Melchizedek isn't mentioned anywhere else except for Hebrews and Psalm 110 outside of Genesis. The geneology is not something which is of significance outside the lineage of Christ and Jewish descendants in the Scriptures. It would be interesting to see if any secular sources or writings of other religions have any information. To deliberately leave this a mystery in a way points to the Son of Man who truly was from God rather than any man in His origin.

If we look at the true history and traditions of nations; we see stories which indicate an original concept of one God greater than all others; followed by polytheistic idol worship later. The primary example in Asia was the Hindu faith coming from India and crossing into China; later morphing into the Buddhist and other sects. The focus of the Old Testament was on the law; and God's chosen nation but we need to keep in mind many were called out of their lands of origin (such as Abraham from Ur of the Chaldees). Gentiles however were allowed to align themselves with the God of the Jews if they wished to worship with them. There was a long period before the law was established; and times when it was virtually ignored where God would work with other nations; particularly when God's people were exiled as was promised previously to be a "little sanctuary". The bread and wine certainly is a foreshadowing of Christ Himself; who was King of the Jews; but also came to save others as Isaiah promised to be a "light unto the gentiles". It is interesting that no animal sacrifices are mentioned with Melchizedek although it doesn't seem certain through omission if that actually occurred. Clearly God can work through who He will; and now as Gentiles we are "grafted in" to a better means and no further sacrifice is needed as Christ as Melchizedek ever intercedes for us.

Please thank Jesus with me, our prayers for requesting housing has been temporally resolved. The buyer of our rental property is open to renting to us also. we hope that this will come to an end by the end of the month. Still praying for a permanent home and that my husband will not fear the future of signing mortgage papers. My next couple of request may be tied together. I pray that that the Lord's stepping stones will lead me and our son to fruitful, marketable jobs.

My father in laws pancreatic cancer and heart issues continually to be a concern but always turn into results of God's healing power. Amen

Thank you for sharing this burden with me. Amen God Bless

Alex, can you not perceive how what you detail, is confusing to an unbeliever? A new Christian?

This is a King James Bible forum. We should use the verses that explain the Godhead. Simple.

When you mix in all the threesomes like Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and the heavenly creatures around Gods Throne_ it sounds confusing. It confuses me.

I think we should teach what Jesus taught in the Gospels. I don't know about you, but I've piled up miles I've walked on city streets, preaching the Good News. What it says on the 'Become A Believer' Link, is more than helpful; to lead people to the Savior.

When I am in heaven finally, I will then see all the people and creatures myself. I'll probably lay on my face a lot too.

One of my favorite passages is Isaiah 6. It is how I learned to fully worship and adore the holiness of the Godhead, and those in Heaven around Gods Throne. Just preach that. It's hard for new believers to lay down the world, and live for Heaven.

Jesus told us to GO YE as well as everyone else who names the name of Jesus. Jesus is Who we follow. His Way, His Truth, leads us to His Life.

Let us be in agreement on this, ok?

    Dear Richard,

I'd like to offer an alternative viewpoint to the absent with body present with Lord phrase.

First, it doesn't say that in the Bible. That phrase is actually from 2 Corinthians 5:8 where Paul said he would "rather" be absent from the body, and present with the Lord. He didn't say in 100% of all cases when people die that 100% of the time they will be "immediately" with the Lord, regardless. If it was the second phrase it would be clear what it means, but all it means is Paul stating his preference. It certainly doesn't mean Hitler and other mass murderers are with the Lord right now, simply because of this one verse.

Second, people often quote the verse about the man on the cross that Jesus said would be in "paradise" on that day as support. But Jesus didn't say 100% of all people, from this moment onward will 100% go to heaven, and zero people going to hell. And the word paradise is not necessarily the same as heaven. Some believe this is a waiting area for the dead.

Lastly, there are many more Bible verses indicating that the dead are 'sleeping' and are awaiting the Lord to meet in the air and then face judgment. It says all will be judged, not just some. So, believing people go immediately to heaven without waiting on the Lord, and skipping judgment doesn't align with the other scriptures.

Matthew 12:36, 2 Corinthians 5:10, Revelation 20:11-15 - People are all judged on the same day. Lots of people seen in the same place.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 says the dead will rise and those living will meet the Lord in the air. Would it make sense for someone to go heaven, then back to earth to rise up, then back again to heaven?

When people die they 'sleep' awaiting the Lord's return as it indicates in Daniel 12:2, Job 14:12, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18.

