    Hi Dave,

I don't think its forbidden to make just "anything" from wood. If you have a certain scripture in mind, go ahead and post that and we'll take a look at what it says, whether it was a specific law for Israelites or ritual law or what. God blessed us with wood to use for all kinds of things. The Bible has many things made of wood, like the cross Jesus carried, both arks Exodus 25:10, and Jesus was a carpenter, so he made all kinds of things of wood as his job. People use wood paper to write on, to read books, like the Bible, and use it for toilet paper, paper towels and all kinds of products that would hard to avoid. Of course if the Bible said to avoid wood we would need to do that, but I'm not aware of anywhere in the Bible saying that. If it actually said that, a lot of people would not be able to live in an apartment or house or gather in a church, because most are made from wood.

I don't believe crosses are wrong. I believe idols and idol worship are wrong. If someone is worshipping a cross that is wrong. I haven't heard of anyone doing that. If the cross represents what Jesus did for us I think that's a good thing to worship Jesus in the presence of one. I've seen videos of catholics bowing to a statue of mary as a god. That is wrong. What is the object of worship should be the question.

Do you have a verse that says decorations are wrong- whether you have a hood ornament on a car or a house with a door knob with a design or a Bible cover? Is it possible you are merging a few verses like the one about women wearing excessive adornments 1 Peter 3:3?
  • Dave on Psalms 7 - 1 year ago
God said not to worship false idols, not to decorate or make anything from wood etc that is from heaven. ( not the exact words )

But churches are full of crosses with the Lord Jesus on them. And there are decorations of the heavens.

    How is this right?

This text is very good I love this bible I use it all the time, keep up with the good work this is what I expected it tells us that our Lord loves us and if our enemy slaps us don't slap them back just go run away and maybe tell your parents, so I lear bed that if someone does something to you don't get revenge on them cause God is always with you and she loves you and he always will

This Psalm goes through an early life experience of David; commentators state that the man mentioned verse 1 is one of Saul's "henchmen."

The Psalm asks for God's judgment in verse 6; hence is "impreccatory" in some ssense. It is more of a declaration of David's innocence and proclamation that if he has done anything amiss that he wished his enemies to overtake him (verses 3-5). Those sentiments made David a "man after God's own heart" ( 1 Samuel 13:14) at first; until the infamous Bathsheeba incident.

We should learn well from David's life as his own wishes for enemies to overtake him if he was at fault was part of the judgment after condemning Uriah an innocent man to death to get the woman he wanted.

Verses 11 through 16 show the general state of the wicked who are ensnared by their own sins (verse 15) as well as being judged by God (v. 13); the most extreme example of course being at Armageddon.

The last verse is praise according to God's attribute of righteousness. David was quick not only to repent with a "contrite and broken spirit" ( Psalm 51); but also praised God and even danced for him ( 2 Samuel 6:14-15). This sort of abandon seems unique among rulers in Israel and really cannot happen in a genuine manner without a heart that is of pure motive and open to the Lord's presence. That is a lesson we should take heed to as well.

Jesus said, "Father forgive them, for they know not what they do". He came to die and offer His forgiveness to His enemies and persecutors.

Father, help us in these difficult and latter days to have a right perspective. Grant a special mercy and protection to our Christian brothers and sisters facing intense persecution. Comfort them in their affliction and give them wisdom in the face of their persecutors. Grant them a quick escape route and keep them free from evil intentions. Help them to be "wise as serpents and innocent as doves". When they cannot escape in this life, grant them the peace of knowing that though they may destroy the body, they can never touch the soul of those who belong to you. May your Word continue to go forth unhindered and unbound. How beautiful are the feet of those who bring the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ: may they be blessed beyond measure! Amen and Maranatha!

God judges the righteous people, his people, and wicked people stir his anger continually. The righteous people have a trust in their God,from their hearts, and desire to see an end of wickedness, even in this world.Whereas the wicked never have him in their rambling of mind.Frustration, disappointment, and violence stem from the works of the wicked.Daily living in the awfulness of situations they bring on themselves is a just reward.Believers have pity for the wicked, but there is no like concern returning from them.Believers should not persue a desire to be as sinful, rather to be,pleasing to our God who is love. The judging of believers is an interaction with God, for our good, putting to death the old man within, and glorifying God,evoking praise for him, from within the heart which he has turned from stone to flesh.

