    Rich,

I don't believe a truly saved person can ever lose their salvation. The book of Hebrews was written to the Hebrews, Jewish people. They were following along, partaking of the truth, but never really surrendered their lives to Christ. It's not talking about a saved person walking away and giving up their salvation.

These Hebrew people were being enlightened to the truth, but when the time came for them to make a decision to surrender their lives to Christ, they would turn and walk away because it was a difficult decision for them. If a Jewish person surrenders their life to Christ, it would cost them everything. Their family would disown them, they would lose their jobs, and they would even be kicked out of the temple.

You see, they were being enlightened, but they were not saved. They made the decision to walk away because surrendering to Christ would cost them everything. So the verses in Hebrews are not talking about a saved person losing their salvation.

The writer says in Hebrews 6:4, for it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and the word enlightened means to have your mind illuminated to the truth. An enlightened person doesn't necessarily mean that person is saved. There are some who say that only believers can be enlightened. But John 1:9 tells us that the light, who is Christ, enlightens every man coming into this world. Every person is enlightened to the truth. So everybody gets enlightened but not everybody responds in the same way.

Secondly: and have tasted of the heavenly gift. They've participated with the things of Christ. They have participated with the Holy Spirit. They don't have Him living inside, but they tasted of that heavenly gift that God gives to His people. They're sitting in amongst God's people and they're participating and they're receiving.

I'm running out of space but will continue:

You are actually in error. You are proclaiming submitting to the Lord gets your name in the book of life but this is wrong. When they asked Peter what they needed to do to be saved he plainly told them "repent". If you would like to talk further about it we should start here.

Could you please explain your understanding of the following verses.

    17. Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

    18. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

    Darren,

I used to listened to HWA on The World Tomorrow occasionally as a boy. Interesting. Just didn't square with The Bible.

Interestingly, Jews have maintained their identity over the millennia. There were Jews hearing Peter's sermon from all over the world

"Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God." Act 2:9-11

These were very probably Jews who never returned after the Assyrian and Babylonian captivities. Some of those, perhaps most, took The Gospel back to their homes as New Covenant believers.

Jews are back in Israel, but not in belief. There's little doubt that God has His hand of protection on this little foothold that will, when they turn to God, stretch from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:

"But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more." Jer 31:33-34

This is not Britain and the US.

    To Rick Mentzer.

Adam and Eve's bodies went in the earth to replenish it within 1000 years. God said "the day you eat, you shall surely die."

2 Peter 3:8 shows a day to God is a 1000 years. This means no man or woman will live to a 1000 years. Adam died at 930 years old, he was 70 years short of a full day. This 70 years is where we today come to fulfill. God shortened the lifespan of man twice; 70-120 years.

So God is correct, Adam and Eve died in a day. There is a lot more I could say on this but to avoid boredom, I'll keep it short. God bless you

(The Firmament.) O Israel, why do ye rest so dangerously in the weaver's web of falsehood? Why do you continue to trust in his lies? Know ye not that I, even I, the LORD your GOD, searched out all things in the earth beneath: even the sky above the firmament which is as a globe of hardened glass? Why must you delight in oppression? Who do you desire to prove? Know ye not, O Israel, that I endured the cross for your sakes: And that you are my children for ever, and are my beloved? Your secrets have you kept according to my commandment. I have given you secrets to reveal them to you: so that you can know that I AM the LORD your GOD. I AM your Saviour. Many spirits of the Gentiles have I knitted into my body in waiting for your awakening, O Israel. They now see my salvation and my mercy. The time is come that you too shall see, that the blindness be past: as it is the last time and the fruits of righteousness shall come forth. You shall see that I AM the LORD your GOD and that my mercy has no end. You have seen my doctrine, that was never leaked, as it was hidden in my heart. O Israel, you have given place to your idolatry in the earth beneath: but must you also pollute the heavens above with your imagery? know ye not that you are now in the midst of all evil? The oppressed have no good seed left in them as they are reconciled to GOD. The wicked fill that corrupt flesh as they deceive you in every way, in every place. Return to me O children: put off the way of evil and confess that JESUS CHRIST is the LORD your SAVIOUR to the saving of your souls: repent now and be reconciled to GOD in the peace of eternal life through JESUS your KING.

