Okay Linda. I will leave you with the Word of God & re-reading of the Scriptures. This thread is open for others to read & they too can look at the Scriptures & discern who was saying what to whom...and why, in respect to the matter you raised.
  • Local Authorities and Christians - In Reply - 3 years ago
Romans 13:1-7 describes the responsibility for Christians to live in submission to the human authorities in government. The reason given is that every government leader has ultimately been established by God for His own purposes. Generally speaking, human government serves to rein in and punish those who do evil. Governments do this on God's behalf. Christians must pay their taxes to support this work God is doing. In addition, those in Christ owe respect and honor to the authorities that God has put in place. Other Scriptures, such as Acts 5:27-29, distinguish between ''submission'' and ''obedience.''

Romans 13 tackles three big areas that living-sacrifice Christians must address. First, since God puts every human authority in place to serve His purposes, Christians must submit to them; this idea comes with a particular context. Second, we must love our neighbors as ourselves. Third, we are called to live as people of the light and throw off works of darkness like drunkenness, sexual immorality, and jealousy. We are to take on the armor of light against the darkness and, in fact, take on Christ Himself instead of serving our own desires.
  • THE STORY OF TAMAR-for those who asked about her - 3 years ago
    2 Samuel 13

David loved God, loved his family and loved his country. He was vulnerable through his deep love for all.

Amnon had a dirty old uncle encourage him to pursue Tamar (Absalom's sister). The uncle tells him what to do. Tamar tried to reason with him that as half sister, David might give her as a wife. Amnon only wanted what he'd been whipped into a frenzy for. After the rape, he didn't want anything to do with her. Nobody told David about it. David did not know what was going on, in his own household but he found out. He was angry at Absalom.

Tamar went to live in Absalom's house; in seclusion. Absalom simmered in anger 2 years before he dealt with Amnon.

Tamar is shown in David's genealogy; which is unusual.

Absalom was married? It's recorded he had 3 sons that must have died at birth because they are not in the genealogy. He had 1 daughter and he named her Tamar too. She was a woman of fair countenance like her Aunt Tamar. I don't know how long she lived.

Absalom did many many evil things. He raped all of his fathers concubines in full sight of town; and more. 2 Samuel 15

Abdalom died hanging in a tree by his long beautiful dreadlocks. Joab is fetched and he stabs Absalom in the heart with 3 arrows; the troops with him smote and slew him afterwards.

To conclude: the better question is what happened to Absalom's 1 daughter, that he named Tamar. Females were not in genealogies as a rule.

I think David's daughter Tamar died of a broken messed up life. I think In honor of her suffering, Absalom named his daughter Tamar, also. There is no record of the end of her life.

Galatians 3:13 says, CURSED is any who dies by hanging on a tree. Absalom died on a tree. Judas died on a tree. Jesus died on a tree so that WE ALL MAY LIVE ETERNALLY.

David's psalms represent a lot of heartache over his life, his kids, his choices. He loved large.

    James 1:5,

This website version has a comparison tab. You can compare other translations of scripture. I find it useful when studying deeper understanding & trust the HOLY Spirit to guide me into all truth.

Recently I've compared the KJV Standard on this website, to 1611 also on this site & The Jerusalem Bible 1970, when searching deeper. I also recommend an Exhaustive Concordance KJV, (best to get the translation you're most familiar with). It has every word written in the Bible for that translation. When I was newly learning to study the Bible I had NIV, & NIV Exhaustive Concordance. I then, went back to KJV but found the NIV Exhaustive Concordance, very difficult to use for finding scriptures, after becoming familiar with KJV.

The Exhaustive Concordance has the word your searching for in alphabetical order like a dictionary, then it has the original words used with simple definition in those original languages, then lists each time that same exact word was used. I've even found them online.

    Hopefully this is useful

I Am Fixated ON the Words Of JESUS.

JESUS Said: Have Not I Chosen You Twelve And (ONE Of You) IS A DEVIL.

The Mouths Of 3 Disciples (Matthew, Mark & Luke) Have Established That JESUS Called Simon PETER (Satan).

In The Mouth Of 2 Or 3 Witnesses Every Word Of God Is Established.

    JESUS Called Simon Peter (Satan).

    Satan = A Devil

Jesus Is Not A Liar (In My Eyes).

You (On The Other Hand) Seem To Think Otherwise.

