"But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter." Romans 7:6 KJV

I'm free from sin and when I sow , I will reap free from sin.

What's the time line when satan was cast down from heaven?
  • Adam - In Reply on Romans 7:21 - 1 year ago
The reason a higher % of youth are deciding they're gay, trans, or whatever, is because they're psychologically groomed by motivated parents and teachers. They're pushed in that direction and rewarded if they say those magic words, and discouraged and and pressured if they're not. For example, wearing certain clothes or dressing up as a 2 year old means nothing in terms of a sexual identity. They're only two! They don't know about sex and don't care. They're kids playing. Most people don't even remember anything from that age.

Harsh judgment will come on any adults who groom their kids to think sexually or perverse or about disgusting sinful unnatural things. What we're seeing in the current evil society is people increasingly committing child abuse in the open and forcing others to accept that. People in society are even starting to push pedophilia and trying to normalize that. Obviously these sick evils are not from God, they are from satan. No, God rejects immorality of the world and so should Christians. One of satan's greatest lies is that people are born a certain way and therefore feel entitled to sin. That's really clever and a lot of people started believing it, but it's still a lie. Nowadays a child sees a colorful piece of clothing and puts it on and plays around and the parent is immediately ready to cut the child's body parts off- almost like offering their child as a sacrifice to a false god of the evil woke world. God is watching all of this evil unfold and many people will weep with regret if they keep turning from Him and following the world.

Matthew 18:6 "But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea."

Dear Rapture Man, thank you for a good response to MaxM.

Those of us who do not struggle against homosexuality like you or Max do not know how difficult to live a life where physical love and affection is off-limits due to same sex desires. This must be incredible hard to continuously repel such desires if one wants to live a godly life. It is the same for those who remain single but are hetero. They must continue to live a godly life that includes purity, chastity, and abstinence, just like those who have homosexual desires.

Those of us who are married should be careful when we try to counsel someone like MaxM. We do not know their mindset, struggles, nor the grip that homosexual desires have on a person. In your case, these desires stemmed from the long-term abuse you received throughout your childhood. You did not choose that yet even so, you are still caught in the trap of theses desires birthed from the abuse. I am sorry that you have had a lifelong struggle with this, Rapture Man.

I have three sisters who are lesbians and these desires started early in their teen lives before they really knew how to address them and overcome them. By the time they were adults they were trapped in this lifestyle. Why God allows this to happen to people at such a young age when they are not able to resist, escape abuse, or have a way to re-orient themselves is beyond me to grasp. But you are an example of one who continues to try to fight the good fight against what life has dealt to you, leaning on the strength of the Holy Spirit and the wisdom of the Word.

Thanks for sharing your story. Many of us need to hear it.

Hello, I assume you meant to reply to MaxM and not me.
  • RaptureMan2023 - In Reply on Romans 7:21 - 1 year ago
MaxM, a problem guys like you and I face is that we often reach out to Christians, hoping to find someone who will affirm our sinful inclinations or lifestyle. We're not to do that. Psalm 1:1 says, "Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly..." He is cursed if he does.

Too often, people who call themselves "Christians" are NOT Christ-followers. Many have never studied the Word of God from cover to cover, getting to know Gods heart. I have. Sadly, with love and concern, they wrongly counsel others, based upon their feelings and opinions. We must abide by God's laws, which are clearly against such practices: Leviticus 18: 20, 29; 20: 13; I Cor. 6: 9-11; Rev. 21: 27.

I've been struggling with same sex attraction for well over 50 years. I was molested from the age of 4-16; homosexuality was my mindset. I married (a smokescreen); before divorce ensued, I brought two daughters into the world. I've been a born again Christian for almost 57 years, but my struggle with this issue has been that long. Many times, I BEGGED God to take the desire from me. He hasn't; He says, "My grace is sufficient for you, just as it was with Paul."

Grace is not a license to commit sin; it is the bridge that keeps us connected to Him via obedience to Him.

