Psalm 6:5 For in death there is no remembrance of You In the grave who will give You thanks? Ecclesiastes 9:10 Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going. Isaiah 38:18 For Sheol the grave cannot thank You, Death cannot praise You Those who go down to the pit cannot hope for Your truth. Psalm 115:17 The dead do not praise the LORD, Nor any who go down into silence. Why do Christians not believe these clear scriptures, which categorically disprove the doctrine of the immortal soul? Notice, the Bible says that when a person dies his memory ceases, he cannot praise God and he has no knowledge or wisdom. In other words, the soul of a person without a body is not conscious. The concept of the immortal soul was the result of pagan beliefs developed by Greek poets and philosophers. The Greek philosopher Plato fully developed the concept of the immortal soul, and this belief infiltrated the Roman Catholic Church and subsequently the Protestant churches. The Bible teaches resurrection, which is a rising from the dead. This is in direct opposition to the pagan belief in an immortal soul. Resurrection is the glorious central truth of the Bible. The Bible says that Jesus Christ earned resurrection immortal life for each and every person through His death on the cross and His resurrection from the dead.

My mother passed away a few months ago and everyone keeps saying they have dreams about her saying that she's OK I was just wondering do dead people come to you in your dreams. I was told to read Acts 2:17 to get some type of understanding . I'm still confuse
  • Marvin on Acts 2 - 9 years ago
To get a better understanding of the Kingdom of Heaven and the Kingdom of God the Apostle Paul shed a better light on it by reading First Corinthians Chapter 15 verses 22 thru 28. That, at my understanding is at the end of the 1000 year reign of Christ's rule when Satan is destroyed and there will be no more death.
  • Marvin on Acts 2 - 9 years ago
John The Baptist first preached the kingdom of Heaven was at hand first Matt. Ch. 3 v.2 . After John degreed Jesus Christ Himself preached the same message by which meaning the king Christ was coming to offer his kingdom on earth to Israel only at that time Matt. Ch. 4 V. 17. for proof and read Matt. Ch. 10 V.5. Then after the Nation of Israel rejected Christ as their messiah the Jews had Christ Crucified He resurrected after 3 days and was seen of more than 500 witnesses 40 days later at the day of Pentecost Acts 2:38, Peter was preaching the same message to Israel now in the Name of Jesus Christ then 3000 and another 5000 believed in Christ as the Messiah. This is the reason these Jews sold their possessions and gave it to the poor thinking Christ was coming back to sit up his Kingdom. Because if you read Acts Ch. 3 verses 19 thru 21 He would have came back 2000 years ago.

  • Marvin on Acts 2 - 9 years ago
May God help them brother Jacob, they can't understand the Apostle Paul was given the Gospel of Grace, Ephesians Chapter 3 v.2. The Gospel for Gentiles and Jews is in First Corinthians Chapter 15 verses 1 thru 4 for today.
  • Neighbor on Acts 2 - 9 years ago
Hi everyone I pray that God will bless you all abundantly with the only saving gospel which is Repentance, Baptism in Jesus Name and receive the Holy Ghost which was spoken of in Acts 2:37-47 by the very apostle Peter that Jesus gave the keys to the kingdom of heaven too. Hallelujah it works... Read it in Matthew 16:18-19 it won't hurt to ask God on your own free time on your knee's asking if this is real ? To fill you with the Holy Ghost, I promise you all it's THE REAL THING.... God Bless
  • Deborah chayahist on Acts 2 - 9 years ago
Acts 2 shows us the power of unity also "they where in one accord" when we are in one accord anything is possible,we see how powerful oneness is,also, in the old testament when the people of babylon decided to build the tallest and greatest tower until God broke that oneness by giving them different languages so that they would not understand each other, one shall chase a thousand but two ten thousand, when we choose to be in one accord as believers with no envy malice jealousy and the like whatever we want we already have for where we are in unity God himself cammands a blessing.
  • Jonathan on Acts 2 - 9 years ago
Acts 2:38 is the plan of Salvation. As stated by Jesus in John 3:5 also Luke 24:47 and Matt 28:19. Jesus said in "His Name" not in the title, the trinity concept, formula was formed by the nicea council and the catholic church. Only when the Name of Jesus is applied is there remission of sins. The power is in the Blood of Jesus. The trinity doctrine was created as a way to unite all religions, and those who rejected it were put to death. Nobody in the Early Church ever applied the titles at baptism, they applied the Name of Jesus. The Name of the Son is not son. The Name of Jesus is no father. The Name of Jesus is Jesus. The Name of the son is Jesus. At the Name of Jesus shall every knee bow. Not titles. Baptism only saves when the Name of Jesus is applied. Otherwise you only get wet. All through the book of Acts they either Baptized in the Name of the Lord or in the Name of the Lord Jesus or Lord Jesus Christ. John 8:24-27 'He spoke of the father. John 1:1-14 Jesus is God manifested in the flesh. Emmanuel God with us. Deut 6:4 One God. Not A Trinity. Ephes 4:5 One Lord One Faith One Baptism.

