As you started to read Hosea chapter 4, you would have noticed the extensive list of sins mounted against Israel & that certain judgement & destruction would follow. So in verse 5, the thought is that this judgement will fall upon the individual, the prophet (presumably those who falsely prophesied), & the mother (a reference to the whole nation, who mothered them). In verse 6, God speaks to this 'mother', that "He will (altogether) forget her children".

Yes, the priests are the focus here, as those who should have given out the knowledge of God through His Laws, thereby bringing restraint by the people towards such rampant sin, but failed to do so. As a result, both man & his land will be destroyed (taken away into Assyrian captivity) as punishment when they should have rather come to their senses & enjoyed the full blessings of God. How much we also deny ourselves by not following hard after the Lord by giving Him second place in our lives, when we have all the blessings of Heaven at our disposal & enjoyment.

Thank you Dianne: I'll accept that as given. I do tend to speak (or write), with 'absolution' or rather, a firm conviction because I've had to deal with many of these issues myself, have had to study them & sometimes deliver a message on them. One has to have a firm conviction, yet if that is opposed (which is the proper thing to do at times), then the response needs to also be given from the Word with equal conviction, so that it may be properly considered. I have to admit that at times, an answer given me has stumped me & required me to search further in the Word.

Often, I've wished that folk would follow through with a 'why I believe my view is correct' based on critical examination of Scripture, but I know that time & knowledge may not be available to them. But I do enjoy searching the Scriptures with my brothers & sisters in Christ here on this Site - I think we are benefited in our study & consideration of them & one another's views. Blessings.

"(So) your saying the early church didn't know who or what they worshipped even Paul."

No, I'm not saying that. The apostles, including Paul, certainly did know the true God, even as Jesus revealed Him to them. In very truth, "He that hath seen Me hath seen the Father" ( John 14:9), Jesus had not only declared to them who God was but that He, Jesus, was the human personification of God Himself.

So can we assume that the God on His Throne in Heaven physically looked just like Jesus? Not so, for God is Spirit & none on Earth has seen Him, bar His Son. But Jesus presented to His apostles & those around, all of the Mind, the Nature, the Will, the Plans, the Holiness, the Love & Justice of God. How could He do this? Because He said, "I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father." ( John 16:28)

We can't force this Scripture to mean that Jesus came into existence because of God's Plan for Redemption, because the Greek for "I came forth (from the Father)" is 'exelthon', which means 'to go or to come out of'. And when Jesus says, "and am come into the world" the Greek here is different, 'elelutha' or 'to come, to go'. So He came 'out of the Father' to be sent (or, go) into the world. And then He says, "I leave the world, and go to the Father". Now the word is 'poreuomai' which means, 'to go or to travel'. And this implies not only his leaving the world physically, but His entrance back into Heaven, from whence He came, was not into the singular unity of the Godhead, but as a Man Who would be worshipped beside the Father, yet never losing His divinity to Him. In other words, if Jesus just came to Earth as the Word of God to men (as was spoken by the prophets) & returned to Heaven, logic says that He would have returned back into the Unity of God - just as the Holy Spirit, who is only Spirit, comes to us & goes to Heaven in the same Divine Form.

Both Paul & the Church knew the Deity of Christ & preached it.

Diane, I'm unsure where your question is leading to, but to answer simply: the disciples of Jesus ( Matthew 10:1-4) later were referred to as apostles. A disciple essentially is a student, particularly to a Master, Rabbi, etc. where in his 'raw' state is brought into further knowledge of the prescribed Truth & by the witness of the life of the Master. An apostle is "a sent out one" or a messenger, who then takes what he has learned to teach others also & in the case of Christ's apostles, to deliver the life-saving, life-changing Gospel.

You asked, "In the apostalic line where is paul peter john james luke ?" Peter, John, James & another 9 were disciples & apostles, with Paul coming later, "as one born out of due time" ( 1 Corinthians 15:8). Then folk such as Luke & most likely others who were not part of the 'inner circle' (the 12), were also 'ad hoc' disciples who doubtless pursued their careers but spent time with the Lord to learn of Him. So when the last of the apostles (John) died, the apostolic line ended, though in a sense, an apostolic work can & does continue today, as we who have also learned from the Lord, the writings of the apostles & the sages of our time, can confidently go out & share what we have learned. Of course, without having the privilege of having the apostles around to question them further on doctrines, etc., our Churches & indeed, our beliefs, will always remain divergent, e.g. on the Trinity, the Second Coming, Law & Grace, etc.