So, what are we to do? Celibacy or marriage to a woman my friend. We cannot serve the flesh and Christ also; it doesn't work. See John 14: 15, 21-23. Paul said, "...It is good for them if they abide even as I" (celibate). But if they cannot control themselves, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn." I Cor. 7: 8, 9

Marriage is not for everybody; sex is, but we must control our passions ( Gal. 5: 22, 23). Is A FEW MINUTES of pleasure worth eternity in Hell? God sees our sacrifice; if we obey Him, He will reward us accordingly. Born again Christians are to "Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." Ja. 4: 7;1:12. We can't love Christ and sin too. Not much time left; choose wisely!
  • Sammi - In Reply on Romans 7:21 - 1 year ago
Please forgive my presumptuousness , you sound as if you are ready for marriage . You will only find true love with a Christian lady and I'm sure that there is one out there that is perfect for you and whom you are perfect for . May God bless you and her with the love and affection and respect of each other very soon .

    Hi MaxM,

We all have attraction to sin, because sin is very attractive and enticing. Satan helps make that happen and offers cute little lies to help deceive us into rationalizing it. It happened in the original sin and happens today. One of those clever little tricks is saying that my sin is my identity therefore its ok because I can't help it.

I'm going to take a risk here and say something disgusting to make a point. This is that part of me would love to commit a certain sin tonight, by entering a certain establishment and doing a certain activity. But God already said it's wrong and sin in black and white. I am a Christian and I also like this activity. But here's the deception: is that activity my identity? because I want it? Maybe it is, then I can't help it, maybe I was born to do it. Because it feels good, and I like or love it. And because of that, God made me that way and I can't help it. God wants me to love, right? I'm actually a victim actually. I'm only carrying out what God made me to do, right? Do you notice the pattern of rationalizations? Are these rationalizations true or a lie? I left this generic enough that this template can be applied to justify almost any disgusting sin that God hates like: adultery, prostitution, homosexuality, drugs, drunkenness, violence, murder, etc. Also: no one will know, it won't hurt anyone else, others do it too, if I don't, someone else will.

All these rationalizations are lies that people commonly do. Satan basically recycles the same temptations using the same flawed logic over and over, and we all struggle with and have temptations to sin. An opportunity presents itself and we have a choice. Are we going to follow God or not? Are we going to do good or not? Genuine Christ followers follow and obey Christ and are obviously to avoid all of these. The past can be forgiven, but we must stop it and sin no more if we are genuine about being a Christian and want hope for salvation. God bless.

    Hello MaxM.

I don't know if that was God's answer to your request, but if it was then the answer is obvious, you are in the wrong path. Homosexuality is a sin according to the Word of God, like any other sin. And if one doesn't repent and keep following a sinful life then the end is definitely not Heaven, even if that person is called (or indeed is) a christian. You said you are not a super religious christian, so are you born again? Have you been baptized in water, in Spirit? Do you attend a christian congregation? If not then start doing it. Ask Jesus to come into your heart and change it. Ask Him to free you from any kind of things that keep you imprisoned in a sinful life, some things only God can do, it is not up to our own capabilities. Look for and join a christian congregation where you can be tought the Word of God properly. And follow the narrow path(God's commandments). And remember, only the 5 wise virgins made it to the marriage, the other 5 were left out. All of them were virgins(believers) but only the ready ones, the ones that had light in their lamps(a shining life) entered Heaven. GBU
  • FredScanlan - In Reply on Romans 7:21 - 1 year ago
Without faith is is impossible to please Him. Picking a passage out of scripture and applying it is always good, except when you say there is the possibility of NO heaven. My friend heaven is all around you, the wind blows and you hear the sound, but you cannot tell where it comes and goes. Such are those who are born of the spirit!

Are you baptized into Christ? If not, repent and be Baptized
  • MaxM on Romans 7:21 - 1 year ago
I flipped to a random page in the Bible and asked God to give me some sort of sign or reassurance (I am Christian but not super religious at all and am not very educated about it) and got:

    Romans 7:19

"For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do."

It is worth mentioning that I have strong same-sex attraction, which I am not really ashamed of, just extremely worried that I will not go to Heaven, assuming there is one, because of it. If I could turn any alleged sin into a non-sin, it would absolutely be gayness. Was this chapter a sign, do you think? What exactly could this exact passage mean in my scenerio? Do you have any advice?

