    Hello Kuhnemd,

It seems like you labeled people who believe the Bible as being in one of these groups, which could be perceived as an disrespectful attack. You wrote "The concept of "soul sleep" is not biblical. ", but sleep while awaiting Jesus's return and judgment is Biblical if that's what the Bible says. And this is what the Bible says:

    Daniel 12:2, Job 14:12, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

The scripture you quoted about sleep and awaiting judgment supports it, and the scripture you used to support your belief of going immediately to heaven doesn't actually support it. You then misquoted Paul 2 Corinthians 5:6-8 when he said he would "rather" be in heaven than on Earth. Philippians 1:23 says he has a "desire" to depart, not that 100% of all people go immediately to be with the Lord. Thought I would explain that for the benefit of others who may be viewing this so they are not mislead. This is not a salvation issue, but it's hard to see scripture being distorted and not mention it. Normal Bible readers who aren't in any of the groups you mention can believe what God's Word says about sleep. If it says it, and it does, then I believe it. I do not believe man's different ideas about the subject, only God's. God bless.

    Psalm 139

    Part 2

God's eternity and infinity lead directly into His omniscience. He knows every cell in every living thing, every molecule, every atom. He knows every space in the universe, every planet, solar system, galaxy, star, sun and void of space. He knows every inch of the earth, it's atmosphere, all water, land, under the earth. All the aspects of our earth's core, mantle, etc. He knows entirely all that is involved in the expression of natural laws like gravity, speed of light, etc. He knows every heartbeat of every creature and knows when each heart begins to beat and when each heart ceases to beat any longer.

He knows all that will ever happen to me; all of my choices, thoughts, words, deeds even before I was conceived, He knew all of my future and what will be the final end for me (which will be redeemed, resurrected, glorified, and ever with Jesus) which will bring God glory, which is what He seeks in all of His determinations.

God knows all that is happening in our world now as well as all that will come in the future. He is guiding history to His end which was determined from the beginning of Creation.

He knows every cry, every prayer we will ever make to Him and His answers were willed before time, because He knew what I would need or ask of Him. This is very comforting to me. And it gives me courage, knowing if God is for me, who can stand against me in the end!

How thankful I am to know these things about Him. It drives me to adore Him. It gives me rest and peace in times of trouble. I can trust His wisdom and truth. I can believe that He is faithful and just without fear of being cast away. I can understand that He will never be caught off guard by the enemy, never be surprised by anything devised by the enemy or chosen by any creature. This makes me feel safe and secure. No wonder God has said so many times, "Fear not, for I am with you.!"

"O the depths of the riches of both the wisdom and knowledge of God!" Rom. 11:33 (NIV)

    A very fundamental lesson

All flesh is appointed to die.

Every soul that sin shall die the 2nd death.

There's a new birth at conversion for those who trust in Christ. This is defined in baptism.

And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: Hebrews 9:27.

There is in scripture what is called the 2nd death. This has been taken care of for those who trust Christ.

    Without Christ you're already dead.

    1 Timothy 5:6.

    Ephesians 2:5.

    Revelation 3:1.

    Colossians 2:13.

    Romans 8:10.

    Mathew 8:22.

    Luke 15:24.

And here's an important one for the brethren.

    1 John 3:14.

John 11:25-26. Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

AND WHOSOEVER LIVETH AND BELIEVETH IN ME SHALL NEVER DIE. Believest thou this?

One of many verses on the 2nd death.

Revelation 20:13-14. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

    Eternal life.

If you truly trust in Christ, you have been baptized into Christ. You already have ETERNAL life. That's the only kind he's giving.

If you haven't truly trusted in Christ you're already dead while you liveth and it shows up in your living and it observed carefully you'll find it in their Doctrine.

    Romans 8:9.

    Romans 10:8-10. But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

    God bless.

Reading Psalm139, I am reminded of the greatness of God, especially His omni-presence and omniscience. Verses 1-6 speaks of God's all knowing. vs, 3 says God is acquainted with all of my ways, among other things. Then in vs, 6 the Psalmist says, "Such knowledge is too wonderful for me. It is high, I cannot attain it.

Verses 7-12 speaks of how God is everywhere at once. God Spirit and so, there is no place in all creation that her is not present. This speaks to the immensity of God. As pure Spirit in His essence He us not composed of matter and is not confined to a single location by a form. Not only is He present in all of the universe, He also lives in the realm outside time and space which occupied only by God's essence.

Verses 13-15 speaks God forming each individual in the womb. This assure me that I was made by God and have worth to Him.

    Vs.14b "Marvelous are Your works."

Verses 15-18 speak again of God's knowing. even what we see as past, present, and future. verses 16-18 "Your eyes saw my substance; being yet unformed (He saw me as I will be in eternity before I was even conceived). And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet were none of them."

I have been studying God's attributes for a few months now. yesterday and today I was reading on His Infinity, which indicates that there is no lack in Him of any attribute or degree of any attribute. And His Immensity, since His being has no limits or bounds, He can fill everything with His presence.

