"Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat and swallow a camel." ( Matthew 23:24) I've read many of the posted comments and am just saddened by meaningless debate over the name Jehovah...What about the joy of what David is saying: that God is most high and above all the earth...Instead of petty debate and attempting to prove man's doctrine or justify a certain religious belief, what's most important is glorifying God who is Jehovah, high above the earth, maker and creator of all things, by serving His only begotten Son Jesus Christ, that whosoever belief in Him, should not perish but have everlasting life. God's word is truth. without the Holy Ghost, noone will ever come into the presence of the Most High God
  • Paul on Psalms 83 - 11 years ago
The name Jehovah has been used around the globe for many centuries, it can be found in churches, on coins and on buildings to name but a few.
Some hold Jesus as Almighty God.
Jesus is not Almighty, but mighty god.
His Father alone is Almighty God.

How can we be sure that Jesus is the correct pronunciation, but we all still use it!

    JEHOVAH or YAHWEH, you choose!
  • Ar on Psalms 83 - 11 years ago
There are other books in the king James version that mention God's name Jehovah. In the new testament though Jesus taught us to name and call Him FATHER.
  • Mil on Psalms 83:18 - 11 years ago
If this is the only place in Kings Version than it is sad. To all sincere believers of God and Jesus Christ should wake up and do some real studying because God's name in original scripts is used almost 7,000 times and God requires from us to call upon his name. For example: Isiah 12:2,4,5 Jer. 33:2,3 There are many , many verses that needed to be studied by those who oppose God's name and believe in Trinity. I hope you wake up.
  • NKOSINATHI on Psalms 83:18 - 11 years ago
They are many gods and many lords but there is one true God-Jehovah.Any one who wants to pray to the true God will use the name JEHOVAH through his son JESUS i dont guess which god i am praying to.AMEN
  • Lamar on Psalms 83 - 11 years ago
This chapter is prophetic about the war against Israel that will come, we are close now as in Joel 3:2 These nations are coming against Israel,Egypt Syria Iran and Russia Etc. look at the names here and find the names if these nations today. 9/27/13
  • John the Baptist the 2nd on Psalms 83:18 - 11 years ago
Even the Watchtower society concurs that 'Yahweh' is a more accurate rendition than 'Jehovah'of Our heavenly Father's name.
  • Shannon Hughes on Psalms 83 - 11 years ago
Thomas, The New World Translation restored the name to it's rightful place EVERY time it was used in the original transcripts. Satan the Devil would love nothing more than for people to not use the name of God. He is truly behind it's absence in most Bibles today.
  • Joseph gakura on Psalms 83:18 - 11 years ago
The name is over all names,I like it writen in capital.
  • Ugochi on Psalms 83 - 11 years ago

