  • Julia on 1 Peter 5 - 4 years ago
Hi, I'm looking for a prayer to help me get back with God to keep building a strong Bond with God. I have fornicated with the devil, meaning he (doesn't believe in God) at all, and my boyfriend and I have an open relationship.. anyways it all makes it all worse because I was reading the word of God. And not only that but my bfs uncle just happened to talk about what would happen if I would cheat or whatever.. and he said that God will punish me 2x as much. Anyways I'm so upset. And no one will pray for me, I prayed for myself to God but I know he's not proud, of course he'll forgive me but it's just sad to know no one will pray for me, and I need it desperately. And good news after all that I have done I will be marrying my BF in 2 weeks because I rather be married and commit then to burn in hell. Thank you.

Rick, I believe that the early Church had elevated Jesus Christ to the "level of God". We might not see it in their writings as the Bible doesn't reveal what the Church actually preached to Christians, but shows us what the apostles taught them or on what issues they were taken to task over. So assuming that what the apostles believed & taught through their epistles, we have many Scriptures that confirm that the Godhead includes Jesus His Son.

    Some of them are: 1 Corinthians 8:6; Colossians 1:15-17; Colossians 2:9; 1 John 5:7; Philippians 2:5-8.

But if you're referring to the early Church after the close of the apostolic era, then I can send you some quotes from the likes of Ignatius, Polycarp, Justin Martyr, Irenaeus, Tertullian, etc. So this teaching on the Trinity is not something recent as we are led to believe or from the RCC, but the firm belief of the apostles, of the apostolic Church & the Church in the 3rd Century onwards. You may believe that Jesus was perfect in every way securing our salvation through a perfect Sacrifice, but if He wasn't God in the flesh, then our salvation remains on shaky ground: it had to be God Who gave up His Life for us in demonstration of that pure Divine Love - the provision of any other 'perfect Sacrifice', whether human or animal by God is no demonstration of Divine Love - only of a Divine Provision which could necessitate the need for further sacrifices (as was done in the OT). Jesus was the one & only Sacrifice that could fix man's inherent problem - if He failed, there would remain no other sacrifice available for God to give us.

Rick you state, "now in human birth the dominate genetics are on the fathers side, ie God created sperm in mary ie flesh and blood because God Almighty can do that is what made Jesus Christ the only begotten of God". Can I assume that you also believe that, with God's created (human) sperm, he used Mary's ovum to form this new Man? Or is there another possibility in your mind?

If so, what are the implications for the transmission of the sin nature to Jesus, given that a human seed (which carries the fallen nature) is passed onto children? Of course, some do believe that Jesus had a sin nature & the occasion of temptation by Satan was to cause Jesus to succumb to that nature & become a sinner & hence a failure to be a Redeemer. But I'm not sure of your position, since you believe that a fusing of a Divine Seed & a human seed was involved.

Rick you state: "now we look look up those words back in old testament actual translation is my God my God for this purpose was I kept or spared you tell me what makes more sense." This is regards to Matthew 27:46 & Psalm 22:1. Where did you learn this interpretation from as both the Gospel & the Psalm agree with each other?

Could it not be that in His Humanity, Jesus in agony cried out to His Father longing for that intimacy which He had before, but that the Father for the purpose of not taking away from the full impact of this Sacrifice, remained aloof & quiet. This would have been absolutely exceptional, extraordinary & devastating as Jesus always enjoyed intimacy with the Father, but now the Father was suddenly silent at a time that His Son needed Him most. I might be wrong with this understanding - how do you see it?
  • Jimers - In Reply on Deuteronomy 18 - 4 years ago
This faith and works thing comes up a lot over the years...... I do know one particular verse that says:

Faith without works is dead....... food for thought for sure. Of course then what is works...?

Works can be simply doing Gods word of something rather physical. Giving something to the poor can be works.

Getting up early after working late and going to church on Sunday morning can be works.

