Psalms Chapter 62 Discussion

  • Richard H Priday on Psalms 62 - 2 years ago
    Psalm 62.

There are parallel verses that seem to correspond with several verses here. We are reminded of the hypocrisy of the Pharisees in verse 4 when they tried to ask Christ questions to trap him

( Matthew 22:15). They called Him "good teacher" and said that He was a man of integrity as their pretext for showing respect before they asked Him about paying taxes. This could also be seen on other occasions as well.

The mention of vanity is repeated in Ecclesiastes that Solomon wrote some time later. (verse 9).

Finally; we see the warning about not setting one's heart on riches in verse 10; which is something that Solomon ignored; again as one of the themes in Ecclesiastes.

Verses 2; 6 and 7 all mention salvation and God being a rock. Surely; Christ is the Rock of our salvation as well. In this case; we could say that salvation could mean spiritually and physically being saved from David's many calamities. The theme of a refuge is seen more than once in the Psalm as well. This can perhaps be our mental solace despite outside circumstances that would otherwise overwhelm us.

Finally verse 3 reminds us of Jericho; and how the wall collapsed on the city (apparently archaelogical evidenced suggests that it fell inward).

May we trust in God for these promises today.

Psalms 9:10, Psalms 18:2,30, Psalms 56:3, Psalms 71:5, Isaiah 12:2, our trust & hope should ultimately be in GOD

    * Psalms 118:8, * Jeremiah 9:4, * Micah 7:5,6, Luke 12:52, Psalms 27:10, Ephesian 6:2,3, Proverbs 23:22, people even most dear can betray, abandon, abuse etc. There was much abuse, betrayal, within King David's family & those he served. 1Samuel 21, 2Samuel 15, Saul his King, his children, wife, etc. Starting with his calling, 1Samuel 16:5-11,

    Psalms 20:7,

    Psalms 62:2,5,8, 2Samuel 22:3,31,

    Job 4:17-21,

    Psalms 17:7, Psalms 25:2, Psalms 31:19,

    Psalms 40:4, Psalms 44:6, Psalms 49:6,7,

Luke 14:26, trust GOD 1st & only yet honor them, this may be when there is contradiction to GOD's will & commandments. Even Jesus faced those struggles with earthly parents & family. Mark 3:20,21, Mark 3:31-35, John 7:3-5, Luke 2:42-52,

    Hopefully these are helpful.

    Hi Carol.

    You've asked.

"Should I not trust my mother, my father or my pastor."

My answer to that, given no information into regards of anything specific I would say yes! "Naturally" you should be able to trust those love ones. And those love ones should play a role in your life in a biblical perspective.

This is where it is important that you study scripture to be able to use discernment. If they don't seem to line up with scripture, you bring those scriptures to them and reason out of scripture.

    God's word always have authority.

    God bless.

Regarding Trust : should I not trust my mother, my father or my pastor. please give me insight.

    Thank you
  • Tom on Psalms 62 - 2 years ago
Why does the Psalm say one thing and you ask your question using a synonym for that one word "riches". Don't confuse those who can't be anything but literal. You might be confused with someone trying to twist scripture looks so many do!
  • Samuel on Psalms 62 - 3 years ago
It's a pretty obvious piece here but I like Verse 4 that's prophesying the Pharisees interactions with Jesus Christ.

  • David on Psalms 62 - 3 years ago
I wait for the joy of my soul. Teach me to wait scripturally and worship you as befits you Lord. You are my Rock and my Salvation. I shall not be greatly moved. I wait for thee because my expectation is from you.

V7,8 "In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah."

The Lord is Power and Mercy! Praise the Lord for His benefits upon us daily. Help us to invite others to come under the comfort and peace of the wings of God. Help the Lost find the Redeemer's abundant mercy and grace. Then they too may expect the mercies from Him alone.

How long will ye imagine mischief against a man? ye shall slain all of you: as a bowing wall shall ye be, and as a tottering fence. In God is my salvation: the rock of my strength,

and my refuge, is in God.

This is a great verse for what's going on today in this world there are so many people full of hate right now walking around angry bitter every single day I'm seeing it more and more where is the love where is God's people at? We must not let this world take away our joy and our happiness these are hard times we live in but we must stay positive we must be happy and show love to others we have to stop the bitterness we have to stop the angry attitudes and hatefulness and show love to everyone

A great message for the totally depraved corrupt democratic party and all their friends. Enjoy what time you have left, hell is rising up to meet you. You are all fools, because you say there is no God.

