In Acts 4:6 I saw something I had not previously seen and that was the names John and Alexander. It was written like these men were commonly known at the time, and I was wondering what I had 'missed' all these years in reading Acts every year. Thank you.

You were nearly there :) Try Psalm 22:3. Though this refers to Israel yet it too is our experience, when we "offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name." ( Hebrews 13:15).

I have been taught that God inhabits our praise. As I get references tp Psalms 23:3 yet I can not find a translation that says that. Is there such a scripture?

    Gloria,

"We" depends on who you are, and the tithe only applies in the time

of Israel, for Israel. Today, the giving is not mandated to a

    particular percentage.

Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order

to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye. Upon the first day of the

week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered

him, that there be no gatherings when I come. 1Corinthians 16:1&2

"As God hath prospered", is your determination after your needs

    have been met.

    Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give;

not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

    2Corinthians 9:7

Salvation is never according to what you do for God, but instead,

what Jesus did for you on the cross. Salvation is never a law you

follow, but the grace of God you must accept."

We must not let this world take away our joy and our happiness these are hard times we live in but we must stay positive we must be happy and show love to others we have to stop the bitterness we have to stop the angry attitudes and hatefulness and show love to everyone

To learn that answer, one would need to go back a fair bit - back to Genesis chapter 37. You probably know the story, or can read about it from there, but in a nutshell, Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers to the Midianites who took Joseph into Egypt. When in Egypt, these slave traders sold Joseph to Potiphar, an officer to Pharaoh. Joseph served him faithfully except when Mrs. Potiphar accused Joseph of attempted rape & so Joseph also became a prisoner.

In time, Joseph, being blessed by God was called to interpret the Pharaoh's dream which resulted in Joseph being honoured with a high position & even given an Egyptian wife. Joseph was still a young man at 30 yrs of age when there was a general famine throughout, but Joseph had the wisdom to store up grain for such an occasion so even other countries round about came to him to buy grain. With that, Jacob, Joseph's father, sent his sons (Joseph's brothers) also to Egypt to buy food, & they didn't realize who they would have to deal with: their brother whom they sold into slavery. But Joseph forgave them their sin & even Pharaoh invited Joseph's family to move over to Egypt & settle there. However, Jacob was old & died & in time, Joseph himself died at 110 yrs of age & was buried in Egypt.

So Egypt became the home for Israel (= Jacob), but the old Pharaoh also died & a new Pharaoh came into power, "a new king that knew not Joseph" ( Exodus 1:8) & instead of continuing to enjoy freedom & prosperity in Egypt, all the children of Israel became slaves to the Egyptians & even harder bondage. But God still had a plan to free Israel from bondage, so Moses comes onto the scene, even avoiding death as a baby by God's providence. And you know the rest of the story.

I pray that you kindly reference me in your daily prayers under the below attacks:

    1. My Financial are at serious risk from the devil. I spend uncontrollably on Alcohol with friends, which is not yielding me any good results. I want to wholly desist from intoxication and return to my Lord furthermore.

    2. My spiritual life is getting weaker by the days. I pray that God restores my strengths to know his word and his manifestation.

    Hello,

Mainly because it makes me feel bad when people condemn each other over this. Do you find anything false in it? So my post is an example of why there are 200 denominations in Christianity? Well I guess you can blame it on me. If anything I posted offended you, forgive me my brother. I apologize.

Hi, I have always believed in God but lost my way because my mum who was a Christian died when I was just 7 years old. So Dad stopped taking me to Sunday school etc. I always had lots of spiritual experiences and only now it becomes clearer than ever to me that it was because I didn't know the bible ( except for stories and hyms from childhood etc) I was always intrigued by the super natural and had gotten caught up in new age stuff having no idea what so ever how the new age era was demonic! I could never understand how using white magic to call my lost cat home or reading Angel cards etc could be evil.... how deceived I was. I had some supernatural experiences early in 2020 when I feel that jesus really saved me after I had really yucky experiences that I see more clearly as deception.