Why don't You Look Up At JESUS Now? And Tell HIM That "HE" CALLED

    The WRONG Disciple, Satan?

    Thanks Kay,

I too, am not a manicure, fake nail, foo-foo girl either. I like to work hard. I am learning to use power tools now that my husband is stocking his tool repertoire for upcoming retirement. Learned to use the chop saw, circular saw, reciprocating saw, drill, impact driver, in the month before my surgery. My friend and I are "in training" concerning tools. So, my husband shows me how and then I go to her house and show her and we practice on scrap wood. Kinda fun, actually. But the best thing is that my husband and I can work on projects together (and with our sons, too).

  • A Prayer When Lonely - 3 years ago
How I thank You Heavenly Father, that You are there all the time and have promised never to leave me nor to forsake me. What a great comfort it is to know that no matter where I am or what I am doing, I can call upon You, day or night, knowing that Your ears are ever open to my cries for help.

Lord, You know that there are times when I feel so very lonely. I feel that no one I know seems to understand or even cares. I realise that they all have their own problems and interests, but even those that I am closest to do not seem to understand me or show any interest in me.

Lord, I know that part of the problem is that I am focussing on myself and my own needs, instead of realising that many other people are probably feeling much the same as me, and have no one to talk to and no one who understands them.

Help me Lord, to turn the eyes of my heart toward You every moment of the day and away from myself, knowing that only You can provide the fellowship and intimacy that I crave for, and that it is You alone Who can flood Your perfect peace into my heart and reveal Yourself to me in a new and special way. Thank You for being my Comforter and Counsellor. I pray that I may draw close to You in a way that I have never known before, so that Your comfort and grace may flow through me to others who are going through a similar loneliness. This I ask in Jesus' name,

    Amen :)

  • THE PLAN OF GOD__mishael - In Reply on James 3 - 3 years ago
There is so very much more to Abraham being told to sacrifice Isaac. It is a fore-picture of what God would have to do with Jesus at the Cross.

When Adam sinned with Eve; he forfeited the dominion and authority that God gave him. Satan STOLE it. It gave Satan authority to be upon earth. It gave him permission to do all that he did to JOB (short of murder).

Jesus set aside all of his Godhead powers and was born as a HUMAN through Mary.

Satan IS NOT HUMAN. He has to borrow bodies. Someday satan will inhabit the Antichrist's body. Demons have to borrow bodies. That's why the Holy Spirit gives us the gift of Discerning of Spirits (God, Human, or Evil).

Satan DID NOT know what the Godhead planned. If he did, he would have prevented the mob that screamed for Jesus to be crucified. He was sure Jesus was dead. However, on the 3rd day, Jesus came out of the grave with all of His powers restored.

Let me return to the CROSS. In order for Jesus to suffer OUR SEPARATION FROM GOD, he had to die. God had to turn away and not watch the horrors inflicted upon his SON. Much like Abraham did as he held the sacrifice knife above Isaac. God was showing us the future day when Jesus would take upon himself the sins of all mankind.

In his spirit body, Jesus went to hell and took the keys Satan had stolen: death, grave and hell. Jesus opened the prison and released all the people held there.

Satan has no power or authority to afflict mankind. People without Jesus as their Lord and Savior can be hurt by Satan and his demonic angels. He is ILLEGAL on this earth. He can cause calamities.

We have power through prayer to stop his illegal attacks.

God prevented Abraham plunging the knife into Isaac. He provide another sacrifice. Abraham obeyed God, and in doing so, made it possible for everything written in the Bible to happen just as it did.

The battle of Armageddon will be between Abrahams two sons: Isaac and Ishmael. Isaac is the covenant son.

re: Scripture explicitly shows that all people shall hear of The Gospel. When a person stated a question: why must we go about spreading The Gospel if GOD had instilled it upon all?

Backing scripture with scripture: "GOD would, that none should perish." (found in Revelations I believe)

My question is to all Truth seekers and believers in JESUS CHRIST who post among many social media forums: How could a True Believer in JESUS ever state, ""I'm ready for HIS return now"?

It makes no sense to me that one following HIM could claim being True to HIM yet they are ready for so many to perish even now.

Let's not be anxious for HIS return as we have much work to do all to HIS Glory. We should use every moment among non-believers as to help them in, yes it is The LORD GOD compelling them to seek the wonderful gift of free Salvation through CHRIST JESUS! Hallelujah!

