1 Ham, 2nd son of Noah Genesis 5:32; 6:10; 7:13; 9:18 (twice in verse); 1 Chronicles 1:4; called father of Canaan Genesis 9:22 and of various peoples 10:1, 6, 20; 1 Chronicles 1:8, compare שָׁם הַיּשְׁבִים מִןחָֿם 4:40; these peoples were inhabitants of southern lands, or related historically or politically to such inhabitants; see מּוּט מִצְרַיִם, כְּנַעַן, כּוּשׁ,, etc.