Of course works without faith --- would be very hard to have I suspect. An athiest can have works but without faith.
  • Jimers on 1 Corinthians 1 - 4 years ago
It appears, to me, the original disciples Jesus was with, had to sell everything and distribute to the poor and went out

effectively homeless. Apparently they must have lived with the believers a day or two here and there. They must have gone out two together... two men together and two women together.

Does anyone know if such a way still goes on like that today?

  • Rick Colombe on 2 Chronicles 29 - 4 years ago
Hezekiah put everything in order, as the people would return to God. Everything was in order with the Levite's, priests, and hundreds of burnt offerings. Through all this, nothing is mentioned of the Ark of the Covenant and the mercy seat. Am I missing something here? Had the Ark of God been taken somewhere? Please help me out here, so I can gain understanding. I thank you in Jesus.
  • Eric on Exodus 24 - 4 years ago
The chapter says they saw God and then we have people in the comments saying no they did not because seeing him means they will not survive. Then why would the book say that?

No one here knows for sure. All we have are the words spoken from testimony. We need to stop over analyzing and making further confusion.

  • Fred Scanlan - In Reply on John 6:66 - 4 years ago
Christ came to save the world from sin and death. In a the world you so heartily proclaim, is it not noteworthy to proclaim the salvation that is in the body of Christ. The signs of the times, you need not declare, all you have to do is look into the children's eyes. When a Christ centered lover of the gospel comes around Satan and all his angels flee! Reconciliation may be possible only if we live in the hope of his salvation. We do not know, nor the angels ,when the day shall be. Seems , the biggest problem I see, is that the church does not tell the whole story. It is like , they want you to keep coming back for more! Buy more books , make one think his works are more important then Jesus words!

God is talking about Israel in this verse, when he says he will heal their land.
  • Truth seeker on 1 John 4:15 - 4 years ago
If we believe that Jesus is the Son of God it's because God enables us to do that . It's not a mental convent only .

Many just can not understand that being the Son of God means that he comes from God and is of God and not of this world in a spiritual way , yet he was a true man by virgin birth . He was empowered by God in a way that was intimate and beyond any mans knowing of before . He demonstrated it so often , like walking on water , calming storms , going through walls , etc etc

He had a relationship with the father before the world because God is before the world was .

Truly the Son of God and empowered by God , and so much more , yet Still the Son of God and no more . God is still God the same as he always was and will be . Jesus is given the highest place at Gods right hand as Gods first Son .

Do not confuse who Jesus is , that could be another Jesus if you are not careful . The truth bears witness , we can know God and Jesus whom God is in by birth , and we can have this same fellowship

As Jesus prayed in the garden before his crucifixion.

Yes the devil try's to confuse who Jesus is and yet , God is still able to draw us to him . If God be for us who can be against us ? None .

Jesus is the Son of God .
  • S Spencer on Genesis 4 - 4 years ago
They also called Jesus son of David, Obviously the word son is often used different in scripture, I've seen where someone posted God is a spirit Jesus cant be God, Well using that same reasoning how can a spirit have a son?

The Jews insisted to Pilot that Jesus should be crusified instead of Barabbas who was pardoned who was the third person hat was crusified that day?
  • Truth seeker on Luke 4:3 - 4 years ago
The Devil said if you are "the son of God " notice he did not say if you are God ! Why is that ? Jesus would have rebuked the devil for the error as he always does . Turn these stones into bread , and Jesus rebuked the devil again and said Man lives By every word of God !

Oh but Jesus did not say my words . Why is that ? Because he is not God , but Gods son . And notice he was lead by the Holy Spirit , that God anointed him with why is that ?

Look closely to the scriptures and what is said and compare all scriptures, there can be no contradiction. These verses are very clear and so many many more .

Do not allow yourself to be tricked in to doctrines . Gods word is very clear .

I think today people comes up some way or another a point of view and go to the scripture to authenticate it, rather than first go to the scripture with openness of mind and let the Holyspirit reveal truth