We do not control our thoughts most of the time. So how does that factor in?

I'm happy my thoughts are not the creators thoughts, because thoughts just get thrown into my mind, sometimes good, sometimes bad. I would hope the creator doesn't have bad thoughts about mankind, because we are the creators creation.

But, according to Genesis 3:22, we became like the creator in knowing good and evil. So, does the creator have evil thoughts as well, and how are those thoughts different from mankind?

  • Chris - In Reply - 3 years ago
Indeed GiGi. When any matter is discussed, all of Scripture needs to be taken into account pertaining to it, or else our understanding will most certainly be skewed. And the same would apply to those subjects where we're not given much to go on, preventing us forming an accurate understanding. Too much damage can be done when we fail to take in the whole Word of God & wish to add in our own 'little extras' to paint a picture that conforms to our belief & not as the Spirit intended. Thank you.

    Matthew 16:18

And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock

I WILL BUILD my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. 1 Corinthians 10:4

[ Luke 9: the account of Jesus's Transfiguration]

28-29 And it came to pass about an eight days after these sayings, Jesus took Peter and John and James, and went up into a mountain to pray.

And as Jesus prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering.

    Verses 33-35

And it came to pass, as they departed from him, Peter said unto Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three (CHURCHES) tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias: NOT knowing what he said.

While he thus spake, there came a cloud, and overshadowed them: and they feared as they entered into the cloud.

And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: HEAR HIM.

Mishael comment: it was the wrong time to start planning 3 Churches. In the verse from Matthew, it's clear that Jesus will build His Church. A church not made with hands.

Linda, you said, "Jesus Wanted To (Reveal) Who The One Devil Was: That (Jesus Had To Choose) To Be A Disciple Of His."

I think you're unnaturally fixated on Peter being the Devil, rather than looking at the actual person Jesus was pointing to. Read John 6:70,71: "Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil? He spake of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve." Peter wasn't the devil-filled person in the room - Judas was. Anyone, then & now, who stands against or wilfully obstructs Jesus' Words & the Words in the Scriptures, does so by the inspiration of Satan. It happened to both Judas & Peter - it can happen to you & me. Let us "tremble at His Word"; giving Satan no room to influence & misguide us into gross error.

No further comment needed on your remaining thoughts, as I dealt with them previously.
  • Richard H Priday - In Reply on Genesis 19 - 3 years ago
Your analogies all were as the parable of the sower. Those who have the seed stolen by Satan never really hear it; those who hear and immediately fall away when trials come are as you would say "blew it off" and the third those who knew it and "chucked it" as it were when the riches and snares of this life choked out the effectiveness. The problem with this analogy is that is a bit oversimplistic; in that we all start off with hearing the Word; and go through testings of the temptations of this world; the flesh and the devil. Those who are of "His seed" who endure until the end have the Spirit chastising those who are truly His own. Those who are saved truly are dead to their old selves and eventually produce some fruit; but some are clearly recieving rewards to a greater or lesser extent; and some are saved as through the fire.

Of course; there are those like Judas Iscariot who were part of His ministry; but never really with Him; because they were in it for other reasons than loving God. Any spiritual "experience" that is above the giver of gifts that is desired leaves one open to the "angel of light" Satan Himself. God can perhaps heal someone through a miracle despite the fact that some either deliberately fabricate miracles for financial gain; or are directly infested with demons that for a time seem to work wonders. You shall know them by their fruits (Matth. 7:16-22). I would state clearly that anyone who is living in a state of unrepentant sin cannot simultaneously do works of righteousness. Many are also in churches as a pride thing; family loyalty; socializing; or to make themselves feel good about themselves that they've "done their duty."

The clearest thing I can say that is in God's presence; which often means being around those TRULY filled with the Spirit of God; sin, righteousness and judgment to come ( John 16:8) is made clear; and we are driven to a godly sorrow leading to repentance. ( 2 Cor. 7:10). God will reveal this to you

    Thank you Dgjot, I share similar sentiments to you. Yet, I'm comforted knowing that whatever evil there may be around me or of the plans & devices of wicked men against me, the Lord truly is in full knowledge & control over the situation. We should not be unduly weighed down in mind & spirit of 'what could happen'. Rather, our hearts must be raised above what we see or don't see on Earth and raised to see the Lord of Heaven who promises us His Care: 2 Thessalonians 3:2,3; Psalm 18:2-6; Psalm 32:5-7;

Psalm 125:1; Proverbs 18:10, are a few verses that should encourage all of us.