Anyway luckily I believed in jesus after my daughter was born in 2012. I do wonder if God sent her to save me because she was born on 7 th of the 12 weighing 7 Ib 12 I didn't know at the time 7 is God's number. When she was a baby was when I started to delve into my confusion as to whom jesus was... Was he a real person that existed? Just learning about how he was crucified was enough for me to believe in him because I could understand how some of humans are so evil. I never understood fully how he was is in physical form and alive until recently though after studying passages from the bible etc

I have had communication that I believe was God and made me feel so elated and was the most amazing experience ever.

However I struggle with spiritual attack, please can you advise which prayers and how should I pray everyday to please and serve God? I have used psalm 91 successful y but am not sure which prayers I should use everyday

You're quite correct, the accounts of Saul's recognition of David appears strange, since he had seen David & was even close to him. And King James had nothing to do with this apparent aberration.

Some reasons are given: that Saul in his first encounter with David was when he was in a state of an oppressing evil spirit. He called for David to minister to him with harp music so we know that in spite of this affliction, he recognized David. But when Saul saw David at a later occasion (during & after the victory he had with Goliath), that Saul failed to recognize David & Abner probably wasn't aware of him either. Maybe this had something to do with the effect of the evil spirit upon him which would disturb & rattle his mind & memory.

It's also suggested that David's appearance may have changed, whether in clothing (shepherd's gear or that of a warrior) or being a little older than when Saul first saw him & Saul couldn't easily discern who this young guy was. We can't be sure from the passages given, but we shouldn't assume some error in transmission as we simply don't have the full account of Saul's position & condition. We have to accept this account as given, as we have to do with so many other accounts in the Bible, & formulate an understanding based on what we know, yet we should not attempt giving a 'full' story which may be mixed with personal ideas.

Today there was a wreck that killed a mom and two little boys very close to where I live. Their sister and Dad were at home. Pray for that family and bring them peace and healing in this horrific time. Also pray for the driver of the other vehicle and that God will touch him and be with him.

What was the purpose of writing this message? We all know that there is one God. We should never debate the Godhead. Only through the Holy Spirit can it be shown the Oneness of God rather than a triune God that most people believe in this world. This is just one example why we have over 200 denominations under the umbrella of Christianity. Having over 200 denominations is not of God. There is only 1 truth. Jesus is the head of the church. How did we get to this place? Let this mind be in you that was also in Christ Jesus --- This was created by man's wisdom.

Note: Water can exist in three forms: Solid, liquid and gas. What is common among these forms -- They all contain 2 hydrogens and 1 oxygen. But we don't call them by different names. Why? Because its still water.

Another example --- The disciples in the book of Acts baptized in the name of Jesus Christ; this fulfilled the scriptures that Jesus told them to baptize in the 'name' of the Father, and of the Son and the Holy Spirit..... What name should we baptize in? The 12 disciples who became apostles baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Is this a coincidence? No. The Holy Spirit revealed to them the Oneness of God. When you're not baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, your sins have not been remitted (forgiven).

Just a couple verses I came across for you about a good wife. In Ecclesiasticus 26

1 Blessed is the man that hath a virtuous wife, for the number of his days shall be double.

2 A virtuous woman rejoiceth her husband, and he shall fulfil the years of his life in peace.

3 A good wife is a good portion, which shall be given in the portion of them that fear the Lord.

There are several options available in KJBOnline, including on How to be saved. You'll find these under the "More" Tab. There are options for Reading the Bible through in a year, a Bible Dictionary, etc. Not sure what you meant by "doctrines all over the place" unless you're referring to our discussions that bring out various people's opinions on what's written in the Bible.

Lou, the RCC view of the Lord's Supper or Sacrament is a little complicated. What was a simple meal shared together in the Upper Room by the Lord & His disciples, or when the early Church observed as a meal during which time a remembrance of the Lord was made, has now been modified & re-interpreted in other ways. Those not of the RCC view the Lord's Table as simply a memorial 'feast' to remember the Lord's Sacrifice through the emblems which denote His broken Body & shed Blood.

To the Roman Catholic, the Sacrament is substantially much more. It essentially involves the Presence of Christ & the transmission of the Grace of Christ. Though RCs are able to support these with Scriptures, it becomes a case of how the Scriptures are given & meant to be understood. The same with the Apostle Peter as being the first pope, from whom the papal line succeeds.

