The remainder of this chapter is about the resting and moving on of the Israelites in the wilderness. First of all, when the tabernacle was raised, YHWH's Presence rested upon it. He delt among them as He promised Moses when Moses interceded for the people when they were stubborn and stiff-necked. The rest of the chapter repeatedly tells of how the people would remain and rest when the Presence of God rested upon the tabernacle, and then when the Presence lifted, they knew that they would be moving on. They would then prepare for continue their journey to the promised land. The Lord would lead them in the pillar of fire by night and cloud by day. The people went whatever way the pillar went.
God's presence was their guide and authority and things went well for them as they obeyed YHWH. They did not veer to the right of left, nor turn around to go back, nor ran ahead to go on their own. They obeyed YHWH in following His lead and they came closer and closer to the promised land.
It is the same with us, God is our leader, our guide and authority. He is with us and indwells us (unlike the Israelites) and will never forsake us or leave us. He is faithful even when we are unfaithful ( 2 Tim. 2:13). We are to follow EVERYTHING, but we often fail and go out on our own or in a direction He has not led us. thankfully we can repent and confess. He will strengthen us.
God will lead us in ways to bless us because we need to be blessed. He will lead us in ways that try us because our faith needs to be tested and matured. He will lead us in times and places of rest, because we need to slow down and rest in Him. He will press us firmly to go in a way He has determined for us because we need to accomplish something for someone else or grow in obedience, just as Jesus was tempted and tested , enduring trials and painful suffering leading to death because we were in need of redemption. He did it for us. He is our Sovereign without equal.
It had been a year since the Israelites came to Mt. Sinai. Now it was time to celebrate the Passover in the way that YHWH showed Moses. This feast was spoken of in Exodus 12 when they had come from fleeing Egypt to what would be the first month of their year. The Passover is the first feast of their year. It is celebrated on the 14th day of Nissan (either in March or April). The Israelites had celebrated it in Egypt when the last plague, the death of the firstborn was come upon Egypt. The Israelites did all that God had instructed them to do and were spared from this plague due to their obedience of putting the blood of the sacrificed lamb around their doorframe. Then when they were away from Egypt and the early spring month began they celebrated their second Passover according to how Moses instructed them.
Now they were about to leave from Mt. Sinai and it was once again the month of Nissan and the beginning of their second full year in the wilderness. They prepared to celebrate the Passover again. There were two men who had become unclean by having contact with a dead person. They, wisely, went to Moses concerning their fitness to participate in the Passover with their family and the whole camp. Normally, they would not be able to participate in worship until they had satisfied the the conditions for re-entry into the congregation. But this time, Moses consulted God on their behalf, since this was a new situation. YHWH told Moses that the men did not have to be ceremonial clean to celebrate the Passover, but were to do so with their family and community.
When Jesus was sacrificed as our Passover Lamb, his disciples, nor any of us needed to get "cleaned up" in order for Him to sacrifice for us. While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. We were crucified with Him, even though we were unclean.
We all participated in this Passover with Jesus. He was our sacrifice and our sins were "passed over" in Him. How wonderful.
The Passover and how it was to be done you will find in Exodus 12:3-11, read all of Exodus 12. The Passover day is on the 14th of Nisan the day Jesus was crucified; this day is also a preparation day for the 15th the first day of 7 days of the Feast of Unleavened Bread. Jewish people on Passover, gather together for a ceremonial meal called a seder and telling of the story of the Exodus from Egypt.
Some Christians celebrate passion week and Easter Sunday, the day Jesus resurrected, and some just Easter Sunday. It is easy to get lost in traditions, there comfortable and many have reunions on these holidays.
You say you are concerned; Passover is one of the feasts that Israelites were required to return to Jerusalem. Many combine the Passover and the Unleavened Bread feast into 8 days and call it the feast of Passover or the Feast of Unleavened bread, they did that in the time of Jesus, Matthew 26:17Luke 22:1.
By following traditions we can overlook what Jesus fulfilled, He rode in on the 10th of Nisan, the Passover day on the 14th of Nisan, the day He was crucified, the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world, the Tamid, the first and the last, the feast of Unleavened Bread with His perfect life, the feast of First Fruits, the day He was resurrected, He ascended the same time as the priest waved the Omer, John 20:17 He is the First Fruits of those who slept, 1 Corinthians 15:20, that we now call Easter.
1Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
My understanding is Passover is a sacrifice that Jesus fulfilled; and no other blood sacrifice is needed, if done in faith, how you remember or honor it is up to you.
1 Corinthians 5:7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:
Yes born and raised Catholic we were told what the Passover was about which I mention in my earlier statement. But you are right the Catholic through time made it more about the way of the cross.
But we did start it on Friday and it ends on Sunday.
As I started reading and studying the bible I realized that men changed the reason for Passover.
If I did not explain it to that tune I truly am sorry.
Thanks for your input. Have a Bless weekend my friend.
From my understanding and experience Catholics and some Protestants celebrate what they call Holy Week which includes: Palm Sunday (Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem - Luke 19:28-40), the Last Supper on Thursday ( Luke 22:7-38); Jesus' agony in the garden, betrayal, trial, scourging, and crucifixion ( Luke 22:39-23:1-49), his burial and entombment,, ( Luke 23:50-55), and His Resurrection from the dead ( Luke 24:1-12; Matt. 28; Mk. 16; Jn 20-21), but not the Passover in the sense that the jews celebrate it. This week of celebration is pointedly centered on Jesus our Savior, which the Jews do not celebrate because they reject Jesus as the Messiah. The Passover is a memorial of the passing over of the Israelites in Egypt by the angel of death and the hasty meal before they fled from Egypt (In Exodus).
Passover celebrates the time God help the Israelites escape from Egypt.
Passover was the result of the last plague God sent on the people..
God told Moses to tell the people to spread Lamb's blood over the doorways of their houses. Death was sent to kill the first born in the area but death had to PASSOVER the doors with blood on it. Many Egyptians died and that is why Pharaoh let the Israelites leave.
Note Hebrews 10:12 "But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down at the right hand of God." also John 19, Isaiah 53, Luke 23,
Verse 3~The Israelites were commanded to keep the Passover on a specific day. This was from Jehovah God and when they kept this command they were blessed for it.
April; The holiday of Pesach, or Passover, falls on the Hebrew calendar dates of Nissan 15-22. The coinciding secular dates for 2017 are April 10-18. Shabbat or Sabbath is on the seventh day of the week, as it always has been since God created the heavens and the earth. The Roman Emperor Constantine was a worshiper of the Sun god; and so he made Sun-day the day for public "Christian" assembly.
I was wondering if anyone knew of when the passover is for this year,2017. I am trying to figure out if I wanted to participate, when is the right time to do so?Then there is the Sabbath day, which I thought is on the 6th day(Saturday), so am I sinning if I go to chirch on Sunday, because we are to rest on the 7th day?, not that worshiping God is a sin, just should it be on Sat instead of Sunday?
In chapter 9 God gives all the children of Israel the opportunity to participate in the Passover. As long as obedience is there the cloud protection of the Lord kept them safe.

Catholics and other Christians as well as the Jewish religion celebrates PASSOVER.
Do we need to celebrate it for salvation? No. It is to remind us of the power and love of God for All his children.
Yes there are others who do practice Passover.