We can indeed be bold, going forth in the Name of the Lord. Until we go out in faith, facing the enemy & his followers head on with the Love & Grace of the Lord, we will never fully know or experience the Lord's Arm of Salvation. This is not the time to live in fear, but to wisely use the time the Lord gives us to stand bodly for Him & exude His Righteousness amongst a people who have no knowledge or desire for it. There may be evil intent from some, but "Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day", even as the Lord opened up the way (the Red Sea) for His children to pass over ( Exodus 14:13,14). The Lord has all of Heaven's resources ready to come to our aid - only faith can take hold of them & release them, that we might all stand in awe of the Lord of Glory.

And yes, we need to exercise great care when seeing God's Work before us. Many saw it in that day but accused Jesus of working by the power of Satan. There's no hope for those who continually refuse God or acknowledge His Mercy shown to them & others. We should not be hasty in condemning a work we may know very little about - maybe doing so to our hurt.

    Luke 9:57-58,

    Luke 9:59,60,

    Luke 9:61-62,

Look in Luke 10, Luke 10:2, He said the labourers are few, two guys had excuses, one guy Jesus gave him facts of hardship. It's interesting that after that Jesus said the labourers are few.

It doesn't say they didn't follow Him.

By Not Including Jesus Saying To Peter: Do You Love Me: (You Took) "Feed My Sheep (Out Of Context). The Whole Purpose Of Their Conversation Was To (Reveal) Whether Peter Loved Jesus In Word And In Deed, Or In Word Only.

Jesus Wanted To (Reveal) Who The One Devil Was: That (Jesus Had To Choose) To Be A Disciple Of His.

(Peter) Get (Thee) Behind Me (Satan)

Thou Savourest Not The Things Of God. Peter (Did Not Savour) The Things Of God. Thee = Peter = Satan = The One Devil That Jesus Chose To Be A Disciple.

All Who Truly Love & Fear Jesus Will Not Only Confess With Their Mouth That Jesus Is Their Lord , But They Will Also (Desire To Obey) Jesus. John 15:14 Jesus Says, Ye Are MY Friends (IF Ye DO) Whatsoever I Command You.

Peter (Denied) Jesus Three Times: And Peter (Disobeyed) Jesus. If Peter Had Not Disobeyed Jesus: Then Paul Would Never Have Withstood Peter To His Face. Paul said, That Peter Walked Not According To The Gospel. Paul Said: That Peter (Caused Others) To Walk Not According To The Gospel. Peter Even Caused Barnabas To Fall Away. So Peter Not Only Disobeyed Jesus: But He Caused Others To Disobey Jesus. Peter Did This (After) Jesus Said , Feed My Sheep. So Rather Than Doing What Jesus Ordered Him To Do: Peter Chose Not To Feed Jesus' Sheep. And Peter Chose To Scatter Jesus' Sheep.

Bottom Line: Peter Didn't Truly Love Jesus. Peter (Walked Not) According To The Gospel Of Jesus. Peter Was (Afraid Of God's Chosen People (Those Of The Circumcision). And, Peter (Caused Even Barnabas) And Others To Fall Away From The Gospel Of Jesus Christ.

And Yet Now (In This Day And Age)

Many Who Call Jesus, Lord: Admire And Exalt (Peter, Get Thee Behind Me Satan) (Above All The Other Disciples.

    Rather Ironic, Don't You Think?

God's People Admire And Highly Respect The ONE Man That Jesus Called, SATAN.

"......His wife sort of represents the parable where Jesus said that

he who turned his back on the plow was unworthy ( Luke 9:62)....

Those who are caught up with the cares of this life; and ensnared by riches will never produce fruit and therefore are unsaved according to the parable of the sower. "

Define "unsaved". Do you mean someone who heard the Gospel and rejected it right away or heard it and blew it off or are you talking about people who knew the truth and then totally chucked it and went back to their old, sinful ways?

Many "christians" have the appearance of Godliness (like going to Church every Sunday, or going to/having Bible studies,

or bragging about how much they fast and pray, or do good deeds to be seen by men, or get a high by "speaking in tongues"

    or ......)

    Matthew 7:20-23

20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Just what is, "doing the will of my Father which is in heaven."??

    I'm confused.