They were rebaptized because they hadn 't even heard of the Holy Ghost in verse 2. John 's baptism was the baptism of repentance verse 4, just like Peter 's baptism of repentance in Acts 2:38. When you see that they didn 't have the Pauline epistles and it was a Jewish faith being preached it will help you. The whole chapter 2 is to Jews verse 5,14,22,36. Simon Peter was offering them the Kingdom and if they as a nation would have repented Jesus Christ would have came back Acts 3:19-20. Stephen was preaching to the nation and Jesus Christ went from His seated position Mark 16:19 to standing in Acts 7:55 ready to come back. This did not take Him by surprise but it was a legitimate offer and the gospel of the kingdom of heaven was preached to the Jews first Rom 1:16 and then with the salvation of Paul the apostle to the Gentiles came the Gospel of the Grace of God. Romans 1:17 says it went from FAITH to FAITH. Galatians 3:23 But before faith came, THIS IS THE FAITH OF JESUS CHRIST BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. The faith afterwards revealed was revealed to Paul read Ephesians 3. Acts 2:38 is a false gospel. Read Acts 15. Peter never preached it again and we are saved today by grace through faith without works Romans 4:5.
  • Jerry Leonard on Acts 2 - 9 years ago
I 'd like to say about the comments on the book of Acts and its transitioning out to dispensation of Grace given to the Apostle Paul up to about Acts Chapter 15. All of Brother Jacob 's comments is laid out in detail and is right on. This is why we have all these denominations today. I know I was dumbfounded for 23 years.
  • Noel Austine on Acts 2:22 - 9 years ago
He is a man under authority, He does only what He sees His father do what heaven has approved because He is a man who is approved by God when you are committed to doing what God approves, you always achieve maximum miraculous results.
  • Jacob on Acts 2 - 9 years ago
If Acts 2 is doctrinally to you today and not for Jews then please do follow these verses too. Acts 2:44-45 And all that believed were together, and had all things common And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. Will you please do that? That 's what the Bible instructs you to do. The Church age was not revealed at this time Eph 3 and the Pauline epistles hadn 't been written yet. This Acts 2 is a Jewish faith Rom 1:16-17 . Yes they were added to the church but Acts is transitional. They are not added that way now. There are four different ways the Holy Spirit is received in Acts alone. But Paul our Apostle Rom 11:13 says its by Grace through faith ALONE. Once the kingdom is rejected with the stoning of Stephen Paul the apostle to the gentiles is saved and the transition from Jew to Gentile begins and by Acts 15 everyone agrees by faith alone. Relief is being sent to the Jews who obeyed Acts 2:44-45. See Acts 11:27-30, Rom 15:26, 1 Cor 16:1-3 .
  • Steven on Acts 2 - 9 years ago
I plainly say just read it and do what it instructs you to do. The book of acts was before all the denominations of Christianity that is now in the world. There was just Christians before man tried to perfect God and his Word. HE really doesn 't need our help. HIS WAYS are above our ways. God Bless all of you.
  • Betty Mccormack on Acts 2:17 - 9 years ago
Some, including me have thought that the people that are saying Christ is talking to them are saying they are false prophets. In Acts it clearly states that in the end of days our sons and daughters will prophesied. I have prayed for God to show me false prophets. I believe he just answered my prsyer in this verse
  • Jacob on Acts 2 - 9 years ago
The reason that Jesus said if you have seen me you have seen the father is: Hebrews 1:3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person. This text is speaking of The Lord Jesus Christ. He is not the Father. He says in John 10:30 I and my Father are one. But this doesn 't He is the Father. They are one in unity just as the believers are one in Him. We are one with each other but are not the same as each other and are not Him. John 17:11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that THEY MAY BE ONE, as WE are. Jesus is the image of God so He said John 12:45 And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me. They couldn 't see the Father without Jesus because he declared Him or made Him known. John 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. If there is no Godhead who were they seeing in the Old Testament? Exodus 6:2-3 And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am the LORD: And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty. If they were seeing God Almighty but it wasn 't the Father who was it? Hint. The preincarnate Christ.

