Yes Luoma , you are right . Remember the plagues in Egypt ? All those terrible things that God brought onto the Egyptians ? The one before last , the thick darkness ? That must have been terrifying ! What happened to the Israelites then ? They had light in all their dwellings ! Christ is our light and we can be sure that God knows how to protect and provide for His own . Stay strong and the reward will be overwhelmingly awesome ! Much love in Christ .
We have to keep the faith that God will show us and lead us the right way and not to take that mark, that's when the Holy Spirit will speak through us, & we have to let him do it, What's going to be hard is not being able to buy, trade, or sell. Put food up in your cabinets, and save gold medals to trade for food. God always shows us a way out, we can depend on that, Don't take the mark
Lina, may God's favour continue to shine upon you.
Hebrews 5:8 Though he were a son, yet he learned obedience by the things which he SUFFERED.
We bear the same cross and walk the same path to Calvary.
1 Corinthians 15:31 ...We DIE daily..
Romans 6:6 ...our old man was crucified with him .....
Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nonetheless I LIVE, yet not I, but Christ LIVETH IN ME: and the life I now live IN THE FLESH I live by the FAITH OF THE SON OF GOD, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Colossians 1:27 ... this mystery ...CHRIST IN US .....
Thank you BELOVED . It's alright. It made me so much stronger. It truly prepared me for the world today. I know without any doubt that I MUST KEEP GOD IN THE FOREFRONT OF MY LIKE. I MUST continue to be the CALLED OUT, THE SET APART one that HE wants me to be. However, that human side of me still comes in to play. My desires to be LOVED by others even my own children . The wantingness to be loved by a husband or just mere companionship of others. The loneliness is hard at times. I know I'm never alone, but physically I am. Nonetheless, I must go on in Christ Jesus name. My BLESSINGS come each NEW day I am able to see the 4 walls of my home and not the 4 walls of my grave. I don't get a call that a loved one has departed. My children and grandchildren are doing fine. My mother is still yet alive...etc. I AM STILL BLESSED. I MUST learn NOT to be as the children of Israel and murmur or complain. The MIST HIGH GOD knows what HE'S doing in my life. I should sit back and follow HIS lead. Take the I out of SIN and replace it with O for The SON. Take i totally out of the equation and I'll be much much better. Thank you again for your response. MAY THE MOST HIGH GOD CONTINUE TO BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY WITH PEACE, LOVE, AND TOTAL PROTECTION.
Hi Lina. I'm sorry you had to grow up in that environment. It's truly sad when parents give preference to one or more of their children and physically, mentally, spiritually abandon the others.
Take heart. Revelations 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes....
because they don't know how to walk in the ways of God for themselves. Similarly, there comes a time in every Christian's life when he has to learn to do things for himself. David said, "Surely I have behaved and quieted myself, as a child that is weaned of his mother: my soul is even as a weaned child" ( Ps. 131:2).
In a church I served, there were two older ladies who were spiritual babies. Even though they had been saved for a long time and were baptized in the Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues, they were the biggest babies in our church. They needed a lot of attention and would miss church on Sunday just so I would visit them on Monday!
Christians ought to grow up enough so that they don't always need someone to visit them, pump them up, pray for them, and feed them. They need to grow up so they can help somebody else.
EPHESIANS 4:14. CHILDHOOD
14 That we henceforth be no more children.
Children can be a handful! They are often curious and like to get into things. One time I came in with a sack and put it on the kitchen table. In no time at all, one of my young granddaughters was in the sack, wanting to know what was in it. Spiritually immature children get into things too. They poke their noses in places where they shouldn't. They are always in other people's business. Another thing about children is that they have never learned the value of silence.
Sometimes people say something hurtful and afterward say, "Oh, I was only joking." No, they weren't! They were being mean and hurtful with their words and then were trying to cover it up by saying it was a joke. Proverbs 12:18 (NIV) says, "Reckless words pierce like the sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing." Psalm 141:3 says, "Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips." We need to watch what comes out of our mouth. Our words should lift others up, not tear them down ( Eph. 4:29).
We were wounded and needed help. Proverb 18:14, Is. 53:5. Be quick to forgive yourself.
Beloved, you need to let this go. Forgiving ourselves is mandatory. :) I read this years ago and kept it. Maybe it was for you. You were a baby Christian when that happened.