Just correcting a spelling error: it should have been written as "to lift up or to exalt". Apologies.
  • Chris - In Reply on Psalms 7:16 - 3 years ago
The interpretation of Selah is not certain. We know that when it is used in the Psalter, it's often used in Psalms that are sung or of praise to God. Therefore, it can mean "to life up or to exalt" as an ending to some declaration. Or, it could be a direction or musical notation to the singers to "pause, be silent or become louder or softer according to the musical director". So, one cannot be certain as to its meaning or even how the Jews today view that word or if they take much notice of it in their readings.

I didn't support Trump in the beginning but he has been such a great President. Pro Christian, Pro Israel, Pro Constitution, Pro-Life, against Planned Parenthood. He stands for the Christians. Pray that God will give him Godly men around him to counsel him. Lord, I ask you to give President Trump discernment.

Sounds like the people behind the false impeachment of our President is in for a tuff time.

These dirges show the depth of David's relationship with his God, Jehovah. Even as a king, with fearsome warriors at his side, he turned to God to be his rescuer. This shows the need to really cultivate a TRUE relationship with God. Not a superficial one based off emotions, but one based of the convincing truth that God is a savior to his people, and that he will help us if we are obedient.

  • A dsiciple on Psalms 7 - 6 years ago
"The LORD shall judge the people: judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, and according to mine integrity that is in me." According to some forms of religion the offering of Cain or the prayer of the Pharisee would be nothing even to question. The world is filled with people who want to be productive and responsible and have made a way for making themselves righteous by some imagined moral superiority over others. But God searches the innermost self and the thoughts and intents of all our hearts, without respect of persons. It is to Him and to the cause of His Anointed, our Saviour Jesus, that we are evaluated and nothing else instead will move Him to favor or preference.

Bill (cont.); My complaint is that you will not respond as a brother to me, not to ensure we're both right with each other, or even to explain better what I may have misunderstood. Instead you stand behind a stone wall of silence, except to attack out of the ambush! That's my perception. But what have I really written that you think is unscriptural or not of the Spirit's thoughts?
  • A disciple on Psalms 7 - 6 years ago
Bill; I have really tried to reach out to you on so many occasions; and you don't answer what I write to you! The Lord said, If your brother trespass against you, go and tell him his fault. If he repent, forgive him. If he refuses to hear, take one or two for witnesses, and rehearse in their ears. If he still won't hear, bring it before the Assembly. After that there's nothing left of brotherhood.

Our words should differ from the words and ill intentions of unsaved people.People of this world who are spiritually dead, flail about to the hurt of believers, who tire of the condition the world is in,people who will suffer infliction of sin, like as,they bring on others every day.Believers are God's witness, see God's worthiness,Jesus, our savior, died for sin. They are in peril,we live by grace, saved
  • A disciple on Psalms 7 - 6 years ago
"Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just: for the righteous God tries the hearts and reins (mind, interior self). My defense is of God, which saves the upright in heart." God is not deceived by any false sentimentality concerning the wicked and their works; and He has put a difference between His people and those who will not come to Jesus for mercy and healing.
  • A disciple on Psalms 7 - 6 years ago
"The LORD shall judge the people: judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, and according to mine integrity that is in me." Integrity: completeness; fig. prosperity; mor. innocence; full, perfect, simplicity, uprightness; the root word for the stones set in the High Priest's Breastplate, meaning, Complete Truth. The integrity of the ground makes for the prosperity of the good seed sown.
  • A disciple on Psalms 7 - 6 years ago
Steve M; Neither Jesus nor any of the Apostles or Prophets ever went around only speaking Scriptures without teaching the sense and the meaning of the Sacred Text. We need to know what the Scripture means if we want to expound it to others; for how can someone believe in what they can't understand? When the Ethiopian Noble needed help understanding the meaning of the Scriptures, Philip explained.
  • A disciple on Psalms 7 - 6 years ago
Steve; I'm still not understanding; do you have something you want to say? Are you accusing me of all those things? You know that Proverb about a word FITLY SPOKEN? Tell me specifically what you think I write that's NOT of His Spirit, or that I speak out of my own mind. Give me ONE! You do not offend me but in part. But if what I write IS according to the Spirit's teaching, then why the hostility?
  • A disciple on Psalms 7 - 6 years ago
Steve M; Do I know who keeps erasing Scripture as if it doesn't exist?
  • A disciple on Psalms 7 - 6 years ago
Steve Morrow; AMEN! But unless you finish your thought with me, how do I know whether you are using the Word to encourage and support me, or to cut me in pieces with it? I hope its for comfort and encouragement! What is the gist of my doctrine? By what Spirit do I frame my thoughts and try to bring out the sense and the meaning of the Scriptures? What does the Word mean to you? How do you read it?
