Why is it so hard to believe that there may be a order of the Gods like the Enuma Elish suggest, which even Daniel 7 makes reference to by calling God the Ancient of Days. Even the Babylonia Creation Epic plays a significant role in jewish belief. I adhere to a group of Gods and Goddesses that are both good and evil.

'ye are gods ' but, But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ... 1 Corinthians 11 3

I agree with Kuriakose 's comment that it is meant literally as a FUTURE reality. It is stated very clearly by Jesus himself, it 's clearly not meant to be just about judges or magistrates. It means potentially anyone in the world who truly loves God by receiving his word.

It mean the glory of God should manifest in us as his loving childrent we must bear his image through our word and action
  • Christi on Psalms 82 - 10 years ago
"We are gods, we are children of the most high." As children of the Most High God, we are represent as god, or Christ-like. We are made in the image of God. We cannot do the things God does, but we can look into His face in the Holy Scriptures, giving us a 'godliness" about us. We can go about sharing the Holy Gospels as bold as a lion.

  • Kuriakose on Psalms 82:6 - 11 years ago
The great truth that every man should understand. We are all children of God. Jesus said "Be perfect as my father is perfect". Every human being has the potential of attaining perfection and at the stage of full emancipation to become sons of God as Jesus was. We are all potential Christs . The notion that Jesus is the ONLY son of God should be understood as a statement that implies that no one other than Jesus has qualified by his actions and deeds to be qualified as SON of God. That doesn't mean that there can be no other son of God in future. God and Jesus want everyone of us to qualify . the famous prayer of Jesus " let them be one with us as you and I are one" only means that. Had the Christian leaders taught this way there would not have been so much opposition to Christianity from others like Mahatma Gandi who said "If Jesus could be son of God we all could be too" This is nothing different from the teaching of Jesus

As He so, are we I love that He made us a little lower than him, I speak life to every situation...
  • Joshua derstine on Psalms 82:6 - 11 years ago
Others beside jehovah are here callex gods. Therefore that the word was called "god" or "a god" in john 1:1 is no evidence that the word was of the same essence or part of a trinity. Many are refered to as gods or even mighty god, but there is only one almighty god jehovah.

  • Rich on Psalms 82:6 - 11 years ago
Psalm 82, one might consider, has God say "Ye are gods" that is as in an understanding of Exodus 7:1. And that is: "7 And the Lord said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet."

This understanding is part of the burning bush anointing where Moses and Aaron learn for example, Exodus 4:15-16:

"15 And thou shalt speak unto him, and put words in his mouth: and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall do.

16 And he shall be thy spokesman unto the people: and he shall be, even he shall be to thee instead of a mouth, and thou shalt be to him instead of God."
  • Gary on Psalms 82 - 11 years ago
The "mighty" are not rulers. The Heb. is "el," meaning God. Jesus quotes verse 6 at Joh 10:35 and applies it to humans, so humans in authority are sometimes "gods" in a limited sense. See Ex 7:1 of Moses. Hebrew had no capital letters.
  • Niyi Amuda on Psalms 82:6 - 12 years ago
...Ye are gods. Psalms 82:6 means a lot to me. Wow! How amazing to realize that I'm not an ordinary human being but God. Parents begat their offspring to look like them. A monkey begets its kind. A goat same. God begets god. He that is from the Spirit is spirit. In other words, when we got born again, we’re literally like God. If we realize this truth, the devil will see you and flee. As He is, so are we in this world ( 1 John 4:17). We are His children, that's why, "ye are gods. Hallelujah!
  • HARRY ALLISON on Psalms 82 - 12 years ago

  • Charles akaruese on Psalms 82 - 12 years ago
christians are the image and likeness of GOD.So when psalms 82 refer to us as gods,i don't know what is difficult to understand.
  • Brian2 on Psalms 82 - 13 years ago
J, Psalms 82:6 does NOT clearly state humans are gods. Verse one clearly says he stands within the congregation of the mighty. The mighty in this case are kings and rulers. Since he stands in their congregation he is addressing them and, according to your theory, they alone would be "gods". Even if humans are "gods" it is not in the same sense as God is a God. Note the difference between the usage of the capitalized and uncapitalized word "God". Elsewhere the bible clearly says humans are Gods children by adoption, not blood.
  • J on Psalms 82 - 13 years ago
Psalms 82:6 clearly states that humans are gods. Why then do we Christians deny this and only believe that there's just ONE son of God when the bible says that we are all gods, i.e. God's children.
  • Brian on Psalms 82 - 14 years ago
To judge rightly is to judge in accordance with God's standard which is His Word. We should heed the example of Solomon and ask God for wisdom in order to bring fame to His name.