I don't understand why people want to condemn others who believe in God a certain way. We all worship the same God. There is only one true God and only one way to God. Through His Son Jesus Christ. Who was a free gift from our Father to pay for our sins. Having faith and giving yourself to Jesus Christ is the most important thing.

There is only one God our Father. Should we not honor the Son as we honor the Father? Like we're told. Does not Jesus Christ have all the power and authority of the Father? Given to Him by the Father. I myself don't believe Jesus Christ is God the Father but that the Father is in Him and He in the Father. I also believe in the deity of Christ that He was with the Father before He came to earth. Like He says. Can I explain all this? No. That's what I believe and it all came to me through the Holy Bible.

A couple verses showing God the Father is not Jesus Christ:

Matthew 26:39 And He went a little further, and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from Me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

John 8:17-18, 17 It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true.

18 I am one that bear witness of Myself, and the Father that sent Me beareth witness of Me.

Hebrews 5:5 So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, today have I begotten thee.

Hebrews 9:24 For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us

( 2 Peter 1:17-18, 17 For He received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to Him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

18 And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with Him in the holy mount.

Why can't some believe in two, plus the Holy Ghost, which is three in this new covenant? One God.

I'm sorry to read of your sad loss but to know that your husband loved the Lord, and is now his present joy & your comfort & assurance.

The best Scripture that I can think of, considering your husband's connection with the sea, is in Psalm 107:23-30. Even though the Psalm may seem irrelevant to some extent, the thought that whether going through physical storms (which your husband would be well acquainted with), or even the 'storms' that we all have to face in life, that the Lord will bring His children to their safe haven (add, Heaven) at the end of our lives.

Hebrews 6:18,19 (loosely transliterated): "God has given both his promise and his oath. Since God cannot lie, we who have fled to Him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold onto the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. This hope leads us through the veil that was torn down at Jesus' death into God's inner sanctuary. Jesus has already gone into Heaven for us. He has become our eternal High Priest". My husband (his name), had his hope resting only in His Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ; Christ was his sure anchor as he both sailed the high seas and throughout his life. And now that Anchor (Jesus Christ) Who was held on in faith throughout his life has now become his sight, as he stands in great joy before his God and Saviour.

    Other useful Scriptures: Romans 8:35-39; John 11:25-27; Revelation 21:3-7; 1 Corinthians 15:51-57; John 14:1-3.

I hope something here helps you & will reflect the hope & joy that your husband had in the Lord. May the Lord continue to comfort your heart by His Spirit & His precious Word.

Please please pray for my daughter, she and her husband have a 18, mounts old baby boy! They are married but sleeping with other people. They are also practicing with buddhism. And they smoke marijuana every day. I feel so torn disappointment I have no idea what are you doing this to my grandson. I am praying for a moment like Saul has on the road to Damascus for them to change their way of life. Please agree with me in prayer for them. I know God has to do something Justic for them to turn their lives around because they're in the far country I need a wake up call from God. Thank y'all in Jesus name. My other daughter is staying in our house with me and my husband she's very disrespectful I almost put her out but she refused to apologize to my husband he has done so much for her but she's very ungrateful because she has turned away from God herself. So there is a lot of wrestling against principalities and powers of this dark age. I do need God to intervene on our behalf I'm praying I am praying for their salvation I'm from them to turn away the darkness of this world.

Chris there are things you assume I think that I do not therefore best thing for me to do is say God bless and move on to a different topic. Just remember I never state my thoughts or opinion or this is it, but Gods word should fit perfectly in all categories, and it does as originally given with the apostle paul everywhere he Preached Christ and deliverance available individuals came right behind and talked people out of it, which is why we have the church epistles and the same arguments today what did Paul really mean hense denominations which will not be made perfect until the church is taken up.

True, the actual word rapture doesn't appear in the bible but the words "caught up" to meet the Lord in the air is definitely there. "Caught" in Greek means [to seize, pluck, pull, take by force, to take for oneself, prefer, choose, to raise]

To me this means we will definitely be taken by force to meet Jesus in the air. 1 Thes 4:16,17 ; Matt 24:40 ; Luke 17:34,35. This happens before the tribulation period of 3.5 yrs and is not the 2nd coming. The mark of the beast happens during the tribulation period.

Rapture in Webster's dictionary means to be carried away by emotion. Very similar so maybe this is where the word originates from.

Mark 1:2-3 (KJV) As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.

The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

Isaiah 40:3-5 - The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.

Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:

And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
