What the Bible says about Burning Bones of King of Edom ( From Forerunner Commentary ) Amos 2:1-3 Moab's major transgression was the result of a long-burning feud between Moab and Edom. Out of spite and anger, the Moabites dug up the bones of a long-dead Edomite king and threw them into a fire.
This is another example of taking advantage of someone who is weak and defenseless. Can a corpse fight back? The principle here is that every sin has a boomerang. God noticed the sin, burning the bones of the king of Edom, and promised to avenge it ( Deuteronomy 32:35).
Praying for you all! Keeping our I on the prize! Thanks be to God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Grace ,mercy, and peace be multiplied unto you during this time. This is a great time to be alive, we will see the word become flesh and dwell among us! The coming of the Savior of the world.
Thanks Fred for your stance in Christ Jesus Our Lord and Savior. May we all be faithful and pray in one heart and one accord for His will. Have a great weekend and be safe.
Thank you Lord for reminding me where my blessings and provision comes from. Bless our leadership during this pandemic, and the situation in Afghanistan as well as our Southern Border. Bless the families that are separated during this time of crisis. I pray for the salvation of all concerned.
Thank you Lord for your promises and your faithfulness to Your Word.
Hi Eri. Thank you for that great message & reminder to all of us to reset our focus, not on the Earthly, but Heavenly. Colossians 3:1,2. And to stir the Spirit's Fruit in us ( Gal 5:22-26) that we might be a sweet savour unto Him ( 2 Cor 2:15,16).
As a society we give importance to material things and attribute the greater our accumulation of them, as the measure of worldly success. Although throughout history, it can be seen that when someone dies, all of their worldly goods are left behind. Hence the saying, "You can't take it with you." Even so, it is an accepted ideology, that having a lot of material gain, is a good & needful thing. Yet at the same time, it is not without it's downfalls. Because it is also very common that in our social circles, that as time goes by, we get tired and bored of all our 'stuff' and begin wanting newer, better, higher tech'y things, never being satisfied. And in so doing, we begin to lose sight of more important things like being selfless instead of selfish, not thinking about others before ourself or making sure all of our needs are taken care of, before even noticing if anyone else is struggling in need. But, according to the Holy Scripture, "What does it profit a man, to gain the whole world but lose his own soul?" Mark 8:36 - Herein, is a clear message, that becoming enfocused in mainly looking out for ourselves, will ultimately cause us to forget that we too, like every other beast, eventually reach the end, 'our final destination'. What will have been, our own great contribution then? Who will remember us and why? If all we've done, is insure our own personal self-satisfaction & a highly prized collection of trophies, tokens and treasures to simply collect dust and finally ends up being inherited by another who places little value on them, only to be sold, given away or trashed.., as has happened w/an array of trophies after years pass & new trophies are put in their place. It is wiser then, "..to lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven where neither moth nor rust doth currupt and where theives do not break in to steal." Matt. 6:20 Let us therefore, in humble compassion, strive for the prize of His high calling, run the race and "having done all, to stand." Eph.3:16
They consider riches their salvation. Their riches are what is precious to them. They have no hope except their riches. When they perish their hope dies with them.
Though God makes it clear about those who boast themselves of the multitude of their riches will perish like the beasts, the Psam still leaves chance for him to repent [([8]For the redemption of his soul is precious, and it ceaseth forever:) [9]That he should still live forever, and not see corruption.]
"Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling." There is no more thinking about how we feel or look like, or if we're getting everything we want, and people adore us, once the soul departs the body. All we were and who we were won't be there any more.
Verses 6,7: Even the wealthiest man or woman can not buy everlasting life. We must put our full faith and confidence in Jehovah God because he is the only one who can provide us with everlasting life.
At the age of 20 years old I had to have 'open heart surgery'. I was confident of where I would go in the possibility of a random medical complication. While laying on the cart, waiting to be pushed into the back room for prep work by the doctors, I had complete sound mind and peace of spirit about the matter. What was the worst thing that could have happened? - - I could have died. GREAT!!
That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. though bad things can happen to christians. and good things seem to happen to bad people. though both the evil and the good die. the upright shall have dominion over the evil left in the grave because he trusted in Jehovah God!
Psalm 49:15 This trully is a passage that creates confidence and peace in me concerning death. Along with 1 Thess. Ch. 4, I take a remarkable zeal against death, almost like the attitude that one boxer has toward his opponent.
I am child of GOD, and like Jesus, my Father will also one day raise me up out of the power of the grave.
When we are faced with struggles in life it is good to know that where we find most comfort is in God. As much as I would love the devil to stay gone he is not going to . My comfort is in knowing like Lazarus he cannot take heaven from me.
Waoo! wealth, Houses and good Name are important but we will one day leave them and go up there to our heavenly Father who have many mansions. therefore as col.3:1 urges that we that have risen with Christ should seek the things that are above.
"You can 't take it with you " Jesus encouraged us to store up treasures in heaven, rather than the earth. As we can see we can cultivate a lot of material possessions, but in the end when we die, they go to other individuals. So, I think this scripture is helpful in encouraging us to be generous with the our resources. "share the wealth " so to speak, because when you 're gone, it 's gone.
The conclusion of the matter is the last verse that is worth memorizing and meditating upon Man that is in honour, and understandeth not, is like the beasts that perish.
No man can redeem me from the power of Sheol but God will receive me in heaven for to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord Jesus said I am the resurrection and the life he that believes in me shall not die We just change addresses from earth to heaven
I want to congratulate a man who has done very well for himself. He's not just a man but a very young man in his early 30's.I really appreciate and admire his achievements.
Timothy Wayne George on Psalms 49:10 - 11 years ago
He seeth that the wise men, and the foolish die. The brutish together perish, and leave their wealth to others. Job asks the question: If a man dies shall he live again? The Lord Jesus answered it at the grave of Lazarus when He said I am the resurrection, and the life, he that believes in Me, though he be dead shall never die. Thank God that Jesus is the first fruits of all those that believe in Him. Blessed is he that shall be in the first resurrection. Be wise and give your goods to others for the glory of God, for we brought nothing into this world, and we will carry nothing out. The Psalmist said God shall redeem my soul from the grave, and I will be with Him. Praise God when we see Jesus we shall be like Him, fashioned like unto His glorious body. Everyone that has this hope, purifies himself. Death to the child of God is not the end, but a comma until Jesus returns for us in glory.
In some ways, this is the most sober of all the Psalms--but it is not somber. In it there is hope and life.
Money, and the things money can buy, are, in every generation, the great pretenders. Ever after Eden, the things that are seen with eyes of flesh have been raised up, above the things that are seen only by the lively soul. Corporal things, though temporary, are amplified to the brutish and the dull. Through literally “fool’s gold,” they usurp the eternal as objects of our genius, toil, desire, allegiance and worship.
The is why the First Comandment--and the Second Comandment are what they are.
This is why Jesus said what he said about God and money.
The one thing that threatens the vitality of the United States at this moment is its great wealth. The LORD has given us the power to become very rich, and now we have set our hearts on those riches. America is dying of success. In the "land of the Pilgrim's pride," true religion has given birth to prosperity, and now the daughter is choking the mother.
My the LORD raise up a new generation whose eyes and hearts and minds are fixed on Him—and my I be a part of that generation.
Hopefully this is helpful
