This message is for Tammi. Hi this is my first time on this or any message board but the pureness of your question struck me. Read 1Cor.12 n 1Cor.14. They should answer your question. Be blessed.

In the name of Jesus Christ receive the Holy Ghost.................please don't loose your souls it will not hurt you to take the time and talk to Jesus on your knees privately just try it instead of arguments, get real with him from a sincere heart anybody would rather be safe than sorry................. Acts 7:51 Read whole chapter Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye. Romans 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

Please give us the Scripture where we are commanded to ask God to fill us with the holy spirit the evidence of which is speaking in tongues. Tongues are for a sign 1 Cor 1:22. The Jews REQUIRE a sign 1 14:22. Every time tongues or languages were spoken Acts 2,10,19 Jews were present. They didn't believe the Gentiles could be saved. Acts 10:45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. Peter was preaching the gospel of the Kingdom in Acts 2 to Jews see verse 2,14,22,36. They were waiting for Jesus to come back Acts 3:19-21! The kingdom was turned down with the stoning of Stephen. Notice Jesus was standing in verse 55. They rejected the Holy Ghost and Jesus saved Paul and told him to go to the Gentiles and revealed to him the mysteries that Peter wasn't aware of in Chapter 2. They get straight by chapter 15. Our church age doctrine is the Pauline epistles. We are saved by grace through faith without works Romans 4:5, Eph 2:8-9. Also if water baptism is a command, which it is, are unborn children obeying commands or is it a born again believer obeying a command to be water baptized?
  • Tami on Acts 2 - 10 years ago
I was reading it to get clarity on if you can receive the Holy Ghost without speaking in tongues
  • Paul on Acts 2 - 10 years ago
Baptism is not a work but an act of obedience. We certainly have been commanded to be baptized by full immersion in water when we are old enough to understand why we are doing it. We must ask God to fill us with the holy spirit the evidence of which is speaking in tongues.

Oneness Theology teaches that God was in the mode of the Father in the O.T. God was seen in the O.T. not as a dream or a vision or an angel in the following verses Ex 6:2-3, Gen 19:24, Num 12:6-8 But Jesus said no non has seen the Father in John 6:46. If they were seeing God Almighty Ex 6:2-3 but it wasn't the Father who was it? John 8:58.

Firstly, Mark 16:16 clearly says: 'He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved but he that believeth not shall be damned'. So belief and baptism are imperative to salvation. Secondly, only Jesus Christ has ascended to heaven as verses 31 - 33 explains. 31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption. 32 This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses. 33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear. Only Jesus, you may ask, because as Peter states in verse 34 of this chapter of Acts 2: 'For David is not ascended into the heavens'. This is King David, whom God described as a man after His own heart. Resurrection to Judgement and then immortality is the scripturally defined process of salvation, based on a believers belief and baptism, not a free entrance with no obligation of change on a person's part into heaven. Regards Ian

Thank the Lord we have Scripture to go by. Romans 4:5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. "Let God be true, but every man a liar as it is written."
  • JB on Acts 2 - 10 years ago
Neither baptism alone nor faith alone saves, it is complete obedience to God s plan!
  • Nita on Acts 2 - 10 years ago
Hi Jess's out of your sincere heart keep seeking the word of God for yourself and you will find that every word of God is true and yes you must be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ as in Acts Chap.19 as some speak against as the people did in verse 9 in this chap.but study the word for yourself cause people will deceive you cause of the lack of knowledge. I'm speaking to you about this because of my own experience I came thru 4 different religious groups that never made a difference in my life and I'm not talking against anyone but this is my personal testimony when I got baptized in the wonderful name of JESUS.. I have never been that same person and you will feel a load lift up off you and be very eager to tell everyone you see I'm so excited that you are looking for answers just keep reading the word of God and you will find him. Read Isaiah 45:21-23, where every knee shall bow.. Philippians 2:10 God Bless You.
  • Jacob on Acts 2 - 10 years ago
If you are saved, you don't have to be rebaptized. If you are trusting your water baptism to get you to heaven then believe the gospel in 1 Cor 15:1-4 and trust Jesus Christ to save you then get Gentile water baptism Matthew 28:19. Water baptism doesn't save. Believing the gospel which is the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ and trusting His shed blood to get you to heaven is what saves. 1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:

