Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. ( 1 Corinthians 6:18)

John chapter 8 seems like it would be worth reading about this situation as well as some of the other comments I have seen....And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more. John 8:11

This is what Scripture states on this issue.

Hebrews 13:4 King James Version (KJV)
4 Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whore-mongers and adulterers God will judge. If you love her, marry her and serve God.

There is no biblical advice I can give you. Exodus 20:14 Thou shalt not commit adultery. Even if she is the only one. She is not your wife.

    1 Corinthians Chapter 7
7 For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that.
8 I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I. unmarried
9 But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.
Seems Paul is saying if you can not control yourself get married and then there is no more sin.

If you are acting as married before actually being married (sex/living together) you are in sin. I myself have committed the same exact sin, while going a step further and have multiple kids. I did not understand my offense until after we got married. We live separate for 3 months prior to marriage. The hardest 3 months of my life. Once we did get married i understood it was a union of 3 not 2. Married before God is marriage to God. You can not get light from darkness. Sin will never produce righteous fruit. He does not respect people nor does he compromise for your comfort. If you know something to be sinful you are obligated to repent, which in its full meaning is to stop that behavior.

  • Seeking Gods Truth on Matthew 5 - 4 years ago
Very True Seeking Revenge and Holding onto Bitterness and Resentment destroys all the Goodness in us. God does not agree with evil and deception and we dont accept what He calls evil as good or let it continue including allowing people to teach their own Carnal and Worldly interpretation of Scripture which leads to others being Deceived Confused and Hurt. We Share God's Truth with them showing they are in error and so giving True Hope and Peace to others. Jesus said in Matthew12:30 He that is not with Me is against Me and he that gathereth not with Me Scattereth Abroad This is also confirmed in Ephesians 5:8-17 which will be shown in our Words and Actions Rom8:1 Lets Shine in the Darkness.

Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven but he that DOETH the will of my Father which is in heaven. Luke 6:46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
  • D W L - In Reply on Matthew 5 - 4 years ago
And that means every word that proceedes out of the mouth of God. We are not to deny Jesus the word he is the word. Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by EVERY word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Obedience to God's Word is the Christian's test the tests can be hard at times, but if we trust obey through faith God will keep, strengthen bless us. The Bible is very clear on the subject, as we see, with no contradiction. The Jews in Christ's day had greatly abused disobeyed the Lord's instruction on marriage but of course that didn't make them right. He knows what is best for us!

blasphemy against the Holy Ghost is the only unforgiven sin.
  • Stanjett on Matthew 5 - 5 years ago
Raca: "Vain, empty, worthless, only found in Matt. 5:22. The Jews used" "it as a word of contempt. It is derived from a root meaning "to" "spit."

Marriage and divorce , concubines, harlots, prostitution, marrying a brothers wife, sin and the effects of not obeying Gods word. Paul talks about being single, and virginity. All these things are in scripture for our learning! Freedom we receive through faith to judge all these matters. James4 17. King David, who is the lineage of Christ, we learn much , God forgave HIM. unlimited forgiveness!
  • I AM THAT I AM: on Matthew 5 - 5 years ago
Be reconciled to thy brother: Agree with thine adversary quickly while thou art in the way with him: lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison. Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing. Whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.

God has called us to PERFECTION. Anything less is missing the high mark the Lord has set for the saints. Be ye perfect as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. God gives the command, and Jesus furnishes the power when we obey Him. This is penetrating and spiritually powerful. God only wants the best for us. Perfection is being pure in heart. God is awesome and mighty. Follow Jesus.

Not so, Al. Better reread the scripture and Matt. 19 for better understanding. Only fornication, like Jesus says. He's the authority.
  • Al - In Reply on Matthew 5 - 5 years ago
Divorce is not the unforgivable sin. If someone admits any fault that they have had in the divorce asks God for forgiveness, with a pure heart, they will be forgiven. If the sin of divorce is forgiven they can marry again.

Verse 29 If there is anything or anyone in our life that makes us stumble from being obedient to Jehovah God it would be best to get that negative influence out of our lives.
  • Melki - In Reply on Matthew 5 - 5 years ago
To answer your question, I will first have to inform you that the laws of Yahuwah are still binding. According to the law, the man a woman loses her virginity is her husband until he dies. So if a woman divorces her husband and lies with another man she and the man she lies with committed adultery because the man who took her virginity is still alive.

Bob 0n Matthew 5, read Romans 7:2-3 A woman is free from that law, if her husband has passed away. But if he is still living, it would be a sin.
  • Bob on Matthew 5 - 5 years ago
What do you think Matthew 5:32 means when it says anyone who marries a divorced woman commits adultery? Isn't adultery the same sin as having an affair with someone married? So what if a lonely man in his 40s has never been married and falls in love with the only single woman in his church was divorced 20 years ago- if he marries her is that sinful and considered as evil as an affair?