I am not aware of any Apostle named Grace. This is a pride of man trying to exalt him or her self. Apostles are the only ones in the Bible. Humble yourself and repent of this thing. God bless you

As i witness to people I am finding more and more people who think they have lost their salvation, both young and old from homeless to elderly and most read the bible or say they do, they all without exception bring up the book of Hebrews, willfully sinning after knowing the truth or Esau about finding no repentance it is heartbreaking to see the pain in the eyes of some of these people. I think maybe some can't forgive themselves, some almost cause me to change my way of thinking because i struggles with some of those issues this is a tough subject and affects many more people than i thought. I could use some help with this subject so when i see them again.

It was the spirit of God that acted through Saul in order to accomplish this victory over the Ammonites vs.6. Saul even acknowledge this fact in vs.13.

Lesson: Always acknowledge God's help, privately and/or publicly, in all our victories. We should never seek to praise ourselves and boast because without God, we are nothing. Same with salvation, we can not get ourselves saved whenever we feel like. The 3 parts of God's salvation plan is all the work of God and God alone. Part 1: Who are chosen. Part 2: Who paid for sins. And part 3: Who will resurrect the dead. GOD AND GOD ALONE. God bless you

Gen 44 now Joseph is an Egyptian it is an abomination to to eat with Hebrews. Nevertheless Joseph held no ill will against hi brothers for it was the will of God for him to go through 2 accomplish what God had planned for his life. This should teach us how to love and forgive. God loved us so much that He gave his only son and forgave us our sins so that we could be reconciled back to the Father.

We have to give an account of all the idle or useless words we say, is this for the saved or the unsaved? There have been many times i have spoken out in anger, even when something inside was telling me to be quiet i have given in but afterwards i usually regret it. What about things we have said to ourselves, say someone spreads a rumor about you or a friend or even says something that was told in confidence and you say things you shouldn't have in the car on the way home.

Humble yourself before Him and ask Him for forgiveness, repent, and walk forward with Him. It's as simple as that.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

It's analogy for the violent taking of Babylon. The whole chapter details the attack. God makes no bones about His disdain for Babylon, and makes sure it never resurfaces again. Revelation 18 celebrates the fall of Babylon, like I do, so I'm not sure what your point is, or how it smears God's reputation.
  • D W L on Galatians 3 - 4 years ago
The word (preach) means teach. There were 13 apostles, there were 70 sent by Jesus not one woman. There are many great women then and now. The word said a woman is not to teach or have authority over the man. That can't be changed by opinion. It (THE WORD) don't say they can't worship, sing, wash Jesus feet, teach the young woman, and help their husband.

God bless you Skip. Your work is excellent, unexpected and means a lot to me, thank you. Let me give you my brief run down to round things off:

-The house of Israel was taken into Assyrian captivity 721 BC (-2520 years) = 1800, at the height of the British empire = Ephraim, who Jacob said would come 1st. His older brother Manasseh (America) came out of Ephraim as God promised. These 2 boys, US/UK, are the lead tribes from the house of Israel, the birthright people from Gen 48. They became "a nation and a company of nations" (UK), and a single "Great nation" (US).

-The house of Judah was taken into Babylonian captivity 604 BC (-2520 years) = 1917, on the EXACT day and hour the Balfour declaration was signed, 11/2/1917!!! How is that for prophesy unfolding?

There is a book called "United States and Great Britain in Prophesy" by Herbert Armstrong. It was the single most fascinating book I've read that uses the Bible to define itself. That's how I became interested in the prophets.
  • David on Revelation 18:21 - 4 years ago
I see this statement as a attempt by the authors to once again smear gods reputation. the millstone could simply be a natural occurrence creating extreme destruction. The earth's processes take president over human life, its not always the wrath of God punishing people for their sin; with out a planet one can not have a human form of existence. possibly this verse is simply a colorful prediction. A proud statement like this makes it sound as if the angel is causing this destruction and somehow Gods at fault. furthermore verse 21:18 could be a distraction, a radical attempt to decrease the real trueness and impact of the chapters depth. No one knows the heart of God. If this statement was a clear vision from the creator the author would not have used the word "like" when describing this perception. these literary detours are common throughout the scriptures, don't be fooled, Martin Luther wasn't perfect...