His Eternity in which in him is no time or temporal aspects. He sees "the end from the beginning" all at once, independent of time, not in sequence like we do, being dependent on time. This is why He speaks about Jesus being slain from before the foundation of the world (time) and that we were elect before the beginning of time. Before He created anything, He knew ALL history for ALL persons across ALL time, not as event following event following event, but instantaneously.

Present-day defenders of soul sleep include the Seventh Day Adventist church, Jehovah's Witnesses, Christadelphians, and others.

In regards to the portion of your question regarding death=sleep. We must be careful in understanding what is really meant and not fall into the belief of "Soul sleep." Soul sleep is a belief that after a person dies, his/her soul "sleeps" until the resurrection and final judgment. The concept of "soul sleep" is not biblical. When the Bible describes a person "sleeping" in relation to death ( Luke 8:52; 1 Corinthians 15:6), it does not mean literal sleep. Sleeping is just a way to describe death because a dead body appears to be asleep. The moment we die, we face the judgment of God ( Hebrews 9:27). For believers, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord ( 2 Corinthians 5:6-8; Philippians 1:23). For unbelievers, death means everlasting punishment in hell ( Luke 16:22-23).

Until the final resurrection, though, there is a temporary heaven-paradise ( Luke 23:43; 2 Corinthians 12:4) and a temporary hell-Hades ( Revelation 1:18; 20:13-14). As can be clearly seen in Luke 16:19-31, neither in paradise nor in Hades are people sleeping. It could be said, though, that a person's body is "sleeping" while his soul is in paradise or Hades. At the resurrection, this body is "awakened" and transformed into the everlasting body a person will possess for eternity, whether in heaven or hell. Those who were in paradise will be sent to the new heavens and new earth ( Revelation 21:1). Those who were in Hades will be thrown into the lake of fire ( Revelation 20:11-15). These are the final, eternal destinations of all people-based entirely on whether or not a person trusted in Jesus Christ for salvation.

All the water in the world cd not redeem man from his sin nature....Only the blood of the lamb can regenerate us...You are made Clean by the word i have spoken unto you...Which is Jesus the living word made flesh and blood...That new covenant...As Jesus was the Living Word made flesh and blood...Remember the thief on the cross was made Clean by hearing his words his voice not water baptism...Its the water of the Word that living water that makes us clean...Which is the H.G. the gift of GOD....That Child of Promise.

.....If thou knewest the gift of God and who it is that ask of thee to drink,.. Thou wd have ask of him and he wd have given you living water not h20...Salvation by water baptism will not quench your thirst for Jesus or the Kingdom....Only that living water which is baptism of the H.G. will quench your thirst for Jesus...

....Even in the O.T. they had to apply Blood to the doorpost they cd not apply WATER to the Doorpost for the remission of sins...

But now under this new covenant the Blood is applied to the Doorposts of our hearts...As its the things that come from the heart of a man that defiles him..Thats y we need an internal baptism which is baptism of the H.G...As there is only 1 baptism of PROMISE which is baptism of the H.G..When Jesus said behold I send the Promise of my Father upon you it was baptism of the H.G...MEANING THEY WERE GONNA BIRTH A LIL CHILD WHICH IS THE H.G. THE Child of PROMISE...Unless you receive the KINGDOM OF GOD as a lil Child you will in no wise enter there in....When he said that which is BORN of the spirit is spirit thats the H.G. OUR NEW INNERMAN that has to be born in us via his seed the Word..Being bornagain via a incorruptible seed etc

....There is only 1 baptism that will give us a new heart and a new spirit.Which is baptism of the H.G...We cannot go and recoup his blood from calvary...Now its transduced to his words thats y he is saying you are made clean by the WORDS I HAVE SPOKEN UNTO YOU...THAT NEW COVNANT...

Dear Marie, Paul's instructions in the verse given you by Ann show you that you are no longer bound to your husband if he is an unbeliever. If he is a believer, then you are to wait in hopes of being reconciled.

Everything is still very raw with you and your son is hurting, too. Take this season to support him and improve your communication with him.

Suze has given you good advice to be about the things of the Lord instead of seeking a mate. God will bring about an answer to your need for companionship in His timing and will.

My last comment is that I recommend being completely divorced before dating another. And pray for your husband. If he is involved with drugs, then he is not in his right mind. but God can deliver him and restore him to you, also. Be open for whatever God has for your future.

Dear Doug, I am sorry you are still having health problems from covid. I have not had covid but have had low back issues that are degenerative, so as time goes by, I can do less and less than I'd like to do.

I will pray for you today.

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for being with Doug through this covid ordeal. We ask You today to repair Doug's body and cause these symptoms to subside. We ask that You make his lungs stronger so he can breathe more easily without shortness of breath. We ask that You right his sense of balance so he will not have falls. We ask that you settle his digestive system down so that he will not have daily nausea. Strengthen his legs. Release his nervous system from headaches. Lord God, renew Doug's joy and hope in You. Make Doug more aware of the ways You have blessed him despite these health issues. Repair his memory so he can recount what is needed for his daily care. We ask these things Father, in the name of Your Son, Jesus. Amen.