The simple answer is that the daughters weren't mentioned. Clearly; before the law the only means of reproduction were from siblings hence "incest" wasn't considered a sin. It wasn't long; however before the Genesis 6 corruption of man; when angels seduced women and produced the "men of renown" aka the giants who God systematically destroyed primarily at the flood and later with the destruction of the surrounding wicked nations of Israel to be conquered.

    SONS OF GOD.

This is a term used as a direct creation of God.

There is only 3 in scripture that was created that bares this title

    1) Angels.

    Genesis 6:2.

    Job 1:6.

    2) Adam.

    Luke 3:38.

We're not a "direct" creation. We're sons of Adam until Born again.

    3) Those in Christ.

    John 1:12.

We are a NEW creation in Christ.

That's why it's called a new birth. "Born again" properly translated, "Born from above."

With Adam being the first Man/Adam created, And then sinned, sin passed on to ALL Men, "Only if ALL Men came after Adam. The ONLY way redemption is available to ALL.

Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: Romans 5:12.

To redeem, is to buy back!

When the Law came everyone in Adam spiritually died.

I believe physical death came by Adams transgression, spiritual death came by the giving of the law.

But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. Romans 5:15.

And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.

The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.

As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.

And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. 1 Corinthians 15:45-49.

If there were people created before Adam how can they be bought back when Adam transgression has no effect on them being they were never "In" Adam.

    Note: Acts 17:26.

    Genesis 5:1-2. connects Genesis 1:26-28.

and Genesis 2:7. and also cover the use of the name Adam used for both Adam and Eve.

    God bless.

It would seem to me that the verses in both the seal judgments and trumpet ones in Revelation showing the "incense of the prayers of the saints" indicate a likelihood of prayers being lifted up for those suffering on earth; along with those still going through the horrors of the Tribulation at that time. We should also recall Christ Himself operating as our High Priest, "ever interceding" for us according to Hebrews. The danger here is for us to attempt any communication i.e. necromancy from our side to the other. It is Christ only who is to be worshipped; and this is indicated by the elder or messenger John attempted to worship when seeing the Revelation. All messengers or angels (can be translated either way) in that book as well are at that time; whether angelic or glorified souls (or those raptured) are in a sense ministering spirits if we look at it that way. Other scriptures give us a more indirect look at this concept; as we are said to only "see from a distance" the destruction of the wicked. Surely; once we are out of sinful bodies and the distractions of this life we can see more clearly what is going on in the spiritual dimension (as Moses and Elijah did during the transfiguration for instance). Being in the Spirit will surely be glorious; and we will see His judgments and be aware of Satan and the spiritual forces which are truly at work in the air and the powers and principalities of influence. The heavenly angels and creatures no doubt will be clearly seen for who they are not to mention Christ Himself. Worship and songs of praise will clearly be given by saints; and yet the elders will have thrones in heaven and in that sense exalted above the angels.

That is an interesting question. That is in line with the death of many children; before the age of accountability in scripture which in some cases was demanded as part of the destruction of surrounding nations. Ultimately; it can be established that SPIRITUAL death (which is the ultimate punishment of the wicked) is a factor in this chapter-as the righteous and their earthly death is NOT mentioned. That eliminates children from entering hell before the age of accountability; and in fact David's attitude after the period of mourning and fasting indicates that "He cannot go to me; but I shall go to him." It also is instructive that the proper response to David's adultery and consent to the murder of Uriah demonstrated grace; as there was nothing in the law that could prevent being stoned for such an act of treason. It would be better stated that the child's death was a result of David's sin; kind of like a collateral damage. The child certainly was not told he would die because of his own sin; nor as stated above was it any scriptural method to deal with David's sin. Therefore he wasn't held accountable for David's sin; but died as a result of it. Perhaps something as simple as not being protected from illnesses leading to death; or other factors were due to a hedge of protection being removed as a result of David's actions. (Actually the passage is 2 Samuel 12). Nathan's reason of God doing this indicating David's contempt for the Lord or as KJV says reason to blaspheme (v. 14) the child would die. Verse 13 indicates BEFOREHAND David's sin was already forgiven and he shall not die. Perhaps the Hittites related to Uriah would rightly see a righteous man sacrificing himself for the sake of Israel necessitating vengeance. This seems like God's way of vindicating them; who in this case were righteous rather than the King of His chosen nation who needed to be held accountable. Also, Deut. 29:29 shows mysteries of God that we cannot comprehend.

