This scripture changed my life, as well as 2 other people’s that I love...my quoting it over and over several times during the day and it actually changed my hate I had for some people that wronged me in deals and deeds they had done against me.
This Psalms helps me to understand more about God’s commandment, how it helps us to know the truth. Righteous is our God Jesus. He is my lamp to my feet day and night long. Verse 105.
Timothy Wayne George on Psalms 119:33 - 12 years ago
Psalms 119:33 Teach me Jehovah your statutes, and I will keep it to the end. The Lord teaches us the statutes by the power of the Holy Spirit, and gives us the strength to keep them to the end. We are made disciples of Christ when we hold the beginning of our faith, steadfast until the end.
I have read this chapter many times before and after going through an experience on my job that was hurtful and troubling, I knew that I could find an answer in God’s word, and lo and behold, the answer and comfort is right here: verse 165 "great peace have they that love thy law; and nothing shall offend them."
This Psalm is calling us to holiness, for in verse 133, he says let no iniquity have dominion over me. We have to turn our eyes away from vanity, and hide the Word of God in our heart so that we will not sin against God.
David said in verse 59, I thought on my ways, and turned my feet toward his statues. This is why David was called a man after God's heart. May we be holy, as God is holy, and allow the power of the Holy Spirit to help us to live this life. Everything God commands us to do, he empowers us to do, so let us not make excuses, for all excuses are excused by God.
119 is a prayer which brings joy and peace. As a youth l have read it over and over still to get more revelation. Indeed it is a lamp unto the path. May we be like Him as we feed on His Word.
The real test of Christianity has to be through material things like money (gold), cars etc whether one will be able 2 let go or give 2 God. So if one is able 2 utter those Psalmist words to me its just the epitome of faith that is why l think this verse is the climax of the ch119.
119 is a layered, lamp a path way, the scripture says because of mine affiltion I sought after thee, I have always sought after the lord, in the press, in joy in life in love, raising my children, I have seen 119 roll back its healing word reveling the love of himself Father, speaking back to me as I read, what it take's for me to live and gain his approval, and deliverance, I have seen this through the years I discovered this psalm in my youth, when I felt lost and far from him the holy spirit would guide me to 119 layer by layer
In our covenant with God he expects us to uphold the ministry he entrusts us with and he expects us to work with and support our spiritual leaders.
Tithes and offerings are part of our reasonable service to God.
When we are wronged or robbed we may be tempted to pass our loss on to our ministry or our pastors. So to me this scripture tells me to continue in charity and my committments though injustice may be inflicted on me.
As a last note: Job said "though he slay me , yet will I trust him."
The test of true love for the law of God is evident in our relation with fellow men. When things are done to make us revolt against the law of God, we are reminded by His Spirit of our allegiance to His precept, and once we have a ready mind to obey, these laws guides and keeps us going in Him
To anyone who wants to know what it takes to walk with God and dwell where He is in eternity, the book of Psalms clearly maps out the charter to such blissful life.
This psalm is a light in my life, it helps me to remember my purpose here on earth, and that is to worship and glorify God and keep his commandments. The song says, "On Christ the solid rock I stand...." In these times he is or should be our hope and stay.
This psalm in dark times as we see today, helps me to remain joyful even though you feel the weight of sorrow for man and realized deeply the choice each man must make to choose Jesus and realizing that somw will not. The sadness of this can make you terribly sad also but you have to continually ask for knowledge and understanding so you can keep your joy. In Jesus name amen
Oh, that I would hide His Word in my heart that I would not sin against Him. That I would ever praise and thank Him for the Cross and His shed blood for me. That He might find me watching and waiting at the midnight hour, with my lamp trimmed, full of oil and burning brightly. I pray daily to be counted with those that have not bowed their knee to Baal. Praise Him for His precious blood which cleanses me and washes me white as snow!
