - In Reply on Matthew 5 - 4 years ago
I know what you have encountered. When I walk into a Church, if no one greets me and welcomes me to the service; it's a sign that the wonderful heart of Jesus is barely beating there.

You have to wonder how people's livesare impacted by sermons on psychology or marriage counseling?

It's true that the last days Churches will be starved for hearing the Word of God.

Why is it that people don't feel brave enough to let the Pastoral staff know that they would really love to hear more Bible explanation of Scripture? It's a wonderful feeling to leave Church and be filled full of Gods Word and the time spent in the presence of the Holy Spirit giving the Light of Jesus on his Word. It fills you up. Makes you want to tell someone else what you learned that day.

I truly believe that if the true believers, would turn off the media, get on the floor beside the bed and pray their broken hearts out to God for a revival; God will respond to his beloveds tears.

There really is a famine for the hearing Of Gods Word. Now the Government is trying not only to prevent Church services; but also Mandate that no SINGING is allowed in Church because we might blow corona virus onto the people near us! How dare they do this? It is NOT our President who is doing that. It is the Godless House of Representatives that brazenly uses our President to further their campaigns to remove God from this country.

I mean, one old lady atheist was able to get prayer, Ten Commandments and the Pledge of Allegiance to our National Flag thrown out of schooL. Our children know nothing about Jesus and His Love for them. And NOW, a famine for hearing anything about God. WOE to the United States! Once full of Justice, Mercy and belief that all people were created Equal..has almost been dissolved by Satan possessed people.

YES people, Jesus is returning soon! He's coming whether we believe in Him or not.

Your time is short to get your business straight with God. Get to it. Mishael
  • CHARLES JORDAN - In Reply on Matthew 5 - 4 years ago
Remember the simplicity and let it free you.

Salvation comes by the grace of God through faith in Christ Jesus.

Grace ?....a gift from God, undeserved.

Faith ?....read the Bible....and your faith grows

Christ Jesus.... who said I am the Way, the Truth, the Life and no-one comes to the Father except through me.

Forget about Churches they're ALL fakes and infiltrated....ALL.

I walk alone, with Jesus Christ.

I have been with Him for 40 years.

Talk to Him ( pray) and read the Bible EVERY DAY...and you're way ahead already.

    Amen.

So, Jesus' Sacrifice was a one-time occurrence & can NEVER be on-going. "But this man (Jesus), after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God" ( Heb 10:12). Therefore, it would be very wrong to think of Jesus' Sacrifice as a continual work & to believe that the emblems at the Lord's Table actually become His Body & Blood. It was always meant to be symbols of His Person & Work & by partaking of it, we are reminded in a vivid way what Jesus went through on the Cross for our sakes.
  • Chris - In Reply on Matthew 5 - 4 years ago
    Page 2.

So, when Jesus & His disciples ate this meal, it was just food, but it was special as it focussed on Jesus' death for us. In other words, they did it then & they did it after Jesus died & rose again, to remember Him. And that is what we observe in the Church today. Even though our 'Lord's Supper' is a very condensed version of a meal of remembrance, its fragments of unleavened bread & wine, symbolizes Christ's death (broken body & shed blood) for us. It is only a symbol & a memorial to what happened to Jesus at the Cross - it was never intended to mystically turn itself into the actual body & blood of the Lord (transubstantiation). If that were the case, then every time "the emblems change, the Lord is eaten" showing that He is being offered up to the Father for our sins. Their Catechism (#1365) states: "because it is the memorial of Christ's Passover, the Eucharist is also a sacrifice: that is why we say that the Eucharist is the very same sacrifice as the sacrifice Jesus' presented on the cross. However, each and every Mass is not a "new" sacrifice of Christ; it is instead the on-going sacrifice of the one perfect sacrifice that was offered by Jesus almost 2,000 years ago, the sacrifice of Christ on the cross and the sacrifice of the Eucharist are one single sacrifice". Note that: it is an ON-GOING SACRIFICE of the one Sacrifice. But the Bible tells us in Heb 9:27: "Who (Jesus) needeth not DAILY, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did ONCE, when he offered up himself."

