It’s nice to see so many comments on the truth. Jehovah has been making his name known through his witnesses during the time of the end. The sad reality is that people who claim to be Christian are so ingrained in pagan traditions that they will not believe it and would rather continue their worldly lifestyle. The truth is being made known and Jehovah will let every person on earth know he is Jehovah, when he sends his son Jesus at Armageddon. Jesus said the time of the end will be just the same as Noah’s day when the truth was being told, the signs were being told but no one wanted to listen but would rather ridicule and continue in their lifestyle until the flood came and swept them all away.

Many bible translators agreed with the Jewish tradition of omitting or changing the Divine name. But what did Jesus said about the Jews? Matthew 15:6 "and so you have made the word of God invalid because of your tradition."
  • Darren on Psalms 83:18 - 12 years ago
I feel that we should all know God’s name but we should not use it, after all you would not call your dad by his name would you, that would be disrespectful, likewise with God’s name. If it was real in the old manuscripts then it should not have ever been removed ( Revelation 22:18-19).
  • LULU on Psalms 83:18 - 12 years ago
How interesting that we as humans give more importance to a celebrity name by copying said names to give to our children; yet the name of Jehovah God has been removed from Bible translations. Do we not get angry or bothered, if a coworker forgets our name. Imagine how Jehovah God must feel. Worst are those claiming to serve him, yet teach that his name cannot be pronounced. I will continue to pray to him by using his name.

For I testify unto every man that heareth the word of the of this book, if any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book; and if any man shall take away from the word of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. Revelation 22:18,19.
  • Gawebgirl on Psalms 83:18 - 12 years ago
The name Jehovah was removed due to superstitions around the time when King James approved the new translation into English. God's name was too holy even to be mentioned. Jehovah is my personal friend and I use his name in every prayer! I don't want to accidentally pray the wrong GOD!
  • KRSTLL on Psalms 83 - 12 years ago
Absolutely Yes to the above. If you think it not to be so, search for yourself. That's what "we" did. "the pure language".
  • Adria bryan on Psalms 83:18 - 12 years ago
    Thy name is JEHOVAH!
  • André on Psalms 83 - 12 years ago
    @Marti,
The word Jehovah is but one of the renderings of God’s name in Hebrew. Just like you said, some render it Yahweh, ...
But in most instances, King James used the English meaning of God’s name as ‘’the Lord’’.
    God bless you.
  • Marti on Psalms 83 - 12 years ago
This is to the question from NOTW’S : "so how did you come up with Jehovah?" The word Jehovah is the grammatically correct English word structure for Yahweh as found in the Oxford English Lexicon/Dictionary when one looks up the word Yahweh in that dictionary.
  • Cheryl on Psalms 83:18 - 12 years ago
Can you imagine having a very close friend for years and not know their name. The scriptures urge us ( James 4:8) Draw close to God and he will draw close to you. He even assures his worshipers:"I, Jehovah your God, am grasping your right hand, the one saying to you, 'Do not be afraid. I myself will help you."-- Isaiah 41:13. Scriptures say there are many "gods" and many lords", there is actually to us one God the Father out of whom all things are and we for him, and there is one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things are, and we through him. At 2 Corinthians 4:4 it says the god of this world blinds the minds of the unbelievers that they might not see the good news of God and the Christ who is the image of God, might not shine through. So the god blinding the minds is who 'Satan', he is also mentioned at 1 John 5:19, which says "We know we originate with God , but the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one" so when you pray to God the Almighty, use his name Jehovah and you will be noticed by him and you too can draw close to the only true God, and gain everlasting life which only he can give you. " John 3:16".
  • Kevin on Psalms 83 - 12 years ago
I agree with many here that the removal of God's name from his own book was a part of the apostate prophecy Paul talked about and also what was meant when Jesus said the road to life is cramped and few are finding it. Nobody in the main stream of Christianity knows God's name has been removed nearly 7,000 times in the Hebrew Scriptures alone. Who freely use and support his name? His witnesses do. Look in the front of your Bible and in many it offers a reason for the removal of Gods name but ask yourself, what man made reason is there to remove God's name from his own book that HE wrote? Was he wrong in putting his name in his book?
  • Henry matthews nefdt on Psalms 83:18 - 12 years ago
There are so many people that dispute so many things about the written word. God's name is right at the top of the list. God, just like you and i, has a name. That name sets HIM, apart from all other god's. I don't just serve God or a god. i serve Jehovah God, the one TRUE God.

