Song of Solomon Chapter 5 Discussion

I can't give a Hebrew translation; but Jesus is the person in Song of Solomon. The woman is the Bride of Christ. It's hard to understand if a person thinks of it carnally.

All scripture is pointing to Christ and the beautiful love song written by king Solomon is no exception. It describes the Lord Jesus Christ in the most beautiful and intimate terms - He is manly and strong - He is the chiefest among ten thousand. His lips are like lilies dripping with myrrh - His mouth is sweetness itself. Jesus Christ is desirable in every way - He is altogether lovely

The truth of the good news of the Lord Jesus Christ and the many precious promised that surround the beauty of His Person - can only be described as the sweetest and most beautiful truths known to mankind. The glories of the gospel of grace from which flow love and joy and peace and hope and the salvation - and that brings with it eternal life are sweetness and light to all who believe.

Grace and truth came to us through the Lord Jesus Christ, Who is the transforming light that streams into the inner recesses of man's bitter soul - bringing new life and new hope and new joy into the inner recesses of man's spirit.

You can put the verses into google, type a comma and type Hebrew interpretation. Then you'll have to find a website that is Jewish.

For me, first I had to leave my carnal mind at the door, and open it to the spiritual; by asking My Teacher, the Holy Spirit to reveal Jesus to me. He indwells us and He is the Spirit of Jesus. This is part of His ministry to believers.

For me, the greatest acceptance and love is in the strength of the statement: I AM my beloveds, and My Beloved is MINE.

I am not struggling all alone. I belong to My Savior.

Could you provide me with the Hebrew transliteration of Song of Solomon Ch 5 V 16? I was listening to it the other day and I did not hear the words that are presented here as translation.

Who is chapter 5 talking about in such praise as is apparent in verses 9 - 16?

    Best regards,

    Dr. Ir. James Hops
  • CIRCUMCISION IS NOW IN THE HEART - In Reply on Song of Solomon 5 - 4 years ago
Comment by Mishael: In the Bible circumcision was the sign of being in covenant with God. In the New Testament Paul had to teach that circumcision was now in the heart. (Stoned many times for that). A new and better Covenant was secured by Jesus on the Cross; ratified by His own blood.

NOTE: Women are to be circumcised in the heart too. Salvation is a decision of the heart. Coming to Christ for Salvation, circumcises your heart and you are in covenant with God. Blameless.

    OLD TESTAMENT

    Genesis 17:10

This is my COVENANT which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised.

    Genesis 17:11

And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the COVENANT betwixt me and you.

    Genesis 17:12

And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of thy seed.

    Genesis 17:13

He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.

    Deuteronomy 10:16

Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your HEART and be no more stiffnecked.

    NEW TESTAMENT

    Acts 7:51

Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in HEART AND EARS, you do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do you (now).

There are seven references to "roe" in the Songs & all refer to the animal - nothing to do with the fish. A dictionary defines the roe as also being: "A small Eurasian deer which lacks a visible tail and has a reddish summer coat that turns greyish in winter." There are other Old Testament portions that speak of a wild roe & the roebuck. And Songs 8:14 speak of the "roe or young hart", indicating that an animal is spoken of in this Book & I would suggest in all other appearances of the word in the Scriptures.

So when Solomon says "roe" in Song of Solomon... I'm having a difficult time discerning whether he is referring to fish testicles or a southeastern deer. I have prayed for clarity but have not received much yet. Can you help me? I know the israelites were fishermen and they didnt really go to southeast asia for hunting so. fish testicles makes more sense. thank you.

the bride was too much into comforts of the body, warmth, sleep,dreaming...total comfort.

She hesitated too long weighing the choice.Would she answer the call of her beloved, or to stay in the place of fleshly comfort.

The Holy Spirit being so sensitive, understood her longing and desire to be with Him, did not at all match the intense love He felt for her, so He left alone.

How many times have we chosen sleep and slumber when He called us at an convenient time.

Matthew 28 this will be in the millennium period

19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

1 Corinthians 1:17 Paul came not to baptize

"For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect."

    Paul's gospel

    3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Peter preached the death of Christ as a murder indictment against Israel

    Acts 3

    14 But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you;

15 And killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead;....

Acts 3:19 (May be blotted out?) Different from Paul

"Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out,

    Mat 15:24

"But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel."

Matthew 15:27 (she was blessed recognizing Israel's program)

"And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table."

    Rom11:11

"I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles,..."

