The devil has possed me off and 0n (if that's possible since the sixties.I love when Jesus chases the demons away.I have been clearhead for several weeks.I pray to God my faith is strong enough that I will not stray from His arms. Thank you God, for Jesus Christ.
"let the dead bury their dead" means - Let those who are spiritually dead - not spiritually awake - go on with their lives. They are walking, seeing, talking, etc but they are not spiritually alive - they are just like automatons - robots . "I come to give you life" - But are they anot already alive? - no. they are spiritually - dead.
I've learned how to have deep faith and also not to be fearful. When that man said he wanted to go and bury his father, Jesus asked him to follow him, definitely we should learn how to take God 1st and follow Jesus in anything we do in life.
matthew 8and 8 is and was an eye opening for me. It made me check myself reguarding my faith. When i checked myself i found that my faith wasn't where i needed it to be. In other words i was talking a good game, my bark was bigger than my bite. However, thanks be to god, for allowing me to see myself and for teaching me how to trust him and how to walk by faith and not by sight.
I believe that is whats going on today with all the killing of children and children killing parents everybody needs Jesus I am just coming back to church myself and i know i cannot make it without Jesus in my life so Iam going to keep on seeking Jesus until I find my purpose.
Verse16) "All the spirits fled when he commanded them to leave ..." Satan and his demons exist like mental thoughts. The only way you can identify one is by its purpose and intent. Usually a person under this attack can't tell his thoughts from the thoughts of the demon. But sometimes they can. In any case, their tone of voice often changes, and their thoughts, actions , and words become agitated and hostile. And the intent and purpose of the spirit become manifested. But in a religious setting, this can take on a misguided religious affect, with slanderous, emotional displays.
This means that the spirit world is not in another time, space deminsion as many believe. Otherwise we we would have no contact with them. And they couldn't possess people. Their deminsion is their spirit state, pure bodiless mind power or intellect without shape or form. And it is right here, and we can witness its effects.
One of the purposes of a demon is to pervert Jesus' human creation. Another purpose is to feel the effects of living in a body, something they do not have. This way they can commit murder, lie, steal, etc., and blame it on the human victom. They do this by inhabiting humans. We call this possession.
They flee at the word of Jesus because they know he is God and has ultimate power. This is what we see taking place in verse 16.
Neil, I was confused too, but Wesley's notes help. From my understanding, Jesus was saying that it is ok to follow Him, but do not follow Jesus if you are seeking earthly things. In a way you are correct, Jesus did not claim a home on the earth, and he wanted any potential followers to know that it wouldn't be a road trip with stays at five star hotels, so to speak. Jesus wanted everyone to know that following Him would not benefit them in an earthly way.
When you discover the authority and power that Jesus christ has i.e the commander in chief of the heavenly government and the earths,then you do not need to go to anyone for your deliverence,you only need to send your faith like the centurion man.ie them that know their God shall do exploits in the mighty name of Jesus.
Men have their homes in their thoughts, beliefs, and opinions. Men pretend to know, and pretend they don’t pretend.. But The Sons of God have surrendered their home for the One which is everything and is everywhere, is the source of all, the end of all, the true Home.
@Insight777,
Are you stating that the son of God mean evil? "That is what is meant when “the son of man (the opposite of the son of God = the evil one) has no place to lay his head." Are your parenthesis in the wrong spot? Matthew 25 Christ is called the son of man. Luke 1:35 refers to Mary being visited by the spirit and her son being the Son of God.
I still don't know what this means, break it down in a simple term. Does this mean Jesus doesn't have a place to live, so he must keep on the road preaching the gospel? He has his place to rest in heaven, right?
Jesus praises the centurion that loves and respects him and is willing to become a follower and Christian. In verse 18, Jews and Romans were gathering their sick and afflicted in a large group and asking Jesus to heal them without first wanting to believe in Jesus as the Son of God and convert to Christianity. They wanted Jesus to use his power to heal yet they did not want first to stop worshiping their own gods. That is what is meant when “the son of man (the opposite of the son of God = the evil one) has no place to lay his head. They cannot rest in the peaceful healing protection of God because they reject Jesus as the son of God. The thoughts in their head were to use Jesus as a healer of bodily ailments while rejecting his ability to heal their spiritual life. Jesus did not want to heal people that refused to stop worshipping false gods and refused to stop believing in false doctrine so he wanted to leave the area. Son of God affirms the divinity of Jesus and Jesus died on the cross because he refused to be called the son of man.
The gift of healing was given as a sign to the Jews directly ( I Corinthians 1:22), but that was not the main purpose for Jesus’ ministry and probably not to interested in having those have been healed by Jesus to go out and spread the word to the multitude. The main ministry at this time in history for Jesus is to preach to the Jews that kingdom of heaven is at hand ( Matthew 4:17).
I do not know if there is motivation behind Judy’s comment about verse 15, but the word minister does not necessarily imply speaking. To minister is to serve to the needs of a person or persons. A person with a fever usually can still speak. Angels are ministering spirits. We are only allowed to minister to others according to God’s holy word and guidance from God through his spirit.
@Bane,
Concerning your question about why Jesus keeps stating to tell no man after he has been healed, until it is finished on the cross. The Jews are still under law and must still obey what Moses wrote in Leviticus 14 for this situation and the priest were leading the way in the rejection of Jesus as their Messiah because they did not want to lose their prestige and authority.
In Verse 2, the leper man showed trust in God knowing that Jesus can do all things if he wishes, and it’s not by force though. I think that feeling pleased my father in heaven.
It's not what do I think, it's what does it say.
The Scripture clearly tell us we need ot get our priorities straight. Much like WWJD what would Jesus do, it's should be WDJD what did Jesus DO. We need to read and pray and do the things the bible commands us to do.
Because we are made sons only by the LORD Jesus Christ's mercy,I believe those who refuse to work and grow in the word of GOD will be cast into obscurity.(outer darkness)Their glory will be as the stars.see Romans 1:20
Question: After Sermon On The Mount,in Matthew chapter 8, Jesus followed by the great multitudes made a man clean from leper. What confuses me is why he strictly told him to tell no man about healing. This is a situation that appears often in the Gospels. P.S. MIKE when you find time answer me this, please. GOD BLESS US ALL

I agree with your comment, because we need to understand when we read. God speaks to us to change what is in us, not what we see others do .