It's pretty obvious that Jehovah had his name taken away, it's the bible's existance is to sanctify his name. The nations will have to know he is Jehovah.
  • Erick on Psalms 83 - 12 years ago
How beautiful is to see how we are being obedient to Jesus, by sanctifying Jehovah’s name his father. ( Matthew 6:9)
  • Ann johnson on Psalms 83 - 12 years ago
What is His Name and what is His son's Name if thou can'st tell. The Name of Jesus was kept secret til the angel revealed it. We are told He received His excellent Name by inheritance. He said I am come in my Father's Name. He said, Before Abrahamn was, I AM. I submit to you that the Name of the Father and Son are the same and that Name is Jesus!!!!! It is the only Name given whereby ye must be saved. Hear O Israel the Lord thy God is ONE Lord. Great is the mystery of Godliness. Acts 2: 37, 38 Obey.
  • Jay on Psalms 83 - 12 years ago

Praise the Universal SOVEREIGN! JEHOVAH GOD!
  • Sally on Psalms 83 - 12 years ago
RE: Cyntha Kolb's comment That is why Jehovahs Witnesses call on people. To find ones that really want to see from their own Bible what the truth is. The Bible is what we teach from and about. If you can please contact the local congregation and come and listen to all the wonderful truths found in the Bible.
As for the comment about Jesus being God please look in the Bible and you will see many times Jesus' own words that "The father is greater than I am" and that Jesus is identified as the firstborn of creation. Plus Matthew 24:3636 “Concerning that day and hour nobody knows, neither the angels of the heavens nor the Son, but only the Father
Jesus as God's son doesnt know the hour therefore Jesus is not God.
Also when Jesus was baptised his Father spoke from heaven saying "This is my Son the beloved"
There are many more Scriptures that show us that Jesus is the Son and Jehovah is his Father and God.

I do know that we are seen as a cult or sect by some.We where also seen as this back in the time of ancient Rome.

But ask yourself these questions, what other faith do you know that has used the name of Jehovah so consistently and has preached about that name and in the exact way that Jesus taught his followers, which was door to door & house to house ?

What other faith do you know that has published Billions of magazines, books, pamphlets & brochures for so long in almost every language on earth, not only covering the divine name of God ,but also about his loving purpose for all of Mankind ?

What other faith do you know that has no divisions among themselves, never goes to war against his fellow man regardless of the country that they live in,do not take sides in politics, nationalism or ritualistic practices ?

What other faith do you know that doesn't elevate itself over other men, cloth themselves with showy & boasting apparel, adorn their places of worship with Gold,Silver & expensive statues, passes collection plates seeking money all the time,or separates women from men at worship ?

What other faith is willing to go to YOU and come to Your home,on Your time to teach You and ALL of Your family about the word of God,regardless of Who You are,Your social standing or where you may live...FOR FREE ?
  • Susan on Psalms 83:18 - 12 years ago
Jehovah's name has been removed from the original texts of the Bible almost 7,000 times and replaced w/ LORD. That can lead to much confusion, i.e. Psalm 110:1. What does that mean? and who removed the name and why?
  • Terry on Psalms 83:18 - 12 years ago
most religions dont know Jehovah's name let alone use it but I know they are false religions and Jehovah will destroy them as is fitting.Let jehovah's name be sanctified
  • Ray on Psalms 83:18 - 12 years ago
One. This number, when used figuratively, conveys the thought of singleness, uniqueness, as well as unity and agreement in purpose and action. “Jehovah our God is one Jehovah,” said Moses. (De 6:4) He alone is Sovereign. He is unique. He does not share his glory with another, as is the case with pagan trinitarian gods. (Ac 4:24; Re 6:10; Isa 42:8) There is oneness in purpose and activity between Jehovah and Jesus Christ (Joh 10:30) and there should be complete unity of Christ’s disciples with God, with his Son, and with one another. (Joh 17:21; Ga 3:28) Such oneness is illustrated in the marriage arrangement.— Ge 2:24; Mt 19:6; Eph 5:28-32.