My brother tells me that I must repent and be baptised, I am already baptised, must it be done repeatedly?, or, since I was a baby the first time, or should I do it again as an adult?.
  • Sean on Acts 2 - 10 years ago
Psalm 6:5 For in death there is no remembrance of You In the grave who will give You thanks? Ecclesiastes 9:10 Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going. Isaiah 38:18 For Sheol the grave cannot thank You, Death cannot praise You Those who go down to the pit cannot hope for Your truth. Psalm 115:17 The dead do not praise the LORD, Nor any who go down into silence. Why do Christians not believe these clear scriptures, which categorically disprove the doctrine of the immortal soul? Notice, the Bible says that when a person dies his memory ceases, he cannot praise God and he has no knowledge or wisdom. In other words, the soul of a person without a body is not conscious. The concept of the immortal soul was the result of pagan beliefs developed by Greek poets and philosophers. The Greek philosopher Plato fully developed the concept of the immortal soul, and this belief infiltrated the Roman Catholic Church and subsequently the Protestant churches. The Bible teaches resurrection, which is a rising from the dead. This is in direct opposition to the pagan belief in an immortal soul. Resurrection is the glorious central truth of the Bible. The Bible says that Jesus Christ earned resurrection immortal life for each and every person through His death on the cross and His resurrection from the dead.

My mother passed away a few months ago and everyone keeps saying they have dreams about her saying that she's OK I was just wondering do dead people come to you in your dreams. I was told to read Acts 2:17 to get some type of understanding . I'm still confuse
  • Marvin on Acts 2 - 10 years ago
To get a better understanding of the Kingdom of Heaven and the Kingdom of God the Apostle Paul shed a better light on it by reading First Corinthians Chapter 15 verses 22 thru 28. That, at my understanding is at the end of the 1000 year reign of Christ's rule when Satan is destroyed and there will be no more death.
  • Marvin on Acts 2 - 10 years ago
John The Baptist first preached the kingdom of Heaven was at hand first Matt. Ch. 3 v.2 . After John degreed Jesus Christ Himself preached the same message by which meaning the king Christ was coming to offer his kingdom on earth to Israel only at that time Matt. Ch. 4 V. 17. for proof and read Matt. Ch. 10 V.5. Then after the Nation of Israel rejected Christ as their messiah the Jews had Christ Crucified He resurrected after 3 days and was seen of more than 500 witnesses 40 days later at the day of Pentecost Acts 2:38, Peter was preaching the same message to Israel now in the Name of Jesus Christ then 3000 and another 5000 believed in Christ as the Messiah. This is the reason these Jews sold their possessions and gave it to the poor thinking Christ was coming back to sit up his Kingdom. Because if you read Acts Ch. 3 verses 19 thru 21 He would have came back 2000 years ago.

May God help them brother Jacob, they can't understand the Apostle Paul was given the Gospel of Grace, Ephesians Chapter 3 v.2. The Gospel for Gentiles and Jews is in First Corinthians Chapter 15 verses 1 thru 4 for today.

To fill you with the Holy Ghost, I promise you all it's THE REAL THING.... God Bless

Acts 2 shows us the power of unity also "they where in one accord" when we are in one accord anything is possible,we see how powerful oneness is,also, in the old testament when the people of babylon decided to build the tallest and greatest tower until God broke that oneness by giving them different languages so that they would not understand each other, one shall chase a thousand but two ten thousand, when we choose to be in one accord as believers with no envy malice jealousy and the like whatever we want we already have for where we are in unity God himself cammands a blessing.
  • Jonathan on Acts 2 - 10 years ago
Acts 2:38 is the plan of Salvation. As stated by Jesus in John 3:5 also Luke 24:47 and Matt 28:19. Jesus said in "His Name" not in the title, the trinity concept, formula was formed by the nicea council and the catholic church. Only when the Name of Jesus is applied is there remission of sins. The power is in the Blood of Jesus. The trinity doctrine was created as a way to unite all religions, and those who rejected it were put to death. Nobody in the Early Church ever applied the titles at baptism, they applied the Name of Jesus. The Name of the Son is not son. The Name of Jesus is no father. The Name of Jesus is Jesus. The Name of the son is Jesus. At the Name of Jesus shall every knee bow. Not titles. Baptism only saves when the Name of Jesus is applied. Otherwise you only get wet. All through the book of Acts they either Baptized in the Name of the Lord or in the Name of the Lord Jesus or Lord Jesus Christ. John 8:24-27 'He spoke of the father. John 1:1-14 Jesus is God manifested in the flesh. Emmanuel God with us. Deut 6:4 One God. Not A Trinity. Ephes 4:5 One Lord One Faith One Baptism.

