This Psalm (29) reminds us of the great shakings that went on with the prophet Elijah in 1 Kings 19. It is also to Psalm 18 and 114. Verse 3 and verse 10 show God over the waters (as in Creation) and over the flood in Noah's time; directing the earth's cataclysm. The reference to the Cedars of Lebanon are also mentioned in Isaiah 14:8 among other references. They can symbolically refer to the armies or powers over the area; much as is seen in Ezekiel 26 which describes the souls of the pagan nations in Sheol from many nations.
Verse 9 describes the calves; and how God works in the reproduction process. This surely can be seen in the many passages of Job that describe the wonders of nature as to Leviathan; for example.
I love hearing the birds early in the morning. However, I do not like the incessant cawing of the gaggle of crows that roam our neighborhood. they can make quite a clamor. But I guess they are "conferencing" with each other.
I love that the days are warming up. I've been planting flowers these past few days and love to watch them grow and blossom. My friend and I swap flowers as we have been working together on her veggie garden. Will love the fresh produce when it is ready. It has been a real blessing sharing this time with her.
I hope you have a great day. I continue to pray for Daniel.
Give God prayers of thanks for all that He has provided us ,from what we see ,what we eat, what we hear ,everthing! This morning ,initially I was irritated by the little bird that was singing & chirping outside my window that woke me up, then I realized something that this was a gift ,actually quite lovely, I watched this bird singing its little heart out .I looked around & appreciated the flower beds, the bright blue sky & white clouds. It was a good way to start my day to take just a few minutes to stop & appreciate instead of grumbling & grousing, gave praises instead.I am very glad to live in an environment where I feel safe.I thank God for my family, they are such a blessing ! God bless everyone !
Thanks. Yes, no darkness or light before God since with Him everything is manifest day and night. Bless you. Separation is only needed to give mankind a sense of time and the seasons.
Brother Victor, may CHRIST IN US grace us with HIS wisdom and HIS knowledge.
Psalms 139:12 Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.
Revelation 22:5 And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign forever.
God is due glory, and beyond what he is due, we are lead by love of him, to worship his person by our best imitation of his character(his holiness). Strength of faith/trust is all of him, because he loved us first," the author and finisher of our faith." While his voice may capture our attention, rightly so, he is seated and giving peace unlike any other we will ever know. Though hated of the world, he is spectacular in the sight of believers, and that makes us mighty, unto him.
29:9 To calve - Through the terror it causes, which hastens the birth. He names the hinds, because they bring forth their young with difficulty, # Job 39:1|,2. Discovereth - Heb. maketh bare, of its trees, which it breaks or strips of their leaves. Glory - Having shewed the terrible effects of God's power in other places, he now shews the blessed privilege of God's people, that are praising God in his temple, when the rest of the world are trembling under the tokens of his displeasure.
29:10 The flood - The most violent waters, which sometimes fall from the clouds upon the earth. These are fitly mentioned, as being many times the companions of great thunders. And this may be alleged as another reason, why God's people praised him in his temple, because as he sends terrible tempests and thunders, so he also restrains and over - rules them. Sitteth - He doth sit, and will sit as king for ever, sending such tempests when it pleaseth him.
Verse 11 - The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace. Question: Who is the LORDS's people in this chapter or verse? Who is "his people"
I saw in my life and family, how the voice of God thundered over the voice of satan in delivering my husband from death. glory be to the Lord in the highest.
the tree is strong and high above all others , it is speaking of the proud and boastful sinners like look at me I am so great, that they will be brought low by the voice of the Lord verse 6 I am still trying to study, the lightening makes them bound like antelope upon the mountains
when the storm hits we in Christ have no fear, we hear his voice amongst the noise, but those apart from him should take heed, for they do not understand what he is speaking, they worship nature and all other things, but give God no glory, they praise him for nothing
The Psalms use poetic language. Calves jump and play, happy to be alive. Mountains, hills and trees sway with the wind, much like the calves playing. It shows all of God's creation praising Him and lifting the spirit of man with the 'awe' of God's handy work. We should learn to be happy to be alive and look for the good in this life. The poetry of the Bible is the finest available to us.
Honestly i don't understand i am having a problem visualizing vs 5,6 god is saying he makes the cedars of lebonon to skip like. a calf also he says that about mountains in other parts of his word.what is god saying and doing when he makes his mountains and trees spring like calfs , goats honestly i am confused.will someone please comment thank you
The Lord, that s all we need to know. He has the whole world in his hand. Praise be to God for being The Lord of this crazy world. Thank God he can handle this world cause man surely can t do anything without him our creator!
Servant,God has written that his "word" is a two-edged sword, not his voice.Repent involves more than God's existence, but also the sinner's condition before God.God in his mercy withholds immediate judgement of sin.Only God knows who is reprobate. The Holy Spirit is in this world, therefore, full of evil, is extreme. While we see many without fruit of God, we are often blind to God working in them.
The voice of the Lord is a two edged sword for praise and for correction. God will forget the sinner who will not hear instruction and who will not repent. To repent is to reverse direction, to acknowledge that God exists, that he is merciful and severe. What would God want with the reprobate in this world. That one is of no use to anyone. This world is full of mediocrity and outright evil!!!
Such a great voice, and until God himself speaks to a persons heart, quickens them by the Holy Spirit, makes them alive unto him, they remain dead in trespasses and sin, and so never hear him."There is none righteous, no, not one:There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.Rom.3:10
Blessed be the name of Jesus!
The King of Kings and Lord of the Lord!
He is the "Way Maker"!
Blessed the Lord, all my soul, and all that is within me, bless His Holy, Holy Name!
For He has done great things,
Bless His Holy, Holy Name!!!
I remember when I was baptized with the Holy Spirit, and how much I have grown in faith, strength and understanding, and I know that God is always with us!!