Ephesians 4:11-15
Did you notice in verse 15, Paul tells the Christians in Ephesus to "grow up into him in all things? Evidently, Paul didn't think that the Church at Ephesus had grown up yet. He also said in verse 13, "Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, UNTO A PERFECT MAN."
In The Amplified Bible, this phrase is translated, "that we might arrive at really mature manhood." In these verses, Paul is encouraging us to reach spiritual maturity. He is encouraging us to grow up spiritually.
Throughout the New Testament, we see a striking similarity between spiritual and physical development. In fact, there are three stages of spiritual development that correspond to physical development. They are: babyhood, childhood, and manhood.
Even though a person can be a born-again Christian for many years, he can still be in either the babyhood or childhood stage of development in certain areas of his life. As you take a look at each stage of spiritual development, you may see where you need to grow in certain areas.
BABYHOOD
1 PETER 2:2. As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby.
Newborn babies require a lot of work.
In the same way, you can't expect young Christians to do for themselves. You need to follow up with them after they first come to your church and encourage them to return, or at least to get involved in another good church. They don't understand much about the things of God, so you have to spend a lot of time teaching and counseling them.
They'll come crying on your shoulder about this, that, or the other thing. They don't have a lot of confidence in their own prayers, so they'll ask everyone they see to pray about the same thing over and over again. You have to carry them, so to speak, because
Bless your heart beloved. I too remember when I got baptised. I was 12 years old. I knew very well what I was doing. I LOVED going to church. I decided to get baptised at twelve because it was the first time Jesus did his first teaching in the Synagogue. No family was there for me. When the Deacon took us home I told my mama. I thought they would be proud of me, but NO.....NOTHING. I just continued to trust in Jesus and be fearful of disobedience.
I read your reply to Adam. I was just the opposite of you. I tried loving my family members ALL my life, but NOTHING. No matter what I did or said they just didn't love me like the others. This includes my parents, grandparents, aunt, uncles, cousins. I DIDN'T FIT IN ANYWHERE. I saw them going to church Praising God, PRAYING before bedtime, PRAYING over our meals, everything a Christian would do. Yet, I was still always on the outside. They cared and loved outside people more than me. Yes, they did for me. They protected me. They did as minimal as possible for me. I just don't know to this day why I was singled out. They are resting in The Lord now. All except my mother and her brother are gone. However, that same spirit still is yet here with everyone.
Something that sort of stood out to me was where you said that "You just had to take God/Jesus at their word." What I am understanding is that you were expecting some sort of grand experience after calling upon the Lord to save you, and when that didn't happen, you decided to just trust that the Lord would do what He said He would. That's about all we can do is take Him at His word and trust in His promises.
I received Christ almost 25 years ago. There was nothing spectacular as far as experience goes. But like you say, I had to take the Lord at His word. Romans 10:13 says that all who call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved, not might be, but will be.
But with that, let me share this with you. It doesn't say that this salvation is immediate. But the promise is still there. Some get saved immediately, and for others it could take a while. You see, the Lord knows our heart. He knows if and when we are ready to completely surrender our life to Him. He prepares our heart until we are ready to turn from our ways and make Him the Lord of our life.
As far as the incident you have been agonizing over for 48 years, the only advice I can offer you is to let it go. 1 John 1:9 says, If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If you've asked the Lord for forgiveness, you need to trust that He has forgiven you. He is a faithful and just Lord.
And you are very welcome for what I shared with you on Hebrews 10:26. God Bless!!!
We're a work in progress, sometimes in life I've been tired emotionally, physically, mentally & spiritually. Love isn't always a feeling, it's choices. When we show compassion towards people (made in GOD's image), that's love towards GOD. Scripture examples noted above. Thanks for trusting us with the depth of truth of what you were feeling & experienced, even now.
The Lord knows your heart and forgives but you must also forgive yourself then shall you be free..... I will say a prayer for The Lord to help you with strength in letting it go..... Peace....
I noticed your comment about your baptism experience. I too was baptized- I was young and as I grew into adulthood I starting having doubts about how legitimate it was, because I was mostly 'going along' with what family and peers were doing. I also fell away from faith for a short period of time. But I came back and felt compelled to be baptized again and so I decided to be baptized on a church trip to Israel in the Jordan river. I'm grateful for the experience and happy with that decision. So, I was baptized twice. No one ever said you can't be baptized more than once and continually recommit yourself to being a follower of Jesus Christ. Some people do this in marriage as well and I see value in it.