    Eph 2

12 That at that time ye were without Christ, ....and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:

13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

    2 Cor 5:16

"Wherefore...: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more."

    Eph3:2 (givenPaul ( 1 Cor 15 v1-4) not Peter

"If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward

Gal 2v7 two gospels (uncir Paul circum Peter)

In Injil-e-muqaddas, we see the words of Jesus in John chap 3: For God so loved the world (ALL peoples of ALL nations He made), that He gave His only begotten Son (His Word = 'Kalimat-ullah' sent to this Earth & clothed in the form of man) see John 1:1-14; that whosoever believeth on Him should not perish, but have everlasting life".(v16). "Jesus came unto His own (the Jews), & His own received Him not (rejected & crucified Him). But as many as received Him (believe & accept His sacrifice by faith), to them gave He power (the right, privilege) to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His Name" ( John 1:11,12). Yes, Jesus came for the Jews, but His love extends to you & me also.

If you do not obey 2 Timothy 2 verse 15 you will have difficulty understanding. Gentles would have been blessed through Israel's promises. Israel promises were interrupted and they were put on hold. Jesus was a minister to the circum ( Romans 15 v 8). Saul of tarsus was saved which was a mystery hid in God. Study Roman 11 and Eph chapters 2 and 3. Read these chapters overandover again. Paul is the apostle to the Gentles (Jew and Gentles are saved by 1 Cor. 15 1-4 now. The Gospel of Paul was different than Peter's Gospel. Peter preached the Gospel of the circum and Paul preached the gospel of the uncircumc. Believe 1Cor 15 v 1-4.Peter never preached 1 Cor 15 1-4

Hello Abubakar, that's a good question. While Jesus had his chosen people of Israel he spent most of his time with, Jesus came to Earth and died on the cross to save all people. Jesus said to teach 'all nations' Matthew 28:19, to 'all the world' Matthew 24:14, and was given first to the Jews then to Greeks (meaning others): Romans 1:16. Jesus couldn't be everywhere at once so he chose a certain place and people to focus his ministry on, but it's for everyone in the world. He has a heart for everyone- remember Jesus's story of the good Samaritan about being a good neighbor to everyone: Luke 10:25-37

Good day to you, my name is abubakar and I'm a muslim from Nigeria
My question is that why is it that whenever Jesus Christ (pbuh) is addressing his people he'll rightly say o people of Israel, does this mean that he was only sent for the Israel or for the whole of humanity like the christian claimly said. Thank you.

This chapter accurately represents the relationship many have with God. He calls for us to open the door, but we do not answer. It might be due to laziness or spite, but we leave the door closed. But when He leaves, we seek him out and He may or may not come back. Have we ever closed the door on Him? And how willing are we to seek Him back?
  • THOMAS on Song of Solomon 5 - 9 years ago
The song of Solomon is not an allegory of Christ and his church It is about godly courtship and chastity before marriage. I can see where the church Fathers would try to place Christ in this book but it just does not fit.
  • Insight 777 on Song of Solomon 5 - 9 years ago
There is symbolism in the song of Solomon but what is flattered, courted and desired is made clear in verses 15 and 16. The object of desire is Lebanon. Jerusalem needs Lebanon as an ally. Verse 7 speaks of violence. Israel needs control or alliance with Lebanon for self defense. The walls are the borders and the veil is what one has for protection. The Israeli and Lebanese border is volatile. Currently, Israel has attacked Hezbollah in Syria and this border between Lebanon and Israel is on alert. Israel has made airstrikes over the past 2 years targeting shipments of advanced weapons from Syria to Hezbollah in Lebanon. Israel needs the friendship of Lebanon to fight Hezbollah.

I in Song of Solomon chapter 5. What is the name of the woman there in this chapter and where do we find Jesus in it?
  • Lea on Song of Solomon 5 - 10 years ago
A beautiful chapter. The first part is kind of sad, like the daily struggles we may have in being obedient to the Lord because of our human nature, ever find yourself guilty of feeling that what God has asked you to do is an inconvenience instead of jumping for joy that he is calling to you, wanting to be near you, have fellowship with you? Ah.. good ole human nature gets in the way, but later the bride recognizes that she has neglected the bride groom. This whole chapter is such a beautiful picture of the relationship of the bride and bridegroom. So they ask her, "what is your beloved or how is he any greater than another? " and then the verses that describe him.. He is white and ruddy purity. His head fine gold Godly thoughts, pure thoughts and the head that bore the crown of thorns. Eyes of a dove, "He beheld them as sheep with no shepherd " tender eyes full of mercy. Cheeks of spices. Jesus was smitten on the cheek and he retaliated with kindness and mercy. His hands with rings.. Back in the day the rings that sealed documents or the giving of life to someone or their death sentence was the signet ring.. The ring was to attest the authority of its bearer. This is our King and we understand that he will be just and fair and kind. His mouth, "Does a fountain send forth at the same time sweet and bitter water " Jesus was certainly never so wishy washy because he was so completely full of the spirit. It 's a perfect image of our Savior and its easy to see why he is so far above anything or anyone else to us