Ruth, as Mishael has stated, you need to spend much time in God's Word allowing the Spirit to teach you & convince you about its Truths. A good Bible-believing Church is also very important so that you are fed the meat of the Word, which only can satisfy. You may have in the past switched over to attending the RC Church because of your friends; even in this matter one needs a solid stand, as compromise, even for friends' sake, means that you are dabbling with unbiblical matters.

To provide an adequate & meaningful defence to your RC friends about the Eucharist will be difficult as RCs are brought up rigidly in their faith, living with the fear that any departure from it or questioning its beliefs will mean rejection by God. So, if a religion preaches that the way of salvation & the way to God can only be through the Church, you know immediately there is grave error. So, for RCs, their salvation & their Christianity exists purely because of their connection to the Church; so attending Mass, Confession, partaking of the Eucharist, worship/prayer to Mary, self-effort to assist payment for sins, purgatory, etc. are all teachings foreign to the Bible & taught by RCs so as to keep a tight hold on them.

Luke 22:14-20 shows us what happened in the Upper Room at Passover time. In remembrance of Jesus' forthcoming death, He ate this Last Supper with them. As in the Jewish Passover, a meal was eaten in remembrance of when the LORD 'passed over' the children of Israel when He saw the Lamb's blood smeared on their doorposts but those that didn't have it there (i.e. the Egyptians) had all their firstborn killed ( Exodus 12). So Jesus & His disciples remembered that time of Israel's escape from God's Wrath & Egypt's bondage but also looked forward to the sacrificing of the Passover Lamb (i.e. Jesus on the Cross), when the blood shed would be applied to our hearts assuring us of God forgiving our sins & our acceptance by Him, thereby not condemning us to death & Hell.

Thank you. I did not realize the future tense. This helps me a great deal to explain to my friends. I will read that again in my Bible.

    I really appreciate this website.

  • Jesse - In Reply on Matthew 5 - 4 years ago
    Ruth,

They say they have the Eucharist, but what they have is a false Christ. What I mean by that is they hold to the doctrine of Transubstantiation, meaning that the priest has the power to change a wafer into the literal body of Jesus Christ, and change the wine into the literal blood of Christ. That is not biblical.

They make the claim based on John Chapter 6, where Jesus told His disciples to take this bread and eat it, for it is my body which will be shed for you. Take this cup and drink it, for it is my blood which will be given up for you. At the end, the priest says "Do this in memory of me." You probably already know this since you attended Catholic Church.

The problem with this is that when Jesus said take this all of you and eat it, for this is my body, and take this and drink it, for this is my blood, He ate and drank with them. Jesus said this is my body, and this is my blood which will be given up for you (Future Tense). Jesus was speaking about His coming death on the cross and that after that happened, we were to celebrate communion as a memorial of His death and resurrection.

To say that Jesus Christ is literally present in the Eucharist, both flesh and blood, is false and should be rejected by those who know that Christ already dwells in His fullness inside them. To believe that the wafer is literally Christ's body, and after they eat it, where does it end up? It ends up in the commode and then they have to back again for more Jesus. We have the creator of the entire universe living within us, and He is always there. You've done well to leave. I would not go back!
  • Mishael - In Reply on Matthew 5 - 4 years ago
Being born again is the key issue here.

Jesus did not call us to perform religious ceremonies. He said My yoke is easy and my burden is light.

Baptist church life is more than sitting in a pew. I grew up southern Baptist and knew nothing about the Godhead: Father, Son, Holy Spirit. They preached hell and that I had to be Baptised. Which I did, and 5 yrs

later I was serving the devil.

Find one that teaches THE BIBLE. You can research online what each church's Tenets of Faith are. Google that if you don't know what that is. If you do not read your Bible every day you will NEVER know if you are being taught the truth at Church!

Seek TRUTH. Jesus says: I AM the WAY, the TRUTH, and THE LIFE. No one comes to the Father, except BY ME.

The Father is Spirit! He is not fleshly; human. Find in the King James Bible where God is a human man.