Dr. Lyle Lee Gbu your post is so interesting....Lemme give ya my take on the law a type of Uriah a husband to Bathsheba but Bathsheba was barren under Uriah just as Israel was barrren under the law...At Horeb Moses married Israel to the law just as Uriah was married to Bathsheba...The early Church was married to the law but she had a relationship with Christ Jesus which resulted in a Child called Christianity...Thats y Romans 7 : 4 is saying you are dead to the law ( Uriah ) by the body of Christ that you should be married to another even him that was raised from the dead Christ Jesus...Bathsheba was dead to Uriah by the body of David. Bathsheba was bathin and David was on his roof top when he took Bathsheba ,Jesus had already ascended when he took the church who was bathin in H.G.. baptism...But she had a husband which was the law.

.....Thus Bathsheba was an adultress as long as Uriah was alive...verse 3 if a woman who is married have another man she shall be called an aduleress but if her husband dies she is no more an adulteress...But the 1st Child was sick which was Christianity and died in its infancy...Bathsheba had to travail Again to get the Child of Promise which was Solomon a type of the H.G. The Comforter that is Gonna make OUR BODIES HIS TEMPLE... Thats y Jesus said a greater then Solomon is here...Thus the H.G. IS GONNA BUILD A GREATER TEMPLE THEN SOLOMON Gal 4 : 19 My lil Children of whom i travail in birth AGAIN .The Church will have to travail again to get the 2 nd Child the H.G. THE Child of PROMISE...She brought forth aman Child that is gonna RULE ALL NATIONS...Which is the H.G that CHILD OF Promise..Thats y Romans 7 : 4 is saying you are dead to the law by the body of Christ that you will bemarried to another even Christ Jesus...Just as Bathsheba was dead to Uriah by the body of David, We are dead to the law by the body of Christ thus we will marry Christ...The 1st Child died but the 2 nd Child is the Child of Promise the H.G. Emanuel GBU LYLE.

Law; we are told in verses 1-4 that the law is the Ten Commandments written in stone, this law binds a marriage until the partner dies, then in verse 4 ew are told we have become dead to the law, meaning the Ten Commandments in stone. Now in :6 we are delivered from the Ten Commandments in stone, and this law has died, again in :4 we are dead to the law, but in :6 the law is now dead. The Apostle Paul states the reason is for the Christian to obey the Ten Commandments in the heart, he calls this serving in the spirit. Notice, our human spirit obeys the Ten Commandments written in the heart, and this is called serving God. Yet we cannot serve God from the Ten Commandments written in stone, why not someone may ask, the reason is that we have died to that law, and that law has also died to us. Then in :7 he specifies the law we are delivered from in :6 and the law that is now dead in :6 is the law in :7 that teaches THOU SHALT NOT COVET.

The outward man is the flesh:

For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:

    Rom 2:28 (KJV)

But the inward man is the Spirit:

But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

    Rom 2:29 (KJV)

We perfect holiness in the fear of God (Afraid to Sin) by cleansing ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit:

Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

    2 Cor 7:1 (KJV)

This cleansing is done with washing by the word of God:

That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

    Eph 5:26 (KJV)

Man is spirit, soul and body which must be blameless when JESUS CHRIST comes back:

And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

    1 Ths 5:23 (KJV)

The Spirit of man is the Candle of the Lord, searching all the inward parts of the belly - Proverbs 20:27

The washing of the regeneration is with the renewing of the Holy Ghost - Titus 3:5

Building up your most holy faith praying in the holy ghost - Jude 1:20

This way the inward man is renewed day by day.

For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

    2 Cor 4:16 (KJV)

    JESUS CHRIST bless you.

    who is the inward man?
  • S Spencer - In Reply on Romans 7 - 2 years ago
    Hi Charles.

The conflict over Israel is not the wrong DNA.

GOD said he will make a nation out of Abraham. Genesis 12:2.

God confirmed a covenant with Abraham and his seed afterwards. Genesis 17:7.

These promises was also confirmed with Isaac and Jacob.

It's the heir of promise given to Abraham.

Down through Isaac and Jacob that is fought over.

See: Galatians 4:29-30. But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now.

Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman.

The seed that was promised to come that would bless the world is Christ.

Galatians 3:16. Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

If you study the Genealogy of Christ you will see they're Gentiles in it. Ruth being one. and also Rahab.