You're correct, that each time the Eucharist is celebrated, Jesus is crucified (a renewed sacrifice) as the bread & wine are materially changed, though unobserved, into Christ's Body & Blood. And through this act & belief, fresh grace (indeed grace upon grace) is also transmitted whereby the person is brought into a state of belief that the more he can get of Christ, will be for his greater spiritual blessing & absolution of sins. Your observance of such a belief as being rife with errors is correct. When one sees other facets of the RCC, with its robed priests, incense burning, statues, rosary & many more, they suggest the need of much paraphernalia to bolster or support faith & adoration. However, as we come to God in faith, it must be evident that our faith must be sufficient to approach God, to speak to Him, to expect of Him, to be accepted of Him. Anything else added to this negates faith & brings in 'works', which is incompatible to (justification through) faith & a walk & worship in faith.

Romans 6:9,10, "For in that he died, he died unto sin ONCE: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God." Hebrews 7:24-27.

Show me a verse in the Bible where the deity of Christ has any importance?

The Jews called Jesus a blasphemer for saying he is the son of God , but for a trintarian that's not good enough ! Go figure .

Jesus is the Son of God , if that was really understood then the trinity doctrine would be recognized for what it is . Unbiblical at least .

Hello Nicole, I've been a Christian for over 30 years now and I do slip up from time to time. And I too have backslidden. It was a terrible feeling and we do feel separated from God when we're not walking according to his will.

We'll never be perfect until we go to heaven. We will never reach sinless perfection while on this earth, however, we can strive to follow the teachings of Jesus christ. I would like to encourage you to take baby steps in following after Jesus.

Remember that God says that he remembers that we're made of the dust and he has compassion for us.

I know as for me, I always feel better when I read my Bible, and when I listen to worship music, especially the old hymns which are taken right out of the Bible.

And try to take care of yourself and your health through natural means, especially a healthy diet which has a lot to do with how we feel emotionally. If you can, try to get away from the pharmaceutical drugs. the word pharmaceutical is derived from the word pharmacia, which is rooted from the original Greek word meaning sorcery. if you think about it, you cannot drug your body into good health. All natural supplements are really the way to go.

Also, it sounds like you need to forgive yourself. As for me, that's one of the hardest things I've had to do as a Christian, and so I understand the struggle. Forgive yourself, it's the best thing that you can do in moving forward with your life, and accept God's forgiveness. He is merciful and compassionate. He loves you and he does not want to see you suffer as you are.

God bless you, you're in my prayers.

Hello, I understand your frustration and concern about prayers going unanswered. I have often come across the same situation and wondered the same thing. I recently came across a teaching called "Operating in the courts of heaven" by Robert Henderson. I don't believe he's a KJV person, however, the principal he teaches I believe is very profound.

He explains that we as Christians have been taught that when we pray it's like entering a battlefield, however, in reality there is a real courtroom in heaven in which we bring our prayers and petitions to.

If you think about it, there is a battle so to speak going on either in a courtroom or on the battlefield, however, the approach would be much different in each scenario.

I highly recommend that you listen to his four part CDs if you can. He also has written some books which I have ordered but not yet had a chance to read.

I myself have changed the way I pray and I'm expecting better results because of it.

Our whole Christian walk is a learning process, for sure. As a Christian for 30 + years now, one important thing I learned is that people do have their own free will, and of course God will not force people, but he can still work in their lives to a certain point.

I'm praying for you, God bless you.
  • Chris - In Reply on Ecclesiastes 1 - 5 years ago
I understand what you're saying, Dianne. We can indeed just put forward the Scriptures to each other, as answers to their questions, & leave it that. That's of course a very good start as it's only from God's Word that we read & learn. Yet properly understanding what is given by way of Bible study, preaching, etc. is necessary to help us learn more about the writer, the background, from the original texts, Scriptural comparisons, etc. Some may find this unnecessary, but I value it so that I can better understand the context that Scripture has been written in. Or else, our pastors would have a very short 3 minute message to give, if they only gave the title of their message & asked us to write down relevant Scriptures to take home & allow only the Bible to speak to us & not him. Maybe our Churches should consider adopting that style. Would it be useful though?