The 'watch men' and 'keepers of the wall' in our western culture would be our politicians and parliamentarians. They are effectively taking away the veil of the believers. They have taken for themselves and our culture have charged them with the responsibily of protection and security. They not only have failed. They are actively removing the veil from the Church and all believers. They have failed all in our society.

I think it's a very powerful scripture. This is the part that got me to start thinking outside the box. "Now, listen very carefully, when the saved person backslides then all hell breaks loose." On a spiritual note, that is very true, because it's then the devil taunts you and brings all sorts of obsticles in you way!
"The 'watchmen' readily embrace the backslider and encourages him/her to sink deeper into sin than before." That's how bad company usually do, especially if they see that your heading the right way and they're not! "If you were into drugs before the 'watchmen' buy you more and more drugs and even introduce you to harder ones.If you were into fornication they encourage you even more. They encourage you to sleep around and to marry more wives for sexual pleasure. If you were into alcohol they invite you to more and more parties. This is how the 'watchmen' kill you both physically and spiritually.
This happens because you would have taken away God's protection.Just like if you throw away your umbrella in rain you surely get wet.So my dear ones, this verse is much more loaded than your precious time will allow me to elucidate."
This is a very outstanding scripture that soloman could have ever written that speaks to the soul.

"In verse 9 these daughters of Jerusalem ask those who backslide what is so special about your Beloved, there are so many women out there..

That's a very intriguing question to ask and answer is this... With my beloved and why He is so special is that He is my comforter when I'm down and out, He inspires me, He helps me to press on even when I DONT see the end of the staircase, He helps me to be a better person each day, He LOVES me for ME, He says I am fearfully and wonderfully made, most importantly HE is my friend all the way and the most important being in my life... even though I am struggling to see my way through, even though it may seems or feels as if He's not around sometimes and even though their are many out there theirs is just 1 savior for me and that's JESUS!!!!! I LOVE U to death Lord!

The Song of Solomon is one of the most mysterious books of the Holy Bible. The book is enigmatic.

Only God can guide you through the scriptures. This is the TRUTH.

If you unravel the mystery of this book you will end up with volumes and volumes of manuscripts.

Remember King Solomon received wisdom from God and to understand his writings you first have to pray to God to give you wisdom and guidance.

The book is full of prophecies for the future.
The book is full of wise teachings.
The book reveals God's infinite LOVE for people.
The book reveals God's infinite Mercy for people.
The book shows us that there is but only one God.
The book warns us against false religions.
The book tells us to be steadfast in following Jesus Christ, the Messiah.
The book tells us there is no other prophet or messenger of God we should embrace except Jesus Christ, the Messiah in order for us to receive Salvation.
The book tells us to love and help fellow human beings.
The book tells us to be humble and not to look down upon other human beings.
The book teaches us not to base our life on material wealth but to steadfastly onto the Word of God.
The book teaches us to be tolerant and patient.
The book teaches on non violence.
Above all the book teaches about LOVE for Jesus Christ, the Messiah and LOVE for fellow human beings.
The book instructs us step by step on the procedure we should adopt in order to receive our Salvation. How wonderful?

May God All Mighty in his infinite mercy and wisdom allow all brothers and sisters to receive the scriptures, the Word of God with understanding.

    May God bless you all.

    Amen!

    1. Verses 1 to 6 provide us with a testimony of how some people find themselves too comfortable and too wealthy and too busy that they do not see why they should worship God.
Although many opportunities present themselves to them to accept Jesus Christ as their Saviour, they feel uncomfortable and embarassed in their social circles to accept Jesus Christ in their lives.

    2. Later on in life when they find themselves in trouble or in a crisis they try to turn to Jesus Christ but they fail to connect to him because of their sinful and selfish intentions. No matter how hard they try the spirit of sin flowing in their blood blocks them from receiving Jesus Christ, the Messiah.