God sanctified Israel and gave them the seal of circumcision. "A cutting away the filt of the flesh " Gentiles was considered unclean. but if the wanted to come into the camp and remain they had to be circumcised.

Genesis 17:12. And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of thy seed.

    TODAY CIRCUMCISION AVAILETH NOTHING.

    Galatians 5:6.

    Galatians 6:15.

We become that new creature through our new birth in Christ. "Baptism of The Holyspirit ".

    God bless.

Powerful, for this cause God forbid Israel to take wives from other nation because sin is passed through are blood and multiplies from generation to generation through are flesh. God was keeping Israel pure do evil wouldn't overtake their nation like we seen happen. That why the NT says, Come out from among them (the world) and be ye separate and touch not the unclean thing, parallel we are repeating the mistakes of Israel, Todays Church is.

    Great answer GiGi!

Very insightful and gets us to take a closer look when using "Wilfully sin" when separating Christians and non Christians.
  • Gigi - In Reply on Romans 7 - 2 years ago
    Hi Virginia

I believe that everyone will continue to sin in this life, even after conversion. And I think that Christians do enough willfully. If you are a believer and you lie, that is something you choose to do willfully. If you are a believer and you have axial relations with your boyfriend/girlfriend. You choose to do so willfully. If you are a believer and you choose to gossip about someone, you choose to do so will willingly. Anytime you do something you know is wrong, you are choosing to do so willingly. And I don't really think that any believer could say that after conversion they never chose to do something they knew was wrong to do. When you choose to do what you know is wrong you are using your will to choose to do it.

Some people employ semantic gymnastics to say there is a difference between choosing to commit a sin and willful sin. But they are both the same thing.
  • Kent Bass - In Reply on Romans 7 - 2 years ago
Hi Virginia while our spirit is still inside this fleshy body we still sin by the flesh. You can sin by thought by word by deed or by the things you did not do. But the spirit within is without fault when our flesh departs our spirit goes to be at home with Yahweh Jesus and The holy Spirit
  • Virginia Freeman on Romans 7 - 2 years ago
When it says you will sin as long as you are in the flesh, does that mean before you are saved or after or both? My friend says after you're saved you won't sin every day, but I say you will sin but not willfully???

Hi Tim The commandment are the commandments given by God to Israel that's why in verse 12 the law and commandment are holy and just and still summed up in Mathew to Love God with all your heart and soul and mind and strength. We are now above the law because walking by the spirit is walking above the law by the spirit of God which fulfills the royal law in mathew.

Even a mature Christian may be inclined to do what is bad. The apostle Paul was a mature Christian but he faced this struggle. We have a war or struggle inside us as we fight against the law of sin.

  • Battleground part two - In Reply on Romans 7 - 3 years ago
Satan's objective is to keep the mind "blind" to the Gospel. Satan has a vast assortment of weapons at his disposal. Remember that Satan has 6,000 years of experience with billions of people. You will not win any battle with Satan on your own, but you can be victorious through Christ. To accomplish his task, Satan looks to our flesh, our fallen nature, to build his kingdom on our lusts and weaknesses. Fallen nature is the nature of the flesh ruling. Satan rules in this realm, he keeps those under his influence as captives.

As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the WAYS of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air ( Ephesians 2:1).

Our relationship with Jesus Christ liberates us from Satan's power. We are now a part of the Lord's army, advancing the kingdom of God on enemy territory. This does not stop Satan from trying and as such, we must remain ON GUARD. He works through lust to capture us. The word for lust in Greek is epithumia, and means desire, craving, longing, and the desire for what is forbidden. Satan pursues our fallen nature through the mind, feeding our lusts with perceptions. Satan attacks three areas of our mind. They are lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, and pride of life. For all that is in the world-the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life-is not of the Father but is of the world ( 2 John 2:16).

John 3. You must be born again to receive:

    Salvation through Jesus

Forgiveness of sins: past, present, future

Receive right standing with God the Father

Confess that the Holy Spirit is your Teacher

Tell someone that you have been born again.

Stay in 1 Corinthians until you see what is available to you, through the Holy Spirit. Ask him to Help you with fleshly passions. Rid your house of objects of temptation. Everything. Stay in the New Testament until you are stronger. Talk to Jesus 24/7 He hears you!

    Mishael