Clearly the water is physical birth. That which is flesh is flesh. Flesh is physical and it is associated with water. We say, her water broke. Spirit is obviously the new birth. This is a good verse for the oneness to explain. Genesis 19:24 Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven Strange verse if there is no Godhead. What aboutGenesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: The angles sure didn 't help Him considering Isaiah 44:24 I am the LORD that maketh all things that stretcheth forth the heavens alone that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself. What aboutGe 3:22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us. Who is us? Hosea 12:4 Yea, he had power over the angel, and prevailed: he wept, and made supplication unto him: he found him in Bethel, and there he spake with us Who is the US in this verse? The Bible tells you. Hosea 12:5 Even the LORD God of hosts the LORD is his memorial.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the word, and the word was WITH God, and the word "WAS God ". John 1:14 The word was made flesh jesus now and dwelt among us. This says God was made flesh and dwelt among us as Jesus Christ. Lets try basic algebra. N name N father N son N HG If N 1 then N has to equal all of them. Name is singular. The name of the son is Jesus Christ we know for sure so there for the name of all is Jesus Christ English: A Euliptical clause is the scripture of in the name of the father, the son, and the holy ghost. Peter said My Lord and my God. Jesus said if you have seen me you have seen the father.
  • Jacob on Acts 2 - 9 years ago
If there is no Trinity or One God manifested in three persons, the Bible is wrong. 1 Thessalonians 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The above verse states that man is a trinity consisting of three parts in one. Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him male and female created he them. This verse states that God created man in His image. Now God must be a tripartite God or the Bible is wrong. You know the Bible is true. Another thing. John 8:16-17 And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me. It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true. THE TESTIMONY OF TWO. Now either the Father and the Son are two or The Lord Jesus just lied. John 8:54 Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me of whom ye say, that he is your God: It 's One God in three persons. God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Ghost. All three One and all three God but separate. It 's the mystery of Godliness. 2 Corinthians 13:14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.

care of my brother STEPHEN HOOPERS The reason people do not like Acts 2:38,is it donot agree with the doctrine of the Trinity. There is no record of water baptism in the titles or trinity in the word of God.After Jesus rose from the dead,he spoke to the Apostles for forty days,he told them to baptize in the father, and the son,and the holy ghost. The apostles went forth and baptized in the name of jesus.Either jesus is the name of the father, and of the son,and of the holy ghost,or the apostles did not obey what jesus commanded them to do.I believe the apostles were right, they were guided by the holy spirit.I thank God for this truth.God bless apostles Knew THE NAME of this FATHER,SON,HOLY GHOST its not "baptize in the father, and the son and the holy ghost " it should be Baptizing them " "IN THE NAME " " ' singular this is you pastor brother mentor what is you name Stephen Hoopers mathew 28:19 go ye therefore, and teach all nations, Baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost NAME is singular baptizing them " "INTHE NAME " " " "who 's name? " of the FATHER of course who is that Father is the FATHER is a name or a tittle and of the " SON " is the SON is name or a tittle and of the "HOLY GHOST " is the HOLY GHOST is a name or tittle Acts 2:38 then peter said unto them, repent, and be baptized every one of you IN THE NAME of JESUS CHRIST for the remission of sins, and ye SHALL received the gift of HOLY GHOST.

Jesus himself is a perfect obedience to our Holy Father, therefore we must also have obedience to Jesus Christ by following his words. We must not a believers only but we must be also a DOERS in Christ. Our Heavenly Father use John the Baptist in preparation of the coming of Jesus. Even Jesus was baptized by John as his obedience to the Father. He came to fullfill the Scriptures, We must be Born Again in Spirit in order for us to understand his words as God will give us the power of understanding and wisdom. We must walk with Faith and not by Sight. Desciples are the witness from the Life of Jesus and his teaching and blessing, they are also the witness of Jesus Cruxifixion and his Resurrection. Signs, Wonders and Miracles are given into Jesus hands, Jesus used and have commanded all of the desciples to continue and preaching the word of God as Jesus promised that he will never ever leave us nor forsake us. Thanks to Jesus for his precious blood that shed for us. Amen