Noah was saved from God's wrath along with his immediate family. This therefore is as prototype of the rapture; with all righteous removed before judgment. There were the physical descendants who were not tainted; as Noah was said to be "perfect" in his ways. Clearly we are all of Adam's sin nature; so this would have to refer the the fallen angels and their offspring (Nephilim) who corrupted the seed of ALL men outside the ark. Christ came ONLY for the sons of men; not angels or corrupted offspring. Thus; Satan's plan to thwart Christ's lineage and therefore stop the plan of redemption from coming to fruition was demonstrated here. We of course; according to Romans are saved from the "wrath to come". We are to take refuge as His sheep in Him; who guides us as Psalm 23 states to pastures where we can safely graze as J.S. Bach stated. We also shall stand in the "presence of His enemies". Those outside the ark are similar to those in Isaiah 66 who are seen and abhorred by God's people. Being saved from ourselves surely is the greatest gift as well. It should also be kept in mind that obeying the Lord in the means of being saved and His instructions is imperetive as compared with attempting to justify ourselves by doing our own thing to earn God's favor.

There was a calling out as well with a similar small group with Lot and his immediate family. We do well to note Lot's wife and all her privleges meaning nothing as her heart was still in this world as she "looked back" and was destroyed. The final state of the world at the end of the Millennium is similar as the world as the "sands of the sea" in their size will for the final time be led astray by Satan. Again; all the utopian visions or means of escape are useless delusions apart from God's saving grace as our only solution. We need to remember Peter as well; who was saved after exclaiming "Lord save me" when walking on water. Christ is our only solace in this dying world to be judged by fire.

It should be remembered that only 3 disciples went up the mount; the others likely were sleeping. There is no doubt from the text that Jesus was talking with Moses and Elijah. If nothing else; their discussion of His demise proves this; as Peter was rebuked from Satan's influence by Christ when he tried to admonish Christ for predicting such a thing! This showed a sort of foreshadowing of Christ's eternal glory (outside of space and time). It would seem also that Christ's statement immediately preceding this about some of them not dying until they saw the Son of Man in His glory could have been a veiled reference to this event; which also in some way could have gone ahead in time to show Christ's future state much as John did in Revelation as to what was to happen. The voice of God also is the same as earlier with John the Baptist "this is my Son; listen to Him" or something to that effect. That was to be the focus of the event; the Son of God. There will be future real physical bodies to what is now spiritual bodies for those passed on (Elijah would seem to still be in his old body as he is prophesied to die as one of the two prophets in the future). As to Moses there is some debate as Satan had contention about his burial; nonetheless he probably shone much like he did on earth when he had to wear a veil to cover himself. As with the story of Lazarus and the rich man; we are to take things literally unless they are clearly meant to be figurative. Even a dream or vision if truly from the Lord transcends our fleshly body and soul and therefore there is something real from heaven behind it. Our minds whether awake or asleep are controlled by our will (i.e. soul); and that is either still in darkness or the Spirit of God is living and active allowing us to die to our old nature and be transformed by the renewing of the mind ( Romans 12:2).

This is a question all "Pre Tribbers" (as I am) must come to grips with. Surely; as with any other prophetic scriptures at least a partial fulfillment occured by AD 70 (and in some ways with the further diaspora around AD 130.) This certainly confirms these things happening within a generation; and a 40 year one at that (allowing for the fact Christ may have been born a few years previous to AD 1 if the signs are aligning properly with the timeframe).

The prevailing theory on 1948 being the beginning of the last generation is coming into question as we have according to Psalm 90:10 no time left and in fact if the Tribulation stated today; would go past the deadline of 2028 to some time in 2029 to bring "all things to pass"..namely the physical return of Christ. We could say the same thing about a 40 year generation from 1967 when Jerusalem came under Jewish control as more than 50 years have already passed. The possibility of a Psalm 83 war scenario makes sense to me to be the REAL beginning of the last generation as a time when ALL the trees surrounding the main "fig tree" will prosper. This would give those already siding with Israel such as the Gulf states and soon no doubt the Saudis access to tremendous economic wealth of natural gas and other resources off the coast to bring financial gain; and also lull the Jews to danger; and therefore eventually be more suited for a land of "unwalled villages" and the other conditions needed for the later Ezekiel 38 war to commence with the outer countries such as Turkey; Iran; Russia; and other long term enemies. That would probably be a time that they will sign the Danie 9:27 agreement when they perceive a position of strength; not weakness. It would seem at some point between now and then the Temple must be rebuilt. We also have to look at the emerging one world religion and the headquarters in the Mideast about to open in the next couple years for Jews; Muslims and Christians to worship together.

