Verse 19~God has not given us the right to avenge ourselves. We must leave vengeance in the hands of Jehovah God.
  • Ann Hering on Romans 12 - 6 years ago
An enemy to the Apostle Paul was an “enemy” of the cross of Christ! Those are God’s enemies, too!
  • Terry on Romans 12 - 6 years ago
This chapter really reminds us of what a true Christian should be doing. It gives me positive motivation to continue to strive to be perfect.
  • Glenda Freeman on Romans 12 - 6 years ago
We should always choose to bless as oppose to curse. Forgive as oppose to harbor hate.

"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." The Apostle says it so clearly and precisely what is commanded us, and what therefore God expects, from all who call upon the Name of Jesus Christ. There is no apology for the flesh or an undisciplined spirit and there is no talking down to us as if we were uncapable of intelligent thought. Jesus NEVER talked down to anyone, no matter how much WE might think that they couldn't understand. Jesus told a woman who had already five husbands, and was presently with a man not married, about what knowing God really was, without talking down to her or trying to simplify the truth. "But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." Speak the truth as the Spirit directs and NEVER talk down to people. God knows how to cause His Word to have effect on a man's heart!

Feed our enemies even though we know who they are, because the Lord will take vengeance
  • BSP on Romans 12 - 7 years ago
Verse 12~We must rejoice in the hope. This world is full of distress and depressing situations and topics. If we rejoice in the future hope of everlasting life and the blessings that Jehovah God will give, we can continue to endure and have real joy.
  • BSP on Romans 12 - 7 years ago
Verse 3: This is a good scripture to keep in mind with regards to having a balanced view of ourselves. We live in a self-obsessed time and we must guard against thinking more of ourselves than necessary.
  • Halieus2011 on Romans 12 - 7 years ago
I am encouraged with the writings of Paul because he was a rough character as I am and now I can be happy that there is hope for me too! Being a disciple isn’t easy and because I believe the Lord has picked me out for his gift of Salvation and eternal life I press on. I think we humans are harder on ourselves than we should be, yes sinful nature but God is faithful!

  • Wynonia on Romans 12 - 7 years ago
Verses 17-19 are speaking to things going on in my life right now. I thank God for his word. I want to retaliate, but the word of God says no, don t do that. I am compelled by the Holy Spirit to pray instead. Thank you God for taking care of me.

Peter; this is such an important thing! How "natural" it is to respond with self defense when someone says or does us wrong or unfairly (real or imagined)! But we have been given light that we are not made to act like animals, but like God: and "natural" is something that we are to keep under subjection in obedience to the Spirit of God He has put within us. May the Lord's grace prevail for us!
  • Peter A. Okebukola on Romans 12 - 7 years ago
This whole chapter provides guidelines for Christian living. Key guidelines are- Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not. Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. live peaceably with all men. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

Romans 12:4-5 4 For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: 5 So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. As brothers and sisters in Christ, we should all be like minded as Apostle Paul said, if one of us hurt, we all hurt. Jesus is the head of the Church Body, let's Love one another in Christ not in foolish words.

As long as you baptize in the name of the Father, in the name of the Son, in the name of the Holy Ghost, as Jesus, Himself, instructed us, by His very own words. Matthew 28-19.GBU
  • Irene123 on Romans 12 - 8 years ago
The Lord Jesus has His Pastors in this age of Grace. And they preach the SAME message Peter preached in Acts 2:38 - and then you follow the way to Him in the epistles the bks. after Acts .
  • Deaconess Karen Talbert on Romans 12 - 8 years ago
I think that Paul is explaining to us how we as Christian are suppose to live. Verses 17 and 21 bring back memories to me as a young child, how it was " to get even" with those who mistreated me. I was raised in the church, but also as verse 2 states " and be not confirmed to this world" I was to an extent. But praise the Lord, by His love, Grace and mercy my mind has been transformed.
  • Irene123 on Romans 12 - 8 years ago
It is a human tendency to think highly of ourselves. But we should not base our view of ourselves on our own assessment, but on the faith given by God: "For I say, through the grace given to me, for everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith," Rom. 1:3.