    3.Verse 7 is quite interesting.Listen carefully.
The watchmen are people who saveguard the interests of earthly sinful beings. These are 'worldly people'.The self righteous. Those who are wise in their own eyes and are more concerned with worldly affairs than worshipping God and living in righteousness.

    Note: Song of Solomon 3:3.
At first the watchmen see a sinner looking for Jesus Christ and they tell the sinner they have never seen him.
The sinner finds Jesus Christ just soon afterwards and they do not have the power to stop the sinner from accepting Jesus Christ. One thing to note here is that the 'watchmen will never and cannot lead you to Jesus Christ, the Messiah.

Now, listen very carefully, when the saved person backslides then all hell breaks loose.
The 'watchmen' readily embrace the backslider and encourages him/her to sink deeper into sin than before. If you were into drugs before the 'watchmen' buy you more and more drugs and even introduce you to harder ones.If you were into fornication they encourage you even more. They encourage you to sleep around and to marry more wives for sexual pleasure. If you were into alcohol they invite you to more and more parties. This is how the 'watchmen' kill you both physically and spiritually.
This happens because you would have taken away God's protection.Just like if you throw away your umbrella in rain you surely get wet.So my dear ones, this verse is much more loaded than your precious time will allow me to elucidate.

Just imagine the progical son in Luke 15:11-32 deciding to leave his father for the second time.

4.Verses 8 and 9 talk of the daughters of Jerusalem.Who are the daughters of Jerusalem? These are people who persue and seek worldly power, wealth, influence, fame and personal pleaure. They are spiritually bankrupt and they lack righteousness. They detruct people from worshipping God.They detract people from following Jesus Christ, the Messiah. They enslave people through fornication, sex, alcohol, drugs, tobacco, gambling, entertainment, divination, witchcraft, fortunetelling, magic, false, religion, politics, cults, sorcery, astrology, observing times, formenting wars for business, spreading of deadly diseases for money, fake researches, misinformation, you name it.

In verse 9 these daughters of Jerusalem ask those who backslide what is so special about your Beloved, there are so many women out there.

This happens when someone tells you there is nothing special about Jesus Christ, the Messiah.Someone will tell you there are many prophets or many religions out there so why do you have to seek only Jesus Christ, the Messiah?

5.Verses 10 to 16 gives an explanation of why the Word of God, Jesus Christ, the Messiah is far much superior than any other doctrine or prophet ever sent from God.These verses show us that there is none on earth like Jesus Christ, the Messiah and people can and will only get salvation through accepting Jesus Christ as the Messiah and as their Saviour.

    6. My humble question to my Moslem brothers and sisters all over the world.

If Song of Solomon 5:16 refers to prophet Muhammad (pbuh) do you then take the Holy Bible as the true word of God?
Do we cherry pick verses in the Bible for our convenience?
    You have two choices.
1.Either you accept the Bible as the word of God and follow what it says.or
2.You disregard the Bible totally and do not quote any verse in the Bible to support your religion.Because in your eyes the Bible is not authentic.

Glory be to God All Mighty. The Creator of the heavens and earth. The God of Abraham. The God of Israel. The One and Only. The Alpha and the Omega.
The Creator of everything that was, that is, and that will ever be.

Peace and Love and Mercy of God be upon us.
  • Nevermore Mazongo on Song of Solomon 5 - 12 years ago
If a description translates to a name that does not mean that description was referring to that particlar person. For example if you decide to name your child "Prophet" it does not mean that everytime you come across the word prophet you then conclude the verse is referring to your child.

I hope God reveals the truth to all mankind in LOVE and LIGHT.

the word "altogther lovely means in hebrew "MUHAMMAD IM"
IM is the plural of respect in hebrew....

    "he is altogther lovely"
    who is he here???
he is none other than MUHAMMAD pbuh because in the hebrew language it reads....
hikkum mamittakim li kullo MUHAMMAD IM zehraiyee le zehbideee bayna jerushaleem...
the word comes here is muhammad im im im....
im is the plural of respect in hebrew language.....
so that means MUHAMMAD IS THE LAST AND FINALS MESSENGER AND WHOSOEVER BELIEVES IN BIBLE MUST BELIEVE MUHAMMAD pbuh AS A MESSENGER OF GOD....
because ITS MENTIONED WITH NAME IN THE HEBREW LANGUAGE!!!!