    George,

I meant to place Hebrews 10:26 in the third category, not the second. Sorry about that!
  • Jesse - In Reply on Hebrews 1 - 2 years ago
    George,

The inscription added to this letter in the 2nd century was "The Letter to the Hebrews." This letter was written to Hebrew Christians. We know this because of the emphasis on the Levitical priesthood and sacrifices, and an absence of any reference to Gentiles.

The purpose of the letter was to warn against apostasy during persecution. It's when believers suffer that believers consider stop following Christ, or consider compromising in their walk with the Lord when things get tough. The Hebrew people would suffer severe persecution for identifying with Christ as the Messiah. Instead of surrendering their lives to Christ, many of them were turning away and going back into Judaism because life was so much easier for them that way. Nothing in the book of Hebrews speaks about losing salvation.

In order to understand the various passages and the various sections of Hebrews, we have to understand that there are three separate groups to whom it was written:

    1) To Hebrew believers.

    2) To Hebrews who have an intellectual understanding of Christ but have not been saved, and they are considering going back to the religious system of Judaism because of the persecution for identifying with Hebrew believers. ( Hebrews 6:4-6). So these are Hebrews who understand what's being taught, and they intellectually agree with it, but they have never received Christ. ( Hebrews 10:26).

    3) There were also Hebrew unbelievers. These were those who were at these meetings, those who were in the crowd that just did not believe.

So by understanding these three groups, we can better understand some of the scriptures that are being presented, and why some of these Hebrew people were turning away and going back into Judaism. There are sections of scriptures to each one of these three groups in the book of Hebrews.

What a lot of folks don't understand is The Cross, the shedding of Jesus Blood was a New Covenant....A Blood Covenant and nothin can be added to it...When Jesus said its finished that was the New Covenant in his Blood...We cannot add anything to it like circumcision or Water Baptism any kind of a work will make the blood of no effect...We make the BLOOD THAT New Covenant OF NO EFFECT when we preach that Water Baptism can remit sins...Even in the O.T. without the shedding Of BLOOD THERE WAS NO REMISSION OF SINS...Thats y the lord was so upset with Peter he was commanding water baptism....As if the Blood of Jesus was insufficient for the sins of the world. Even Paul was reluctant to water baptise with water ...Paul feared adding anything to the blood of Jesus wd make the blood that new covenant of no effect....Thats y Paul said i thank God that i baptised none of you, Paul knew that nothin can be added to Gods new covenant in JESUS BLOOD.

......Thats y Jesus said John baptised you with water but i will baptise you with the H.G. and fire...Which was the result of his BLOOD...That NEW Covenant...Its kinda like the Mona Liza NO artist is allowed to add their touches...Their carnal mind to the painting...There is nothin on this earth that can be added to that Heavenly Covenant the Cross the Blood of the lamb...Thats y the Lord was scolding Peter saying what i have made clean do call common or unclean by commanding water baptism for the remission of sins...3 times the Lord rebuked Peter with that sheet with all the unclean animals which was the Church that was made clean by the BLOOD not water baptism that Peter was commanding...By commanding water baptism Peter was in essence saying the Blood of that new covenant was insufficient...Thats y the Lord was so upset with Peter telling him 3 times what i have made CLEAN do call common or unclean..Then Peter remembered the words of our Lord..John baptised you with water but i will baptise you with the H.G. AND FIRE, N.C.

There was a time when one removed his jacket in heated debate's , this was a sign to put up or shut up! What was going through Aron's mind when He rent His clothes confronting the unbelievers ,trusting with all Confidence, being assured in those He and Moses sent out, who returned with the reconnaissance they believed!

Even so today, we see an unbelieving nation who have no fear of what they do or say! Whom God has sent too you; God fearing men who believe and trust the words of God! Who bring you the reconnaissance, so vital to your existence?

Indeed, even so the time of restitution will begin according to His will, we shall see what happens after 10. This will be the time of no turning back, that the judgment shall begin.

There will, of course be those who think that they are right, and shall proceed, only to an end, unforgiven ending in death and darkness. These will be those who live according to the law, and not the faith given through the blood and sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ! Rent and be Baptized

You are very definately not alone Doug . There are thousands like you all over the world , me included . I had covid early last year , it has affected my stamina , memory and concentration quite a bit . All we can do is be patient and thankful that we are still alive in the love of God . Patience is the key . I've been very slowly improving for a year now , we can't rush anything , it's a hard lesson to learn that we are not in control of our bodies . We must give our hearts and minds to God and do our best with the bodies that we have . Pray , read your Bible , trust in He who made you . One day we won't be burdened by this fragile flesh , one day soon I hope . We shall fly on eagle's wings , what a day !