The verses in Corinthians clearly indicate that we are not as the rest of the world as to the fate of our loved ones. To be absent from the body is present with the Lord; and in the transfiguration we see Moses and Elijah in a glorified state (although to be sure Elijah never died). We will have perfect celestial (as it were) instead of mortal; terrestrial perishable bodies. Each individual no doubt was created unique and with their level of authority will rule and reign in different methods in eternity. It is obvious even with the horrifying account of Lazarus and the rich man that conversations among the lost have no recognition issue. As it states in Ecclesiastes the soul of a man goes upward; and an animal downward after death. Some could argue in Ezekiel as well as to whether the souls of kings in hades are having conversations with Antichrist after he is cast out as an "abominable branch" unworthy of burial on earth.

The real problem it seems to me is that we are so accustomed to viewing each other in ways familiar to the flesh rather than tabernacles of the Spirit of God. Christ Himself said to Peter that it was only the Father who showed him who he was; the Son of God rather than a good man; or a prophet as others stated. This revelation is distinctly given to God's chosen people; so that the real glory of God cannot be appreciated among the unregenerate. It should be remembered also that we will rule and reign with Christ over the earth (in the Millennium over natural men); as well as all eternity.

We were created originally in the image of God; now we are more accurately in the "image of Adam" until saved and now in the image of Christ. We will be like the angels someday; with a resurrected body able to do things like Christ (probably referring in Joel to such who are part of God's army climbing walls; and being unhurt). We must remember our earthly existence is a mere shadow of what is yet to come.

This verse clearly has different interpretations. The simple answer is that eventually; with our new bodies in heaven we will be healed completely physically. Obviously; Christ did heal anyone He chose to during His earthly ministry as He had the Spirit without limit. In one sense; we would have to say that although healing from spiritual death comes upon a believer once he is "sealed with the Spirit" (Ephesians); we are as Romans indicates in a body of death; and only the Lord can rescue us from that totally when He comes. Until then; as Hebrews 9:27 states we are all to die once then face the judgment. (Exception for now with Enoch and Elijah). Healings today; therefore are debated as to whether they are genuine; and certainly if medically they can be proven don't stop the ultimate process of death (as Lazarus no doubt passed on at some point after being raised from the dead). Certainly there are benefits to having our spiritual house in order; as well as having a sound mind; and emotions through the controlling influence of the Holy Spirit. Our sins certainly directly or indirectly contribute to premature aging and destruction. A few cases seem genuine; but again there are some spontaneous healings which seem to occur among nonbelievers. As with any spiritual gifts; God gives it "severally" as Corinthians states; Paul said he would have us to seek all gifts; but even with tongues; he would prefer one clear statement rather than many words; and without interpretations this can be done in a disorderly way which was warned against. God uses who He will; and no one should also name a "healing" ministry after themselves; as though they are a mutually exclusive group who the Lord will use to perform such things. We should keep in mind Christ's eternal scar on His resurrected body that is unique on His hands and feet; as a reminder of what He endured for His own. Surely these will not hurt Him anymore; but shows our deliverance from death and hell.

What verses tell us when we go to heaven if we will recognize and be with the ones we loved on earth
  • Richard H Priday - In Reply - 3 years ago
God has always used foreign nations to accomplish His will. The captain of the guard as well as Nebuchadnezzar himself both declared that because of disobedience all these things were happening to Israel. We shouldn't forget that God used the exile of Daniel and his three associates to bring the leader of Babylon to saving faith. These promises were prophetically directed to Moses as curses for disobedience along with every type of plague (famine and pestilence); the contrast was being blessed with children; livestock; and health as well as victory over all enemies. Satan himself clearly is used to do the will of God as is every calamity (as Job states God creates all good and evil). Satan needed permission from God to do what he wanted and God once again used it to test Job and use him as an example as all scripture is used for instruction in that way. Again; the final end is sealed for Satan and all the angels that fell with him. This is used as a test to purge God's people and attain rewards for martyrdom and not denying Christ's name. Satan has legal authority only on the unregenerate; as well as believes who have allowed sin to compromise their spiritual armor. Looking at the life of Christ; Judas was prophesied in Psalms to be the friend who betrayed Christ; and all his descendants were to be cursed of this "son of perdition". God will use Antichrist to draw all those who did not LOVE the truth and all those NOT written in the Book of Life to follow and worship him; and believe the Lie (Thessalonians). This will fully separate the tares from the wheat; who likewise are all drawn as all those the Father has predestined to be saved are "given" to the Son. Man can be redeemed while angels can't. God can't tempt anyone; but He can use Satan's influence to accomplish His purposes; as well as chastising all those He loves; even teaching them lessons through their sins. Great are the mysteries of God who works all things according to His purposes

The young maids wise suggestion was not hers . Give God the glory . Elisha the prophet of the God of Israel told Naaman what to do and it didn't say in the law of Moses that someone with leprosy was to bathe seven times in the Jordan River . All this came from Elisha , therefore it game from God , give God the glory and thanks . Always .If I am wrong in any of this I apologise , I just go by what it actually says in the Bible .