It's possible you have already done this, but since you didn't mention it, and since you said this has bothered you for 48 years, if you have still doubts and regret about your past actions why not recommit today and be baptized again?
Also, maybe I'm not understanding something but to me it didn't sound like you did anything wrong. I didn't love myself either when I was younger and certainly didn't love others much nor God, probably. That didn't mean I was opposed to Him, it just meant I was immature and didn't have much self love in order to offer love to others. Maybe you can relate? But if so, I don't believe that's your fault. I think it takes time to mature, to grow and learn how to love ourselves so we have a reservoir of love to share with others, including to Jesus or God the Father. Maybe this opinion will be of some value and I hope it's not unsolicited.
"I would like to share a couple of things with you. You mention getting saved so I have to assume that you have surrendered your life to Christ and been born of His Spirit."
At that time, I understood absolutely NOTHING, except that IF I didn't accept Jesus as my Savior- I would go into the Lake of Fire. So I prayed and asked Jesus to be my Lord and Savior. I waited by my bedroom window expecting the golden mantle of Salvation to drop down from Heaven and settle around my shoulders. When that didn't happen, I just had to take God/Jesus at their word. Then I went to the Evangelical church to be baptized (total submersion) in front of the whole congregation. I was a very shy person and loathed to be on display in front of hundreds of people. The pastor dunked me and then when he brought me up out of the water, he asked me.... (putting me in an awkward position)..... [and here the thing I imagined was a snake with it's forked tongue sticking out].... "Don't you just love Jesus?"
I nodded yes. I lied. I got saved because I was told I had to. I didn't understand the magnitude of what Jesus did for us or what he went through, like I do now. Had I not been put on the spot and could think more clearly, I would have said, "I don't know Him well enough yet to love Him." But, that would have put the pastor in an awkward position.
So I've been agonizing over this incident for 48 years. I've prayed and prayed about it, begging for forgiveness.
I would like to share a couple of things with you. You mention getting saved so I have to assume that you have surrendered your life to Christ and been born of His Spirit. If so, you belong to Him. Just as Paul professed himself to be a slave to Jesus Christ, we also are a slaves to Christ if indeed we belong to Him.
The section you mention in Hebrews Chapter 10 is not talking about a saved person losing their salvation. Those who don't believe in the eternal security of the believer will use Hebrews 10:26 to show that a person can lose their salvation. That's not what it's talking about. It's talking about those Jews who were following along with the teachings, "receiving the knowledge of the truth," but instead of surrendering their lives to Christ, they were turning away and going back into Judaism.
Those Jews had a very tough decision to make, either denounce Judaism and surrender to Christ, or turn back because it would be much easier for them to do so. If they received Christ as their Savior, their family would disown them, they would lose their jobs, and they would be kicked out of their own temple. That was their dilemma.
So Hebrews 10:26 is speaking of those Jews who were considering turning back. So the writer is basically telling them that Jesus Christ is the final sacrifice for your sin. If you want to turn away from this gospel message and go back into your system of Judaism, your system of sacrificing for sin, there remains no other sacrifice.
As far as where you stand, only you know where you stand with Christ. Only you know if you've fully surrendered your life to Him. If you have, your salvation is firm and complete in Christ Jesus. He is the final sacrifice for your sin. He purchased you with His precious blood. It is by His power alone that you are being kept until the day He comes to redeem His purchased possession (You and I). My friend, you have to trust in His promise ( Romans 10:13, John 6:39, 1 Peter 3:5).
Philippians 2:12 please notice the similarity in these verses in context Philippians 2:3-4, read Philippians 2:1-15,
Matthew 25:31-46
Proverbs 3:1-35
Isaiah 58:1-14
Jude 1:1-25
I have drawn comfort from these scriptures. Jude 1:24-25, 1 Jude 1:21,
Nahum 1:7 also in context is the bigger picture
Luke 12:32Luke 12:1-59
1 Colossians 1:10-23
Philippians 1:6
I hope these scriptures give you a bigger picture that the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY is showing us & are encouraging to you. Many more I wanted to share but deleted & held back to not overwhelm with too much reading all at once.
Dgjot, may CHRIST IN US grace us with HIS wisdom and HIS understanding.
Try to understand that you ARE NOT separate and apart from God, but ONE, you do not exist apart from God.
NOW:
Philippians 2: 13 For it is God (the spirit of LIFE and TRUTH IN YOU) that WORKETH IN YOU both TO WILL AND TO DO his good pleasure.
