Psalms Chapter 6 Discussion

I read, psalms ch 6.. the message is clear too me that god probably did hear him. It may not have seem as though he heard him, but an example to all who read. That although it seemed god didn't answer him he was LISTENING. I think the suffering and what we assume the causes were is just a reminder to all it could happen to us. I'm sure he went to heaven. I just fill it in my heart. It's a clear learning experience of cold nights on the ground causing pain and as far as his relationships with other woman. Well we assume things, but I recall rumors of mary madeleine also had been with several men. I believe one that old person dies inside of you there is no memories for the person or God. See it's others that lay judgement and shouldn't. Bible speaks of past mistakes and being judged by each other. That's why so many people never truly get healed the way god wants for us. Just a thought.! The past is erased by god

There are some who think that David was afflicted with some type of venereal disease due to his many relations; and the descriptions of his sufferings in such passages. Others say it could be a bone affliction of old age such as osteoporosis. When he was dying he had care for what some would say are hypothermia. We see similar language of David's ailments in Psalm 32.

Apparently; as verses 8 and 10 indicate; God used his enemies to humble him; which were promised due to him in 2 Samuel 12:9 and following after his downfall with Bathsheeba and causing Uriah to die. These would taunt him for the rest of his days; and also would delay the Temple of the Lord to be built because David's transgressions and whatever was meant by his being a "man of war" ( 1 Chron. 28:3). That could be a veiled reference to causing death to Uriah in war; as well as battles that resulted from enemies that came after him due to his own sin.

God did chasten David as he states in verse 1. David surely was a saint of God; as we see from Hebrews 11:32. His broken and contrite spirit as seen in Psalm 51 allowed him to repent as he did many times; admitting his sin. Hopefully; since all scripture is for instruction ( 2 Timothy 3:16-17) we will avoid certain costly sins in our lives as things are written for examples to us in how to live.

Hello David. It's difficult to tell exactly from the Hebrew, but this verse seems to give direction to the chief musician for use of the stringed musical instruments (Neginoth), & specifically an eight-stringed lyre or harp (sheminith). As you might know, many of the Psalms were put to music & sung by Israel, even the early Church as part of their 'hymal', & so this instruction of using stringed instruments may have been used when this Psalm was sung. Six other Psalms are so directed as well.

During a discussion about marriage, a question came up about mixed race marriages. I grew up with the understanding and have the belief that the Bible has direction regarding the fact that people should marry their own kind. But, I cannot find anything regarding this. I am not talking about homosexuality but rather race, ethnicity, etc. Of course there is the passage that as God's children we "should be evenly yoked". However, my question is - is there a passage regarding race or anything regarding this issue of mixed marriage ie. white should marry white, black should marry black, etc. As a Christian, what is Jesus' teaching or God's commandment - not what society says is okay. If I am somewhat correct, please give me the book, chapter and verse where I might find direction on this matter. Thank you.

Psalm 5 is David's prayer to God, as one who stands in awe of God (v 7) & trusts Him for his protection (v 11). Unlike those who won't bend their knee to Him & all they do is wickedness which is abhorrent to God. Remembering, David suffered much from the plans & acts of wicked men against him.

So vv 5 & 6, is David's affirmation about the wicked people's stand before God as compared to those who are righteous. These wicked people are characterized by foolishness (Heb. word is 'holelim' = madmen). They foolishly oppose & fight against God but in that day of Judgement they will not be able to stand (= be acquitted) before God. In the same way, all who speak leasing (an old word meaning, lies or falsehood) shall receive the same fate from God as would those who shed blood & are deceptive in their talk. So these verses describe God's hatred to all manner of sin, whether being deceitful & liars, to those who are quick to shed blood.

So Ruby, if you need, in your meeting, to also give an application to these verses, then you could emphasize the Holy character of God, that He sees all people & their wicked hearts, that nothing escapes Him. We may think that a 'small sin', such as a white lie or being deceitful about something is no great matter, but before God, every sin is abominable & deserving of punishment. The only way to avoid God's anger is to come in fear (awe) of God, humble, cast upon His Mercies & repent sincerely of our past actions. And He does forgive us because of His Son's death on the Cross for us, as Jesus was made the propitiation for our sins ( 1 Jn 4:10, i.e. God's Anger which was against us was put on His Son, so Jesus carried to the Cross, not only our sin but God's Anger as well), & God was satisfied by it & so accepts even the worst sinner into His Family.

This verse reminds me of the old hymn, ' Trust and Obey'. God's wisdom and understanding is higher than human understanding. We may not understand why things happen, "but all things work together for good to those who love God". It is for our eternal good, not necessarily for our happiness. I am sure Joseph couldn't make any sense of why his brethren treated him so badly but he trusted God.

Verse 6~David was so greatly distressed that he cried many tears. When we are in distress we should cry out to Jehovah God too.

Mercy for the weak and healing for the vexed, needed by believers living here in world.Hear the rich man in hell with a new understanding of the scriptures and prophets, although too late for him.Believers are ready to leave this world behind at any time because it is painful/difficult to be here.Forgiveness is only found in Christ having paid for all your sins.Either you have it NOW,or you don't.

In God's grand plan of victory over evil,he has time and love for the least of his people. He sees,he hears,he provides,he leads. He is worthy of praise, now and forever."And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God,and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.".Knowing God now,is the start of forever for believers.Saved people are the minority in the lost world, but not in heaven.Pray

God is awesome, omnipotent, loving, caring even when we offend Him he does not retaliate like us human. He keep patience waiting for us to still turn back to Him. Psalms 6 teaches us that no matter what happens to us God is not sleeping, he is with us and we should not fear anything even death.

psalms 6:1; has a lot of information, David was a chief musician, and he delighted him self in the lord. David was aware of hell. he refer to it as Gods hot displeasure. hell is real,, and David prayer for Gods anger to turn for his mercies sake.
