The Book of Psalm is truly a wonderful book and a amazing insight from the life of King David's every day life with God ..the relatiionship, trust, confession of sin and experiencing forgiveness and the love in a everyday situation to be faithful in every aspect of his life.

Psalm 37 seems to be a general overview of many of the preceding Psalms; although once again it should be emphasized that the chronology is not in order but the verse about the righteous never being foresaken (v. 25) shows it is likely written after many others.

There are many examples found in other Psalms. For example; we see in verse 13 about God laughing at the wicked; which is mentioned in Psalm 2. Another example found in Psalm 10 is in verse 17 about the arms of the wicked which are broken. We also find verses elsewhere in scripture; including the N.T. One such case in verse 11 is quoted by Jesus in the Gospels in Matthew 5:5.

We even see elements of predestination in verses 23 to 24. Ephesians 2:10 talks of good works before the foundation of the world prepared for us to perform. Verse 24 gives us the concept of "Perseverance of the Saints" also echoed in Proverbs 24:16. There is the concept largely covered in Psalm 119 about having the law of God in their hearts (v. 31) Verse 34 could be a Millennial reference; exhorting us to wait on the Lord; such a theme of patience is found in numerous other passages along with promises of the Saints (as well as David) to rule when the Kingdom of God comes to earth. ( Jeremiah 30:9; etal).

The main idea here seems to be the eternal destinies of the righteous and the wicked and the brevity of this life. Passages such as in verse 28 are not popular today. As an individual; we should not seek vengeance on anyone in particular; but we should understand that the suffering of the church at large in the world where persecution is much greater than in this country; for example needs to be recompensed through Divine justice. We all are saved from wrath and being enemies of God and therefore we need to be humble in preaching the Gospel but also deliver the whole truth; including eternal judgment for the damned who will not repent.

"Resist the devil and He will flee from you" James 4:7

Dear Acbertha, I suggest disassociating with this person who is asking you to join this group.

We are told to "avoid even the appearance of evil". (can't find the verse)

So, it may be best to speak firmly to this person that you will not join him in this group because you are a Christian and belong to Jesus, not the devil, as this group follows the evil one.

What do I do. I want to wait until my God ge is refuge and my shield. He is also my comforter in times of need. What do I say to the man standing before me asking me to be initiated into illuminati.

Go you know that I have put all my trust in you for protection, healing, to be my judge lawyer and also to be my provider.

Today I vote seeking your face even in this situation. I know that when you come into this situation all the serpents shall be defeated. I call upon the name Jedus Christ my lord and saviour and plead that he intercedes in this situation.

I pray all this through Jesus's Christ who strengthens me. AMEN

Mark got the answer correct right there. It's the judgement of wicked (especially the backbiters). It can be both physically contextual to the events in Psalm 37 and also prophetic of the things to come shortly before the 2nd coming of Christ. I know someone else probably know the prophetic context behind this better than myself. In short, there is no rapture for the wicked. The wicked (those of Satan) will not be caught up. The rapture is Christ taking His church (the born again) right before the rapture begins so we (the elect) are not left behind to suffer the wrath of the 7-year tribulation.

I read a preacher once write this:

"Jesus came to earth the first time "TO" His own approximately 2,000 years ago

Jesus is coming at the rapture "FOR" His own

Jesus is coming again at the second coming "WITH" His own"

Satan has no plan of such but to seduce as many to a much fiery end during the tribulation.

The day spoken of in psalm 37:13 is most likely the day of God's judgment of the wicked, not the rapture of the Chirch.
  • Dee on Psalms 37:13 - 2 years ago
Does this mean there is a rapture of the wicked?

"...and he shall give you the desires of your heart" does not mean he will give you what you want. It means that your desires will be induced by God. That is why the next verse says "...he shall bring it to pass". It's not repetition. It is the granting of desires that he gave you, so to teach you to commit your way to him and trust him; then he will show you his trustworthiness by granting those Godly desires.