Ezekiel chapters 38 & 39 is about the protection & restoration of Israel. And this God does is such manner (i.e. bringing down the countries against Israel), so that both Israel & her enemies will know that it is the Lord Who has done this ( Ezekiel 38:16; Ezekiel 39:28). We are not told when all this will happen - no doubt when Anti-Christ is in power & both he & those with him (the enemy nations) come against Israel. But God will have the final say in their destruction in the Valley of Megiddo & the preservation of Israel. God can indeed use anything or anyone He chooses to bring about His purposes. And we know that all His Works are done in righteousness & true justice. No nation in that day can argue to the contrary.

The Bible is like a text book or a manual . If u were reading a manual in order to build a garden shed , u wouldn't expect that manual to contain irrelevant extraneous information , u would expect everything in the manual to b pertinent to what u r building . The Bible is the same . Nothing is extraneous , it's all pertinent . This means Old and New . The Bible is our manual for life , in this world and the world to come . And it fits together perfectly . Unlike any garden shed I have ever built .

I do find it strange that so many people on this site don't seem to make the connections between the Old and New Testaments . The Old is a foreshadow of the New I believe . A good understanding of the Old definately enhances our understanding and appreciation of the New . Jesus understood and believed the Old and he is represented in all the Old Testament books . Maybe I'm being harsh and I'm underestimating the Christians on here , if so , I apologise profusely . May God open all of our eyes and ears and hearts and minds so that no matter how much we think we know we can always know more about our God and our Saviour and draw closer to them . I include myself of course , I am always open to learn more and I know that there will always b more for me to learn .

I just wanted to add something to the Trinity.....That some folks don't see.....It was Moses that built the Ark of the

Covenant....but he didn't build it according to anymans plans or designs.....God told Moses SEE said HE that you make

All things according to what was shown you when you were on the Mount with God..... Exodus 25 : 18 And inside the most holy place above the mercy seat were the 2 Cherubim OF GLORY And the Father dwelt between them....thus we see 3 ..All this was in a tent.....God does not share his GLORY with anybody or anything.....Thus these 2 CHerubim wd have to be related to God as Sons.....Just as Abraham dwelt in tents with ISAAC and JACOB his Sons that partook of the same Promise....This is the Abrahamic trinity......Father Son and Granson.....Abraham issac and Jacob.....And the great Promise

of multiplication was only made to these 3 Men, But when God swore by his very self in Gen. 22 : 15 & 16 It included the

heavenly Kingdom of the Son and the H.G the Granson ..... The Heavenly Trinity.....God wanted his own Israel a perfect Israel that is gonna become as the Stars of Heaven.....THese are the Children of the Kingdom his Good seed that are gonna be sown in humanity.......The new covenant that will make everyone righteous via a birth of his good seed b/c of his death ......An Israel of God......Of Jew and Gentile a like.....God so loved the world right.

.......He took of the twain ( Jew and Gentile ) and made 1 newman which is the H.G. The Child of Promise......Our new innerman....Our new heart and new spirit that is the new Creature.....Jesus said they will bring forth things new and old

outa of their hearts.....The new IS HE IS OUR NEW INNERMAN THE H.G.......The OLD IS HE WAS WITH GOD B/F THE WORLD WAS.....He was in the ARK of the COVENANT...He was 1 of the Cherubim ty Jesus.....Yo le doy gracias para el Spirtu Santo mi Padre.

The advice that Naaman received , was not from the female servant , it was from the prophet Elisha , who was a prophet of God for sure . So really the advice was devine . V 13 of 2nd Kings Ch 5 is very significant I think . Could it possibly relate to us in any way ? The whole chapter is a foreshadow of the new covenant in Christ I believe . The gentiles , of which Naaman was one , r permitted to receive direct intervention from the God of Israel . Previously God was only considered to b the God of Israel .