I pray for everyone on this KJV Bible web site , I'm glad to share a bit of my experiences and things I have learned from the Lord thought the Bible and experiences.

I am concerned that there is so much confusion and darkness even in so called Christian groups etc .

I'm not trying to do anything but be faithful to the Lord , I'm not looking for money , followers fame what ever !

Let me encourage anyone to keep seeking the truth and don't be afraid to admit you where wrong, God already knows .

It's human nature to run or fight the light . It's not easy , but just submit to the Lord and trust his word seek mercy and you will find it !

Because He really does everyone of us , Jesus demonstrated that on the Cross !

My friend, it is so easy to live in the natural that is, living in the world understanding things and choices without the following of the Holy spirit. Even mature Christians sometimes fall short . Always pray and ask God for wisdom and knowledge keep the faith, and study God's word bless you in God's name in Jesus.

1 Corinthians 10:13 even applied to *JESUS*. no occasion of stumbling be found in *HIM*. Praise Our *LORD*.

Matthew 27:32, And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name: him they compelled to bear his cross.

Mark 15:21 And they compel one Simon a Cyrenian, who passed by, coming out of the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to bear his cross.

Luke 23:26 And as they led him away, they laid hold upon one Simon, a Cyrenian, coming out of the country, and on him they laid the cross, that he might bear it after Jesus.

John 19: 16 Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led him away.

17 And he (Simon of Cyrene 3 witnesses tell us) bearing *HIS* cross went forth unto a place called the place of a skull. Much misleading Art, some showing a scarcely scratched, loin clothed *JESUS*, and false teachers who break Bible principles: No single verse is of private interpretation.

Leaving us, who all were Lambs once, with deceptive images, and at times, false witness to pass on which is nigh Rev 21:27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or MAKETH A LIE: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.

Revelation 22:15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and MAKETH A LIE.

Cursed is the man who trusteth in man: Be a Berean and trust in the WORD, Zeph 2:3.Seek ye the Lord, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the Lord's anger.

Ephesians 4:15 but speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, CHRIST.16 from whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love. Wait thou only upon God - There is none but him in whom thou canst safely trust; and to get his help, resign thyself into his hands; be subject to him, and be silent before him; thou hast what thou hast deserved. See on Psalm 62:1 (note).

What a true statement, if every there was one! Satan has deceived most in that technology is better than anything GOD could give however what most don't know is that GOD owns everything. Remember Job and Peter, where God allowed Satan to 'sift' them. Christians MUST stay in God's word, so we can know. The Book of Proverbs is WISDOM, and prevalent for today's living. Thank you!
  • Robert DeHaan on Psalms 62 - 5 years ago
We live in a world of Satan s distractions, as the Bible tells us he is the prince of the air. This age of digital technology, Quantum Computers, information overload from cell phones to IPads. Talk of faster speeding of that information. To what end? It distracts most of the population from reading the Word of God. We need to fix our eyes on God daily. Praise Him who created all things.

All our confidence and trust should be placed in God. Do not trust in worldly things or man. Its our duty to cheerfully give up ourselves and all affairs to His will and wisdom trusting in God with a fixed heart. In preparing our souls for God we should constantly depend upon Him.Meditation and prayer are blessed means of strengthening faith and hope to the Rock of our Salvation.

I appreciate how God is a source of comfort for us at all times. When we feel like we can not talk to anyone else about our problems, God encourages us to pour out our hearts to him in prayer. When can be open and honest with our God Jehovah and he will listen to us. This reminds me that we do not have to carry burdens on our own. We can always turn to God for help.

Jesus, l want my words to others and my actions l show others to match your word. I fall short, but my desire is to grow more consistant with each day. Help me, please, so that everyone watching my life will be drawn to you. Father, give me the courage to live for what matters most. YOU!!!!!

  • Vanessa on Psalms 62 - 5 years ago
I trust in God only, seek his mercy and his will to be done in your life. Pray to him earnestly with all your heart, about everything , your needs as well , seek his will to be done, dont seek the will of man, for they are so corrupt with their own ideas, they pollute and corrupt the truth for their own gain. They promote sinful ways for gain, but they cant give forgiveness. Seek truth, love God

One of the hardest things for believers to do, is to wait on God, for His direction. We must not go ahead, or lag behind l: we must must move when the 'pillar of cloud by day', or the 'pillar of fire by night', is beginning to move! Blessings, RW

We must Trust GOD, with all of the turmoil that's going on in the world GOD is not pleased. From the Government, you can Trust that a shift is about to take place. In his word he said the Government will rest upon his shoulder. Hallelujah to the Lamb of GOD
