Do you believe that man has been making this change? When did this happen, since both the Holy Ghost & Holy Spirit are mentioned throughout Scripture? Or, maybe you sense that the 'Spirit' is in wider use than 'Ghost'? The word "Ghost" means 'Spirit' as you know, so it should not be a problem when either Name is used. What does trouble me, is the wide use of 'Holy' & being associated with other things, e.g. Holy cow/smoke/mackerel/Moses, etc. I do get quite disturbed by this. Do you?

Why do Christians continue to celebrate Christmas on December 25 when it is based on paganism? Why doesn't the church teach why That day was chosen as Jesus' birthday? The truth needs to be taught.

not sure but would this help just happening to be reading this last night.

Ecclesiastes 3:18 "I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts."

Ecclesiastes 3:19 "For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity. " Ecclesiastes 3:20 "All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again. " Ecclesiastes 3:21 "Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?"

Hi Alec, Sometimes the hardest people to forgive is ourselves, we know all too well our weakness and short comings, I haven't lived a life on drugs but can attest to a lot of short comings that I'm ashamed of and deserve the punishment of hell, but for as great a sinner that I am, I have a greater Savior that suffered on the cross for me, and all I need to do is repent and believe. When you look at the apostles, they spent three years with Jesus witnessing His preaching's and miracles, and yet when Judas betrayed Jesus, they were scattered, and Peter denied him three times. Just because we say that we're Christian and believe doesn't mean that we're not going to ever sin again, but when we do sin, we need to pray for forgiveness. I also believe that in times of doubt or weakness, that the Holy Spirit is there to comfort us and also to convict us through our conscience to keep us on the narrow road to the Cross. When you say you have the feeling of fear coming over you, maybe it's the Holy Spirit, telling you to come back to the Cross, count this as a blessing, because it sound like you're on the narrow road, and He wants to keep you there.

May God bless you on your journey.

Ephesians 2:8 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:"

Matthew 18:21 "Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?" Matthew 18:22 "Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven."

    Brother Mild Bill,

Thanks for your comments, but you're completely misinterpreting what I have written about our Lord Jesus - Jesus is God and besides Jesus there is none other. I believe you believe in the Trinity - a false doctrine. I believe Jesus is our God, Lord and Savior.

    .

Now tell me what you believe, if you don't mine.

First of all, if you feel the Lord calling you back, why would you be afraid to return? As it say's, we will all be judged and I have the same story behind me. It would be more fearful to never feel that call and stay in the world of sin than to return as did the prodigal son. This passage has tormented me too many times but the rest of scripture assures me that God is always ready to accept repentance.

    Robert Malit,

I've read your other posts and facination with the supernatural, so I know what it is that your find thrilling about Jesus. As Simon of Samaria was mistaken, you are also. You may will yourself to "live in his image", and dupe others to believe as you do, basically a Catholiscism teaching, but you need salvation by the grace of God, through the sacrifice of his son on the cross, and as of now, I see you enmeshed in a works based faith. Jesus is more importantly the Savior, who has paid in full the price for sinners to be saved. Not some model or simply a teacher with a method for us to enter heaven. Adding your work to his, means in effect, he has not done enough to pay for all your sins. Is that really what you believe?

Hi Marilyn, Sorry I think you gravely err There is no other Christianity and there is no other Gospel!! The way you present that anyone of the characters you mentioned could have been the unblemished lamb that take away the sins of the world right?
  • Alec Ford on Hebrews 10 - 5 years ago
    Hello

Can someone explain what is meant in vs 27 that fearful looking for judgement is? I can't seem to shake that feeling of not being forgiven or going to far. the writer was talking to Hebrews and is that the context we should take? If so how do I apply these lessons to my life. I have asked for forgiveness and know that i am forgiven but a feeling of fear comes over me at times and it is a scary one. Can someone who has backslidden and lived a life of a drug addict like myself come back and really find forgiveness I knew better so I am without excuse and deserve to be sent to hell, but I really feel the Lord calling me back, there are times I am bold like proverbs 28 says to be, but other times I am almost over come with a paralyzing fear.

Man is not evil from birth. Moses gave us two sets of Commandments and told us to teach them to our children and they will grow up and grow old and never depart from God. We are holy from birth and all people need to be taught how to remain holy. How can a person fall is they are not upright to begin with? How can a person depart from God if they are not with him to begin with? In 1 Cor. 10:8 we are told how we fall, "Neither let us commit fornication, as some...and fell in one day 23,000." They had to be upright before they fell. Many biblical characters are upright such as Noah, Job, Jacob, Jesus, and Abraham and others. They did not fall, because they did not commit fornication.

We need a Christianity that will teach all people how to not fall. On my website I explain that more fully.

    Mild Bill,

Thanks for your comments. I am not suggesting anything. I simply summarized what our Lord Jesus has done for us, as a man, not as God, model to follow so we can live in his image or likeness.

So, in verses one and two he is basically saying 'don't do charity to the poor just to increase your public image in front of your peers.' right? So, if you want to donate to the homeless don't go around tooting your own horn (bragging or boasting) to get people to think you're a good guy.

If so, then I am already falling short of God's glory. I did a good deed a while back and I went and told almost everyone about it. I suppose I should repent for this. Great lesson Jesus gave here.

Thank you, Chris! It was good to remember that David really didn't have a temple to go to (I didn't remember this detail). And really the church can serve us as a meeting place with God. I find then that there are two meeting places: externally, in the Church, and internally, in the secret of our hearts. Thank you for the answer, pray for me; God bless you!

    Davie Miller,

The second death is similiar to the first death, a separation. In the first death a person is removed from their body and our present position in the time/creation sense of "world". In the second death a person is sent to "outer darkness" apart from God for eternity. For a believer, the experience is eternally exhilarating and joyful. For someone who did not believe, there is torment simply because God is. You see, while here in this form of life, both believers and non-believers may neglect God in our thoughts, but once we leave here, God is never absent in our mind. When he really is in our hearts as Lord and Savior, we never lose our place in his heart, forever.

In verses 26 it reads let's make man in our image and verse 27 it reads God made man in his own image. What is meant by " our image" and " God's image"?
  • Mild Bill - In Reply on Romans 6 - 5 years ago
    Robert Malit,

Are you suggesting Jesus had something to repent of in baptism, he was born again? You also seem to misunderstand the distinction between his diety and humanity. As I pointed to in my previous post, you don't know everything, which God does. As believers are indwelt of the Holy Spirit, a potential of knowledge exists, but revelation is only of the will of God, the Sovereign of creation. Emulation of Jesus is a self-willed imitation "monkey see, monkey do" approach to what God has told us he is doing in our lives here on Earth, namely, changing our character, and thus the heart, to resemble Christ. Jesus is a superman, unique, then, now and forever. Would you also claim to be God? Which do you find most thrilling about Jesus, his supernatural powers or his personality? Yes, you could avoid answering by saying both.

How do we know what is true, and what is a lie? In a world full of lies, that represent one another's self interest and not the interest of all? After all, the weather channel does not always get it Right? The truth is, man is evil from his youth, there is nothing in him that is good! With these things in mind, where then should we be focused? Never put your confidence in man! Always look too the Cross knowing what you see their is real!!! Knowing all wisdom and knowledge will come from their! God is in control of all things. Satan 's desire is to deceive, it is the master of all lies! It has the ability to make things into light where there is none! The world is Satan's, He has no power more than God will give Him! As we get older, we become even more susceptible to his ways. Remember, strength is made perfect through weakness. The power we need will come through the holy spirit, this spirit is what you will need in the time of temptation!