  • Jacob on Acts 2 - 10 years ago
They were rebaptized because they hadn 't even heard of the Holy Ghost in verse 2. John 's baptism was the baptism of repentance verse 4, just like Peter 's baptism of repentance in Acts 2:38. When you see that they didn 't have the Pauline epistles and it was a Jewish faith being preached it will help you. The whole chapter 2 is to Jews verse 5,14,22,36. Simon Peter was offering them the Kingdom and if they as a nation would have repented Jesus Christ would have came back Acts 3:19-20. Stephen was preaching to the nation and Jesus Christ went from His seated position Mark 16:19 to standing in Acts 7:55 ready to come back. This did not take Him by surprise but it was a legitimate offer and the gospel of the kingdom of heaven was preached to the Jews first Rom 1:16 and then with the salvation of Paul the apostle to the Gentiles came the Gospel of the Grace of God. Romans 1:17 says it went from FAITH to FAITH. Galatians 3:23 But before faith came, THIS IS THE FAITH OF JESUS CHRIST BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. The faith afterwards revealed was revealed to Paul read Ephesians 3. Acts 2:38 is a false gospel. Read Acts 15. Peter never preached it again and we are saved today by grace through faith without works Romans 4:5.
  • Jerry Leonard on Acts 2 - 10 years ago
I 'd like to say about the comments on the book of Acts and its transitioning out to dispensation of Grace given to the Apostle Paul up to about Acts Chapter 15. All of Brother Jacob 's comments is laid out in detail and is right on. This is why we have all these denominations today. I know I was dumbfounded for 23 years.
  • Noel Austine on Acts 2:22 - 10 years ago
He is a man under authority, He does only what He sees His father do what heaven has approved because He is a man who is approved by God when you are committed to doing what God approves, you always achieve maximum miraculous results.
  • Jacob on Acts 2 - 10 years ago
If Acts 2 is doctrinally to you today and not for Jews then please do follow these verses too. Acts 2:44-45 And all that believed were together, and had all things common And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. Will you please do that? That 's what the Bible instructs you to do. The Church age was not revealed at this time Eph 3 and the Pauline epistles hadn 't been written yet. This Acts 2 is a Jewish faith Rom 1:16-17 . Yes they were added to the church but Acts is transitional. They are not added that way now. There are four different ways the Holy Spirit is received in Acts alone. But Paul our Apostle Rom 11:13 says its by Grace through faith ALONE. Once the kingdom is rejected with the stoning of Stephen Paul the apostle to the gentiles is saved and the transition from Jew to Gentile begins and by Acts 15 everyone agrees by faith alone. Relief is being sent to the Jews who obeyed Acts 2:44-45. See Acts 11:27-30, Rom 15:26, 1 Cor 16:1-3 .
  • Steven on Acts 2 - 10 years ago
I plainly say just read it and do what it instructs you to do. The book of acts was before all the denominations of Christianity that is now in the world. There was just Christians before man tried to perfect God and his Word. HE really doesn 't need our help. HIS WAYS are above our ways. God Bless all of you.
  • Betty Mccormack on Acts 2:17 - 10 years ago
Some, including me have thought that the people that are saying Christ is talking to them are saying they are false prophets. In Acts it clearly states that in the end of days our sons and daughters will prophesied. I have prayed for God to show me false prophets. I believe he just answered my prsyer in this verse