He is the ONLY LIFE and he is working to make you that LIFE ALSO. He want FAIL.
Ephesians 1:11 In whom we also have obtained an INHERITANCE, being predestinated according to the PURPOSE OF HIM who worketh all things after the council of HIS WILL.
Romans 8:29 For whom he foreknow, he also predestinated to be CONFORMED TO THE IMAGE OF HIS SON, so that he might be the first borne among many brethren.
Isaiah 14:24 ....Surely as I have thought, so it shall come to pass, an as I have purposed, so shall it stand.
Fear not! Walk with Jesus Christ, read and believe His Gospel. Follow HIS commandments and he will guide you to everlasting life!
None of us will ever be perfect. We must try to follow in Christs footsteps, and when we fall short, we must pray for forgiveness.
Jesus will be our JUDGE and he tells us in scripture what he will look for in us:
John 3:5
"Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."
We must believe, and be baptized in Water and the Holy Spirit!
Revelation 22:12-14
12And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. 13I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. 14Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
Above, Jesus tells us that we need to follow God's 10 commandments, hopefully in doing so, we will be producing the good works/good fruit as required by Jesus above, in order to enter in though the gates of the city.
Y'know, the more I read stuff like this- the more I think I don't stand a chance of entering heaven
Yes I know, that Jesus died for all of us. Yes I know, that the redeemed have been washed in His blood.
Then I read verses like Hebrews 10:26-31:
26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
30 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.
31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
I really don't know where I stand. Back in the days when I first got saved, I was led to believe that just praying "the sinners prayer" once got one into heaven. I thought I was safe. While I may have received the Truth, I didn't understand it. While I didn't do anything really bad like murder or sleep around, I stumbled around in my life trying to figure things out. I may have goofed in a few places. I did murmur a lot because I never received any help. I have no one to blame but myself.
If one ignores God, God will leave them alone. The Holy Spirit of God sees all, hears all and knows our darkest thoughts and the desires of your heart. We must desire God's Will in our lives. If we don't, everything we try to do on our own will turn to garbage.
Precious friend, sorry to hear about your fear and tribulation; I will pray for you. God has not given HIS 'children' "the spirit of fear, But Of PEACE, and a 'Sound' mind!" ( 2 Timothy 1:7 ).
Please make sure you know The Scriptures {in the "link" below...} 'Before' you go to the "death you Are Hoping For," As God LOVES you!:
Wow. I've read the comments and everyone has a different opinion on what is and isn't.
I get a headache trying to figure out what is and isn't. All I can do is pray that Our Father and His Son, Jesus will keep me from being deceived. I know we're not supposed to be afraid, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't. Satan is the great deceiver and I'm a stupid person, very gullible. I hope I'm dead before the SHTF.
God is the same today as was in the old testament.
He gave his laws to guide us, teach us and to help us remember Him as our Creator.
Lucifer, the light bearer, decided to take the place of our Creator. He took one third of the angles to believe him. He also wants to claim the earth. His wants to destroy our connection to our Creator by destructing our attention, destroying the Word of God(or changing it) and through persecution of people who follows God's comment.
God says, "Keep my commandments"
Any one who teaches different is the Antichrist. Which means, only you could follow God's Word or by not following, becoming Antichrist.
Anyone who wants to follow Christ, will find opposition and persecution.
The christians were persecuted, they couldn't worship God: so many came to America. Is it possible that the Beast rising up from the Earth is America?
Do Americans have freedom today as was 100-200 years ago?
Maybe things are changing, not for better.
However our faith is in God, who gave proof of His love towards us, humans by sending his Son, Christ to us. Have faith in God and his Son, Jesus Christ.
Hebrews 5:8 Though he were a son, yet he learned obedience by the things which he SUFFERED.
We bear the same cross and walk the same path to Calvary.

Matthew 25:31-46
Proverbs 3:1-35
Isaiah 58:1-14
Jude 1:1-25
I have drawn comfort from these scriptures. Jude 1:24-25, 1 Jude 1:21,
Nahum 1:7 also in context is the bigger picture
Luke 12:32 Luke 12:1-59
1 Colossians 1:10-23
Philippians 1:6
I hope these scriptures give you a bigger picture that the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY is showing us & are encouraging to you. Many more I wanted to share but deleted & held back to not overwhelm with too much reading all at once.
God Bless
However Revelation 7:9-17 gives hope to all others
Hope that's helpful.