    who to Worship????read!!!!
John 4:21-24) Jesus said to her: “Believe me, woman, The hour is coming when neither in this mountain nor in Jerusalem will YOU people worship the Father. 22 YOU worship what YOU do not know; we worship what we know, because salvation originates with the Jews. 23 Nevertheless, the hour is coming, and it is now, when the true worshipers will worship the Father with spirit and truth, for, indeed, the Father is looking for suchlike ones to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit, and those worshiping him must worship with spirit and truth.

John 7:16) Jesus, in turn, answered them and said: “What I teach is not mine, but belongs to him!!! that sent me.”why worship the creation rather the the creator that would'nt make sence right????
Jehovah is his name, God is a title.
  • Sue on Psalms 83:18 - 13 years ago
"It is hallowed be thy name " not " hidden be thy name" should not have been removed in the st place

    Maigyn's comment about verse 18 on 5/23/2010, 12:43pm...

Because when religions use Jehovah's name as a title, it smudges the name and things appear that a certain sect is the truth when in actuality, it a cult.

All religious sects are cults of sorts. Its the occult that you dont want to be associated with. And we all know that leaders name to be Satan!

I could say, Hey have you tried one of those burgers? And you relpied one of what burgers! And I answered you know one of THOSE burgers. you would not have a clue as to what I was referring to. A GOOD burger doesnt explain it, or a HOT burger doesnt explain it, or a TANGY burger doesnt either. Just exactly which burger am I talking about? Without a specific name it means nothing significant. the Bible says Gods name will be known, and it says there will be witnesses of him. Of who! God? Jesus said there is only one God one Jehovah. So whoever those witnesses may turn out to be, they will be witnesses of Jehovah. And they come from all tongues nations and religious sects or cults.
  • Ray on Psalms 83 - 13 years ago
Jesus is also known for his parables. That way he could explain things that everyone (except the haughty proud ones) could understand by his illustrations.
I am surely no equal to Jesus. He was perfect and is my exemplar. I try to follow his teaching as well as any imperfect human can. With that let me use this little scenerio to illustrate a point.
I have hot water heating where I live. And it doesnt cost me a thing.
However I see an ad for a room heater. One that heats a room comfortably with radiant heat (not forced heated air)It is so safe , a person can leave papers on it without combusting. Your pet can lay on top of it when it is running at the highest temp and not get one hair singed. It is so safe you can leave it unattended. The most alluring feature is that it cuts heating costs sometimes up to 50%. With just a minor cost in electricity used.
So if I buy this for a minimal cost, will it benefit me as it advertises? Well considering the fact that it will give me comfortable safe heat at a minimal increase in my electrical bill, maybe.
Would'nt it be foolish though. Why invest in all the technology when it doesnt fully accomplish (for me) what it advertises. Comfortable safe heat and mainly "Savings!"
By sound reasoning I see that I will not gain any benefit.
You read the scenerio andprobably thought," How stupid could one person be. To even consider the thought that they would benefit."
That is the whole point of this. That you recognize stupidity.
By reasoning with the fact that," I do not have to pay for heat of any source". Also not allowing that fact to be clouded out by (someone elses suggestion)the ads promotion, I do not make a foolish purchase.

In Bible language, “stupid ones” refers, not to those who lack intelligence, but to those who ignore the wise counsel from God’s Word.
This very scripture ( Ps 83:18), taken from the earliest publication of King James (1611) was translated from the actual scriptures containing Gods true name,"JEHOVAH".
There are those who refuse to except this name because of lack of knowledge or blind faith from following the unfounded teaching of (stupid ones) others.
We should take in consideration what the Bible teaches us “He that is walking with wise persons will become wise, but he that is having dealings with the stupid ones will fare badly.”— PROVERBS 13:20.
  • Lito on Psalms 83:18 - 13 years ago
That Great name JEHOVAH will endure for all eternity. All the nations will have to know that God's name is JEHOVAH.( Ezekiel 38:23)His name will be sanctified, when He Himself makes it manifest.