I was raised Baptist but have been going to the Catholic Church but am switching back to Baptist because in attending probation for Legion of Mary I see that I can not pray to Mary. One of the stands that my Catholic friends make is that THEY HAVE THE EUCHARIST. How can I defend myself with the bible against that claim?

    Jim,

Yes, Jesus is deserving of praise. You do well to praise Him and realize that He is all you need. I agree that He died for all. There are many places in scripture that show that Christ shed His blood for all and that salvation is offered to all who will receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. You quoted Part of John 3:16, but here are a few other verses that agree with what you are saying: 1 Timothy 4:10, 1 John 4:14, 1 John 2:2, John 1:29, John 4:42, Hebrews 10:10, Romans 6:10, Hebrews 9:26, Hebrews 9:12.

So you are correct in saying that Jesus suffered and died for all, but unfortunately not all will receive Him. From what you are saying, I can assume that you've received Christ. Continue to praise Him and always keep Him first in your heart and life. God bless!
  • Mishael on WAS MARY SINFUL - In Reply on Matthew 5 - 4 years ago
When Jesus began his Ministry he called himself, THE SON OF MAN.

His blood HAD to be pure from all sin. Mary was overshadowed by the Holy Spirit (who is Spirit and invisible).

Jesus's blood was NOT connected to Mary's blood supply. The spark of life began to grow, by the power of God.

Even tho Mary was married to Joseph, they did not have marital relations till after Jesus's birth. That's scripture.

You can Google ancestry charts on Mary and Joseph; which is very interesting! Both were descended from King David. Jesus had "half" brothers and sisters. No connection by blood or "DNA".

In order to be The Lamb of God, he had to be pure from sin running through bloodlines; he had to live daily without committing any sin, for 33 years.

The Son of Man hung on the Cross as the perfect, sinless; without spot or wrinkle; Lamb of God. After he died, the HUGE Room-sized veil in the Temple was torn from top to bottom. Not bottom to top.

That was Him saying the Old Covenant was replaced by the New Covenant.

Who is this Son of Man who gave himself fully for mankind? He never sinned.

We can trust Him with our souls. He wants to be our Lord. Through Him, anybody can be saved; born again. John chapter 3.

Jim, if Jesus died for ALL then why did he speak in parables to hide the gospel from some?

Matthew Chapter 13:10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?

11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is NOT GIVEN not given.

12 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.

Malachi 1:3 And I hated Esau, and laid his mountains and his heritage waste for the dragons of the wilderness.

God hated Esau (Yes I know they want to CONvince us this means love less)

Obadiah 1:18 And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall kindle in them, and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau; for the LORD hath spoken it.

Malachi 1:4 Whereas Edom saith, We are impoverished, but we will return and build the desolate places; thus saith the LORD of hosts, They shall build, but I will throw down; and they shall call them, The border of wickedness, and, The people against whom the LORD hath indignation for ever. indignation is extreme hatred.

...The people against whom the LORD hath indignation for ever.... how long is for ever?

The Lord does not love Esau / Edom and King Herod was of this lineage per Jewish historian Josephus.

If you do not know the sin of Esau I suggest you look into his marriage into the Hittite canaanite lineage.

Why do the Catholics say that Mary is without sin? Why do they use her as an intercessor to Christ? It does not tell us to do that in the Bible anywhere!
  • Mishael on Original Sin - In Reply on Matthew 5 - 4 years ago
Her genealogy was chosen for Jesus to come into the earth. She was a Virgin.

Read all the Gospels; particularly the Book of Luke, about Mary's participation. She was a chosen vessel.

Everybody on earth is born into sin. That is why we need a Savior who can wipe that sin as far as the East is from the west. God is Holy and cannot look on sin! That's why the Savior was born.
  • Bob Hilt - In Reply on Matthew 5 - 4 years ago
Greetings Ruth, The Bible does not mention Mary was without sin. I believe this is exactly why the virgin birth was so important.

I believe Jesus had the same mother and Father as the first Adam.

1 Corinthians 15:45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. Jesus is called the last Adam.

Christ is likened to the folowing

    Hebrews Chapter 7

    1 For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;

    2 To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace;

3 Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.

    no earthly mother or Father