  • Cheryl shepherd on Psalms 83:18 - 11 years ago
Some argue that the translation Jehovah is wrong but everyone's name sounds different in different accents/languages. This doesn't mean we shouldn't use that persons name, same goes for Jehovah god! Some say it is too holy to use (which is why it has been removed from some translations) but if god didn't intend us to use his name he wouldn't have given us it. It helps us to become close to him.
  • Pebbles on Psalms 83 - 11 years ago
I'm happy that some Bibles are now restoring the name of the our Creator, Jehovah. He deserves all glory and honor.
  • Mindy schafer on Psalms 83 - 11 years ago
To me this says they acted like they were friends to Jehovahs people only to get close to them, and then they thought they could take the Lords people out,But this will not happen because the Lord is in charge of the whole earth. And Jehovah Loves His people....
  • Martha on Psalms 83:18 - 11 years ago
God is just a title is not a name, like mister or misses (even the Devil is called a god), so if you in a room calling mister or misses who is going to get UB. Thats why our god has a name JEHOVAH
  • Thomas Elkan on Psalms 83:18 - 11 years ago
Amazing, then please explain to me as a person that does not reside in a SPECIFIC church organization, why it is that in TRUTH the name YHWH or JEHOVAH is actually used over 6500+ times throughout the BIBLE. It's God's name right? It's also a way for the reader to be able to see the separation and difference between FATHER and SON. Or is it because in our quest to abbreviate things it's shorter just to say GOD? Just curious.
  • Grant on Psalms 83 - 11 years ago
    I agree with Nina A.
  • Joyce Hutto on Psalms 83 - 11 years ago
During this period of time almost all of Israel's neighbors were against Israel. It was a trying time for the psalmist and the nation. He did not fail to ask God for quidance;noting how God had delivered His servant before,he petitioned God for deliverance, because he knew the opposing neighbors were plotting against him.He KNEW his enemies, just as we must know where our adversity comes from. He asked God for deliverance in order for his name and reputation to be upheld. He also asked that The Name of the Lord be recognized as the Most High of all Names on this earth. This last verse is the epitome of what Salvation and faith in God stands far,and that being just as the last verse states; That men may know that Thou whose name alone is JEHOVAH,art the Most High, over all the earth.
  • Roy Hartsell on Psalms 83 - 11 years ago
Everyone seems to comment on verse 18.What about the other 17 verses? There is great prophecy here. Look at verse 4.Does this sound like something you are hearing today? When the 17 verses happen,(which is the little war that is about to happen)then verse 18 will come alive. That men may know that thou, over all the earth.
  • Bouncing on Psalms 83:18 - 11 years ago
The most holy name in all of existence. JEHOVAH is his name.
  • Nothabo koni on Psalms 83:18 - 11 years ago
It only takes good courage and understanding for He searches for one’s heart. Jehovah, The Lord is the Most High. Let’s give Him all Glory and Praise.
  • Daniel on Psalms 83:18 - 11 years ago
I am happy to understand the flow of the bible now. It was meant to be taught and learned in a practical manner. Although original translators meant well, they accidentally confused masses of people. They are not at fault, Satan is, for he is the original cunning serpent. I care even for those who think they are right and do not know it. "Removal" of anything changes it's dynamic. The name Jehovah belongs and makes reading the bible easier and practical, like it's original intent.
  • John Denava on Psalms 83:18 - 11 years ago
Well in my mind I knew "Jehovah" was the highest father in heaven and so father, now rest on your seat on throne forever till Jesus who is on your hand right side becomes high King from earth when all Christians will be raptured to heaven to see the father and Lord, and will know them face to face and are glad to see own eyes. For best we will see Jesus coming down from and know who is? Amen. Praise the lord Jesus and the Father.
  • Nina A on Psalms 83:18 - 11 years ago
It is his introduction to us, it shows he is unique above all, he is matchless in every way, and shares not his glory. It establishes him reasonably as God alone not part of a god dishonouring triune entity. He is our God, Creator, Statute giver worthy of us getting to know and worshipped: Jehovah God the Almighty. Revelation 15:3, John17:3, Isaiah 33:22, Mark 12:29, Isaiah 42:8, John 14:28.
  • Alan on Psalms 83 - 11 years ago
Nice to see the wonderful comments. May Jehovah be praised forever.
  • Boret on Psalms 83:18 - 11 years ago
praise be to God of the Most High,JEHOVAH
  • Yanni on Psalms 83 - 11 years ago
In your Bible Psalms 83:18 does not give God´s name, as only says Lord. Lord is only a title.
  • Roy Hartsell on Psalms 83 - 11 years ago
There is a vial in front of the throne of God that holds the prayers of God's people. They are brought out when needed. Asaph's prayer is 3,000 years old. Read it. It is about to be answered. All the nations around Israel are about to be destroyed.
  • Donavan on Psalms 83 - 11 years ago
It's about Iran, Syria, and Russia; they have taken up counsel against our Fathers land Israel. They are talking about killing His people and taken His land for themselves, but it will not happen. Our Father is too Great.
  • Chris on Psalms 83:18 - 11 years ago
Jehovah is the closest translation of the holy scriptures compared to original Hebrew and Aramaic manuscripts. Jehovah wants us to know him. Why do you think He sent His son Jesus Christ? I AM ONE OF JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES. AND I AM PROUD TO SAY THAT. I am so glad someone came to my door and offered me a bible study!
  • Tonya on Psalms 83 - 11 years ago
The bible said, don't take away from it. My name is Tonya not girl, not lady not sister those are titles and not my name. We are to praise his name and it’s Jehovah. And for me that's the truth he is my creator and his son Jesus is my savior.
